Sync contacts disabled in Mavericks

I recently updated from Lion to Mavericks not because it was free or better but because my mac was crushing. I tried to sync my iphone and found out that syncing my contacts was disabled in iTunes for Mavericks! So finally I found in Apple support that the only way to do it was by activating iCloud...
I don't know about all you guys but I really don't want to share my contacts or my calendar schedules over the net and keep them in a "safe" storage somewhere!
Apple has really changed priorities and instead of being an industry leader, i'm sorry to say that, became a follower!
The downhill started from iOS 7!!!! My beautiful, unique, elegant iPhone became an Android phone overnight!
Instead of innovation, practicality, and elegance we see only an Apple who is trailing in design of all its products behind its competitors.
Other example is the iPhone 5 and 5C. Apple wanted to make a bigger screen but really distorted the visual analogy of the phone. It like holding and using a tv remote! And then they hade the greatest idea. To make the bad, even worst! They created a cheaper (by 100$.....) even uglier 5C.
Really, Apple directors have to reconsider their strategy and stick to the values that brought this company to where it is right now.
Innovation, elegance, practicality!

Thank you Chris CA for your reply. I went to the link you suggested but then I thought that I am not paid to run Apple. My intention when I started this conversation was just to share my thoughts and agonies with all you guys about where Apple is heading to.

To be more clear, you cannot sync contacts using iTunes because Sync Services has been removed from Mavericks.
So 10 point voor me myself.
You can give yourself a Solved but you do not get points for your own replies.
I knew that, I can read.
[quote]OS X Mavericks v10.9 and later do not use SyncServices. Instead, Mavericks supports sharing your information using several network-based and cloud-based solutions. If you want to sync your information across multiple devices and computers, you should use one or more of these methods. I post my question on 18/11 and no answer.

  • Unable to sync contacts and calendar to my Blackberry since installing Maverick (worked before).  Hunted all over for iSync and it can't be found?

Ok so what have you done with iSync in Maverick?
I have a Blackberry Curve 9320 and until I "upgraded" to maverick I was able to sync my calendar and contacts using Blackberry desktop.  Now I see the error sync service disabled.  Looking on your help there doesn't seem to be anything that tells me how to enable sync ..
However, hunting around I can find sync services but am unable to do anything with them - i.e. no preferences, etc.
I've looked at your "Advanced" help and the help refers to earlier versions of OSX.

    Dear Friend!
You are not alone! and im also got the same feeling with you!
what a "BIG" company with a poor customer service! everytime you read from other's complaint, the so-called Administrator or BlackBerry Technical Advisor would ask you to "contact your mobile service provider and have them engage BlackBerry support for live investigation, diagnosis, and resolution. "!
that mean no answer for your, go away?!
i used Q10 for a month with my icloud account for calendar and contact.. after few days of "honeymoon", the sync suddenly failed! and no more cal sync, and even the contact is.... sigh.... totally messly!
and you will find that... no help from BB, no advise from BB, (may be the said advise is the best answer from BB), no one cares the issue.
Yes! i agree with you! the keyboard is great!!! some of the new features are wonderful.... but those basic function.... hahaha!! no more!
I feel very disappointed to BB and go back to my ip5... but i keep the q10 in my room... i'm still waiting one day, the bugs are fixed...
just a sharing with you, and you are not the only one...
    Cheers....

  • How to keep Sync contacts on Mavericks 10.9, iClould, gmail, iPhone IOS 7?

    Have you ever happened?
Basically I don't want to lose time coping and pasting, doing much work to do something simple. I want to have sync my contacts from gmail account with iCloud account.
I used to have Lion Mac OS 10.7.4 which was allowing me sync my contacts from gmail into my macbook contacts. What was really beautiful because if I’d add a new contact automatically was updated into my gmail account and by default was updated into my iCloud account (1) which it’s really important in an Apple device or (2) just to have a back up in your iCloud account.
    1. If I use iCloud to save every contact, such as phone numbers, email address, etc.. (with the information that I have read) It'd be default to write emails in gmail if I am in my macbook or a pc from school, I mean it's gonna be a lot of work. , because the contacts will be in iCloud .
    2. But also if I restore, lost, sell my iPhone and I buy a new one it'll be easier if I just type my Apple ID and there's gonna be my all contacts.
However now I have got Mavericks 10.9.1 which is currently not allowing sync contact in this way, this is a big problem for me I use a lot google mail and Apple things as well. I have been making a small research about but nothing. Can you give me your opinion or solve my problem?

You can sync your Google contacts with the app,Contacts but you cannot sync between iCloud contacts and Google contacts. Just like your email does not sync between account, but to the application. It's always been that way.
If you want to email someone from your Gmail account but their address is only in iCloud, this is not a problem as Mail uses all addresses in Contacts.

