Sync Deleted Photos between 2 Catalogues

I have 2 computers (both macs) one is a Mac Pro desktop and the other is a MBP that I'm taking with me to NYU. My problem is, that I bracket a lot, and when I first started shooting, I shot...a lot. Therefore, since Februry of 2009 I have taken approx 420GB of photos. So now I'm drying to sperate the wheat from the chaff, but I dont have time to delete all the blurred/miss-focused/reduntant/ect. shots before I go off to college. So the question is, when you export as catalouge, and then have the 2 fuse, will lightroom delete the photos from the home desktop that I deleted on the laptop at college?

I think your best solution would be to export the whole catalog to an external drive (a 1TB drive is dirt cheap these days). Work on that in college, and then either just use that drive when you come home, or delete the originals, and then Export as Catalog, to get it all back on the main drive.

  • Removing deleted photos from catalogue/album

I imported a large number of photos into the catalogue. When I did this I checked the "fix red eye auto" box. All photos that had the red eye removed were imported as well as an edited copy of these photos that had a suffix ("edited-1") added to the filename by PSE.  I then put all these photos in an album.
As many of the red eye removals were terrible, I deleted all the "edited-1" versions via Windows. However my PSE album still shows these deleted photos as being in the album. I now constantly get prompts to look for these missing files. The search for each "missing" file takes forever. They won't be found as they have been deleted. Allowing the tool that looks for every missing file to do its work will have me sitting here for a week.
How can I quickly refresh the album to reflect the fact that many photos have been deleted from the hard disk? Do I have to delete all photos from the catalogue and album and start again?

I have found that while you can check "also remove from hard disk" when deleting files from the catalog, you cannot delete the folder the files were in. In other words it seems you cannot totally control the storage of your image files and folders on the hard disk (ie as Windows sees it) via PSE6. You have to write down what you did in PSE6 and then go back to Windows and edit/delete folders to reflect what you did from within PSE6. If this is the case I believe this is a huge flaw in PSE6. You should be able to have total control of your image files and folders via PSE6. Without this control PSE6 simply creates confusion.

  • Transferring Photos between catalogues

Now that I've gotten everything on my new computer, I've been left with a bit of a mess. Some of the files which were not in the proper folders before the change, are now in the wrong catalogues as well. I set up two catalogues; My Catalogue and My Work. So, if I have photos in the wrong catalogue, how can I get them to the new one? I can delete them from the current catalogue and have the new one GET them, but I don't always know where they really are. Is there any easier way to do this? Such as opening both catalogues and dragging and dropping? (PSE3.0)

You can only have one catalog open at a time so dragging/dropping does not seem to be an option.
I am assuming you have the images in certain folders and wish to keep them in these folders outside of Elements.
Open Organizer and click File>Catalog>Open>My Pictures (assuming you want to put the pictures there).
Click Get Photos from Files or Folders. Assuming My Pictures is your top level folder, click the first sub folder, hold the Shift key and then click the last folder. Be sure Select From Subfolders box is checked.
Those photos that are NOT in the Catalog will be imported; those that are ALREADY IN the Catalog will be ignored.
I would then open the Work Catalog and delete from catalog (Do NOT check the Delete From Hard Disk box) any images you want to remove from this catalog.
Once you get the images in the right catalog and the unwanted images removed from the catalog, you can use the Organizer Move command to change images to the correct folders.
The secret is you need to keep the underlying MS Access database in sync. This is why you need to use the Organizer's move and delete commands.
Because I tend to be over cautious and Access seems to have a mind of its own sometimes, my workflow for each catalog would be this after all changes and moves and made. I'm sure many users will believe this is overkill, but I like this workflow after mass changes.
    Open the catalog
File>Recover>All Missing Files (just to check if something got orphaned in the process)
Go to your top level folder in Organizer and do Select All, right click and then Rebuild All Thumbnails. Warning-this can take some time if you have large number of photos. Do this only when you can leave the unit on and Elements does not need to be used for a period of time (maybe 30 minutes or more).
File>Catalog>Recover-does "housekeeping" on the MS Access database.

