Sync does not give PDA a device ID?

Hi,
I am relatively new to the Mobile infrastructure (and SAP in general).  I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions regarding a problem I am having.
We are using the MI 2.1 and the associated MAM application.    As a mobile device we are using an O2 XDA2 Pocket PC 2003 phone edition handheld.
I am having a problem syncing the device as it no matter who I login in as on the device and attempt to sync with the device never seems to get a device id.  Previously this device did have an id but it lost all settings due to being allowed to power down completely and resetting itself to the factory defaults.  The device claims to have synced successfully every time.
Having reinstalled the correct versions of creme and the mobile engine client I can log on to the device with a user id.  I have set up the settings correctly and tested them as per the instructions in this link.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/35/85ce4044bd0366e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
The test results were successful.  I have synced the device many many times and I cannot get a device id assigned to the device.  Previous to the device resetting and losing all data and settings we had no problem getting it to sync and it recieved a deviced id with no problems.
This is the message upon syncing.
Synchronization Log
Synchronization started.
Connection set up (without proxy) to:  http://ourserver/meSync/servlet/meSync?~syid=MAM&
Successfully connected with server.
Processing of inbound data began.
Inbound data processed.
I have looked at the details of the sync using MEREP_MON in the webas and the only relevant info I seem to get is as follows
"Return code from the RFC BAPI Wrapper Call : No mobile asset management scenario exists for user <USERNAME> (R3Key : )"
I have used <USERNAME> instead of the real username here.
I have also looked at the trace file from the client on the pda.
I am confused as the user I am logging in with is not the user that is specified in the error message above.  It is a user that previously worked perfectly with this device and still works fine when I test the user by running the desktop based Mobile Engine and do a sync.
If anyone has any suggestions or advice on this I would appreciate it.
Many thanks.

Niall,
Do you have the correct URL for the sync gateway?
In your message, you have a typo in one URL parameters:
http://ourserver/meSync/servlet/meSync?~syid=MAM&
it should be ~sysid instead of ~syid
With message like this, the common error comes from the wrong URL.
Please check that again.

    I go to Settings>Activate Device and it gives me a code but does not give me a page to log in. Any advice?

    I'm sure you figured it out by now, but I ran into the same problem.  I found this on the HBOgo site.  This help me.
    1) Launch HBO GO on your device.
    2) Navigate to the 'Settings' tab.
    3) Click the 'Activate Your Device' button - the next screen should show you your activation code.
    4) Navigate to www.hbogo.com/activate.
    5) Select Apple TV from the device drop down list.
    6) Select your TV provider.
    7) On the Activate a Device screen, enter the code displayed on your television (from step 3), click the 'Activate' button.
    8) You should see a 'Success!' message on both your television and your browser. Until the 'Success' message appears on your television screen, you will not be able to watch a video.
    9) You are ready to start streaming video on HBO GO!

  • When i sync my ipod touch (4gen), my music does not appear on my device? what is wrong?

    when I sync my ipod touch (4gen), my music does not appear on my device. What went wrong?

    Hello,
    The problem is that you just don't selected the music that you want to import.
    You can do this by opening iTunes, search your ipod in the superior bar, select it, then will appear a screen showing the information of your ipod, you can check how many songs are in your ipod, if there says nothing so theres the problem. In the superior bar, select Music, then click on the box "Sync Music", now select the songs you want right down. And press "Sync" That should solve the problem.
    Cheers

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

    When I connect my iPad with usb to my mac the iPad gives me a "blinking" message asking to trust the computer.  Problem is it does not give me enough time to select yes.  What am I doing wrong?  Help!

    Everything that you sync to the iPad is done through iTunes or from downloading from the cloud if they are iTunes purchases or through iTunes Match, if subscribed.
    It is also not possible to transfer music or certain other files though Bluetooth between other iPhones or Android devices. You can transfer between iOS devices, pictures through devices that are Airdrop capable.

    My itunes is update, iphone 3gs 4.3.4, system is windows vista home premium.
    Please help me.

    I also have the Mcaffe security centre so on the face of it we have very similar situations and I had not problems.
    You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
    When you go to the iTunes download page:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
    After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
    It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
    I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
    The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
    The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts.

  • Sync does not sync my passwords - EVER

    i started using sync now since foxmarks went down and have a few observations:
    bookmarks sync - that feature is very, very slow. sync happens in minutes and sometimes not complete and I have to manual start sync numerous times until everything has been syncd
    passwords sync - does not happen, EVER, none of my passwords are syncd.
    that addon is not very good, I can't even make backups or see the contents of my sync folder online. There should be a way to save all your data so you can import it when you reinstall. having to rely on a slow and buggy sync is not good.

