Sync All songs and SOME Playlists?

When syncing my ipod, I'd like to sync all songs, but only some playlists (the other ipods that sync on my computer also have playlists that I do not wish to see on my ipod).
There is an option for Sync All songs and All Playlists, or Sync only checked playlists. If I select the Checked Playlists option, then I only sync the songs in the playlists and not the majority of my itunes library. Is there any way for me to Sync All Songs and Only Checked Playlists?
Thanks.

No, it doesn't work that way. And, even if you do Sync Selected playlists, if any of the songs in the selected playlists are in the non-selected playlists, the non-selected playlist will show up on the iPod (with only the songs from the selected playlists)which is a bit odd.
If you're using a Classic or 3rd gen, you could put all your playlists in one folder in iTunes. Those iPods recognize folders so then you could just go to that folder and ignore the other playlists.

  • All songs and SOME playlists

How do you upload all your songs but SOME playlists?
Do you make a smart playlist of ALL your songs. (Id est, a library playlist.) And select it along with the playlists you want?
Doesn't that take up a lot of space?

Stuck with one or the other. Sync all or sync selected playlists. One of your selected playlists could include all file though.

  • WONT SYNC ALL SONGS AND ON PLAYLIST NEXT TO SONGS IS (!) THAT SONGS THAT WEREN'T SYNCED

i HAVE A IPOD CLASSIC JUST TRIED TO SYNC IT AND A MESSAGE CAME UP SAYING NOT ABLE TO SYNC ALL SONGS SO I CONTUNED TO SYNC, WHEN DONE I WENT TO MY LIBRARY OF SONGS AND FOUND NEXT TO THE SONGS NOT SYNCED THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED.

Do a "Get Info" on the songs with the ! and look at the path to the songs. What the ! means is that iTunes couldn't find the song file, so likely the path to the song has changed. It could be they were on a removable drive that changed drive letters.

  • Sync all songs but select playlists

I am now running iTunes 9 and I can't seem to figure out how to do this. In the old version you could select to sync checked songs and then go to the iPod and select which playlists you wanted. Now it's either all songs and playlists or select playlists. Is there a way to do what I want?

Sync all songs but select playlists.
If you sync all, you don't select playlists.
Now it's either all songs and playlists or select playlists.
And that's how it has always been.
Is there a way to do what I want?
It's exactly the same as it was.
    Select the iPod in iTunes.
    Click the Summary tab.
    Tick *Sync only checked items*.
    Click the Music tab.
Select *Sync music* and select *Selected playlists* then tick the playlists you want.
Note that *Sync only checked items* doe snot mnena you cannot sync selected playlists or everything. It simply means if you have items unchecked and they are included in any playlists, they will not sync.

    Hello babichanjacob
Change how it syncs by enabling Manually manage music and videos, then you can drag and drop the music that you want on your iPhone. Revert it back to test to see if that resolves the issue.

  • Sync all songs, not the playlists

    Hello Everyone,
I have a quick problem I'd like help with. I was wondering if it is at all possible to sync all the songs in the library, just not the playlists. I use a shared computer so there is a lot of unwanted playlists. So is this at all possible? Thanks.
    Cheers,
    Ken

Have you considered using "Sync Music - Selected Playlists" and creating a single playlist with links to all of the songs in the library to update from? The rest of the playlists will remain in iTunes. Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

  • Cant sync all songs and skipping songs on phone.

Hi! I have an iPhone 5s running ios 8.1, and im running the latest version of itunes, 12.something. haha but anyway, i have about 650 songs on my computer, that all play on there,  but when i try to sync them to my phone, a few things happen.
An "unknown error (-54)" pops up after syncing a few songs.
only about one out of every 10 songs work on my phone, the title is there, but it skips right over it when i try to play it, and eventually he music app crashes.
when i check manually manage music and videos, it goes over my capacity, and doesnt let me check "sync music"
I've already converted all my songs to AAC, took all the music off and attempted to redownload it, and sync it multiple times. Any advice would help. Thanks alot!

Hi, please try to swipe iTunes Match and Show All Music to OFF on your iPhone: tap Settings > Music > swipe Show All Music and iTunes Match to OFF respectively. The next, connect your iPhone to your computer, try to select one song to sync. If it succeed, then try to select dozens of songs to sync.

  • Ipod Shuffle - 2 Gen, 1 GB - not sync all songs and blank autoplay menu

    Hi,
I have two issues with my ipod shuffle, 2 Gen, 1 GB.
When I attach it to my computer a blank autoplay menu pops up. Nothing can be selected and I just click cancel and it goes away but it comes up every time I connect. I've tried going into the properties of it in my computer and setting the default action to do nothing but it still comes up. I've also disabled disk use within the settings of it in iTunes but it still happens.
Second when I try to autofill from a playlist, it shows all the songs ready to be synced but after doing about 11, it stops and says it's completed when it clearly hasn't. If I press sync again it does a few more then same result. It just won't fill the ipod up. I've double checked there's room on there and I have set zero space for disk use so the entire 1 GB is used for music but it still won't do a complete fill in one go.
Anyone got any ideas? Using latest version of ipod software 1.0.4 and latest version of iTunes 10.1.0.54

My iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen (latest firmware + iTunes) is
almost only playing purchased .m4p songs. Only very
few (1-2 out of 200) of .m4a are playing on the
    shuffle.
The songs are getting transfered properly and when
the shuffle is connected I can play the
songs/.m4a-files stored on the shuffle through Real
Player (The folder structure is accessible through
the FileExplorer while the upload process is
    running).
If I only upload not playable .m4a songs the shuffle
    blinks "no music uploaded".
Looks like a firmware problem of the Shuffle since I
can't see any pattern which .m4a songs are played and
    which not.
Can anyone share this experience? Any solution?
WHAT does iTunes' Get Info "Summary" say about the songs that don't play?

