Sync Camera Roll on iPhone with iPhoto

I have too many pictures on my phone.   With iTunes, I synced them over to iPhoto, all 1023.   I want to delete them in iPhoto as I can see the picture much better and know which ones to delete.  In iTunes, the settings are,  I have Sync all photos from itunes checked and all photos,,,, and include videos checked.
I delete several pics from iPhoto, sync and they are still on my phone.  I want them to be deleted from my phone and the iPhoto to be exactly what is on my phone and vice versa.
I must have the concept wrong of what I'm trying to do.
Thanks for your help

You do not sync photos from the iPhone to the computer via iTunes and iPhoto. You import photos from the phone to the computer either via iPhoto or other import utility. With the Mac I believe it is some type of capture program.
When you are clicking on the photo tab in iTunes with the phone selected and sync photos, then you are putting the photos back on the phone, only you are putting them into different albums, not the Camera Roll. I'm guessing that you want to delete pictures from the Camera Roll on the phone. That is usually done by the photo import utility that you are using. You import to the computer and delete from the Camera Roll. Again, I believe this can be done by a single setting in iPhone. See this support document for help with that. iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
If you are syncing the photos, the only way to remove them is also through the sync process. See this support document regarding sync. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
If you do not delete the photos as you import them, then you will need to find a different way to delete them from the phone, possibly through Finder.

  • Duplicated pictures when sync camera roll from iPhone to iTunes

    Dear all,
    2 issues:
    1. When I sync my iPhone to iTunes and iPhoto opens (if there are pictures on the camera roll not yet imported), the non-imported pictures appear to be duplicated.
It is obviously quite annoying as I have to go through and delete the second image manually. Does anyone know how to sort this? I don't have HDR switched on. I have tried un-clicking sync iPhone over wifi, syncing and then clicking it back on again and syncing. Both these issues only started when I upgraded to my iPhone 6.
    2. My iPhone refuses to sync over wifi. Occasionally the icon of the iPhone appears in iTunes, but that is very sporadic when it choses to and not. When it appears to be in iTunes I click sync and it says an error message of sync not possible and then the iPhone disappears from iTunes and I have to plug it in with cable.
I have spent in excess of 12 hours discussing this with various Senior technical support teams members at Apple who display enthusiasm about trying to help me until the point in which they go home for the day and then thy do not bother keeping to their ringback appointment so it all has to start again from scratch with a different person.
Suggestions made: Replace handset: Done. Try connecting your computer to router via cable: Hilarious, but done. Restore iPhone: Done. Technical data sent to apple: Done, but never got called back at agreed appointment to discuss results.
So I am throwing this issue out to the community.
From a very exasperated iPhone 6 user!

You should be importing these to your computer regulalry as you would from any digital camera.

  • Sycning Camera Roll from iPhone into iPhoto '11?

I was wondering if there was anyway to sync the Camera Roll from my iPhone 4 to my iPhoto Library?

Plug in the Phone. Launch iPhoto (if it doesn't launch automatically) and import.

  • Save (or Sync) Camera Roll from iPhone to my "My Pictures" on my computer.

I had some issues with the 2.0.1 update and had to restore my iPhone from a different computer. Then I hooked my iPhone backup to my main computer and was going to restore from my backup, however, iTunes immediatly performed a backup of my iPhone (Newly Restored) so I lost my settings.
I have taken a lot of photos on my iPhone and now lost all of them except for the ones I've emailed or sent to MobileMe. I must say that it is a bit of a pain if I have to send each picture to MobileMe one at a time.
Is there a way when I sync my iPhone that it will automatically write the photos on cameral roll to a folder I specify in "My Pictures" on my computer? If not, this should be something that is included in a next update.
Also, I would like the ability to send multiple photos in an email.
    Thanks!

This is an issue I've had myself. It is rather irritating that I can sync up other photos from my computer TO my iPhone, but not anything in the Camera Roll folder. Ive read the argument that the phone is being treated as a digital camera in this case and that adding functionality to a program isn't all that easy, but I really don't buy either of these arguments in this case.
For one thing, iTunes already knows how to sync jpeg photos between my computer and my PC. I can put any folder containing jpeg images ONTO my iPhone through the sync mechanism in iTunes. The iPhone is saving the images as jpegs in the Camera Roll folder (I'm extrapolating this by virtue of the fact that when I email an image from Camera Roll, it attaches a jpeg image). By extension, it should just be a matter of making the Camera Roll folder accessible from the Photos sync. Camera data is usually stored in the tags of a file, which shouldn't be lost when transferring files back and forth. And if it is, just give me a little warning and let me choose.
So, as far as I'm concerned, iTunes already knows how to do this. Why is the functionality not included? I am able to use Windows Explorer to copy files like I would from any digital camera, but why should I have to do that when iTunes syncs everything else.

  • How to disable the message that pops up every time i connect my iphone "photos in the camera roll of iphone cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode"?

Wrongly posted in iPhoto forum, should probably be posted here instead.
I want to remove the message that pops up every time i connect my IPhone that says: "Photos in the Camera Roll of "Name" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode.".
This computer is not one that I want to import photos to (or sync with the iPhone), so this message is just very annoying, and it pops up all the time. I cannot find a way to disable this message. It is constantly appearing. No application is launching, I have turned off the iPhoto launch in the Image Capture app as well as in iPhoto. Thanks in advance if anyone has any information about this.