  • Syncing contact photos between Outlook 2011 for Mac and the rest

Hello, I installed Office for Mac 2011 and when it synced the contacts (through Exchange), most of the contact photos now no longer show in OWA or in Outlook 2013 from my Windows PC's. They are not lost: In Outlook 2013 (for windows) they appear instead
under "Notes", in the form of a thumbnail jpeg. On my Mac, however, the photos show up correctly. None of my windows accounts (e.g., windows phone) now show any photos any longer. I tried some troubleshooting: I deleted all my contacts from everything,
and imported them back to Outlook for Mac and synced them, but the photos still show only under "notes" in the Windows accounts.
How can I solve the issue? I see the same problem reported by other people, but I am not aware of a resolution.

    Hi,
I think we can go to the Microsoft Office for Mac forum:

  • How to set a thumbnail photo in Azure AD? Sync thumbnail photos between Exchange Online and Azure AD?

We're interested in downloading the thumbnail photo for users in an O365 tenant using the REST API, but we're stumped regarding how to set a thumbnail photo for a user in Azure AD.  We haven't found a way to do it via the user interface and it doesn't
appear to sync between Exchange Online and Azure AD.  The only sync reference we've been able to find is between Windows Server AD and Azure AD which is not applicable in our use case?
Any pointers on how to get the thumbnail photo set?

    Greetings!
You may use the sample (Malar has shared above) which helps how to query Azure AD using the Graph API, demonstrates additional REST functionality to Get and Set User Details, including thumbnail photos.
    Would like to add:
    http://matthewyarlett.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/add-or-update-user-profile-picture.html
You can use the AD module for PowerShell for getting / setting the AD user.
Would like to re-iterate that there are constraints on the sizes and formats supported for the
thumbnailPhoto Active Directory attribute. As a general guideline, keep your images to 96x96 pixels and under 10Kb, using JPG format.
    Thank you,

  • App to organize, sync, delete photos for offline use

Looking for advice from the community.
I would like one App that will import my pics from Camera Roll, organize into albums, allow me to delete individual photos, sync so pics are on my iPad & iPhone.  I want to keep the photo album on my device for offline use but delete the photos from my camera roll so it doesn't get cluttered.
Example:  I take 20 pictures of Rescue-Sophie and decide to keep 10.  With the native app I can create an album, and delete pictures but that's really it.  The photos stay in Camera Roll with only a "copy" in the album.  I use Picasa so I can embed slide shows of the rescues and do large scale organizing/labeling.
Now I want to sync my album named "Rescue-Sophie" so it appears on my iPad and iPhone while I am offline.  I often whip out pictures of our available and sometimes past rescues to show potential adopters and cannot rely on being able to retrieve them off the net/cloud.
I don't mind paying for a "professional" level App if it does what I want.  I don't really care about editing, color, photoshopping, etc... Organization and keepi g my Camera Roll uncluttered are my main goals.
    Can anyone help?
FYI - rescues means dogs.  I belong to a non-profit and I head up the rescue committee for Pomeranians in Virginia.

Non Windows SMB share? Computer account probably not authenticating.

  • Move photos between catalogues

    Hello.
I have several catalogues on my iMac and I need to move a set of images from one catalogue to another.
All the files and catalogues are on the same iMac/HDD and the files are RAW format. I am using LR4.
    Thank you.

Keep in mind that while Paige is (as usual) correct the described procedure is not strictly speaking a "move". It is a "copy". At the end the photos are in BOTH catalogs (not to mention the third catalog used to transport the photos from one to the other).
More evidence that the correct (almost always) solution is to use this "copy" technique to get all your photos into one catalog and then get rid of the rest.

  • Sync deleted photos...help!!!

I was trying to move photos from my iPad to my Mac. I thought (silly me) that my iPad would over ride the Mac since there were no photos. When I go into look for photos on Mac there are none and none on my iPad. Where did they go???

Just to get the basics out of the way:
In iPhoto, if you click on Photos (under LIBRARY), do you see the photos?
How about if you select Date in the search field, and put in the date for those photos (Oct 7? Oct 8?).
If you go into the Originals folder, as Terence suggests, you can show the window in List view, sort by Date Modified and then you'll be able to see if there is more than one folder for that day. If that day was Oct 7, you might see "Oct 7, 2007" and "Oct 7, 2007_2" or something like that.
But first just make sure iPhoto itself isn't just confused, and try the first two suggestions above.

