Sync apps between two ipods?

I have two ipods touches (one 4th gen, one 5th gen).  The games I played for years on the 4th gen are now loaded on the new 5th gen.  I want to be able to play the apps/games on either ipod and have the other one stay sync'd with scores, results, ect.  Is there a way to do that?
Thanks,
Mike

  • How do I sync calendars between two iPods

End goal: I want to sync calendars between my iPod touch & my spouse's.
I was told I needed to set up iCloud, but (after a LONG time of figuring out that my 2nd gen can't support iOS6) it seems like that can't happen. Is there another way to sync calendars? I can already (sort-of) sync with the outlook calendar on my desktop PC.
Thanks in advance for any help!

You only need iOS 5 or higher to use iCloud, but that won't help since the 2nd gen iPod Touch can't be updated beyond iOS 4.2.1.  Your other options for sharing your calendar are to sync both devices with Outlook on the same computer (as you are doing), or use a different cloud option such as Google (where you could set up a gmail account as an exchange account on both devices as shown here: http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740, and enable calendar syncing).

  • Need to sync calendars between two iPod touchs,  8GB 3rd Generation

I use Microsoft Works on my PC and iTunes does not recognize the Works calendar. Therefore I use the iPod's Apps calendar. I recently purchased an identical iPod for my wife and can't find a way to sync the calendars between the two iPods.

I think you can sync both of them to the same Google Calendar account when you have WiFi access. See this: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&cbid=riutrlst6g 98&src=cb&lev=answer
Pay special attention to step 13 to avoid problems.

  • HT201269 How to sync playlists between two iPods ?

Previously, I could sync my nano, eject, insert wife’s shuffle, re-sync, and my latest playlists would sync to her iPod. That sequence isn’t working

If you are using the latest iTunes (11.4) then I suggest that you wait for the next update to iTunes as there do appear to be some issues with the current release. I'm sure that Apple are aware of the probelms and are working to fix them with the next release.
In the meantime, if you receive any other helpful and useful suggestions, by all means try them.

  • Sync Mail between two computers

After Leopard upgrade, I switched from Entourage to Mail.app, so I'm new to it.
I use two Macs and POP accounts. How can I sync Mail.app between two computers in Leopard? The Sync Service of Smart Folders is not enough for me.
May I use a sync app like Folders Synchrnonizer?
    Thanks
    Stefano

Both my wife and I have multiple macs and work at home and on the road - we've tried all sorts, and there are 3 approaches that work:
    1) IMAP
I know you think this isn't the ideal solution for you, but it is unbelievably simple and rock solid once you get it working.
Set your POP mail addresses to forward all mail to your IMAP address (I use .mac which is brilliant, I don't know about Gmail).
Your mail is server based, so your laptop, desktop, iPhone, webmail from a PC etc. are all always in sync.
You will still get your mail from your old accounts.
You can set rules on any of your machines to filter your mail into folders according to which address they were originally sent to.
HOWEVER the mail you SEND will be FROM your IMAP address, so your clients / friends may get confused if you don't want them to use your IMAP address as your main address.
    2)
Leave POP mail on the server.
In Mail preferences, highlight your POP account and click on the "Advanced" tab.
Select "Remove mail from server" to a 1 day if you come home each night.
If you are away for longer, make it 1 week or Never.
This way, if you download mail on your Laptop, when you get home that evening, your desktop will download the same mail again, as it has been left on the server.
    It's sort of fake IMAP.
The downside is you can end up with a full mailbox at the server very quickly as you are now leaving messages on it, and you may have to empty the server yourself sometimes (in the same menu you just adjusted).
Also, if you are away from your laptop too long, you may download and later delete-from-the-server messages on your desktop, leaving your laptop out of date.
Use Mac Sync to keep your rules, mailboxes and preferences synced up.
This is the way it's designed to work, so it should work fine.
    3)
    Drag the Mail folder.
Assuming you're only using one Mac at any one time, you simply move the main mail folder to whichever machine is current.
    Quit Mail on both machines.
On your target mac, go to youruserfolder/Library and rename the "Mail" folder to something else like "Mail Old". This is just so you have a backup.
On your source mac, go to youruserfolder/Library and copy that entire folder (not just the mailboxes) either to a drive to transfer to your target mac, or straight to it if you have it networked.
When you start up mail you will find the messages, folders, mailboxes etc. are the same as they were on your source mac.
Now you use your target mac (say your laptop) for a while.
When you are going back to your original source mac (e.g. your desktop), you now repeat the process in the other direction, replacing your desktop's mail folder with your newer laptop's version.
It's really important you use one mac at a time and swap the folder each time you switch.
If you rename the previous version before you overwrite it, you know you have a backup if things get out of sync.
It works really well if you only take the laptop out occassionally, or if you use it exclusively for days at a time (i.e you go away) and you only need to do the transfer every so often.
Also, it helps if you don't have thousands of emails - if your Mail folder is under half a gig, you can do this quickly using a USB keyring or similar. Any bigger and the transfer can get a bit slow.
I use option 1, and felt it was worth changing my email address for.
My wife uses option 2 when she is using her laptop in the day and she can run her desktop each evening the download the mail left on the server.
But she sometimes gets trouble with her popmail server filling up (she gets lots of video and audio attachments) so if she's going away or not planning to use her desktop in the evenings, she reverts to option 3 and removes messages from the server "right away", updating her desktop's mail folder at the end of the week and just using her laptop until then.
    Good luck!

