Sync collection to mobile from two computers

I have Lightroom installed on two computers and would like to be able to sync both of them with my ipad. However, when I sync a collection from one, it deletes all collections that were synced from the other computer. Does anyone know how I can get it to allow me to sync collections from both computers at the same time?

You can't do it.
The restriction is that you can only sync from one catalogue, and I think it tells you so if you try to do what you describe. Obviously it would be good to have more flexibility, and one day it might come, but just imagine the complications (two identically-named collections in different catalogues but with different pictures).

  • Syncing the same library from two computers

If I have both computers with the same music for each library, can I somehow sync from both of them?

As Katrina says the iPod family is designed to sync with a single library. I clone my library to a portable drive using SyncToy 2.0, a free tool from MS. I run this both at home & work so that I essentially have three identical copies of my library for backup redundacy, any of which I can use to update my iPods. I use iTunes Folder Watch occasionaly in case I've managed to download, for example, a podcast at one location but overwrite the library with a newer copy updated at the other. It can be done but you need to take considerable care...

  • Sync Music and Podcasts from two computers

I would like to use my home Mac Pro to sync my iTunes music library and my PowerBook to sync podcasts (because I travel quite alot) to my iPhone is this possible?
    Thanks for any suggestions
    Mike

I havent tried it, but I would suspect the answer to be "no". The iPhone can only sync with one media library, and the media does not distinquish between podcasts, music or photos or videos. You can try by not checking podcasts on one computer, but when you try to sync the second computer, the entire media library will likely be replaced.

  • When setting up sync how does sync manage information from two computers? Does it merge the information?

When setting up sync how does sync manage information from two computers? Does it merge the information?

    Hi!
Yes, the way Sync works is that it puts all the Bookmarks together and pushes them to all your devices. Same with History.
You will not loose any information in any of your computers.

  • HT1449 how do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

How do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

An "iTunes account" is an online account you use for buying music, like a bank account.  An iTunes collection is the media you see when you open iTunes. Which do you mean?
If it is two computers, it would also help to know where these are located. Are they on the same local network? If they are, try Home Sharing (and you have control of both and you aren't just trying to get music fro your computer to your friend's computer in another state).  If they are not, you'll have to use an external hard drive or flash drive.
Is this on a PC? Your computer information says Windows but you posted this in the iTunes for Mac forum.

  • Working from two computers

How do folks work from two computers? I use an MBA on the road and out of the office and an iMac at home. Is there a way to sync my site on both computers? Or to download changes to my site onto the other computer? I haven't seen an obvious method for managing the site and keeping it on both computers.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Aaron ~ I haven't used Dropbox, but it offers file syncing and gives you 2GB of storage free. The problem is that iWeb's Domain file is a single unit, so that even if you change just one character on your iWeb site, the whole Domain file will be re-synced — not just the changed page.

  • Syncing iTunes to iphone from 2 computers

I have the same iTunes login name on 2 computers but they both have different music. When I go to select manually manage music it tell me, "The iphone is synced to another iTunes Library. Would you like to erase and sync to this library?" I would like to add songs from both computers as one is my work computer and the other is my personal computer. Is there a way this is possible?

    Sync iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers
Although it isn't possible to sync an Apple device with two different libraries it is possible to sync with the same logical library from multiple computers. Each library has an internal ID and when iTunes connects to your iPod/iPad/iPhone it compares the local ID with the one the device normally syncs with. If they are the same you can go ahead and sync...
I have my library cloned to a small 1Tb USB drive which I can take between home & work. At either location I use SyncToy 2.1 (a Windows tool, Carbon Copy Cloner should do the same job on OS X) to update the local copy with the external drive. I can open either of the local libraries or the one on the external drive and update the media content of my iPhone. The slight exception is Photos which normally connects to a specific folder on a specific machine, although that can easily be remapped to the current library if you create a "Photos" folder inside the iTunes Media folder so that syncing the iTunes folders keeps this up to date as well. I periodically sweep my library for new files & orphans with iTunes Folder Watch (a Windows tool, Doug's Scripts has similar tools) just in case I make changes at one location but then overwrite the library with a newer copy from the other.
As long as your media is organised within an iTunes Music or Tunes Media folder, in turn held inside the main iTunes folder that has your library files (whether or not you let iTunes keep the media folder organised) each library can access items at the same relative path from the library folder so the library can be at different drives/paths on different machines. This solution ensures I always have adequate backups of my library and I can update my devices whenever I can connect to the same build of iTunes.
When working with an iPhone earlier builds of iTunes would remove any file not physically present in the local library, even if there was an entry for it, making manual management practically redundant on the iPhone. This behaviour has been changed but it will still only permit manual management with a library that has the correct internal ID. If you don't want to sync your library between machines on a regular basis just copy the iTunes Library.itl file from the current "home" machine to any other you want to use, then clean out the library entires and import the local content you have on that box. Alternatively see this thread which describes how to clone your LibraryPersistentID.

  • Is there any way to work on one Catalog from two computers simultaenously?

Is there any way to work on one Catalog from two computers simultaenously?
I have a catalog with 7000 images we have to process / crop / etc. and I was trying to find a way that two of us could work on the images at the same time.
    Thanks!