Because your computer sees your phone, as it would see any digital camera, as long as you have photos in your camera role. Since you state you don't sync with this computer & have a passcode on your phone, that's why you get that message. The only way to prevent that message is either start syncing with this computer; remove the photos from your camera roll prior to connecting; or first turn off your passcode before you connect. Either that, or you live with it.
You shouldn't be storing photos in your camera roll anyway. iPhone camera roll is not designed for photo storage. You should be regularly importing them.

The "link related" and "text related" crashes were what I interpretted here, too, though I'm at a loss on how to proceed given that this is a fresh system and applications.  This is happening with multiple InDesign projects in a design office environment where many others work on the same files and none of the other computers are having problems with these files.  I've removed the same files listed (thank you for those) before and did so effectively with creating the new user account to test with, but it had no effect.  I just tried again though, as these files could easily have becone corrupt again if they were being written to when InDesign crashed.  Will let you know if that makes any difference.  I've also gone through and completely cleaned out the fonts again and once more cleared the font caches.  If need be I'll reboot this system into safe mode and try that way.
    Best,
    Mike

Mike whether I create a folder within the Pictures Folder that iTunes uses to sync photographs or just copy them into the main folder the result is the same, I end up with Photo Library plus another album containing an identical set of pictures as contained in Photo Library.
The User Manual for iOS5 states ...
You can create, rename, and delete albums on iPhone to help you organize your photos and videos.
Create a album: When viewing albums, tap Edit, then tap Add. Select photos to add to the new album, then tap Done. Note: Albums created on iPhone aren’t synced back to your computer.
Rename an album Tap Edit, then select an album.
Rearrange albums Tap Edit, then drag up or down.
Delete an album Tap Edit, then tap the delete sign.
Yes I can Add a new Album, but cannot delete an album already created. The delete sign does not appear.
In iTunes the only folder that I can see listed is the man one into which iTunes stores pictures, which I have named iPhone Photos.
When I look on my PC this iPhone Photos folder contains another folder named iPod Photo Cache and a multitude of folders created by iTunes, the named F00, F01,F02 etc etc. and a Photo Database file.
Now whether I create a seperate folder within iPhone Photos to store my favourite photos in, or just copy them all into the iPhone Photos folder without being encased within another folder, or create a folder inside the iPod Photo Cache folder the result is the same ...
I end up with Photo Library plus another album containing an identical set of pictures as contained in Photo Library.
I am going around in ever decreasing circles here and getting nowhere fast!!

  • Camera Roll on iphone 4S doesn't show up on ipad2

Camera Roll on iphone 4S doesn't show up on ipad2, I have icloud on on both devices, in settings have icloud sharing turned on. Ther is no sync command. Oh, do I have to go through itunes to accomplish this? I thought that if it was turned on on both devices, any photo on one would automatically be available on the other and vice versa. What am I missing?

The camera roll doesnt sync with anything.
The camera roll is where the devices pictures are store when you use the camera.
Your options are to use iPhoto (if you are Mac based) to import the pictures on your computer or enable Photostream so that new pictures added to the camera roll are also copied up to the 'cloud'.

  • Can't sync camera roll to new phone

I have a 3G and just bought a 3GS. I have almost everything transferred over except the camera roll. It won't sync the camera roll and I can't drag-and-drop the pictures onto the new phone. How can I put the old camera roll photos on the new camera roll? Using Windows 7.

Photos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup or should be and the only way to transfer these photos from the Camera Roll on one iPhone to the Canera Roll on another iPhone is by transferring the backup for one iPhone to another.
Photos in the Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Not a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup or your iPhone alone for this data which can be lost or stolen. And importing and removing the photos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete will also reduce your iPhone's backup time, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process.
To have these photos and any other photos that are available on your computer to be available on your iPhone for viewing, transfer the photos to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process which is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync. These photos will be available in your iPhone's Photo Library and can be organized into photo albums or folders on your computer which will be reflected on your iPhone.

  • How to delete photostream folder from camera roll on iphone 4

How to delete photostream folder from camera roll on iphone 4

Since this is a user to user help forum only, no one here knows. If to be included with the next firmware update and a fellow user is privileged to this info in advance, they aren't allowed to say.
If you didn't want a photo or photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone in the first place, why did you transfer the photo or photos? And since you should be syncing your iPhone with iTunes often, what difference does it make? If you need space on your iPhone for some reason, you can delete a movie direct from your iPhond that was transferred from your iTunes library to free up much more space with a single swipe than a few photos that you chose to be transferred from your computer.

  • Putting movies back into the camera roll on iphone 4s

Have some videos that I shot with the iphone 4s, after shooting them I loaded them on my macbook air to free up space on the iphone with iphoto.  I now want to be ablt to reaload them to the iphone so I can edit them with imovie on the iphone.  I am wondering what the fastest way is to get them from iphoto back to the iphone camera roll.  I tried using Itunes, but the movie did not go in the camera roll so I could not open it up in the imovie app on the phone.  Tried a couple of apps that use wifi to transfer from computer to phone but one of the videos will not upload.  Is there an app that lets you transfer the movie back to the camera roll without using itunes?

    Hi,
Try to drag your videos to the iPhone photos folder in iPhoto. Should work.
If it doesn't help, you can always upload your files to dropbox or something similar and later download them on your iPhone.
    Hope it helps.
