Sync appple TV on mountain lion

From ITunes, since I intalled my latest IMac with OSX 10.8.2, it is no longer possible to sync my 2 old generation Apple TV.  Can anybody help?  The device menu is very limited: only " photos" and the sync operation is not possible.

photos is the only thing one can sync to other appletv then the 1g alu appletv
the other later generations only support accessing the shared lib of itunes
and they also support sync of photo and being used as airplay speakers

  • Using iPad Pages,, I inserted emoji characters in a document and the characters appeared in the document when it synced to my iPhone, but they did not appear when synced to my iMac (Mountain Lion). Any ideas?

Using iPad Pages, I inserted emoji characters successfully in a document. They appeared when the document was synced to my iPhone but the characters did not appear when synced to my iMac (Mountain Lion). Only blank spaces where they should have been Why?

You'd need to have an Emoji font installed on your Computer. Do you?

  • Notes don't sync with iphone and mountain lion

I upgraded to mountain lion and I cannot get my notes to sync for the life of me. So now I have notes on my iphone and separate notes on my computer. They never sync, so they are virtually worthless. What the heck happened? I don't use iCloud. In the past, I just clicked sync and the notes would be the same on the computer and iphone. Simple. How can I fix this??

Syncing Notes using iTunes is no longer supported on OS X v10.8 and later. Read more here:

  • ITunes movie playback, audio and video not in sync after upgrade to Mountain Lion

After upgrading to Mountain Lion I have problems with iTunes movie playback, and the audio/video at times stalls/delays, or skips a few seconds, or even gets out of sync.  I feared this problem was isolated to my machine until I saw an article online: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57489874-263/sound-stuttering-after-mountai n-lion-installation/.  I have 2011 iMac 27" with 16G RAM and am running the latest iTunes and Mac OS X software, and shutting down extra programs doesn't help.  Please let me know of any solution.

I also have this problem, and some videos will no longer play in iTunes.
I get a message that this video is not compatible with this version of iTunes. I have to open the video in Quicktime to watch it.
Unacceptable! This hardware and software is too expensive to have these performance issues.

  • ICloud syncing with ical with Mountain Lion

I have one icloud calendar on one of my two new macs (MBA 2012 + MBP Retina both with Mountain Lion).
I have events in my calendar on one mac - the MBA.  It does not sync to iCloud.  I imported that calendar to my other mac successfully but when I refreshed it the calendar went blank just like the calendar on iCloud.  How can I get iCloud to update itself?
NB It does it ok for mail and contacts/addressbook

Go to System Preferences>iCloud. You should be able to check which documents and settings you want stored in the cloud and you should be able to then automatically push the items to your iPhone.
    From iCloud help:
"iCloud stores your content and wirelessly pushes it to your Mac, iOS devices, and PC. iCloud is built into your Mac apps, so they stay up to date with the apps on your other devices set up with iCloud and with the web apps on the iCloud website. Thereʼs no need to dock your iOS device or sync it to your computer."
    Does it work for you?

  • ITunes stopped syncing iPhone 4s after Mountain Lion upgrade

Installed Mountain Lion today, all looks well except sync of iPhone 4s with iTunes won't start either directly as the phone is hooked up or by forcing a Sync. iTunes sees the device but hitting Sync gets stuck on "Waiting for sync to start", and after a while it gives up with an error message.
    OS X 10.8 on a MacBook Air (2012).
    Anyone else seeing this? Ideas?

I've tried this but with no luck. I've restarted my iphone and itunes repeatedly, then tried to sync. Each time the "memory" line or gauge (whatever you call it - it tells you how much memory you're using for music, photos, etc. as well as total memory used/available) shows all of the music is on the phone, but after syncing is done the music has NOT transferred to my iphone and the music portion of that "memory" line or gauge drops down to near zero.
This along with my inability, even after 2 1/2 hours with Apple tech support, to get my calendar or contacts to sync.
Any ideas out there? A Nobel Prize may be available!!

  • How does syncing Notes work with Mountain Lion ?

How does syncing Notes with Mountain Lion?

Notes are synched via IMAP.  IMAP is a protocol most frequently used by email.
So if you have an iCloud account and have set up a @me.com email address, that's what is used to sync.  For Gmail, that can be used as well, though Gmail's IMAP support has to be enabled on their site and their implementation is very nonstandard and can be problematic.  Best is to sync notes via iCloud.