No, the LR catalog is not multi user capable (and cannot reside on a network share without tricks). What you could do is
export part of the catalog (a subset of all images) into a separate catalog ("Export as Catalog", without exporting the negatives)
work on different images in the two catalogs at the same time
re-import ("Import from Catalog") the exported work after adjustments on it is finished

  • [HELP] I use Skype from two computers and i notice...

Sorry for reposting this topic, but it didn't appear on the forum.
    Hey there.
I use skype from two computers.
Last week i blocked a contanct from computer1 and yesterday i unblocked it from the same computer.
So i noticed that after i unblocked this contact, it still appears at my homepage with his picture, info and everything, BUT only from computer1.
When i use computer2, this contact appears at my contacts, but only with his skype name (the one he uses to log in) and not with his display name. Also, i can't see his picture or any other information. It just appears offline, with his log-in name and with no picture. That's all.
So what's going on? Why can i see everything normally from computer1 but not from computer2?
P.S.1 99% he blocked me too, but i have no idea whether he unblocked me or not.
P.S.2 I know my english is horrible, sorry for that.

  • I have two apple ids somehow, probably from two mobile and two computers - how do I merge them into one account so they all work with iCloud?

Somewhere, somehow, between two mobile and two macs, I ended up with two apple ids. I figured that this was the root of my problem to syncing. So, I am syncing Mail, Contacts, etc through the one account that I bought storage on this year in iCloud. I want to merge the two accounts, since many of my apps were purchased with my other id. Apparently, Keynote will not merge files since the app was bought with the second id, not the id I am using for icloud.
What to do??? I read, in the forums, that I am definitely not alone. I always had the id I used for the Apple Store to buy iTunes items, and then apps. The other id, that I am using for iCloud was based on my iDisk id, and apparently I set up as a separate account. The much failed iDisk account appears to be the one that I wish I never got involved with. Should I feel the same way about iCloud. If I cannot merge the two APPLE accounts from the same person (ME!!!), then many dropbox really is the answer for my file sharing needs.
    Please help me decide.

To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
To go back to your question; you cannot merge accounts, but perhaps using one account for iCloud and the other for iTunes will resolve the majority of the reasons you needed to merge to begin with.

  • Is it possible to sync to/from two computers but only sync from a third (no upload to third/work computer, but download from it)?

    Is this possible:
Two directional sync (to/from) of history, bookmarks, etc on two computers and only unidirectional sync (from only, not to) on a third? I have sync set up on my work computer and I like knowing my work history when at home or on my laptop, but I don't want all of my home history being sent to the work computer. Is there a way to have a two directional sync between 2 computers but only send history from, but not to, a third computer?
As it stands now, if someone at work would get on my history it would look like I have been looking up flights and buying things on the internet at work, but I only do that at home.
    Thanks.

As far as I know, you can only access the iTunes store of the country you are currently in.

  • How Can I Combine Podcasts from Two Computers Into One ?

I download podcasts on two computers - my home PC and my work/travel laptop. My IPod syncs to my home PC. What I would like to be able to do is transfer all the podcasts I have downloaded from my laptop to my home PC (as my internet speed at home isn't great), then sync it all to my IPod. Is this possible ?

Well it works.....sometimes. It works OK with audio podcasts, but not with *.mov video podcasts. It DOES work with *.M4V video podcasts. I found this out by trying to add all the Tiki Bar TV files, and only the Boomerang episode transferred OK.
The strange thing is this - while the *.MOV vpodcasts don't show up in the Podcast window in ITunes, they DO transfer over and show up in Library>Genre 'Podcasts'>. How can I force them to appear in the Podcasts window ?
    Cheers

  • How do I sync the same library between two computers?

I have an iMac and a Macbook Air, and I am constantly buying music betwen the two computers, and my iPhone. I want to be able to sync up my iPhone on both computers, but it keeps telling me I have to resync my entire phone, which is just crazy. How can I sync up itunes? I have .mac to sync my contacts, mail, etc.

I have an iMac and a Macbook Air, and I am constantly buying music betwen the two computers
Constantly? The MacBook Air is brand new.
Even if you sync iTunes between two computers With something like this -> syncOtunes, you will still get this message if you sync to the other computer. The libraries may be have the same music but they are not the same library.

  • Editing from two computers

I have an iMac at home that I have been editing and publishing a site from iWeb to .Mac. I now have a macbook and would like to work on pages or blogs with that computer also. I vaguely understand the issue now with the files stored on my iMac and editing and publishing from there.
If I were to store the files say on my iDisk, could I access them from both computers, edit and publish from both, and keep them in sync?
Is there another/better method of doing this without actually moving the files from one computer to the other?
(obviously, one option might be using Back to My Mac, but I would like to work locally if possible)

You can store the domain file on your iDisk.
But you have to double-click it to open it. Otherwise iWeb won't find it .
Depending on the size of the file, expect slow updates. And be prepared that when you loose connection, your file may be damaged.
But that isn't really an iWeb issue. It applies to all files you edit over a connection.
All the if suggestions you can easily find out by doing it.

  • How to import songs onto iPod from two computers?

this probably was posted before, but is there anyway to upload songs from two different computers?
i have songs on my mom's computer that i dont have on my dads.

Try turning off auto-update. Right click your iPod, and go to iPod Options. Under music, click 'manually manage songs and playlist.' It should work after that. You will probabl have to do it on both computers.
