Sync Contacts/Calendars without iTunes?

Bear with me.
I cannot install iTunes on my computer at work. We're simply not allowed to. However, I want to be able to transfer contacts and calendar entries to my iPod Touch, so I can make the most of its PDA capabilities. That being said, I'm looking for a work around that does not involve manual entry.
I can, off the top of my head, think of 2 potential solutions. I know nothing of their viability however, which is why I'm posting here. If you can provide details, that would be great!
Potential solution #1: Alternate syncing app.
Is there a tool other than iTunes that can sync the iPod Touch with Microsoft's Outlook?
Potential solution #2: Drag and drop files into iPod's File System
Can I somehow export my calendar and/or contacts from export to files that the iPod Touch would recognize if put in the correct place in its file system?
I am certainly open to other workarounds.
Thank you for whatever help and advice you can offer

Julian, thank you for the response!
It' sad. I did some more browsing right after posting the question and found a how-to Apple posted regarding manually importing calendar items into iPod. Of course my hopes elevated, and of course I almost immediately discovered the lack of disk mode.
I suppose I will have to prod my IT department, but typically they are not lenient. It's one of the inconveniences intrinsic to working in the defense industry.
Hopefully somewhere down the line Apple can circumvent the issue by creating a standalone, lightweight syncing client for calendar and contacts, maybe even bookmarks. If the installer doesn't require admin privs to install (e.g. don't touch the registry), it would prove most useful!
Thanks again

Any way to sync ical and contacts without internet?!!

Not unless you want to install OS X server and set up your own CardDAV and CalDAV server as explained here: http://www.macworld.com/article/2061183/itunes-ios-syncing-gone-solve-it-with-se rver-.html.  That would allow you to sync contacts and calendars locally with your Mac as you could before Mavericks.

  • Retired. How do I delete Enterprise from 4S AND sync contacts/calendars to iTunes

After I started to use my personal iPhone 4S to get work e-mails, I was told by an Apple supervisor that it was not possible to sync my contacts and calendar to iTunes.  To get this info, I actually spoke to several techs and supervisors before someone authoratatively told me I could not do it.  I recently retired and my work email has been disabled.  I went to delete it and got a message saying that related contacts and calendars would be deleted. So how do I work through this. I want to keep all my contacts (I have LOTS) and my calendar?

Contacts and calendars synced with an Exchange server are the property of the company that owns the server. They can not be easily 'moved' or copied to another address book or calendar.
There are some 3rd party apps in the app store that claim to be able to do this for contacts. I do not know if there are ay that will do so for calendar entries or not.
Not having personal experience with any of them, I can't make a specific recommendation.

  • IPhone 3G cannot sync contacts/calendar with iTunes 7.7 in Vista

    My environment:
    Computer - PC
OS - Windows XP Pro SP2
Apple Products - iPhone 3G with Itunes 7.7
Software - Miscrosoft Office with Outlook 2003
    Laptop Vaio FZ21M
    OS - Windows Vista SP1
Apple Products - iPhone 3G with Itunes 7.7
Software - Miscrosoft Office with Outlook 2007
When I connect my iPhone 3G to the laptop, iTunes launch, but in Info tab I don't get the option to sync Contacts or Calendar. The only message that appears is "Your contacts are being pushed to your iPhone over the air from Microsoft Exchange"
On the other hand when I connect iPhone 3G to desktop with Windows XP SP2, I get the option to sync contacts with Outlook/Gmail Address Book/Yahoo Address Book, etc. Today I performed an update to iTunes, installing version 7.7.046 ,but the problem persists.
A collegue of mine has excactly the same problem, he is also using a laptop running Windows Vista SP1 , iTunes 7.7 but Outlook 2003 instead. When he connects iPhone 3G, he doesn't get the option to sync Contacts or Calendar. Email sync option is available.
Is there anything we can do?

I had the same problem with my 3G phone.  I solved it as follows
    1) Go to preferences in your address book and delete the iCloud.  This will revert your address book to 'On My Mac'.
    2) Turn off your iCloud account in system preferences.
    3) Run iTunes, enable sync contacts and under advanced, replace information on this phone, enable contacts.
    4) Press apply button and sync should begin. Itunes will now load your contact file into the phone.
    5) Re-enable your iCloud account.

  • Syncing contacts/calendars of 2 phones on 1 computer [win XP]

My wife and I recently got iphones (yay!!). However, we only have on computer at home running outlook 2007 and every time we sync contacts/calendars we get all of each others info. I tried creating groups in outlook, but they are not showing up in itunes (i'm only getting the all contacts option, not groups). I've been trying to figure this out most of the day, any help is greatly appreciated.

