Sync boss rc50 to Logic (tempo)

Hi,
I've searched around with no luck so thought I would try here.
I have a Boss RC50 looper and would like to sync it to Logic.  In Logic, I setup Midi Clock in the synchronization section and RC50 is set to receive midi.  I have a Motu Tiempiece and connected Midi out to Midi in on the RC50.  When I hit play in Logic, in theory, the Boss should catch the tempo and start playing back.  I was able to do this easily with Ableton Live but not with Logic.  Can anyone help me out!
Thanks!

Thank you! I will go home tonight and try your
suggestion. I am not sure if I understand setting up
the "environment" for midi, but will accept any and
all suggestions and advice!
In fact, if anyone lives near Melville, New York, I
would compensate them for a few hours of private
tutoring!
Thanks again.
Fred
I can be there tonight! Well not me exactly
but a video I did that will get your motif
listening to Logic. I have two videos
that I recently made on setting up the multi
instrument object in the environment. It is
helpful to be able to see what is going
on when someone is telling you about it.

  • Reason beat tempo not syncing with Logic Tempo???

    Hi,
Made a beat in Reason 5
Exported loop at 137 bpm and saved to external hard drive.
Imported loop into Logic with Logic tempo set at 137 bpm.
Set the metronome on for recording. Pressed record and and beat & metronome are out of sync.
I used beat detection to try find the tempo (said it was 137.1672 or something) yet still the metronome & beat go out of sync...
    Any ideas?
I'm going to try saving the beat to the internal harddrive and see if that is the problem.
The external hard drive is USB not firewire.
    Hope you can help me...

to bring your reason audio into logic in perfect sync, open reason as a rewire slave to logic and set up a logic aux track input to reason L&R. Set your locators in logic to the loop length and bounce (with "add to audio bin" enabled so its easy to drag it into your song). This locks the 2 clocks together. Which drive your audio is on is irrelevant.

  • How to time stretch a 2 bar audio loop to fit logic tempo, please help

hi, i can match the logic tempo to fit the audio loop ok.
But say if i have a song which is 84.7153 tempo.
I have a 2 bar audio loop that i want to incorporate. The audio loop is a little faster than my logic tempo, so i just want it to fit exactly in two cycled logic bars.
Ive just managed to do it pretty close, in recycle, manually.
But can i do this in logic? Audio factory or something?
Ive been using logic for years, and ive never exlplored logics audio depths.
    can someone help?
    thankyou.

    Use the Apple Loops Utility
    http://www.digimixstudios.net/sd1al/
In my 3rd video here, I show how to use the Apple Loops Utility. Very simple.
The 4th video shows bringing the apple loop I just created, into a Logic 8 project.
Notice how I change the tempo and the apple loop stays within the 4 bar beat.

  • Syncing Battery 3 with Logic Pro 7

I'm new to Logic Pro and let me just say that this is the best production prog I have ever used..
That aside.. I've had Battery 3 for sometime now and would like to learn how to sync it up with Logic..
Can someone explain how to do this?
I also have FM8.. will that sync up as well?
I've never sync up 2 apps b4.. so be gentle when explaining.
    Thanks in advance!
    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Open Logic
    open arrange window
select or create an Audio Instrument track (not an Audio track)
On the left side of the screen above the fader control you will see 2 input and output slots (it has "I/O" above it)
The top one is the input slot. Click hold til you get a pull down menu.
    Select Stereo>AU Instruments> Native Instruments>Battery
The battery window will open just like using it as stand alone. Select your kit. Anything you write/play/record to that track will play with that drum kit sounds
If you can't see Battery 3 then you may be using an Intel Mac but not have the Universal Binary upgrade for Battery installed.

  • Syncing an MPC1000 to Logic

I am looking into buying one but am unsure on how to sync it to Logic. I do not have a MIDI converter - do i need one? Or can it sync to Logic via the USB connection?

    Hi Craig,
this subject has been discussed here numerous times during the last couple of months, although for the MPC 2500 and the MPC 2000.
May I suggest, that you initiate a search in this forum for "MPC" or MPC 2500".
This will help you to see that it is indeed possible to sync the MPC to Logic.
A simple MIDI interface is highly recommended. Something like USB MIDIsport 2x2 from M-Audio is all you need for your purpose.

  • Syncing AkaiPro Mini to Logic's tempo

Just bought the Akai Mini http://www.akaipro.com/mpkmini for it's flexible arpeggio feature. It's supposed to be able to allow the tempo in Logic to determine the tempo of the arpeggio, but I can't figure out how to make that happen. The manual, naturally, doesn't make this clear at all. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks...

