Sync between iphone and itunes hangs

lately when i sync my iphone with itunes - itunes will hang
it will show sync in progress on the phone and the progress bar at the top of itunes will stop about 3/4's of the way thru
any ideas on what may be the cause or how to fix?

I work at ESPN and just wanted to chime in. We noticed this bug and have already submitted a fix to Apple. We're working with them to get it out asap.
The way scorecenter works has triggered a bug in iTunes itself that Apple is working on separately. Our workaround fix should be available in a few days, tops.

Ringtones Sync between iPhone and ITunes

Dear All,
After the update from IOS 4.3.5 to IOS 5, for some reason I "lost" my ringtones...I bought AGAIN some of them, but now, I continue to have an error, because when I try to sync the iPhone with the iTunes, don't allow me to update the ringtones, which I have in my library to my iPhone.
I have in my library 21 ringtones, and appear in my iPhone 23 ringtones, which one of them appear 3 times!!!! The same ringtone appear in the iPhone 3 times!!!
I already went into iTunes and and uncheck the ringtones, Then sync it again. After the ringtones "apparently" should be off of my phone (which dont' happen), then check the Ringtone box again and sync the phone again, and should appear the same ringtones in the iTunes and in the iPhone, but unfortunatelly don't happen!!!
I would like if you have seen something similar and how I can do or if I am made some mistake.
I appreciate very much your help.

Application sync between iphone and itunes

Hi,
created an apple account. Downloaded my first free app. Tried to sync it with my iphone. Told me I needed to authorize the computer, which I did.
Now when I try to think my iphone app from itunes it tells me that the computer is not authorized and propose to authorize it. If I do so it tells me that the computer is already authorized. I removed the computer authorization and tried again from scratch with no success. It won't think my app with the iphone. I read the sync topic on apple support but that didn't help. Don't know what to do. If anyone has an idea I would be grateful.
I use itunes ver 9.0.2.25 and iphone ver 3.1.2 (on iphone 3G).

Ok, it appears that your authorizations are messed up between your computer & phone. Let's try starting over from the beginning.
Launch itunes, do not connect your phone, delete the app from your applications folder. Next, since your on windows, go up to Edit > Preferences > Syncing Tab> Reset Sync History. Next, under that same preferences tab, check "parental" & make sure there are no restrictions. Once done, reboot your computer. After the reboot, launch itunes, re-download that same app, pay attention to the popup that appears, it will have your apple ID & a blank spot for your password. Enter your password. Now, go to your phone, check Settings>Store, make sure you are signed in, if you are, you'll see your apple ID(email address) & a button labled "Sign Out". Make sure this ID matches the same ID you used to purchase the app. If you're not signed in, sign in. Then, reset your phone: Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the apple logo(ignor the slide to power off). Once complete, check again to make sure you're still signed in to your itunes account. Next check: Settings>General>Restrictions, make sure you see "off" next to restrictions.
Now, connect your phone with itunes running, make sure there is a check in the box next to the application you want on your phone. Hit apply & sync. See if this fixes the issue.

HT1386 Auto sync between iPhone and iTunes won't turn off

Somehow my iPhone still starts to autosync with itunes on connecting, despite the option 'Prevent iPhones etc from autosyncing' in Preferences being checked (and saved!). Highly annoying. Why does it ignore this setting and how can I REALLY turn it off?

When that happens you have to have iTunes restore the device.

Curious... Syncing Issues Between iPhone and iTunes?

Just curious... the past several months I have noted various concerns around "syncing" between iPhone and iTunes... yet don't recall any mention of whether it occurs between MAC OS or WIN hardware (desktops and or laptops). Furthermore, I am interested if anyone can comment whether these sync issues occurs mostly on TIGER or LEOPARD OS when accessing iTUNES. (Guess I should pay more attention to the noted OS field.
I ask because I am considering an upgrade to LEOPARD by end of month and don't want to jeopardize my syncing to my iPhone if it is a LEOPARD related issue. Thank you

I'm running Leopard and I've never experienced any sync issues.
These discussions include mostly problems, which is what these discussions are for - a user to user support forum for technical support issues and questions.
Which particular issue are you referring to?
Before installing a major OS X upgrade such as Leopard over a previous OS X version, it is a good idea to create or update your existing backup of important data stored on your computer's hard drive - including your iTunes library, photos, contact info, calendar events, documents, etc. I've never experienced any problems installing a major OS X upgrade over a previous OS X version, but I always update my computer's backup immediately beforehand to be on the safe side.