    1. Xmarks replaced Foxmarks a few years ago, when they added other browsers beyond Firefox to their service. Xmarks hasn't shut down yet, that was planned for early January 2011. That may not even happen - UPDATE: Xmarks Sync NOT Dead Yet - http://www.xmarks.com/about/shutdown
    <br />
    2. In Sync preferences there are 5 items to select for what type of data is sync'd. '''Firefox will: Sync everything''' is the default setting. Any chance you changed a setting there?<br />
    3. "not very good" - in your opinion. Sync wasn't created to mimic other services, like Xmarks. The developers included the features that they think are important and are trying to keep it uncomplicated as they can. Being able to view your data on the Sync server would have greatly complicated the encryption of your data and the retrieval of that data from the server. Unlike Xmarks, your Firefox Sync data is encrypted as it leaves your PC and then unencrypted when it is downloaded to Firefox or Firefox Home on another device. Your "Sync Key" is only good in Firefox, so your data can only be read in Firefox - no one else has access to your data in an unencrypted format.<br />
    4. To recover your data from the Sync server, you either install the Sync extension on Firefox 3.6 or install Firefox 4 which includes Sync (once it is released) and you setup your account information on the new installation. You then sync the new installation with the data that is on the server.<br />
    5. As far as speed of the sync goes, while the initial sync might take 30 to 45 minutes, subsequent syncing is done very quickly depending upon the differences in your data between the device and the server.

    Disk Utility sees the disc but does not give a repair option.
    What can I do?

    The good thing about mac-centric resellers such as OWC, is they have people on staff that can answer questions without you buying things first. They also have how-to information, and instructions are included in many of their products. I saw a link to watch a DIY video in one of their pages; an example of a RAID (with its own power supply) is shown on their drives page. Also a few in there, with no power supplies, for less money.
    If I were looking to backup and perhaps also have a partition for a system clone, I'd consider something like one of these: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/1394/USB/EliteAL/eSATA_FW800_FW400_USB
    Some ideas on the RAID backup methods appear in google search, some of the pages are ideas and concepts; and the better ones also warn about using RAID for the only backup plan.
    Oh, OWC has live chat. Haven't tried it, nor have I bought anything from them. I have what appears to be two products from them, but have not used either. One is in a box as-new, but has only USB2.0 ports & my Macs needed FW400/800. It has been said their RAM is a good way to upgrade, too. But I can't confirm!
    A 'RAID-ready' unit for backup may be more versatile for just that, but I have not checked into these details. I use single HDDs in powered enclosures, and usually manually make backup clones to FW drives, of bootable OS X systems. Some of the OWC raid-ready use eSATA ports so that may not be viable for a computer without them.
    The unused in-box external drive I have is like the base model in the link above. However mine is USB2.0 (maybe) and won't boot my older Macs due to hardware variance; and my preference would be for FireWire options, these models do offer that. But the one I have does not. Dual 500GB HDDs, and they could be used in tandem as a RAID. That would be a choice set up in software. I'm not sure and not interested enough to read up just now.
    My backup method is not automatic, or a moving backup plan, if I don't get a move-on and make full system clones. I do make copies of photos and documents the manual way, to USB external drives; and occasionally backup to DVD or CD media. And USB flash, that helps to move files between computers without need to use file sharing via wi-fi. {Like Why fly? Walking is better exercise unless one is a bird. Squawk!}
    https://www.google.com/#q=raid+backup+mac
    Depending on the ports in your Mac, you may be able to use other cables to attach between a backup or externally enclosed hard disk drive with multiple partition and bootable clone in one of them. Not sure about the Thunderbolt, and where that is the main port, adapters are required to access other devices, as allowed.
    Anyway, I am going on and on, yet not really saying anything.
    My ideas would not be all that interesting to follow as a backup
    plan when matching available newer hardware to task, but you
    can get some into better ideas if you are not in a rush. Get a
    good setup and then look into more an betterer stuff.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • IPad does not appear in iTunes Devices list

    My MacBook Pro, iPhone, and iPad are all on the same network, however my iPad frequently does not appear in iTunes Devices when not physically connected by USB.  No problem with my iPhone.  Anyone else with this problem?  Any solution?  (Yes, all OS/iTunes softwares are current.)
    Further detail, to temporarily fix this issue, I physically connect my iPad via USB to sync it.  Temporarily the iPad will be seen in the device list allowing sycing to occur while remotely charging, but at some random time later my iPad is no longer found by iTunes - again without the physical USB link.  So, yes there is a work around, but it is annoying to be so up and down with this feature.
    Any ideas are appreciated.

    photo clicked with flash does not give clear image

    I did some more testing with this, and it appears to be a Gmail problem with iOS iPhoto.
    I called Apple support, and this issue was escalated to engeneering.
    When sending photos from iPhoto for iOS via Gmail from the iOS device, only the small and medium sized photos can be opened in Mail on the iOS device.  The large and original photos do not open in Mail.
    This occured across different devices I tested, including iPad 2, 3, and 2 separate iPhone 4S devices.  All were updated to the lastest firmware.  iPhoto was uninstalled, and reinstalled.
    When sending and receiving photos from iPhoto for iOS via iCloud me.com email servers, all the photos of different sizes could be opened in Mail fine on the iOS devices.
    It appears that Gmail servers somehow change the way the photos are encoded, and make them not viewable on the iOS device.  Very disappointing, since the native Mail program has no problem, and photos sent via gmail or other are fine.