I wonder if the original poster might be able to do it with manual sync and (admittedly) a bit of inconvenience. I have my iPhone set up to sync manually on two different machines, one for my music and the other for my laptop's iCal. But I didn't want all of the individual calendars of my laptop's iCal assortment to sync to the 'phone, so I checked "sync selected calendars" and toggled just the ones I wanted to cart around on my iPhone.
Maybe the OP could set up the iPhones for manual syncing, and on the Info tab check off selected calendars to sync with his phone before hitting the sync button. It may be a pain to have to remember to change the checkboxes for the His and Hers calendars, but it might be worth a try. (And make sure you have the right destination calendar -- again in the Info tab -- for the appointments made on your iPhone when you are syncing back to the laptop iCal. You don't want your appointments showing up in her calendar...)
    Hope this helps.

  • Syncing Contacts/Calendar Only

    Hello
I just received the new 6 Plus and want to set up as new, instead from back up.
Is there a way to only restore contacts and calendar ? Or do i need to manually reinstall all my contacts and calendar info.
    Thank you

If you synced your contacts and calendar to iCloud you can set up your new phone as new and then go to Settings > iCloud and turn on Contacts and Calendars to sync.
If you synced them to your computer via iTunes, the following may help: iTunes 11 for Windows: Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad
If you only have a backup to iTunes or iCloud, the restore from those backups is all or nothing.

  • Verizon 755p; using Versamail; cant sync contacts & calendar

I am having a sync conflict....
I HAD been able to sync Contacts & Calendar via USB but once I started using Treo for emails, have been unable to sync ever since. Very frustrating. Hours upon hours trying to figure it out.
Went to advanced settings in Wireless Sync (to "Enable other sync apps") but still can't sync to Palm Desktop. I am using Versamail for my two gmail accounts. No need to use Wireless Sync..  Can I just delete WS?
    Any suggestions please?
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)

Hello tweetie and welcome to the Palm forums.
Did you check the Verizon Wireless Sync software for settings that disable wired sync support?  I have a Sprint Treo and I can't test this out for you.  Other posters have reported similar issues and the Wireless Sync software settings are sometimes the cause for the inability to perform a wired sync of calendar and contacts.

  • HT201104 Can you sync contacts/calendar on ios 7 device after upgrading to iCloud drive?

I have an iphone 4 (ios 7, can't get 8).  I don't care about accessing documents on iCloud drive with my phone.
I might want to do it with my ipad mini (ios8.1) though.
If I upgrade to iCloud drive will I still be able to sync contacts/calendar on my iphone?

I cloud drive IS not the SAME as I cloud you use for backups.  I cloud drive is for moving docs, pics, etc.  So if you upgrade to iCloud drive, yes you can still sync contacts, calendars, etc

  • Syncing contacts and calendar to gmail/google calendar without itunes

    Hello,
I'm using Windows 7, using Firefox 3.6, with Microsoft Security Essentials.
My problem is actually with synchronizing my contacts to and from the iPhone. I set up the exchange on my iPhone as it was described here: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252
Now most of my contacts are doubled, but I guess it's a first time thing, and I will delete the extra ones (Is there a good way to figure which one I should delete and which one I should preserve to prevent those doubles again?).
My actual problem is that I have some contacts that I saved on my iPhone which are not synchronized with Gmail contacts. How should I fix it?
I don't know if you could help me with Google Calendar, but I have a similar problem. I am able to sync new notifications that I wrote on my iPhone, and they appear on Google Calendar right away, but it doesn't sync other notifications that I previously wrote. Any way to fix that?
I would really appreciate your help!
    Tom

syncing the calendar is pretty easy go to gmail site and download the update to sync the calendar. just make sure to check sync both ways it should work.
as far as contacts they don't play good together i had to export outlook 2010
into google im not sure they will sync like the calendar does would like to know that myself

  • Why cant i sync contacts/calendar from iphone to itunes

    Hi
I have just ordered a new iPhone 6 plus and awaiting its arrival. I currently have an iPhone 4 which I inherited from my dad, so it was still listed as his phone when I plugged into iTunes, but my outlook email address is listed as the current active email account on the phone. Problem is, when I try to sync my mail, contacts and calendars to iTunes (when signed in with the apple id that matches my outlook email address) so as to back up the device ready for transfer to my new iPhone, I am unable to, it only backs up the apps on the phone. When I click on the phone in iTunes and select the info section, it says that I can only sync 'windows contacts' (there is no other option in the drop down menu) and underneath that I cannot sync calendars because outlook must be installed, and further below under the 'sync mail accounts' section there is no accounts listed. So I suppose I have a number of questions which don't seem to be specifically answered anywhere, or I cant find them-
    1. Is the issue because the IPhone I am trying to sync was not the original one that I had synced on iTunes to my apple id, or because my dads iPhone was registered to another email account? Do I then need to ensure that the phone is mapped only to my iTunes account?
    2. Or, Is the issue because I don't have Microsoft outlook installed on the PC hard drive? I am using windows 8 and login to the PC using my email account and can access outlook using the mail app.
    3. Or. is the issue related to another article I have found about Apple and Microsoft refusing to fix an underlying issue to allow this?
    4. If I were able to do what I am trying to do, would my entire contacts library stored on the phone be transferred to iTunes as back up for transfer to the new phone, or would it just be my outlook contacts? (I would hope the entire contact list stored in the phone)
Appreciate any help, what I am trying to do should be quite simple but after a few hours trying and searching I fear it may be easier to just copy everything over manually which doesn't sound right!!

