Sync cleared iPod of all music

I have been trying to synce new songs on my ipod for two days.  Had no issues before.  Now when I plug it in to MAC it wipes the ipod clean of all the music.  Then when I go to sync again, it says that my ipod is corrupted and I need to restore to factory.  So I restore to factory and try to sync.  First of all it takes over 4 hours to sync when it usually takes less than 30 minutes to synce 7000 songs.  So it finally syncs and then when I go to play music on the ipod like on a playlist, it will play a song and then when it goes to the next it shows only 2 seconds of music but nothing plays and it keeps going to the next song until some music plays.  The album cover is displayed and the song but nothing will play.  I have to fast forward until it has a song that it can play.  It's like the label is there but there is no content.  So I go to synce ipod again and it wipes clean the ipod and I do this all over again.  All the music in my itunes library plays fine, just won't fully synce to ipod and play on the ipod.

Everytime I try to sync it says "songs on the ipod cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected to sync no longer exist." I was wondering if you could help me please as soon as possible.

  • Can't connect to Store or Sync with ipod. All music lost on iPod

Multiple severe problems. Is there any live support anywhere, even if there's a fee? Can't connect to iTunes store on Windows XP, tried to move music to new computer, changed to manual setting to do that, but now, there's no music on the new computer or the iPod and I can't get the music on the library of the old computer to sync with iPod and can't create a backup disc, as I get an unknown error. My 10-year old daughter is in tears. Thanks for any help. Would like to get the music back on the iPod and on the new computer. I authorized it.

There's phone support for iPods and they might be able to help you with iTunes or at least point you in the right direction.

  • I was trying to sync my iPod when all of a sudden I have 6.9 GB of info under the section "other"

I was trying to sync my iPod when all of a sudden I have 6.9 GB of information under the section "other" and I don't know where it came from and because of it I can no longer sync my iPod because there is too much info to fit. How do I get rid of this random information which I can't find any cause for on my iTunes library? Most of my content is audio at 7GB, my video is at .14GB, and I'm up to date in my software, and I have searched my iTunes for this 6.9GB of information and can find nothing that is in there that shouldn't be in there, so where did it come from? Where did it go? And how do I get rid of it? I have a Mac OS X Version10.6.8

"Other" represents data that iTunes can't recognize.  A few hundred mb of other is normal.  The 6.9 gb you have represents corrupted data (maybe from an interrupted sync or some other glitch).
Sometimes, syncing one more song can clear up the extra other.  If not, you'll need to restore your iPod.  Here are the instructions:  Restore:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
You can restore from your iPod backup when asked.

This is called "stealing". You do not have the legal right to give her the music you have in your iTunes library unless you are the copyright holder.
when syncing it it said she had to update her phone software first
That's not quite what it said.  Someone should have paid more attention to the great big warning about the possibility of losing data if the phone wasn't backed up.
We cannot find her new photos. Please help and there was 100 new pics. Is there any way we can get them back. I already have the program Asoftech - but it doesnt seem to register the iphone only C and D drive. Please help!
It restored the backup that was made on your computer 6 months ago, which did not contain those photos. You're wasting your time trying to find them on the phone. They don't exist.
Hopefully, your friend syncs her phone to her own computer on a regular basis. She needs to plug her phone into her computer and restore it from her last backup. That will restore it to the state it was in when the backup was made.
She also needs to get in the habit of extracting the photos on a regular basis, like she would from any other digital camera.

  • HT1495 i synced my ipod and all my data got erased

i synced my ipod and all my data got erased
    wat shud i do?

You need to unsync them from your iPod. Plug it in, go to iTunes, Press your iPod on the screen, either in the sidebar or in the top bar, and check unsync photos. That's the only way to delete those.

  • HT4539 I  am very new to this...how do I sync my ipod to download music?

I am new to this, how do I sync my ipod to download music?

You have iTunes installed on your computer ? If not then you can download it from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you connect your iPod to a USB port on your computer's iTunes then it should appear on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 installed then you can enable the sidebar via control-S on a PC), and then on the right-hand side of iTunes you should be able to select the music that you want to sync to it.

  • I have a new itunes as I have a new laptop with no music on, if I sync my iPod will all my purchused items go?

I want to sync an album onto my iPod but that is the only music I have on my iTunes and i was wandering if I sync my iPod will my purchused items will go. I have about 25 songs that i have purchused and the rest I have got off a few cd's. So will my purchused items go?

