Sync deleted video files

I had previously synced my iPod classic with one or both of my Windows notebook computers. I went to resync to add some TV show video on one of the notebook computers to the iPod. After I was done syncing I looked and all my TV videos had been deleted from the iPod. How can a sync cause file deletion?

If the ipod is set for auto sync, it can only sync to one library ITL file.
Did you click through some message that said the iPod was synced with another library?
If you want to use your iPod with multiple PCs and not get erased, you need to set it for manual sync.

  • How to properly sync own video files with played / unplayed state?

Since iOS7 (I think) the Videos app on iOS is no longer showing the "unplayed" blue dot next to a movie files that I have added manually to iTunes.
In old iTunes versions, at least iTunes showed me inside the library view which movie files had been played with the blue dot.
Now with the Yosemite Upgrade and new iTunes, when I go to "Movies" (left hand side icon) then on the middle section on "Home Videos" then I get my old listing of video files, but there is no played/unplayed state icon. There is a column "Plays" and "Last Played", but those do not indicate if the video was watched fully or only just a second of it.
When going to my iPhone sync view however, the seen/unseed blue dots do show up. But in that view, I cannot delete video files. Usually I delete videos files after I watched them, and currently it is impossible for me to delete the video files, as I cannot see which ones are seen. Plus, on the iOS Video app in iOS 8.1, I still cannot see which videos were played - on top of that, when I delete a video file from there, and sync my iphone, it actually copies the video file to the iPhone again :-(
Any thoughts, apart from "Dude you have a wacked workflow"? ;-)

    Hi,
in relation to on to the above could you please share some thoughts on using AUSST in an enterprise environment spread over 50 countries i relation how to setup the AUSST, taking WAN Lines into considerations. We are using SCCM for application deployment and patching. Is there a comparising model for AUSST vs. SCCM?
i Get the picture using AUSST in a company with one huge Building using the LAN capacity, but what technologies are used to replicate over WAN etc?

  • Is there a way to recover deleted video files from the finder folder

I recently and mistakenly deleted video files that were in my Finder folder, don't know why they were in there but that's another question, in doing this it also deleted them from IMovie and I have lost them unless someone out there know's different,
    Colin

If you haven't emptied your trash, they should be there.
If not, they should be in your last Time Machine backup. (Or other backup.)

  • I just recently upgraded my itouch from 4.1 to ios5, and updated to itunes 10.5. when isynced my music files, ebooks and other apps, all is working except when im trying to sync my video files. it says, canot be synced as cannot be played on this ipod.help

i just recently upgraded my itouch from 4.1 to ios 5, and updated to itunes 10.5. but when i synced my music files, ebooks and other apps, all is working except when im trying to sync my video files. it says, canot be synced as cannot be played on this ipod. but those are the same files that i have when i was using the old 4.1 version and its syncing just fine.. the itunes advanced tab "create iphone or ipod version" is not working either so i cant convert it to be xferred and synced. what can i do to have my video files synced?

i had the same problem but i just got a new video converter and made it convert videos to ipod/iphone format and then put them into itunes. i would suggest GOM encoder as the encoder can convert them and then once they're finished converting, put them automatically into your itunes for you. from there you can just sync them to your ipod.

  • How to delete video files that do not work

    Hi there,
I am frustrated. I just want to delete video files from my iTunes because they will not work on my iPod...I don't care about all the technical ****, I just want to delete the files so that when I update my iPod, they are taken away.
    Thanks for your help!

Just locate the videos you want to delete in your iTunes library and delete them, simple as that.

  • How do I permanently delete video files?

How do I permanently delete video files?

Perhaps you do not have permissions to move the file.  Do a get info on a file you cannot delete. Open the details triangle.  Report back.
This seems rather odd.  Is the file on an internal or exernal disk?
You may want to run these "standard" fixes if the problem persists.
You should run disk utility to verify the disk and to update your permissions.
You may want to run applejack to clean up your machine.