You should be able to do this just as you did in iPhone. You can use OS X's mail application. Go to Preferences menu and you'll see an Accounts tab. Go from there.
This looks like a Mac question, though.

  • Can't configure sync my contacts & calendar on iTunes (10.1.0.56)

The ability to configure Sync my contacts is not avaliable. When I select sync my contacts the configure button does not respond.
As for Sync my calendars - this one I even can't select, the option to select the check box is disabled.
    I have iPhone 4 OS 4.2.1
I am using Outlook 2007 on windows XP.
I have re-installed iTunes, I have restored my iPhone, I have configured the iTunes Add in in my outlook, outlook is my default mail account, I basicly did everything that is possible.
Any idea on how to fix that?
Worth mention that previously I had iPhone 3G sync on this laptop, but I have managed to remove all the old backups.
I can sync photos and application but that's all.
    Thanks.

    I have resolved this.
For anyone having the issue, here's what appears to be happening based on running iTunes setup with verbose logging turned on and watching the time when the network interface dies.
    Issue:
During the installation, iTunes installs some network components related to mobile device support over ethernet(Apple Mobile Device Ethernet Service - netaapl.inf). At the same time, according the logs, the install process removed OEM18.inf. This almost exactly coincided with the time that I saw the network connection die (preceded it by a few seconds).
Basically, iTunes appears to be removing a required network component.
    Resolution:
After installing iTunes and the network connection breaking, remove the network device from Device Manager and allow Windows to reinstall it automatically.
The following instructions are for Windows 7, but they are close enough to follow for other versions of Windows.
    1. Click the Start button (Jewel in Vista and Win7).
    2. Right-click Computer and click Manage in the menu that appears (type your password or click Yes if prompted).
    3. On the left side of hte Computer Management window, click Device Manager.
    4. Click the arrow (or plus sign) next to Network Adapters to expand that section.
    5. Right-click your network adapter and click Uninstall in the menu that appears.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Reboot.
Windows should automatically detect and reinstall your network device on boot.

  • Upgraded to iTunes 11...now insists on syncing contacts/calendars 'over-the-air' but can't change settings

Upgraded to iTunes 11, at which time it decided it was better for me to sync my calendar/contacts "over-the-air" from iCloud (when I never had this activated before).  Now it says "your contacts are being synced with your iPhone over the air from iCloud" (which is not true...it doesn't work and changes in one place are not made in another - same goes for calendars).  Also states "Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on your iPhone" (likewise not true...I've got them deactivated in my iPhone and still doesn't work).
Not sure why Apple thought they should go ahead and change my preferences that were setup to go to iCloud, especially when it doesn't even work.  Now no contact or calendar changes I make in Outlook transfer to iPhone or vice-versa (even with a manual sync).
Anyone know what the h*ll is going on with this?  To say I'm annoyed would be an understatement.  May be time to ditch Apple and the iPhone, first no YouTube & Google Maps now they insist on not allowing me to sync the way I want.  Total BS.

I have this same problem too - thanks for the heads up that all my NOTES will get wiped.  Going to have to workaround by dumping all my notes from Outlook to ONENOTE on the cloud.  Then not really using NOTES on my iPhone and iPad.  Apple is slowly becoming more and more successful in getting me to NOT use MS products, like Outlook.  Actually, my cloud strategy will be to keep my longer notes on ONENOTE and relegating NOTES on iPhone/iPad to just quick hits that I jot here and there.  I guess iPhone/iPad notes will then get synced over iCloud but will not end up in Outlook.  What a pain in the arse!  I need a seriously freaking flow chart to keep track of all of my cloud activity.  It's making my head spin.

  • Sync Contacts & Calendars not selected in iTunes, iPhone seems to sync

My phone seems to be keeping everything in sync, but in under the Info tab in iTunes, "Sync Contacts," "Sync Calendars," and "Sync Mail Accounts" are not selected.
In the recent past, I assumed that this was a problem and I clicked on the boxes. When I did, it screwed everything up (created duplicate contacts, etc.). Since I'm using iCloud, do I no longe need to have these boxes selected?

Did you try clicking the toggle in iTunes that allow you to select the calendars manually? I think it's on the second tab in iTunes when the iPhone is selected.