    Hi,
I would like to know of a way(s) to share/exchange songs between two iPods (synced to two separate computers).

    Apu,
It's possible to share between two computers but not two iPods, change the settings for the pod to manual > Edit > Preferences > iPod.

  • Sync contacts between two account iCloud

    Hi everyone,
Me and my wife both have iphone. We usually used just one iCloud account, so we had shared calendar, contacts etc. etc. which is very useful for us.
Since Siri has arrived it begun to create troubles with the contacts, because the contact marked as "me" is the same for both iphones, so on my iphone siri calls me with the name of my wife...
Now with the new "family" function with iOS 8 i can finally separate the iCloud accounts on our iphones, and still have the same apps, calendar etc. on both of them.
My problem is with the contacts, we would like to keep the same contacts on both iphones and synched, but i can't do that with the "family" function.
Anyone can suggest me a way to sync contacts between two account iCloud selecting which information to share?
    Thanks

Thanks. You said: "When you setup iCloud the On my Mac contacts should've been moved to iCloud I think (can't remember what happened in my case)."
Actually that does not happen, or at least it didn't happen to me.

  • Problem syncing Mail between two computers

I know this is a well worn topic and I've read the posts on syncing mail between two computers. Overall, I've gotten it to work pretty well. Whenever I move from one computer to another, I copy my ~/Library/Mail folder to my thumbdrive and sync it w/ the same folder on my other computer before I fire up Mail on it.
But here's the problem: I rebuilt the "sent" mailbox on one of my computers (let's call it computer A). This apparently gives new message numbers to the messages. Things worked great on computer A after that.
Then I synced the mailbox with my other computer, computer B. On computer B, the change in mailbox numbers apparently was not recognized. Every message in the "sent" folder gave me the message that I needed to go online and download the message. So I rebuilt the "sent" mailbox on computer B. Things then worked great.
Then I synced back with computer A and the same thing happened. Every message in the sent folder gave me the "download from server message."
It seems that I'm in some sort of infinite loop. The rebuild on one computer is not recognized by the other computer. Clearly, there is some file somewhere that contains info that's not being conveyed when I sync the ~/Library/Mail folder.
    Any suggestions??

That is interesting. To that effect I have thrown together this Applescript:
(CAUTION... do not run this script, experimental only!
    set flashDrive to "FLASH"
tell application "System Events" to exists process "Mail.app"
if the result is true then tell application "Mail" to quit
-- copy files to mounted disk
    do shell script "rm -r /Volumes/" & flashDrive & "/Mail/"
    do shell script "cp -r ~/Library/Mail /Volumes/" & flashDrive & "/"
    do shell script "cp ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist /Volumes/" & flashDrive & "/Mail/"
    --copy files to userfolder
do shell script "rm -r ~/Library/Mail"
    do shell script "cp -r /Volumes/" & flashDrive & "/Mail ~/Library/"
    do shell script "cp /Volumes/" & flashDrive & "/Mail/com.apple.mail.plist ~/Library/Preferences/"
Problem is, I don't know how to tell the script which version of mail data is older or newer. If you know of such a way let me know and I'll script it in, otherwise the user is stuck with manually choosing what to copy to where.
And as we all know, any user choices are error-prone.