  • ITunes syncing deleted videos back onto iPad

I am not sure if this is a problem with the latest version of iTunes or iOS, but I have not changed any settings and have "synced" my iPad the same way since I bought it three years ago.  After watching a video on my iPad, I would manually delete it directly from the iPad.  When I next plugged my iPad into iTunes I would hit "Sync" and it would remove the check marks next to those videos I had deleted in the "Movies" section of the iPad interface in iTunes and mark them as "watched".
I recently upgraded from iPad 3rd Gen (The New iPad) to an iPad Air 2.  My iOS is up to date as is iTunes, but iTunes is not behaving the way it did before. Now when I delete a movie manually on the iPad and then plug in to iTunes and "Sync" iTunes is not removing the selection check marks and is putting all of the videos I deleted back on to the iPad.  This is very frustrating.  Is there a setting that I have accidentally changed or has the iTunes interface changed in some way that deleting things manually directly from the iPad no longer communicates with iTunes?
This is very annoying!  Please help!

Same exact thing happened to me on my iPad Air 2 (iOS 8.1.2) this morning and one time before. I was syncing some new videos onto my iPad via iTunes and it deleted EVERY VIDEO I had (over 200 videos or about 60gB of files). When I had this problem before, it was more because I changed the video type from "Home Video" to "TV Show" where it would delete the files labelled as "TV Show", thus making organizing my files a nightmare, but this new problem is far worse. iTunes team, get your **** in order. Now I have to spend a full day reconverting my files into .mp4 format for my iPad...

  • N95 8GB: Problem on deleting video file

    Hi,
Is there any body experienced this problem. When I'm trying to delete a file from Video Centre > My videos directory, I'm receiving this error... "Unable to delete. File video.mp4 is open."
Do you have resolution for this? Tnx in advance.

I followed your steps but I got this message.... "USB data transfer mode activated. MASS MEMORY MAY NOT BE USED DURING THIS TIME."
Actually the video file was not there anymore in my File Mgr folder but the problem is the video file is still there in Video centre > My videos folder. When I tried to delete the file using "c" or Options > delete, the error says "Unable to delete. File video.mp4 is open."
I also tried to reset the phone to its factory settings but still video file was there.
I think this is a bug. Pls advice. Tnx in advance.

  • SnS-Superuse cant delete video files

    Hello all,
    Is the following behaviour acceptable?
The default SnS superuser account cant delete other user's uploaded video files!!!
Instead, the video file must be deleted by the same user!
How do you tackle with this?
    Thank you

I agree that it would be great if the superuser could delete any video file and I think it should be an option, but I have found that only the user that uploaded the file can delete it.

  • What is the best way to edit/sync two video files?

Has anyone had experience with editing 2 movies files?  I have recently taken video with 2 cameras of the same quality and am attempting to 'merge' the two video files.  What's the best way to 'sync' the 2 files?
    Thanks

The real answer is to do this in Final Cut Pro X with the new multicam feature with automatic syncing using the audio wave forms.
However, it is quite possible in iMovie.
Here is how I did it in iMovie.
I recently did this for a video of my niece's senior voice recital. (Video is below)
The key is to use the Cutaway feature of  iMovie. If you are not familiar with Cutaway, here is a good tutorial from Ken Stone.
I used the side camera as my base clips, and used the back camera as the cutaway clips. The back camera audio track was OK but had too much coughing and noise.
Here are tips for getting it lined up perfectly.
    1) In iMovie/Preferences make sure that you check "Display Time as hh:mm:ss:frames" so you can edit to the frame level. (Also, select "Show Advanced Tools so you get the Cutaway feature)
    2) In the iMovie Project View, set the thumbnail slider to 1/2 second so you have a great deal of control.
    3) Initially, leave the volume at 100% on the Cutaway track, so that both tracks are playing. You can hear when they are off.
    4) Click the "Waveforms" button in the Project view, so you get a visual cue of how to line up the tracks.
    5) Between the audible cues and the visual cues, you can nudge the cutaway back and forth one frame at a time by dragging until you have it perfect.
    6) When it is lined up to your satisfaction, set the volume slider of the Cutaway track to zero, and turn off the waveforms. You can also move the thumbnail slider back to 5 seconds or so.
    7) For some of the fine work, I switched to the "single row timeline view". This slows you down a bit, but lets you see the waveforms more clearly.
    8) I made heavy use of the iMovie Comment Marker feature. I watched the whole base video/audio track and inserted comment markers at the points where I wanted the Cutaway to begin and end. For example, a comment might say "Insert Cutaway 1". I would usually time the cutaway so it started at a distinct audio event, such as when the piano start. This comment marker made it easy to drag my cutaway to a point that was approximately correct.
    9) If you need to do a lot of cutaways, I find that it helps to use the SPLIT CLIP command in your project. This way you can have a single cutaway per clip, and this makes it easier to manage and is less processor and memory intensive for iMovie. I would use the comments to mark the entry and exit points of the cutaway as described above. I would then select that portion of the clip that included these markers plus a little more, so that a yellow border is around the selection. Then right-click/SPLIT CLIP (or CLIP/SPLIT CLIP in the top menu). This does not physically splt the clip within the Event. It only virtually splits the clip in the project.

