Sync email account

Hello I have a new  X3 Compact phone which I got a few days ago.  I cannot sync email accounts on it (which is very easy to do on iphone and blackberry). The error message is “could not open connection to server”. I have read your troubleshooting advice.  In the Access Point Names menu nothing is set so that includes Name APN Proxy and port, Username, Server APN types etc.  I have the APN protocol as IPv4.  Do I need to provide inputs for that menu and if so where do I get the information?  Do I need to input the name of my email hoster?  Is there anything else I need to do to enable set up to work for the email account addition?

Your email provider would be the best place to visit for this type of question as they normally have a setup guide for all platforms

  • Can't sync email account from laptop to iphone - greyed out in itunes info

    Hi there ...
Everythings working fine on my iphone except I haven't been able to sync my email account.
When I go hook up the phone ... and go to info ... the sync mail account is greyed out and I can't check it.
When I enter the email account on the iphone manually .... it won't connect to the outgoing server. I know all the info entered is correct as I double check it on my laptop. So I delete the account and try to sync ... and itunes is greyed out ...
Am I doing something wrong ... do you have to have all the info entered on the iphone first? or should it create it automatically. I guess I made the mistake of not syncing mail when plugged in my phone the very first time ... I thought it would be no problem later ... but that is not the case ...
    Any help ...?

Hi - similar problem: cannot sync iphoto events to my new iphone 4. Itunes goes halfway through the process of reformatting the photos, sometimes restarting this process, then tells me everything is synced....but no photos have been moved to my iphone.
    Help!

  • Sync email accounts to iphone

I'm a beginner and need help. Just switched from BB to iphone4. Was able to access both my work and home emails on BB, but can't figure out how to do this on the iphone. When I hooked the usb cord from iphone to computer and opened itunes, I thought I synced everything, but nothing was moved to my iphone, so I obviously did something wrong! Can somebody help?

You can have all accounts loaded and turn individual accounts On or Off in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
So I'm looking for the email account sync option.
iCloud account means it's a single account, right? That's the one you're talking about. Is there a way to tranfer more account via icloud?
No, I am talking about any/all email accounts in your mail app on your computer.
All email accounts on your computer are transferred via iCloud sync.
It doesn't matter if they are google or yahoo or iCloud or your local ISP or whatever. If you have an email account in your Mail app on your computer, it is transfered to your iDevice using iCloud.

  • Cannot Set Exchange Active Sync Email Account ot Default

OK, I am having a problem setting the Default Email Account as Exchange Active Sync. I am seeing this in iPhone and IPad both running 6.1.2. The Active Sync Mail account is installed on both devices and works fine. The problem is I am unable for some reason to change the Default Email Account from iCloud to the Exchange Active Sync Account installed. When I select the option to change Default Email Account, iCloud is there and checked however the Active Sync Account does not even show up as a selectable option here. Please help! Thanks

  • ITunes doesn't sync email accounts phone-to-Outlook

The old computer is dead, the new computer now has Outlook 2010, the iPhone has several email accounts it knows about, it got that information from the old computer when it still worked, I can't get iTunes to copy account information from the iPhone to Outlook on the new machine. Is it possible? I account syncing only one way? (computer to iPhone)
It has synced contacts, done a backup, copied apps, there are no error messages.
I have the Sync Mail Accounts from Outlook setting selected on the iTunes "Info" tab. But the account information is not being copied.

What can be selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync prefereces with iTunes for an email account or accounts is for transferring the email account settings only from your computer to your iPhone so you don't have to manually create the account with the iPhone's Mail app. This only needs to be selected once. After the email account settings have been transferred to your iPhone, this can be deselected. This does not have to remain selected since there is nothing gained and no benefit with leaving this selected.

  • Trouble syncing email account

My mac mail works fine with my iphone. My other email is through my university and I cannot get it to sync...it says something about a POP or IMAP account? Does anyone know how to set it up? I do not even know what the POP or IMAP is..the mail account is through Microsoft outlook for the university and is an .edu. What should I set it up as? Thanks!

Which program do you used on Windows? Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows address book etc?

  • How do I sync email accounts from my mac to my iPhone?

I used to be able to sync my email accounds to my phone using iTunes.  I dont see that option anymore?

With the iPod connected to your computer, go to the Summary pane under devices (your iPod) and check the appropriate boxes.  From the Users Guide:'
    Calendars
    Â
You can sync calendars from applications such as iCal on a Mac, or from Microsoft
Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync calendars with multiple
applications. On a PC, you can sync calendars with only one application at a time.)

  • TS4083 How can I sync all email accounts to my iphone?

There used to be an info section in iTunes that allowed you to sync email accounts from your iMac to your phone but this option seems to have been removed now from iTunes. Has it moved to iCloud somehwere? If so, how can I sync the accounts from my iMac? Thanks is advance for your help!

