Sync address book & iCal in iPod nano (6th Gen)?
hello all,
today I switched from an ancient iPod to a brandnew iPod nano 6th Gen. To my utter surprise there seems to be no (straightforward) way to sync my address book or iCal...? Needless to say, the olden iPod offered that feature. Have I overlooked something???
Thanks and Regards,
Georg
hello planb77,
thanks for your fast reply! Unfortunately it is as feared... Of course you are right in that I could have spotted the missing functionality in the User Guide. However, nobody documents the functions they leave out -> you need a list of required functions and compare it with the available functions... :-(
I understand that Apple wants to differentiate the nano from e.g. the touch. But leaving out such basic functions which were even present in the iPod 1G is a sure way to p*** off even the most loyal customers. I buy Apple products (at a higher price) because I want things to simply work! If I wanted problems, I would by my PCs - or my MP3-players in the dept store around the corner. Arrggghhh!!!

Itunes stopped syncing cardio workouts from my Ipod Nano 6th Gen
Around May 2014, my Ipod nano stopped syncing my cardio workouts to Nike + through iTunes. My runs and walks sync, but when I use the Ipod Nano with Cardio equipment (LifeFitness, Eliptical, recumbent bike, treadmill), the information is stored on my nano correctly, but when I plug my Ipod nano into my computer to sync the data to Nike +, only my WALK and RUN statistics sync. After months of trying to figure out what was wrong, I finally contacted Nike, and they said it is a known issue with iTunes. I attempted to resolve this through Apple Support, but when I logged onto the Apple website, I was informed that this issue could only be looked at if I paid $19.00 to talk to a support person. I do not find this to be the kind of customer support I would expect from Apple. This feature worked fine for several years, but now it doesn't . How do I get this issue resolved?
Hello there, 209girl.
The following Knowledge Base article provides the steps for how to delete your playlist:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Delete songs, playlists, or other items
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12159
Additionally, the iPod User's manual shows how to delete it from the iPod itself (on page 26):

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

I've been using my Ipod for over a year now without issue. Today I downloaded some new audio books from Itunes and when I tried to sync up, it would not work and all of the books and music that I had on my Ipod are gone from my Ipod. They still show up in my Itunes library. The only thing I see that is different is that now there is a "cloud" symbol next to my library content. This makes no sense to me. Please help.

I'm not sure if it charged when I hooked it up to my roommate's computer, but it definately didn't register either. If I put it on the dock it plays so the port is fine, but that still doesn't help me sync it to my computer. -
My ipod nano 6th gen. is connected to my MacBook. I have an audio book on the MacBook in Itunes, and cannot load it into the Ipod. What am I doing wrong?
Is this audiobook configured to sync to your iPod via it's Books configuration pane in iTunes? Click on your iPod's device name under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes. This will bring you to the Summary tab. Look for the Books tab along the top and click on it.

Syncing Address Book contacts with iPod
I know some people will think this post should be in the iPod forum but I have realised that it is not my iPod beccasue I tried using a different iPod and the same problem happened. Anyway...the problem is that when I choose to sync Address Book contacts with iPod it comes up with this message:
No contacts available
Contact syncinig cannot be enabled because there are no contacts available. Do you want to open Address Book and create contacts now?
And gives me the options: Cancel and Open Address Book
I have tried deleting several different preferences for iTunes, Address Book and iSync (just incase).
I don't know what else to do, I know I can manually add my contacts by exporting them all as a vCard but it would be so much easier if iTunes could do it. Please help if you know anything!
iMac G5 (iSight) Mac OS X (10.4.7) 1.9GHz PowerPC G5, 512MB RAM, 17" Widescreen
iMac G5 (iSight) Mac OS X (10.4.7) 1.9GHz PowerPC G5, 512MB RAM, 17" WidescreenI've got Calenders syncing again, not sure how I did it. I deleted the one of the folders in /Users/Alex/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/Local/clientdata/
I found that in each folder there is a clientname.txt file with the name of what data is in the folder e.g. iCal, Safari, Keychain, Mail.
I deleted the iCal one and iTunes seems to be syncing it now. So I looked for a folder with Address Book in the clientname.txt file but there wasn't one. I am wondering whether that's the reason! -

IPod Nano 6th gen. won't sync to iTunes 11 on Windows 8?
Hi, I recently acquired a new Windows 8 laptop and after installing iTunes 11 I decided to sync my iPod Nano 6th gen. My iPod was last synced to iTunes 10.6 on Windows 7. When I synced the iPod to the new laptop I was receiving the problem of the WDF_VIOLATION which had something do to with Windows 8 and iTunes 11 being in compatible. I changed the compatibilty settings for Itunes to Windows 7 and the error has passed. The problem left standing is that my iPod will now not sync the library. After clicking"sync" either a very fast recognition happens or nothing at all will hapen and either way I'm left with the same music as I had on the previous iTunes. Is there a reason or anything I can do to change this? Thanks
You can only sync with one iTunes library. See the following for switching syncing computers.

