Sync backup problem

Hello
This is my first around here with a question, but lotta times got help here with other's questions/answers
Before sending my Iphone to   , i've made two backups on my computer through itunes in windows 7. I've made two (really i don't know why), in one it was a full backup and another with important things only, like contacts, notes, etc.. It happens now that I can't access that full backup to get apps back too (don't know if music has been backed up too and should come back to iphone), and I can't find app downloading history either, to possibly get them back from there, as music won't be a problem, just need a little patience. Is it possible that full backup has been somehow overwritten by the second one? Any chance to get it back?
Heavily lost on this as it is the first time dealing with backups, and in iCloud I only have contacts synced...
Any help appreciated!
Thanks

    Scott,
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes, currently 9.0.2. You can download the latest version of iTunes from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
Also, make sure the iPhone is directly connected to a high-speed USB2 port on the PC. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286 provides other general troubleshooting tips that will help rule out a USB connection issue.

  • Is There a Way to Force a SYNC/BACKUP of the IPHONE

Hi All. Thanks again for the help on the logo stuck issue. Is there a way to force a sync/backup of the phone so if another restore is necessary the backup is recent and can recover the phone? Thanks all.

This is close to the problem I'm having. My husband let someone at work "update" his program and the goober deleted everything. I can only get a screen that has itunes logo and a usb cable picture. When I try to sync it Itunes doesn't bring up the phone on the left side. It doesn't recognize it at all. Can someone please tell me what I need to do? I've already tried reinstalling itunes, I've tried to sync on another computer and all I get is that itunes screen on my phone.

  • HT4113 My screen in broken and I need to sync/backup my phone. Please help!!!

My iphone 5 screen went out on me (it is blacked out) and I need to sync/backup my phone before I get it serviced for a new screen.  Unfortuantely, I am unable to sync my device to my itunes on my macbook, because it is asking me to enter my passcode to unlock my phone.  The only problem is my screen doesn't work so I am unable to do so!  I am able to call Siri on my phone, but even she is saying she cannot unlock my phone even if I verbally told her my password. I already have an apple appointment set up, but I didn't realize this question until I got home.  I understand my itunes purchases are retrievable- it's my personal photos, notes, videos etc that I am trying to save.  My cloud backup is already maxed out, but there is still more stuff on my phone to salvage.  I would like to have my phone info backed up before they fix/restore my screen. I risk losing everything! (disclaimer: My previous laptop has been broken so I was unable to do a recent backup, hence my frustration).  Please, if you can offer me any constructive advice on how to sync my disabled screen and passcode-locked phone, that would be greatly appreciated!

I am connected to a Mac with OS 10.4. Thank  you!

  • IPhone4 - Possible Sync/Backup Solution at last...

Since upgrading to iTunes 10.7 I've been unable to sync/backup my iPhone 4 via either USB or WiFi.
I've had  ALL the different messages over the months - "Can't start a session", can't sync, can't backup, etc.
I've followed all the advice from the forums - I've reinstalled iTunes, I've shut restarted the AppleMobileDeviceHelper services, I've restored my iPhone from backup, I've Reset Network Connections, I've deleted my backups on my PC and sync history in iTunes, but NOTHING works. (Sometimes it solves the problem for a short time, but then it returns).
iTunes 11 hasn't fixed the problem, but I THINK I've found a temporary solution - I can finally get my phone to sync again via USB if I turn WiFi *OFF* first.
(Ridiculous, but is it possible the sync/backup software sees the USB as a power source and tries syncing by USB & WiFi at the same time?)
Hope this helps someone else in the same position...
    CR

Mine has been backing up for 3 hours now.  I stopped it after about an hour the first time, thinking something was wrong.  This is ridiculous.  I have never had a backup/upgrade take this long.  I also find it somewhat odd that no one has replied to this post with similar problems.  Are we the only 2, out of millions, that are having this problem?

  • Restoring pics from mac mobile sync backup to iphone?

I updated my iphone to the newest version without  thinking and lost all my pics and videos  from camera roll
I found them on the macbook under  gibberish named files in  Library>app support>mobile sync>backup
I would like to get the pics and videos on the phone again. But I suspect that cant happen unless  I  move them somewhere  easier to find on macbook  for syncing     Any suggestions?  Easiest way to solve the problem?