  • Q re sync. I have deleted photos on my iMac going from 20,000 to 11,000. My iPad still has the 20,000. If I sync the 2 hopefully I will end up with only 11,000 on both devices but before I sync I want to make certain I won't end up 20,000 again

    sync between desktop and iPad

Sorry, been away for quite a while....to clarify....
When you sync photos from iTunes, you overwrite the last set of photos that you synced unless you select them to sync to the iPad again. All photos have to be included/selected in every sync, and if any photos are not selected to sync, those photos will be erased. Since the photos no longer exist on your Mac, it is impossible for them to reappear on the iPad when you sync again. You have nothing to worry about ad long as the photos have been deleted from the Mac.

  • Syncing photos between ios and Mac

    Hi
How to sync photos between Mac and ios .. iPhoto is confusing .. If I create an album on Mac and share it to ios
Through iTunes I won't be able to add or delete photos to it with ios which is strange .. If I use photo stream album
Created on ios I won't be able to add photos for them with my Mac so how to do such a simple task with iPhoto ?

Not sure what you're asking here. The only connection between iphoto for mac and iPhoto for iOS is a name. Other than that they have nothing in common. So, no you can't manage albums created on your Mac with iPhoto for iOS and vice versa.

  • Photos is syncing all photos to my Macbook, how do I delete them ?

I just bought a new macbook that only has 128gb storage so I don't want all the photos from iCloud downloaded to the macbook.
I just noticed that 800+ photos have been downloaded to the macbook (only 500MB so not a huge deal so far) but once I upgrade my iMac to the 10.3 and sync those photos (to photos) then I'll really run into a problem.
I did select optimize mac storage but like others have commented, I can't adjust how much storage and I don't want to use a large amount of space for photos on my macbook.
The weird thing is, when In go into my photos folder into the photos library (on the macbook) and try to delete the photo from my macbook it gave me a warning that "THESE PHOTOS WILL BE DELETED FROM ALL OF YOUR DEVICES" so it seems like I can't delete photos from my macbook without losing them completely?
Hopefully I'm wrong about my assumption but if that is the case I need to turn off photo syncing with iCloud completely in Photos because I don't want these photos on the macbook (Unless I manually download one to the laptop).
Is this case? or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks

Ijust told you how to delete them off your ipod.
Open itunes, connect ipod, go to photos tab, select whatever you want, sync.

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

  • I have the iPhone 4, and yesterday I synced my photos onto iTunes, but now I have albums on my phone that cannot be deleted, and there is not an option to delete the items in the albums individually... How do I get rid of these unwanted albums? Windows 7

I have the iPhone 4, and yesterday I synced my photos onto iTunes, but now I have albums on my phone that cannot be deleted, and there is not an option to delete the items in the albums individually... How do I get rid of these unwanted albums? Using Windows 7.

If you used iTunes to get the photos on the phone, then use the same iTunes and uncheck the music you don't want and do another sync.

  • How to delete photos from synced albums?

    Hi,
after a holiday I sync all photos taken with my iPad 1. I want to delete bad photos and resync them with my PC. But I can't delete photos from my iPad/iPhone. Is there any possibility to delete single photos?
    Thanks

You can't delete photos synced from your computer directly on your phone, they are deleted by changing your photo sync selection when connected to your computer's iTunes.
You can remove all photos that you synced from your computer by selecting and syncing just an empty folder.
If you want to keep some of them on your phone then you will either need to use a third-party app to copy them back to your computer so that you can then include them in the photo sync ; or download a third-party photo management app on your phone such as Photo Manager Pro which you can copy the photos that you want to keep to (that app can copy photos to/from the Photos app and your computer) and then sync an empty folder to Photos

  • I download apps directly to my iphone.  When I sync with my laptop, how do I avoid having sync delete apps, photos, songs downloaded on my iphone?

I download apps directly to my iphone.  When I sync with my laptop, how do I avoid having sync delete apps, photos/vdeos, songs downloaded on my iphone?

If you are syncing to the same computer that you always sync to, and have each of the items in itunes that you want synced then you shouldnt have an issue. The only way you would have an app come off your phone is if you uncheck that app from syncing in th apps location in itunes.