Thanks! I knew how to do that already :/ Just upgraded to a 5s and didn't want to manually enter my accounts and server settings again (there are 10 email accounts) as I actually don't remember most of the passwords. I backed up settings from my old iPhone 4 before swapping the sims over and have managed to restore the 5s from that backup which copied over all of my email accounts, great success! However, just had to access cpanel for all accounts to reset the passwords as they are not copied over.
Thank you for your prompt reply!

  • Can't sync back email accounts

Today I deleted my one email account on the phone. When I went to sync via itunes, it wouldn't add it back. Syncing email accounts option is selected and I have since rebooted the phone and tried with no success.
During syncing, iTunes even shows "syncing email accounts with iPhone" but it's still not added.
It's not a big hassle to add it back by hand but is there a solution to this?
    Thanks!

    Hey Kevin,
Try Resetting the Sync History from the iSync applications preferences window as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23030
Then go back to iTunes and choose to sync mail accounts again.
You can also overwrite all email accounts on the iPhone with email accounts from the Mac by clicking on the iPhone in iTunes(under devices)> Click on the Info tab> check replace mail accounts on the iPhone> Apply.

  • PROBLEM ADDING EMAIL ACCOUNTS

    Hi,
    Hope someone can help me.
I have just received my Iphone 3Gs. I have been trying for hours to sync my google mail accounts
to the phone via itunes and also manually but so far only one will sync and download emails?
The phone keeps saying my password is wrong when it isn't.
I have tried re-setting and the same problem still exists. I have tried via Itunes and then manually adding my password to the iphone and still the problem exists.
Can anyone help please as this is very annoying.
    Thanks!!

Deselect sync email account settings under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by selecting Apply.
Follow this by deleting and manually recreating the accounts on your iPhone.
If this is successful, do not reselect sync email account settings under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes which is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone which doesn't always work properly. If this does work and you reselect this after doing so followed by a sync, you will re-transfer the problem to your iPhone.

  • Explain mail and iCloud...sync all accounts?

Can someone explain if iCloud syncs your email addresses and email across devices? I have a handful of email accounts (work, personal, band, etc). I mainly use mail on my iPhone and my pc...never on my iPad because if I receive an email there, I won't have it on my phone later it I need access to it.
Does iCloud sync email accounts across devices? If so, how can I set this up to work?
To clarify, I want to open mail on my phone, receive new mail, close the mail app...then go to my iPad, open mail app and see the new mail I just received on the phone. Is this possible without having to do any forwarded with the me.com account?
    Thanks in advance

I tried it all. Didn't work.
I also do have the same problem as described here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21993223#21993223.
The iCloud mail configuration from within System Preferences > iCloud does not work. I can tick Contacts and Notes but the sync does not work either.
Really not sure what to try next.

  • How do I sync multiple email accounts on ipad

So I'm now, dubiously, the lucky owner of iPad mini with up to date software and iMac with latest software.
It now seems apple have decided they don't want me to use more than one email account and so have stopped me being able to sync them ? Even for apple this is breathtaking in its arrogance and fascistic nature...
    Anyone any ideas?

By synchronize, I suspect you mean that reading or deleting a message on one device will result it its being read or deleted on the other device. If so, this is only possible for IMAP accounts or exchange accounts. This is not an iPad limitation but a limitation in the email system protocols. iCloud mail is an IMAP system; so, iCloud email will synchronize automatically. There could be a slight delay in this, but it works.
Many email systems (Comcast may be one of the more common) are POP accounts. Those won't sychronize at all regardless of device used.
If by synchronize you mean that you can have the account on multiple devices and that's all; no problem regardless of the system. But, remember that you will download all your POP messages even if you have read and deleted them on another device. That can be a pain.

  • Can Multiple email accounts on Galaxy S4 sync with iCloud & non-iCloud email?

Hello… has anyone successfully set up multiple email accounts (iCloud/Yahoo/AT&T/etc.) on their Samsung Galaxy S4 Jelly Bean 4.2? I searched the forums and it has been said that configuration settings depend on the combination of wireless service provider + device model + email providers + Android version.
My S4 is from AT&T and if this scenario can't work, I have to cancel my contract in a few days (although that would be the last resort). From checking the forums, not everyone has been able to get the S4 to work with iCloud. In my case, I hope to sync up with iCloud and non-iCloud email which might be trickier.
Here is one thread that helps with settings, but doesn't seem to address multiple or non-iCloud accounts: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22435596#22435596
    Some background info…
Although Gmail just works on Android devices, I plan to primarily use Apple/Yahoo/AT&T email (at least initially).
I don’t yet have Apple mail/iCloud, but plan to. I am partially switched to the Mac (Mtn Lion), but haven’t completed the jump from Windows.
I don’t have an iPhone (so hopefully that makes the setup less complicated.)
I mostly care about email on the S4 (I’m not concerned about syncing up contacts, calendar, music, etc.).
Apologies for the long post, but hopefully I’ve included the necessary background info for the questions below:
Is it possible to setup multiple (iCloud/Yahoo/AT&T) emails on the Samsung Galaxy S4 from AT&T so that they sync nicely?
From the S4, if I reply to an email, will the Sender in the email reply be the same account which received the email? Or, (as I’ve read in the excerpt below) will the Sender for all email replies from the S4 be set from a fixed/primary account?
Although the first two questions above are the most urgent for now, I'd appreciate pointers if you see something that should be changed in the configuration settings below.
    Thanks in advance!