Just guessing here...
Any sharing is probably a result of being logged in with the same Apple ID on both devices.
For apps/music: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads OFF.
For iCloud: Settings > iCloud > Delete Account.
For iMessage: Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.

Why is iMessage not synced between iPhone and MacBook Pro

wny are my iMessages no longer synced between iphone and macbookpro? I get the imessage but only with phone number not name of the person and I don't know people's phone numbers. It used to be synced but no more. Thanks

Sync problem between iPhone and iTunes (Music&Books)

Hello, I have a synchronization problem between the macbook and iPhone 5S. On the macbook I've Maverik updated and also the Iphone is updated.
First problem: the timing so long, especially at the step of applications, compared to when it was fast, applications have not changed.
Second problem: the music, I flagged "synchronizes the selected music" but all the flags on the selected artists are missing, despite what the music is on iPhone . I tried to flag again on itunes but all song was duplicate in Iphone.
Third problem: the books, it happens the same music.
The problem does not occur with the photo with the ringtones and videos.
I've tried everything from simple restart of the mac and the iPhone, checked and updated macbook, iPhone and itunes. Repaired permissions on the mac.
What can I do?

Ciao, da un po' di giorni ho un problema di sincronizzazione fra il macbook e l' Iphone 5S. Sul macbook ho Maverik aggiornato e anche il telefono non JB è aggiornato.
Primo problema: la sincronizzazione dura tanto, sopratutto allo step delle applicazioni, rispetto a quando era veloce le applicazioni non sono cambiate.
Secondo problema: la musica, ho flaggato "sincronizza la musica selezionata" ma sono spariti tutti i flag sugli artisti selezionati, ciò nonostante la musica è presente sull' iphone. Ho provato a riselezionarli e me li duplica tutti.
Terzo problema: i libri, succede la stessa della musica.
Il problema non si manifesta con le foto con le suonerie e i video.
Ho provato di tutto a partire dal semplice riavvio del mac e del telefono, controllato e aggiornato macbook, telefono e itunes. Riparato permessi sul mac.
Cosa posso fare?

Documents not syncing between iPhone and iPad

I am encountering the most strange difficulty with iCloud, particularly Documents in the Cloud and the syncing of Numbers and Pages documents between iPad and iPhone. I do not use Keynote.
I will try and describe the problem in as much detail as possible and explain everything I have tried to do.
My goal is for documents I create on iPad to sync to iPhone, and vice versa, with changes appearing on both, and on iCloud.com. To clarify I'm not involving the Mac in anyway, I am aware this is a current limitation of Documents in the Cloud. Unless I'm missing something, what I want to do is what is advertised.
- I am running the latest version of iOS on both iPad and iPhone.
- I have the latest versions of Keynote and Pages on both.
- I am logged in to iCloud on both iPad and iPhone with the same account
- iCloud is working fine for all other purposes (Bookmark sync, PhotoStream etc)
- Documents and Data is switched on, as is the option for Using Cellular Data
- Use iCloud is set to ON under Pages and Keynote preferences
- The arrow indicating a cloud document is on every document on both iPad and iPhone's icon, in the top right of each icon
- In iCloud -> Storage & Backup -> Manage Storage -> Documents & Data -> Numbers it displays all the expected documents.
The current behaviour appears to be that I create a document on either device, and the document is PARTIALLY uploaded to iCloud. That is, it appears on iCloud.com under iWork, but when I click on any file it either says "Upload failed" or "Waiting" for each file.
If I try and delete a document on iWork.com, it crashes the web app and does not delete the documents.
Things I have tried to resolve:
- Uninstalling and reinstalling Numbers and Pages on both devices
- Soft resetting both devices
- Disabling and re enabling Documents in the Cloud on both devices
- Disabling and re enabling iCloud toggle in the individual app preferences on both devices
- Deleting and readding iCloud account on both devices
- A full restore then restoring from iCloud backup on both devices (yes, I actually did that)
- A combination of the above in various sequence orders, none of which made any difference
More information... one solution on the web pointed to the problem involving a duplicate account which could be deleted from the Mail settings, however I only have one configured account - my iCloud account. Just in case it matters, my iCloud email is an @mac.com address.
I think I have covered everything. Any help would be appreciated since Apple themselves seemed pretty stumped on the phone, suggesting another restore, or setting the phone and iPad up as brand new devices. I'd really rather not until I've exhausted every possible outcome.