If the problem continues, restart the computer and the device.

  • Not syncing all songs on playlists. Hmm. What's wrong.

iTunes is not syncing all songs on my playlists with my devices. No changes have been made recently. The PC is a 5 year old Dell, with Itunes on it the whole time. It has the latest itunes version. My devices are a 160 gig Classic, and 2 iPhone 4's. All devices have the latest ios. I synced yesterday like i have hundreds of times before, and each playlist is missing 1 or two songs. Yes, they are all checked in itunes. I've tried both "sync all songs in library", and "sync select playlists". Same Result. Any guesses?

I am having this issue also.  Not a problem when I had the iPhone 4, but now that I have the 4s, I have missing songs from playlists.  The songs are there on my phone - I can play them, but they won't show up on my playlist.  I can manually add them to the playlist, but they won't "stick".  I can play the songs fine on my PC in iTunes fine also.  Seems like it only applies to songs that were actually purchased from iTunes (iCloud available).
I tried removing all music from the phone (de-syncing with iTunes) and then doing a fresh sync - no dice.
I don't want to go through a full new set up of my phone (again) - just for this issue, with no guarantee of success.  How do we escalate this to Apple?  Do they review these posts?

  • My ipod is not recognized on a new computer after old one crashed.  I have painstakenly restored all songs and playlists.  I deautorized all, and the reauthorized new computer.  It won't sync.

My ipod is now recognized on a new computer after old one crashed.  I installed itunes on the new computer, and have painstakenly restored all songs and playlists. I also purchased several new songs from the itunes stores.  Now my ipod will not sync with the new computer.  I deauthorized all computers, then reauthorozed the new one.  My ipod still won't sync.

...after running diagnostics through itunes, itunes says  "device not found"  Seems there are a lot of others having this problem, and it seems to be related to new version of itunes.  Apple should do something to fix this.

  • IPod touch won't sync all songs in playlist

My son bought a brand-new iPod touch yesterday. He has been trying to compile his playlist and sync it to the new iPod. He has 41 songs on his playlist and only 22 of them will sync. They are all in the iTunes library and the iPod library, but not on the playlist. We tried changing Settings>Music>Group by Album Artist>Off, and that doesn't work. We've also created new playlists and tried syncing those, and that doesn't work either. Today, I noticed that my iPod Touch is doing the very same thing. We have the most recent software and many of the songs were purchased directly through iTunes.
Any thoughts? We've had my son's iPod for 2 days and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I am paying Apple support for help on something that seems to be an inbred error on their part.
    Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem as well and tried so many of these solutions, but no luck. I just got a new laptop with windows 8 and when I hooked my iTouch4 to my computer it only show 36 songs out of 509 of the ones I have on my iTouch. (I was freaking out because I thought windows 8 had something to do with it, but as usual I was being paranoid )
I found a way to put the rest of my music on my USB and hooked it to my laptop and put that music in a separate folder. I had all of them play onto iTunes. Now they all worked on iTunes, but I realized they didn't really sync onto my iTouch. To test it out a bought a new song on iTunes and clicked "sync" onto my iTouch, but nothing happened.
So I started searching for answers, but none of the methods solved my problem. So I started messing around with it and realized that the problem was ACTUALLY A SIMPLE SOLUTION.
So this is what I did...
    1) Start playing one of the songs that won't sync to your iTouch4
(don't know how to sync all songs at once yet)
    2) Now right click at the top bar of iTunes where it shows the song playing
    right click on album picture
    3) Then scroll to "Add to Playlist"
the arrow of "Add to Playlist" will show a list of your own playlists and the name of your iPod
    4) Click on the name of your iPod      Ex) Robert's iPod
    5) Then (you can stop playing song at this point) click on iPod device
This should right away take you to "Summary"
    6) Instead of being on "Summary" look for "On This iPod" - Click it
    7) Now "On This iPod" show a list of all the music that is currently on your iTouch
(including the song you just added from iTunes by following these steps)
    8) Make sure all the songs you want in the list have been marked with a "check mark"
    9) Then click "sync"
Check iTouch to see if song downloaded...
*If not then - still on "On This iPod" - click on "Autofill"
    (Wait for it to load)
    Now click "sync"
You should now have the songs on your iTouch as well!
It's a simple solution, but I haven't seen anyone advicing it and I wish they had so I didn't have to go through all this trouble
    Hopefully this helps!!!

  • How do I get my 6th generation Ipod to shuffle AND REPEAT all songs in a playlist?

How do I get my 6th generation Ipod to shuffle AND REPEAT all songs in a playlist (continual playing)?

You could get a cable such as this one.
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=1526&sku=35502
It has the dock connector on one end fro connection to the iPod and then two connectors on the other end, one for connecting to the firewire charger you use and the other to connect to the usb port on your computer to sync the iPod. You can sync and charge at the same time.
Alternatively, you could explore the possibility of installing a high speed card to your computer such as this one.

I'm not saying that is the one you need (I know nothing at all about your particular computer), I'm just using this as an example of what I mean.

I recently transferred my ITunes library to an external hard drive.  I made sure to copy all the data from the saved location.  After the transfer I noticed that a lot of albums are missing the first song and some recently purchased albums are missing.  Is there any way to recover the data?  Thanks for any help.

I may have found an answer here:
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive
They only thing I can assume is that my external hard drive was slow to start and iTunes defaulted to its old directory (see the last paragraph at the link above). However, once my external was recognized shouldn't everything have fixed itself?