  • Mavericks can't sync contacts need to sync multiple family iPhones to same account but keep contacts in separate groups

Both my wife and son have iPhones and prior to mavericks I was able to sync contacts through iTunes and select which group of contacts synced with the phone so for instance my son would only see his contacts and my wife her own,but the imac would hold the master back up
I cannot see anyway to do this now as the only way to sync contacts appears to be through icloud.i can't find any support documents to explain what happens if I turn icloud sync on as all it says on iphone is merge contacts which presumably would then put all contacts on each phone
Does anyone know how I could achieve the desired goal?

    1 person = 1 account
iCloud is for individual use, so if 5 people share the same account they will get all of the contacts (and calendar events) in the account. Kinda messy.
Give each person their own account in iCloud and their own user account on the Mac.
iTunes can still be shared with a seperate ID for all to use.
Syncing via iTunes has nothing to do with iCloud, and is no longer possible with Mavericks.

  • Can I sync contacts via iTunes with Mavericks?

I would like to sync contacts and calendars via iTunes (wifi or not) to/from my iMac and not use iCloud.  Can I do this?  If so, how?
    Thanks in advance,

  • TS3999 Using OS Mavericks. Any way to sync Contacts & Calendars without using iCloud? Don't always have internet!

Any way to sync ical and contacts without internet?!!

Not unless you want to install OS X server and set up your own CardDAV and CalDAV server as explained here: http://www.macworld.com/article/2061183/itunes-ios-syncing-gone-solve-it-with-se rver-.html.  That would allow you to sync contacts and calendars locally with your Mac as you could before Mavericks.

  • Question: How do I sync contacts from my iPad to my MacBook Pro running Mavericks?

How do I sync contacts from my iPad to my MacBook Pro running Mavericks?
    rbarge

    Contacts sync via iCloud.
Set up iCloud on your iPad and your MBP, with the same iCloud account on both, with the same Apple ID.
On the Mac you set this up with System Preferences > iCloud, and have Contacts checked in the box on the right.
It looks very much the same on the iPad, Settings > iCloud.
If you have set this up and it's still not working, then sign out of and then back into your iCloud accounts.

  • Sync contacts on PC and movies / music from mac?

    Hello all,
Looking to jump on the iphone bandwagon when the 3g version drops. But I have a question important to my usage.
Right now I use a PC for all of my business-related stuff, so all my contacts are stored in outlook. But for music / movies, etc I use a mac.
Is it possible to sync my contacts with outlook on my pc, then sync my music / movies from my mac? Sort of a dual-sync setup.
    Thanks!

    Yes, this is possible.
An iPhone is not formated for one operating system or the other.
iTunes content, and photos transferred to an iPhone can be synced with or transferred from a single computer only.
The sync process for contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks is a true sync process - bidirectional, and can be synced with multiple computers - with the supported applications between two Macs, two PCs running Windows, or between a Mac and a Windows PC.
The iPhone includes sync preferences with each computer, but best to disable automatic syncing to change or confirm your sync settings with iTunes on each computer before syncing. You can disable transferring iTunes content, and the same for photos, and enable syncing contact information, and calendar events only via your iPhone sync preferences with your Windows PC. Enable transferring iTunes content and photos from your Mac, and you can sync your contact information and calendar events with your Mac also.

  • I hate Apple maps, will Marvericks give me option to sync contacts with google maps?

Will Mavericks let me sync contacts with google maps or require sync to Apple Maps as does i0s7. I hate Apple maps.

I have exactly the same issue.  I updraged my iphone4 to iOS 5.0.1 and iTunes to version 10.5.2.11.  I'm also running Windows7, but 32bit.
And I can also confirm this used to work both ways.
Good thing is that the iTunes backup and restore kept the new iPhone contacts on my device during the upgrade.  But they are still not syncing to google.
So the bad news is that its broken and has been for some time now.
    anyone?

  • Verizon 755p; using Versamail; cant sync contacts & calendar

I am having a sync conflict....
I HAD been able to sync Contacts & Calendar via USB but once I started using Treo for emails, have been unable to sync ever since. Very frustrating. Hours upon hours trying to figure it out.
Went to advanced settings in Wireless Sync (to "Enable other sync apps") but still can't sync to Palm Desktop. I am using Versamail for my two gmail accounts. No need to use Wireless Sync..  Can I just delete WS?
    Any suggestions please?
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)

Hello tweetie and welcome to the Palm forums.
Did you check the Verizon Wireless Sync software for settings that disable wired sync support?  I have a Sprint Treo and I can't test this out for you.  Other posters have reported similar issues and the Wireless Sync software settings are sometimes the cause for the inability to perform a wired sync of calendar and contacts.