  • Deleted video files still take up disk space

Hey guys! I'm using a 13-inch rMBP, late 2013, running OS X 10.10.1. Yesterday I deleted more than 40GB of video files from my "Movies" folder, and emptied the trash can. However, the 40GB of disk space didn't appear as available. I looked online and tried everything like resetting trash can authorization and restarting Time Machine, but they did not seem to work.
Meanwhile, in my disk usage I see more than 100GB of "others". I used Disk Inspector to scan my Macintosh HD and found 109 GB of hidden files. I believe this is much more than it should be.
Only video files seems to have this problem. I also deleted 2GB of documents, and they seemed fine.
So any suggestions or anyone else experiencing the same problem? Thanks a lot!

Sure hope you aren't afraid of Unix...
From the wife's Mac, open Terminal (applications / utilities / Terminal)
For all of these type in's I say to do, do whats inside the quotes and not the quotes themselves. Or do a copy and paste if you aren't sure on a letter... And press Return after you type them in.
    Type in "cd /"
    Type in "ls -al"
You should see a .Trashes in here at the top of the list.
    Type in "cd .Trashes"
Type in "ls" here and see what you get. It will probably be a folder named 501 for the admin account from your Mac.
If so, do an "rm -R /.Trashes/501/"
    and watch your disk space.
If it complains to you that you don't have permissions, you will have to type in "sudo rm -R /.Trashes/501/"

  • Delete video files in iPhone

Can I delete the video files in iPhone without using iTunes? If so, can you tell me how. Thanks!

For video transferred from your iTunes library, swipe across the video in the iPod to bring up the Delete button for the video.
Apple includes a Safari bookmark on the iPhone for the iPod User Guide, which can also be downloaded on your computer here.

  • Can't Sync Some Video Files

I have just spent the last few weeks using HandBrake to rip the video files off my TV Seasons and movie DVDs and importing them into iTunes. I used the same exact rip settings for all my DVDs. There are some that are able to be synced to my iPhone, while others result in iTunes telling me that "Video Name" was not copied to the iPhone "iPhone" because it cannot be played on this iPhone. Now, this is really strange because all of my videos are the EXACT SAME video format. The only difference I can see is a few kbps in the total bit rate and a different video dimension...
*Specs of a file that WILL sync:*
    Kind: MPEG-4 video file
    Bit Rate: 159 kbps
    Profile: Low Complexity
    Channels: Stereo
    Encoded With: HandBrake 0.9.2 2008
    Total Bit Rate: 1159 kbps
    Video Dimensions: 853x356
    Video Codec: MPEG-4
*Specs of another file that WILL sync:*
    Kind: MPEG-4 video file
    Bit Rate: 159 kbps
    Profile: Low Complexity
    Channels: Stereo
    Encoded With: HandBrake 0.9.2 2008
    Total Bit Rate: 1118 kbps
    Video Dimensions: 628x478
    Video Codec: MPEG-4
*Specs of a file that WILL NOT sync:*
    Kind: MPEG-4 video file
    Bit Rate: 159 kbps
    Profile: Low Complexity
    Channels: Stereo
    Encoded With: HandBrake 0.9.2 2008
    Total Bit Rate: 1154 kbps
    Video Dimensions: 853x478
    Video Codec: MPEG-4
*Specs of another file that WILL NOT sync:*
    Kind: MPEG-4 video file
    Bit Rate: 159 kbps
    Profile: Low Complexity
    Channels: Stereo
    Encoded With: HandBrake 0.9.2 2008
    Total Bit Rate: 1153 kbps
    Video Dimensions: 628x478
    Video Codec: MPEG-4
As you can see, there isn't much of a difference in the files that will and will not sync. I know that the files aren't corrupt because iTunes has no problem playing them, it just can't seem to sync it. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

Do you have the "show only the synched items" box checked? It's on the summary page when you have Apple TV selected under devices in iTunes. I had this problem and it took me a while to see it...now if my Apple TV would just stay connected to iTunes......or if someone could help me downgrade to 2.0 I'd be golden.
