Sync error - connection between handheld and desktop can't be established

My sync quit working. I synched successfully a couple days ago, then updated my software and changed my conduit to 'Outlook' based on a message I saw here (trying to get my contacts and calendar into outlook so I can sync into a new Blackberry Storm). Since then, I can't sync at all.
I have tried everything I can think of. I have turned off/on my PC, soft reset my Treo 650, tried to reload the desktop software from my original install disk from Verizon but that didn't work - I got the following error message while it was removing the files "ERROR 1316 A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:\windows\installer\palmone.msi"
So I downloaded the software from this site as a 'repair'. It didn't fix anything.
Silly question though, could this be because the phone is turned off now? Even though I want to still use it as a PDA only? Please help, I'm not a techie...

since the data is on the device I would suggest uninstalling the palm software, deleting the Palm folder under Program files then reinstalling.

I recently got the Palm T/X. I was able to upload the programs I needed, but now I can not establish a connection between the PDA and the computer. I even bought another USB hotsync cable thinking my original cable was faulty. Still no luck. I have noticed that the cable itself seems easy to plug into the PDA but I have to physically struggle to disconnect it from the PDA. Any idea what the problem could be? Thanks for any help.

The hotsync manager icon is there but it will not open. Tried to open it manually without success. I did get to the Palm InstallShield which said it would have to erase everything on the PDA to reconfigure the hotsync setup. Not willing to take that risk as I have some expensive medical software on there now. I have tried all 3 USB ports on my computer. Any other suggestions will be much appreciated. I simply want to HotSync!

Connection between notebook and desktop

Hi I have a Tecra 8000 running windows xp pro,is there any way I can hook up the laptop to my PC, which runs on windows xp home,the reason is for the transfer of material from one to the other,is there a problem likely with the different windows!I have a dvd drive on the laptop but not on the PC! anyone help please.

If you want to make Peer-to-peer connection between two machines you can do it using Cross-over Cable.
If you make Peer-to peer connection please be sure that both machines have the same Domain name (e.g. PrivatLAN). Be also careful with IP-Address. Use class B IP address.
Example:
machine1: 192.168.100.10
machine2: 192.168.100.20
The subnet mask is: 255.255.255.0
One more important thing is that in Local Area Connection Properties under General there must be installed File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks who allows another computer to access resources on this computer. This must be done on both machines.
If you still have problems write again.

Connection between iPhone and desktop Mac

OK so just how connected are iPhones and desktop Macs now? I ask because I just deleted mail from my iPhone and it [seemed] as if the same mail was deleted from my iMac. And this was not mail using my iCloud addy.

Yes that is what I observed.
There have been other strange things going on with Mail on both the iPhone and the iMac so I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was one of them, but still I thought I might get a hint on this problem.

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
Copy all sessionstore files (e.g., sessionstore.bak, sessionstore.js) to a safe location (e.g., your Documents folder). Whatever was saved before is in one or both of those files.
This problem of a window sometimes loading the correct number of tabs but the tabs not being navigated to the corresponding pages has been mentioned before, but I do not recall anyone identifying what causes it or how to solve it. If Firefox saved the URLs of those pages, they will be in one or both of those sessionstore files.
These threads have suggestions on how to "mine" the old file to extract the URLs:

What's the connection between iPhoto and Desktop Images?

I've had a problem for a couple weeks now, where I want to change my desktop wallpaper image and it won't stay set to the new image after I re-boot or re-start.
Yesterday, I stumbled upon a suggestion to re-load images into iPhoto so they show up under Events. I set the wallpaper image, rebooted and the old image came back.
This morning, I went back into iPhoto and selected each of the folders where I could see the new image. I selected the image, set it as desktop wallpaper and re-started. It worked. I changed the image to something else using the System Preferences --> Desktop & Screen Saver option, then re-booted and confirmed the new image I had selected was still set.
Voila! The problem was solved.
But what I don't know, is why iPhoto had anything to do with System Preferences --> Desktop & Screen Saver selections. I was trying to select the image in the main Pictures folder where I've always kept the images for my desktop but they wouldn't stay. The only way I was able to fix the problem is to use iPhoto and somehow, whatever it was that got corrupted was now fixed.
I've spent a good few hours over the course of the last couple weeks trying to fix the issue but I haven't yet found an actual fix until now as I stumbled upon it myself by chance. Any insights one may be able to share would be greatly appreciated.

According to your post, my understanding is that you want to know the difference between User Profile Service and User Information List.
The user profile store in SharePoint contains information about users. User profiles can be created by importing users from a user account directory, or they can be created manually.
In most environments Active Directory will be used as the source for creating user profiles. The user profile imports can be scheduled to run on a regular basis and they can be either incremental or full.
However, the information in the user information list is stored in the UserInfo table in the content database of the site.
A user gets added to the user information list when he or she has accesses the site for the first time.
In the user information list a user's email address, login name and name are stored. SharePoint will make sure that user profile property information for those fields for users that are added to the user information list is sent to the user.