  • Using Lightroom Cloud to Sync Catalog Between Two Machines

I have use of so many cloud services including the 20gb that Adobe gives me.  Is there a way i can sync my catalog on the cloud so that i can have all my metadata on both my laptop and desk top?  I also have 300gb of cloud storage though Copy.  I would just like some recomendations on how best to go about it. Thanks

    Hi Pat,
Using Lightroom Cloud to Sync Catalog Between Two Machines
If you’re running Lightroom on a laptop during your location shoots, you might want to take all the edits, keywords, metadata, and of course the photos themselves, and add them to the Lightroom catalog on your studio computer. It’s easier than it sounds: basically, you choose which catalog to export from your laptop, then you take the folder it creates over to your studio computer and import it.
You need to decide whether you want to export a folder (all the imported photos from your shoot), or a collection (just your Picks from the shoot). In this case, we’ll go with a collection, so go to the Collections panel and click on the collection you want to merge with your main catalog back in your studio. (If you had chosen a folder, the only difference would be you’d go to the Folders panel and click on the folder from that shoot instead. Either way, all the metadata you added, and any edits you made in Lightroom, will still be transferred over to the other machine.)

  • ITunes cannot sync apps to the iPod because the apps installed on the iPod could not be determined error message

I've been getting the "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPod because the apps installed on the iPod could not be determined" error message for a while. I have tried restoring my iPod but as soon as I try to sync it again (even with nothing changing in iTunes or on the iPod) I get the same error message. Whenever I want to add music to my iPod I have to delete everything and then wait hours for it to restore which is ridiculous. Anyone have any other suggestions for fixing this problem?
I'm using a 3rd generation iPod touch with 4.2.1 software and iTunes 10.5.3.3

The fact that there is so many discussions with no clear answer is the problem.
I went back and looked through all the different suggestions and and tried them all to make sure I didn't miss anything. What finally worked for me was making sure all apps were updated on the iPod and making sure all apps were updates in iTunes (under the Library>Apps tab NOT under devices) and then syncing.

  • ITunes cannot sync apps to the iPod because the apps installed on the iPod could not be determined

I have a 3rd generation iPod touch. I just downloaded the IOS 5.0, I seem to have all the features (reader, notification center, newsstand, etc.), but I recently experienced a problem.
After getting the update and restoring my iPod, iTunes started reinstalling all my music, apps, and videos. It reinstalled all my apps last, and before that, I used iTunes to delete a lot of them and organize them into folders. I then re synced it. Midway through this, I had to leave, but I had heard that I could sync my iPod wirelessly if it was connected to wifi and an outlet, so I checked the little box and tried this. However, I then got the error message "iTunes cannot sync apps to the iPod '______' because the apps installed on the iPod could not be determined". All my songs, videos, and 5,800 photos are on there, but half my apps are fully synced and usable, while the other half shows up with a loading bar at the bottom saying "waiting".
Yes, I have the "Sync Apps" box ticked.
    Yes, my computer is authorized.
Yes, I have verified that all the apps are in my iTunes.
Yes, I tried plugging my iPod back into iTunes and manually syncing it.
I would simply restore it and resync again, but the majority of my photos aren't on my computer, so if I did that, they would be gone. After I installed the IOS 5.0, and my iPod was restored, it automatically put all my photos back. If someone can tell me whether or not this is something that's automatic whenever you restore your iPod (whether it be manually from iTunes or from an update), that would also be greatly appreciated.
However, what I'm looking for is simply a way to get my other 80+ apps back in working order without having to restore my iPod or anything too complicated.

    EDIT:
I tried restarting my iPod... now it just says that the iPod cannot be synced because the required disk cannot be found.
This update is seriously frustrating. I've heard from a lot of people that the wifi iTunes sync isn't working either.

  • HT1977 It says that my computer is not authorized to sync apps to my ipod. How do i authorize it?

It says that my computer is not authorized to sync apps to my ipod. How do i authorize it?  It tells me "go to store>authorize my computer" But i cannot find this anywhere!

Open iTunes and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

  • HT204053 Is it possible to sync calendars between two different users?

Is it possible to sync calendars between two different users?

    Hi
Installing the drive into the older machine may work, you WILL get a lot of driver errors and the unit may even fail to boot. The other problem is that the drives may not be compatable, the drive in the broken PC is a SATA drive, older PCs had IDE drives with very different connectors.
Your best option is to do as you suggest and obtain a USB caddy and extract the data that way.
Make sure that the caddy you get will support SATA drives (all new ones will).