After spending quite some time trying to get my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II setup with iCloud mail, this is what finally worked. Thanks to everyone for the various bits that helped lead me in the right direction. For those who need lots of detail, I hope the below helps. Please don't ask me about any other specific Android phones as I'm not expert but thought someone out there could benefit from my experience.
    INCOMING SERVER SETTINGS
User Name: username (do not enter @me,com or @mac.com)
    Password: (enter your password)
    IMAP server: imap.mail.me.com
    Security type: SSL
    Port: 993
IMAP path prefix: p##- (you can find this by checking your account settings on your Mac. Mine was p03- so that's what I entered here)
    Press NEXT
    OUTGOING SERVER SETTINGS
    SMTP server: smtp.mail.me.com
    Security type: TLS
    Port: 587
check the box next to "Require sign-in" if it's not already checked
User name: username  (do not enter @me.com or @mac.com)
    Password (enter your password)
    Press NEXT
Your phone will check the server settings and you should be able to see your email now.
And another poster provided these additional tips…
Definitely select SSL/TLS and accept all certificates
Now here's the zinger: Authentication should be LOGIN
After figuring this out, I finally (after many hours of searching and testing) got to my outgoing server settings, which are: smtp.me.com
    NONE for security type
    Tic "Require Sign-in"
    Authentication is PLAIN
And another poster's question about the Sender's email address for multiple accounts…
Managed to get this all set up however, Android only seems to allow you to send from your primary address and only reply from your primary address even if a mail was sent to one of the other addresses.
Any ideas how to get around this as I have three addresses beneath my primary which I need to both send from and reply from.

You're unlikely to find many people with experience of configuring multiple email accounts on a specific Samsung device, here on the Apple forum for an Apple service. Try the Samsung forums for help setting up your Samsung phone.
There are a few posts with general info relating to setting up an iCloud email account on Android here if you search though.

  • Syncing two iphones each with different email accounts

My wife and I each have an iphone. When I sync mine with itunes, my password for my yahoo mail account (as reflected on the iphone) gets changed to my wife's password. The result is that I cannot send email from my iphone. When I delete the account and add it back, the password automatically changes again. My wife's phone does not have this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Once you have your iPhone syncing email properly for each phone (one at a time), next time you're in iTunes, click on iPhone, then the Info tab then scroll down to where you can choose to sync your email accounts. Since you already have it synced, you can uncheck it. This way it won't get overwritten. If you ever need to replace ALL your email settings you can have it sync again.
Do the same with your wife's.
My wife and I use the same iTunes and get conflicts all the time for this and for Contacts. I'm sure there's a way to have them coexist nicely, but I wouldn't sweat it. Once your mail is working, there is no need to continuously have them sync.

  • I synced two of my email accounts via gmail's POP3 thing. But now my iphone's gmail inbox shows a random selection of emails (not most recent ones that are in my inbox). How can I make my iphone inbox match what I see when I log on using a PC?

I synced two of my email accounts via gmail's POP3 capabilities. But now my iphone's gmail inbox only shows a random selection of emails (i.e. right now it is May 31, 2013 but the emails in my inbox are a couple from Nov 12, a few from Oct 12, and then some way older than that and so on.When I log into my gmail from a computer, I see all my emails in the logical, standard order. How can I make my iphone inbox match what I see when I log on using a PC?

If you're trying to decide between using POP and IMAP, we encourage you to use IMAP.
Unlike POP, IMAP offers two-way communication between your web Gmail and your email client. This means when you log in to Gmail using a web browser, actions you perform on email clients and mobile devices (ex: putting mail in a 'work' folder) will instantly and automatically appear in Gmail (ex: it will already have a 'work' label on that email the next time you sign in).
IMAP also provides a better method to access your mail from multiple devices. If you check your email at work, on your mobile phone, and again at home, IMAP ensures that new mail is accessible from any device at any given time.
Finally, IMAP offers a more stable experience overall. Whereas POP is prone to losing messages or downloading the same messages multiple times, IMAP avoids this through two-way syncing capabilities between your mail clients and your web Gmail.