Error connection between vwlc and AP

I am new to Wireless network and have been tasked with setting v WLC Cisco and AIR-CAP702I-I-K9. I followed some guides to configure the WLC, but however the APs are not joining the controller. with console cable connected to the AP i get the following;

TASKS app is inconsistent btwn Handheld and Desktop

HI, I have a Palm TX with 5.2 Palm OS and a 6.2 Desktop.
With respect to the Tasks appliction, there is inconsistency between handheld and desktop.
On the Desktop, Tasks with due date in the future can be suppressed with the "Show Only Due Item" option checked.
However, on the handheld, this option is not available. This causes ALL my future tasks to be displayed on the handheld rendering Task list difficult to process.
Any solutions to this issue? Have others faced similar problem? (are you all as frustrated as I am?!)

Firstly, how to you reach the server from Internet, via host name, public IP address or VPN?
If you need to remote to the server via host name, can you nslookup the host name and get the correct public IP address of it?
Do you install the AD DS role on the server? Please let us know if you need the active directory environment.

Can someone please tell me a simple but effective method for burning a slideshow to DVD? Now that the connection between iPhoto and iDVD no longer exists, I can't figure out a way to get there with an acceptable quality result.

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar. Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com. Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides themes from iDVD 5-7. The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:

You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

Does the iPad and iBooks only sync in iCloud for purchases as I appear to be doing something wrong. Error while creating connection between Java and ABAP

I am getting the following error message when I am trying to test the connection between JAVA and ABAP systems.
1. The system ID is valid
2. The system was retrieved.
3. The system object represents an SAP system
4. The following parameters are valid: Web AS Protocol (http) Web AS Host Name (s09f71v06.svr.bankone.net:8100)
5. The host name s09f71v06.svr.bankone.net was resolved successfully.
6. The server s09f71v06.svr.bankone.net *could not be pinged* successfully.
I have JAVA and ABAP on the same system. I am trying to establish a connection. I have checked all the settings and they looks fine. I have also pinged from other system to this server and the Ping works fine.
Please do let m eknow where do I need to check for the errros or logs for the above error message.

Check the relevant services are test are active on the Backend system through SICF trransaction.
Also make sure that default icm services are running.See note 517484.
More important the connector test in the portal system should work properly,recheck the WAS path etc are correct.

You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.

Do connections between Outlook and Exchange Server continue to sync without proper DNS?

We were acquired by an other company that uses Office365.com, so we are moving accounts over from Intermedia, our existing provider, to your service. My question is this: If i point our MX records over to Office365, will we be able to work with the old calendar
and email items using the existing connection between Outlook and Intermedia Exchange? I understand that no new external mail will be delivered to the Intermedia accounts, but will we still have access to the existing items in the old mailbox as long as we
have the Intermedia accounts?
My plan is to receive new mail at Office365.com while taking our time to copy over old emails from the Intermedia folder to Office 365 folders.

According to your description, your accounts are moved from on-premise Exchange server to Exchange online server and you have the doubt about the availability of calendar and emails through the on-premise Exchange server.
However, since it’s related to Exchange online, to get more professional and quicker help, I recommend you post it on our Exchange online forum, as Ed said.

Connection between O and BP is missing

Hi,
When i check inconsistency for a user, i am getting " Connection between "O" and "BP" is missing. When i check the Org.unit in PPOSA_BBP, i could see no BP exists for that Org.unit where user is assigned. I have replicated the org.unit from HR system but yet the BP hasnt been generated. Can you please share your idea on this.

Hi Prasath,
This might be because you need to assign the user to a Purchasing Organisation or a Purchasing Group. If the user do not have BP created then you can do this by using tcode USERS_GEN.
Go to USERS_GEN and follow below steps :
1. Select Create User From Existing SU01 user
2. Enter the org id of the POrg or Pgroup under which you want to assign the user
3. Select country and execute
4. In next window one popup will occur, select Area Of User
5. In next popup enter the user id
6. Next select the user and click Ok.
7. This will create a BP and CP for the user and assigns the BP to the Org id of the POrg or Pgroup.
8. Now check the consistency of the user it will show all green.
It might give you error like eMail id for BP XXXXX is missing if the SU01 profile of the user does not contain any user id but it is not critical.
You can open the BP in BP tcode and enter the email id of the user.
Let us know if it solves your issue.

No connection between iPhone and computer

I have No connection between iPhone and computer. Please help me. My iPhone (4s) went nuts a little while ago. Nothing happend when I connected the charger. I had to take out and put it back in again and again and again, between 2-10 times before the charger finally was connected. It's been like this for a while now and a did'nt really have that mutch problem with it. Until today when I tried to sync/backup/restore the whole phone. It started to sync but stoped at the sync of the 5:th app. tried to start over but now my computer can't "find" the phone. It says that the USB-device is not reconizeble.
Please help me.