Pics flow between iPhone and itunes

I want to activate the pics flow between my iPhone and iTunes on the PC. When i click on " pics flow" in options it's ask me an "URL".

I checked again last night, and now iTunes matched the phone settings, saying zero space was available. I had nearly 20 gigs of "Other" data :/
So I erased all settings/data on the iPhone and restored from an iCloud backup from last week, and now everything seems fine, with over 15 GB of available space.

"2 elements were not synchronized. Consult iTunes to know more."

That's what I usually do: I connect my iPhone to my Mac and I sync it.
However, the "11 elements were not synchronized..." only appears on my iPhone. It tells me to look for more information on iTunes, but that's exactly the point: nothing shows on iTunes.

How to synchronise the play status of podcasts between iphone and itunes?

I am annoyed now for a few months about the disfunctional synchronizing between my iphone and itunes when it's about the play status of podcasts.
I get new podcasts in every new day and i play many, so it's essential to see immediately which are new and which i have listened to or have half-listened.
This functionality was there when podcasts were still played in the Music app on the iphone, but now it's moved to a podcast app, it doesn't. Weird.
I run the most recent software and the hardware is fine. If you have any to get around the daily manual synchronisation, please let me know.

Hi Jim - thanks so much for your detailed & helpful reply. I actually do already have those columns shown in my playlist views - my problem is that I don't believe what they are showing!
For instance, out of my c.13k tracks, my smart playlists count:
Matched - 42
Ineligable - 46
Purchased - 15
Not Matched - 121
Uploaded - 27
Error - 13,060
When I first started using Match it spent several days uploading tracks, and now is having another incremental go, and showing 325 of 1464 Uploaded.
Ah - that's interesting - I just looked at my 'iCloud Matched' playlist on my iPhone, and it says there are 11,876 tracks in it, even though iTuns on my MacBookpro shows 42! But then my iPhone also shows 11,876 in the 'iCloud Error' list. And in my 'Ineligble' list. And my 'Purchased' list...so who knows! Which was the thinking behind my original query.
But I do appreciate your reply Jim, which has been helpful even with the above situation.

Sync Apps between iPhone and ITunes before install of IOS6?

I use an IPhone 4. I always purchase my apps directly from the IPhone, and never from my computer.
The consequence is that there is no sync whatsoever between the actual screens/folders/apps on the IPhone and what is displayed on ITunes, in the TAB "apps".
Last year, when I installed IOS 5, I killed all my apps on the IPhone, and it took weeks to re-install my apps and the folders.
I am not prepared to suffer this exercise again, and I am even considering to skip the install of IOS 6 to avoid this pain.
How can I mirror the content of my IPhone such that the apps and the folders content/position actually present in the phone are memorized in Itunes?
Your help would be much appreciated.

Now I have a new question. How do I delete apps from the list that I do NOT want to install?

Problems syncing podcasts between iPhone and iTunes

I have just upgraded from an iPhone 3gs to an iPhone 4s. However I am now experiencing problems sycing podcasts through iTunes. When I have played a podcast on the iPhone and then sync it still shows as unplayed on iTunes. The played podcasts also remain on the iPhone after the sync even though I have set it to only sync unplayed podcasts.
Appreciate any advice - this has only started happening since getting the iPhone 4s (it worked perfectly on the 3gs).

Will iBooks sync between iPhone and iPad with non-iCloud Apple ID?

I have two Apple IDs. One is an email address that I've used for all my iTunes purchases. The other is a .Mac account that I've had for I think ten years. The .Mac account has, of course, been converted to an iCloud account. I got an iPad recently and have bought some books from the iBooks store using my non-iCloud Apple ID. I have books on both my iPad and iPhone and have Sync Bookmarks and Sync Collections enabled on both devices. Both devices are connected to my iCloud account. But the two devices don't sync. Is this because my purchases were made with my non-iCloud account? Is there any way to get them to sync?

I don't think you are missing anything...
On the iOS devices tap Settings > iCloud. Switch Photo Stream off then back on then reset the devices.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
See if your photos sync now between the PC, iPad, and iPhone.