Jailbreaking and "hacking" to unlock are in fact two different items. Many phones are "hacked" to unlock them but, not jailbroken. Read through this article to understand the iphone restore process. "Choose a backup to restore. This will restore only the contacts, calendars, text messages, and settings, not the iPhone firmware." The iphone firmware is NOT included in your phone's backup. Part of the process of restoring an iphone is the verification process with Apple's servers, which your phone will fail. As I've already stated, ANY ATTEMPT to update software or restore an iphone that has been hacked to unlock it will re-lock the phone to the carrier it was originally locked to. As to the fact that your phone is also jailbroken, I don't know what will happen. You could end up with a brick.

  • HT1766 I want to restore my iPhone to the backup I did just before upgrading to iOS6. Today's sync/backup erased most of my contacts and almost all of my phone numbers within the remaining contacts.  No iCloud backup because of other issues still to resol

I want to restore my iPhone to the backup that I did just before upgrading to iOS6.  When I try to pull up old backups, I only see one from this morning and an old one from May 2012 when I still had my iPhone 3GS.  I have not been using iCloud since it was set up improperly when I first switched to the 4S, the contacts weren't being synced AT ALL.  visited the genius bar, they said I need a whole other appointment to visit them and solve that, I haven't had a chance to do that yet.  Thus, I am backing up to iTunes.
This morning's sync/backup resulted in me losing most of my contacts, and for the contacts that remain, 99% of the phone numbers are gone.  I can recover my calendar entries from this past week, but I don't know how I can recover all of them from my May 2012 backup.
Since I had a backup just last week, I'd like to just go back to it.  But how?  Or, is there another way to get my contacts restored?  And why did they disappear?  And what else may be gone that I just don't know about yet?

Hello, my name is Octavia Hall. I was on the computer and I was just trying to sync/backup all of my games so that way, if I accidentally delete on of my game(s), then i would go on the computer and get it back. Now, for some reason, my games are now gone, how do I get them back?

  • Need to sync/backup original iPhone, so I can upgrade to a 3GS...

Please help. I need to sync/backup an original iPhone, so I can switch to a 3GS. My question has a few parts.
    1. Should I get the latest iTunes version? Does it even support the original iPhone? Or should I try to sync with my current version?
    2. I realize the original is being phased out, but I just need to back it up, without losing everything, so I can upgrade. What is the simplest way to do this?
    3. Is my situation even do-able? (I live nowhere near an Apple Store for help)
    Thanks so much!!

  • My sync/backup isn't working. How do I fix it?

About a month ago my sync/backup status is always "initializing" help.  I found an article in Adobe Photoshop help that recommended three steps to take, 1) set preferences, 2) Change Internet options and 3) contact adobe help with a copy of the sync file. My sync file is not In the location listed in the article.
The only way to share photos is via the "express" uploader, but the tags don't go with the photos.

    Thanks for following up
Actually, I think my back up/sync is working.  However I still see the sync/back up icon on some of my online albums in the right side of the organizer screen.
I can't figure out why some online albums have the icon and some don't.  I've right clicked on each and choose "share" yet the albums situation stays the same with the same albums as before displaying the sync/back up icon.
I purchased an additional online storage, but after adding more photos and video, the amount of storage used hasn't increased.
    Am I going crazy???
    Thanks
    Dave

  • Manual Backup vs Sync Backup

    Hi,
Just a little question, I've had to do a manual backup recently and it took quite a very long time to complete. I've noticed that the backup that occurs before syncing the iPhone (4S ios 8.1 in my case) with Itunes (last version) doesn't take that long, and I would like to know why.
    - Does it just update the last 'sync' backup with new files ?
    - Is it as reliable as a manual backup ?
    - does it takes the same size in my computer ?
    Thanks,
    Matt.
    iPhone 4S, iOS 8.1.2

Look under Edit > Preferences > Devices. There is normally only one backup for each device. If/when you restore a backup to a device the current version of it is used for the restore, the backup set is archived with the date of the restore, and a new rolling backup for that device is created. Whether you refresh the backup manually or via the first sync of the day, the overall size of the backup won't vary much unless you have added lots of new data to the device that would be included. Note that if your device normally backs up to iCloud then it is only backed up to your computer if you instigate a backup manually.