For the record, I found the answer on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck1OOXEOY3Q
As he explains, you have to
Go into the Logic project's "Settings."
    Select "Syncronization."
    Select the "MIDI" tab
Then, next to "Transmit MIDI Clock", check "Destination 1" and use the pulldown menu to choose your device, in my case the MPK Mini. See pic below...
In other words, it's not enough to tell the MPK Mini to use an external clock (which you do through it's Editor software). You have to tell that clock (in this case, Logic's) to send it's signal to the MPK Mini. The "conversation" has to go both ways...
This was helpful to me. Hope it's of some use to others!
Hat tip to http://www.youtube.com/user/Chillerman345 for his clear and concise tutorial.

  • Reason resets Logic tempo?  Help!

I'm having a serious problem using Reason 4 re-wired to Logic 8 (Logic is the host). As you know, in order to launch Reason in ReWire mode, you first must start the Logic application, then launch Reason. What is happening is when I have a project open in Logic, then launch Reason, Reason automatically opens a default, empty project, whose tempo happens to be set to 120 BPM. When this project opens, it is resetting the tempo of my Logic project to 120 BPM. Then when I open the correct Reason file (saved previously at 123 BPM, say), it too resets to 120 BPM (due to Logic now hosting that tempo in its project).
This is obviously a disaster, especially if you don't catch it right away. (With audio tracks involved it knocks all the MIDI and audio out of sync, for starters).
Part of the problem is there is an obvious inconsistency: when Reason opens its default 120 BPM project, it is setting Logic's tempo according to the saved Reason file. But when I open the proper Reason project, it doesn't set Logic's tempo a second time (thus correcting the previous error).
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a setting in either Logic or Reason to prevent it from happening?

never forget to sign the bpm tempo before open Reason...
Reason with CB4 and PT works fine...
but I know why this happen only with reason + Logic
it is another evidence that confirm my point
Logic Pro is the Killer of all other DAWs
    it is the most advanced....
we can only sympathize with these obvious attempts to sabotage .... (which can create alarms to disseminate alleged Logic-bugs report)
    but... please.. trust me
This is NOT a Logic bug!
we are waiting for a rewire engine update for long, long time!!! (Mac OS 9 and Reason 1.0 was fine with Logic 4 un the year 1999)
( we need a downgrade of rewire engine)
That is why I use Iacbus for sync Logic with Reason
I always avoid to use rewire...
I prefer export reason as Audio and use Audio in Logic

  • Sync to beat in Logic Pro  when remixing

I am doing a remix of an AIF file of a old tape original. The tempo varies dramatically... Can I assign new parts to sync to beat over the original AIF file, denying the grid and tempo settings?
I know there is some way to do this. I was cutting and matching manually - A TOTAL PAIN.
    Thanks

I'm not sure I follow your words Fuzzynormal. You've helped by offering the insight that my issue in Logic Pro 9 is not a bug but a feature. But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. Then you think that Brazeca is holding my hand and being a nice guy. Brazeca is helping people like me who might not be as adept at using Logic Pro as probably you are. This community forum was established to raise questions, answers and dicussion to help Apple's customers better undertand their operating systems and related issues. You are doing a disservice by not contributing positively and by trying to make this forum what you want it to be. You may have all the time in the world to try figuring out stuff but we are not all like you. We all have different schedules and different levels of understanding. And that is what this forum is for - to help people move forward. If you can't contribute positively then keep silent. And by the way, you say to "read the words that are printed down to explain to you how that works" what words are you talking about? Why don't you be of some help instead of trying to own this forum.

  • Re: Syncing a synth to Logic

    Hi all,
I have the micro korg syth, been trying to figure out how to synch it so that 1. I can write midi into logic and have it play on the micro korg. 2. I can have the delay and arpeggiator (and other time based effects) will synch to my project tempo.
Any help would be huge.... been trying to figure it out but I'm new... and I suck with routing in the environment.

  • Check Constraint names aren't synced when engineering to logical

Just learned about this tool at OOW and ran into an issue involving check constraint names being compared but not synced when engineering from the relational model to the logical model. When I set the constraint names in the logical model (and perform one last "Engineer to Logical Model") after that the compare dialog shows the table and entities match. Is this a bug?
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. importing a relational data model from data dictionary which contains a table with a column level check constraint
    2. perform "Engineer to Logical model" to produce the logical model
    Issue:
Perform another "Engineer to Logical model" which will show the table with the column level check constraint as being out of sync with the logical model's equivalent entity, when you drill down into the diff in the compare dialog box you see the check constraint name has a value in the relational model and the name is null in the logical model
    Verify:
Looking in logical model at the constraint (<Entity>/Attributes/Attribute Properties/Default and Constraint/Constraint Name) the value is empty
    Work Around:
Set the constraint name in the spot from verify above and perform "Engineer to Logical model" twice. The first time it will show the same issue, the second time it will show the table and entity match

    Hi Bo,
thanks for feedback. It's fixed now and you'll get the fix in version 3.0.
Another( probably better workaround) - in engineering dialog - "Compare/Copy options" tab - uncheck "Don't use for new objects" option.