    Molly...
Launch iTunes on your new laptop. Then from the menu bar (top of your screen) click Store > Authorize This Computer.
Connect the iPod to your computer. Now from the iTunes menu bar again click File > Transfer Purchases from.
Your purhcased media will be stored in your iTunes library.
Hopefully you still have the CD's if you need to re import that music into iTunes if necessary.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • New itunes wiped ipod of all music

Okay, so... I got a new computer, which has the new iTunes. So I just wanted to add some music to my ipod, EXCEPT when I plugged it in, ALL SEEMED fine with it, I had my music on there (I even made sure my preferences said, Prevent iPods and other devices from automatically syncing.) So, I add some new music onto my ipod and ALL OF A SUDDEN, after I disconnect and unplug it from my computer, my iPod MAGICALLY has NOTHING ON IT. Everything is gone. What the F***? Anyone else have this problem?

See the first section of Corrupt iPod classic. If the media files aren't visible in the hidden folders then it may still be possible to use an unerase/undelete or other file recovery tool.

  • Can't sync 4th gen shuffle, all music is on external hard drive.

    Hi, all.
I am trying to charge and sync an iPod Shuffle, 4th Gen.  My iTunes library is on an external hard drive.  Every time I plug in the shuffle, it says the library cannot be found.  iTunes can't find the library again until I restart the computer.  Seems like it's kicking the hard drive off?  I have no issues with my 4th gen Nano.  Apparently I can't come up with a good way to just search the forums for this, although I'm sure other people have asked.  Help?  Pretty please?

Actually you can store the content on an external hard drive and still sync it to an iPod, but iTunes must know that your content is stored on this external drive and the content must be in iTunes before you can sync it to the iPod.

  • IPod Touch - All Music Lost Without Syncing

Saturday I was listening to music and my iPod Touch (2nd gen) was working fine. It has not been plugged in or synced to the computer at all since then - and now the entire Music library is missing (with the exception of two random albums). It has been plugged in to a wall charged, but not to a computer.
Is this common? How could this have happened, and is it possible to recover this music without repurchasing? It's an 8gb Touch that was full of music. All videos, applications, etc are fine.
The only thing I have done to "try" and recover this data is to turn the iPod Touch off, then back on. No luck.
    Any suggestions?

Additional information: I had my laptop iTunes and iPod Touch set up to sync music manually - it has never been automatically synced. Last week our laptop got a virus on it (PC!) and was wiped clean, the OS re-installed, and iTunes re-installed. The iPod Touch has NOT been connected to that computer again physically. Just thought this might be worth mentioning. It wouldn't wirelessly sync though, would it? Either way, I still have two random albums on my iPod, not purchased recently.
Frustrating, but not a huge deal. Just a lesson in backing up data (can re-load music from cd's, but wanted to avoid if possible).

  • I can't sync my ipod with purchased music on a different computer

I purchased music on a new computer that I have allowed access to for my ipod but now because my library is on my other computer it says this computer is not synced to my ipod so now I can't even sync my purchased music unless I want to erase all of the music on my ipod.  Then if I try to put it back on, all of my songs are on my old computer and it won't let me sync two computers at a time.  Not happy.

  • Since last sync on iPod Touch 1g, music crashes after playing 1st song.

Since the last sync on my iPod Touch 1g, both the 3rd party apps and the music app would crash after opening (music after playing 1st song).  I found a fix online for the apps, but how do I get my music to play again?

I have had a similar hiccups with my 3G ipod touch 64gb after updating it with the new iOS 5.  While syncing in iTunes on my MacBook, the storage bar on the bottom will show that most of the space is taken up with my songs that I want synced from iTunes but when I go to use the iPod touch after ejecting it from the MacBook the songs are listed in a ghost like consistency but the actual files are not there and I can't get any response when I touch the song title or album that I want played.  In fact, when looking at the "About" inquiry screen within the Settings on the ipod touch, it shows that most all of my space is unused.  Where are the phantom files, and why doesn't a synch work as smoothly as before?  Conversely,  my 4G ipod touch works flawlessly, so far, with the new iOS 5. I am afraid that the new iOS 5 isn't ready for prime time when it comes to the 3G ipod touches.  Have any others had a similar problem when it comes to synching music, which used to sync flawlessly without problems, to their 3G ipod touches with the new iOS 5 upgrade?

  • Ipod taking all music and videos of slowly

so far my ipod has taken half my music, 2 episodes of tow and a half men, 1 episode of family guy, and 5 episodes of survivor but not all at once it has come off slowly over the past week
i try to restore it, but it says
your hardware cannot be restored because it is in use with another application
but I bought it new and its on in use with 1 computer
    can anyone help?

Hi! Not really sure what you mean.
Are the entire missing from itunes on your computer or from off of the ipod Classic?
    1. Check you itunes library folder and verify that the entries are missing from the library itself.
    2. If they are present, and just not showing up in itunes, use the add file feature to add them to itunes.
    3. If they are missing off of the classic and are in itunes, do a sync, if you sync all of your music and videos. Check how you sync your movies and videos (all, unwatched)
Any other suggestion I could make, require more information.
    Hope this helps...