Receive error message, "The iPod cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found. This is a iPod nano 6th Gen, all updates on iTunes and iPod, Macbook Pro OS 10.6.7. This is getting frustrating. I have changed USB ports, cables, reset, restored and was able to sync one time in parts, not all songs at once. I have seen a lot of this same issue, will Apple please find a solution, nothing works, I think I wasted my money with this iPod. I have the iPod touch, iPod shuffle, 4th gen iPod nano, iPhone and iPad. This is the only device that has this issue.
I was actually able to investigate and solve the problem myself. After readng many posts, I found that someone else's tips worked for me:

Try running a disk check out the iPod using the tools provided by windows.
To do this:
1. Plug in your iPod and close iTunes.
2. Go to "My Computer". Click on the iPod drive once. Go to File, and then click Properties.
3. Go to the Tools tab. Under "Error Checking", click Check Now.
4. Check both boxes. One says "Automatically fix file system errors" and the other says "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors". Place a check mark next to each of these options and hit Start.
The scan may take several minutes or more to complete, but once it has, go ahead and restart iTunes, and try re-syncing files to your iPod.

Ipod Nano 6th gen not syncing mp3s after itunes 11.1.4.62 update
As the title says, after updating itunes to the 11.1.4.62 update, and everything that doing that successfully involved such as completely uninstalling all Apple software and then reinstalling itunes, my ipod nano 6th gen will not allow itunes to sync any mp3 files to it. The only way to get any new files onto it is to let the ipod convert them into AAC files when you transfer, even though all other music files on the ipod are, and have always been, mp3 files. Everything worked fine before the latest itunes update, I could sync mp3 files to the ipod nano with no problems.
Anyone know of a solution to this issue, or whether Apple are working on a solution for this obviously botched itunes update?
Thanks in advance.Hello MarkLesch,

How to fix my newly acquired ipod nano 6th gen? i cannot sync it because it always appear to my screen that it cannot be synced. the required folder cannot be found? how is it?
Is your iPod configured to sync photos? If so, try disabling the syncing of photos and see if the error message goes away.
Anything change with your iTunes library since the last time the Nano was able to successfully sync?

HT1386 I can't sync my podcasts on my new ipod nano 6th gen
I can't sync my podcasts on my new ipod nano 6th Gen. Music syncs just fine.
In iTunes, when your iPod nano (Hhhmmm! This is the iPod Touch forum, but never mind) is showing in iTunes, look on the Device/Podcasts pane and choose the Sync Podcasts options that you want.

IPod Nano 6th gen won't sync with iTunes 12.1.1.4
iPod Nano 6th gen won't sync with iTunes 12.1.1.4.
This iPod was synced with another iTunes library. I had to transfer iTunes library from another laptop.
Launch iTunes (12.1.1.4), plug in Nano, Nano display says connected, Nano appears in iTunes, but when I attempt to navigate to Nano nothing occurs, or if I am able to navigate to Nano then I can't go any further and select music to sync and the Nano comes out of connected state. I have had to close iTunes, sometimes reboot laptop, but nothing I do appears to make any difference. It won't allow me to continue music selection process and start the sync process. Is there a way to simply reset the Nano and reconnect to get it to sync? I don't care about content as it needs to be resynced with this iteration of iTunes because it is currently associated with the other iTunes library.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. What solved my problem:
I restored my iPod nano on my wife's PC, which had version 11 of iTunes. I was then able to sync it on my PC. Why didn't I restore it on my PC? See following details.
Additional details:
I first took the iPod to the local Apple Store, where the only course of action they could offer was to restore the iPod. So they did. When I got home, it wouldn't even connect to iTunes on my PC, which was a regression from the day before. Out of desperation I plugged it into my wife's PC, and her older version of iTunes immediately told me the iPod had been formatted on a Mac and it needed to be restored on a PC to be usable by a Windows machine. Why my newer version of iTunes couldn't tell me that is a mystery.

I am connecting my iPhone 5 to my Windows computer via USB. This should open iTunes and start the sync process. Instead of iTunes opening, I get the iTunes service agreement to which I must agree. Then iTunes opens and begins to back up my phone.