  • Syncing two macbooks with logic pro

I have two macbooks from 2007. Both have logic pro 8 on them. I'm scoring to film but neither machine can run the video and audio together without having
serious audio skipping and video freezing. My Question is can I sync the two machines together where one machine is used for composing/scoring and the other just playsback the video in sync with the audio? I can't afford a new computer with a processor that could handle these tasks together so I'm hoping that this option would suffice.

I think Logic Node might help with your processing issues.  Essentially you can link your computers over a gigabit ethernet cable to divide up the load.  I happen to have Logic Pro 9 so it might not work the same for the previous version.  Consult your manual and see if that could help you out.  Best of luck : )

  • Syncing roland 303 with Logic Audio 6.1

I am trying to sync my roland tb303 with Logic 6.1 in OS9. I have turned on the midi clock under song settings/midi and am using a midi/sync converter between my mt4 midi box & 303 but the 303 does not run. Any suggestions ??

OK. The sync output dialog is under file/song settings/synchronization. Select the MIDI tab (looks like a file folder, NOT the little icon at the top)Then you can check the "transmit MIDI clock destination 1" box. Usually you can get away with selecting "All" on the pull down menu and not worrying about which port goes where, but some older MIDI gear freaks out if it sees MIDI clock. If you have to just select the proper port from the list. If you have the MIDI out from the computer to the MIDI in on your sync box you should be good to go!

  • Syncing an Ipad with Logic

I would like to know how to link an IPad with logic pro 9
    Tanks!

Don't believe this is supported, but if there is not an option to export direct to your iTunes library, import the export with iTunes and transfer to your iPad via the iTunes sync process.

  • Sync issues with new Logic Controller for iPad / New Logic

Downloaded the new version of Logic for mac and the new controller for iPad today.
The iPad more often than not fails to see that Logic is running on the network and just hangs. If you open and close the controller on the iPad sometimes it will then boot up and go straight to the fader page.
However, it has limited functionality. The faders and transport appear to be working ok, but there's NO LEVEL INFORMATION being sent back to the iPad. So you can control the faders and everything, but there's no bouncing audio levels, not even on the mix bus. It looks like nothing is playing, apart from the fact you can see the transport ticking through the bars.
    Something seriously amiss here.
(iPad 2, worked fine before, never had a problem with it...)

Quit the Logic Remote App.. (Don't just close it but quit it..)
    http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/28/quit-apps-in-ios-7/
Delete Logic's CS (Control Surfaces) file
    Quit Logic Pro
In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
    Restart the computer.
If you cannot find this file you have not followed the instructions exactly as described!
Now Launch Logic Remote on your iPad and reconnect....
    Test....
Note: If you use any other external control surfaces you will need to re-add those too...

  • Drumloop syncing problems: is this Logic, or something else?

This is a serious problem, and one I've not experienced before. I'm writing a piece with drumloops playing off of one of my Mac slaves. All my slaves are connected via ethernet and most of the MIDI connections are handled by Apple's MIDI/Audio network, and generally perform flawlessly. However, on this piece, I have Stylus playing one loop, Storm Drum playing another (both sometimes triggering more than one loop in a multi patch), and MOTU Ethno Instruments playing a couple of rhythm instrument loops. Nothing heavy duty going on here, and in the past I've created far more loop-intensive tracks, with no syncing issues. However, here, the loops are sliding around, all over the place: nothing is staying tight at all. It's puzzling, because apart from those rhythm elements, the track is very lean: a two or three Omnisphere tracks (one a synth "sequencer" rhythm), a couple of Symphobia patches,, plus percussion, brass and strings punctuation, from other slave machines and the host computer, and that's about it.
If I solo the drum parts, they stay perfectly in sync: even two of them playing are OK. But put the whole thing together and there's chaos. I've never had this before, though, on occasions, Albino has refused to "lock up" and required several replays before syncing successfully.I've restarted all computers, with no luck, and even unplugged/ reconnected the ethernet connectors, going into the switcher. Nothing. The other weird thing is, the previous day, everything seemed to be behaving perfectly: until the end of the day, that is, when I noticed things starting to "go out".
Can anyone shed any light as to why this might be happening please? There really shouldn't be any syncing problems with so little going on in the track. Thanks

...because that's where the software happens to be installed! I've installed things with a careful purpose, and it's not really failed me yet. The arrangement is currently lean:that will change. My point was to illustrate the current status of the piece, not the final trackcount; if it's troublesome now it's not going to improve with more tracks playing. It's clearly not a cpu issue, I mean, and the external stuff is all synced to external/master, as it should be.
Most of the time I'm working on large-scale orchestral mockups, so things have to be distributed over numerous computers to serve the purpose: I have the EXS loaded up to the hilt with stuff (really must get more RAM installed on the host). Bear in mind that much software is limited to 2 installation locations (particularly NI), and I'm not about to pay for additional licenses, when 2 are generally sufficient. Anyway, I can see no reason why running loops off a slave should cause such problems, and in the past it's not been an issue. I might install RMX on the master Mac, though, to see if that makes a difference, because Spectrasonics are generous with their installations.