  • Pages docs, numbers docs won't sync between my iMac (mountain lion) with iCloud

    Hello,
I can't get pages documents on my Mac to synce with iCloud.  I've tried several different methods of moving documents into the Pages iCloud directory, but in all cases the file just sits there in 'waiting' mode.
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    Please help.

Never mind... It was indeed something simple that I missed (my icloud account was attached to an apple ID I didn't even know existed -- created for me?? ... fixed it - settings, icloud, sign out, signed back in as my actual apple ID).

  • Gmail Reminders not showing up in mountain lion

I don't have an iPhone, so all of my reminders (tasks) are in Google Tasks. When I setup my accounts in Mountain Lion on my MBP it says it will sync reminders, but I cannot find them anywhere. So is there a way to sync Google Tasks with Mountain Lions Reminders app, or does this just really not work?
I might switch to an iphone when the new one comes out, but for now I use an Android phone and so whatever I use has to be able to sync to my phone.
    Thanks in advance.
    --Aric

Actually the reminders app in both the iPhone and, it seems, mountain lion, can be updated via exange accounts (I know this for certain, other kinds of 3rd party syncing I can't speak for), but as yet google itself has not implamented task syncing through its exange service. It's very annoying as I use the google sync tools as an alternative to icloud.

  • Backup iPhone in Mountain Lion

When attempting to sync my iPhone in Mountain Lion I am getting the "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone" message.  It tells me to delete the backup for this iPhone, then try again.
This is a new iMac but the data was transfered from my Macbook Pro.  I have not backed up on this machine yet....
I read the advise from some to go to preferences in the iTunes menu and devices and delete it from there, but there is nothing listed when I go to devices.  Others say to go to library/mobile devices....etc, but I cannot for the life of me find that in the new Mountain Lion.
    HELP?????  Thank you in advance.

You will have to turn on show all hidden files & folders to see it. Delete everything in the folder, but not the folder itself.

  • IPod Touch 5g problems switching between Mavericks and Mountain Lion.

My iPod Touch 5G is set up to sync (manually) with my Mountain Lion iMac. If I connect the iPod to my MacBook Air running Mavericks, it works fine. However, if I then connect the iPod to my iMac, iTunes re-syncs all 9,000 songs - taking hours! This can't be right. Is there any way to fix this? I've tried restoring it and copying all my music back to the iPod, but it  still happens. I need to connect it to both Macs, without this annoying issue. HELP!

You can only sync music and videos among different iTunes libraries/computer using the manual method of syncing. Otherwise when y switch libraries/computer, the media on the iPod will be replaced with the media in the iTunes library of the second computer.
The manual method of syncing is included here:

  • How to sync calendars and contacts between ios 3.1.3 and Mountain Lion?

I have a 1st generation iPod touch under iOS 3.1.3 and a MacBook Pro under Mountain Lion 10.8.3 with iTunes 11.0.1.
Since the upgrade to Mountain Lion syncing calendars and contacts between the iPod Touch and the Mac no longer works.
I don't want my personal information in Apple's or anybody else's Cloud and anyway iOS 3.1.3 can't use Apple's Cloud.
So I can no longer sync without a) replacing my iPod Touch which itself works perfectly well and does not need replacing and b) using Apple's Cloud which I do not wish to use for personal data.
This is a MAJOR AND DAMAGING step backwards by Apple, which they should correct IMMEDIATELY if they wish to keep their increasingly fed-up older customers.
    Time-wasting work-around:
As I never trust operating system upgrades to not destroy something that "just works", I have Snow Leopard still on another bootable partition on my machine, and Lion on a bootable partition on an external Thunderbolt disc.
In order to sync, I backup Calendars and Contacts under Mountain Lion under which I do all my normal work, switch to either Snow Leopard or Lion, update iCal and Address Book from the backup files saved under Mountain Lion, sync the iPod Touch, and switch back to Mountain Lion.
Lots of time wasted with 2 successive re-boots, but at least HERE IS A SOLUTION THAT WORKS - I have seen lots of posts protesting bitterly about this totally unacceptable backwards step - what on earth do Apple hope to gain from this? More sales of newer equipment to replace perfectly functioning older ones? Certainly not from many of us.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
