  • Error message iPhone 5s could not be synced because the sync failed to start

My iPhone 5s will not sync i get the error message  "iPhone 5s could not be synced because the sync failed to start"
    running IOS 7.1.2
    Macbook Pro running 10.9.4
    iTunes 11.3.1.(2)
i did not load any new apps this just started. Thanks.

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • New iPad Mini sync Failed to Start in iTunes

I got a iPad Mini for Christmas and I set it all up that day. I connected it to my Macbook Pro days later and it is telling me the sync failed to start. Both devices are updated to the most recent software. My iPhone can connect to iTunes just fine. Why won't my iPad? I tried unplugging it and replugging it back in and turning it off and on. I tried restarting. I have looked on many questions and nothing seems to help. Thank you!

I restarted my ipad and it fixed it.. I am not sure what I did.

    Hello ther,e arleenrz.
It sounds like you're getting an error that is preventing you from being able to sync your iOS device. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for resolving issues such as those:

  • I'm getting a message "Sync failed to start." when I try to sink my iPod with iTunes. What should I do?

I'm getting a message "Sync failed to start" when I try to sync my iPod Touch 4 to iTunes. Of, course, it worked when I took it to the Apple store for help. Now I'm having the problem again at home. :(  What should I do?

  • Sync failed to start w/ iTunes 10.7, iPod Touch 3rd gen

Since upgrading to iTunes 10.7 on Windows 7x64, I have had trouble getting my iPod Touch (3rd gen, 5.1.1) to sync. I am getting the message "sync failed to start". This happens with either WiFi or USB connection to the device. I know the iPod WiFi is working because the Remote app shows my iTunes library, fetches email, etc.
After installing iTunes 10.7, when I connected via USB, Windows tried to search for and install new drivers. After a very long delay, I canceled the search and continued using the existing drivers. I'm not sure if this is related.

I have resolved the problem by 'shutting down' my MacBook ('restarting' the computer was not sufficient to resolve it). While I was at it, I took the battery out briefly before rebooting – don't know if this made the difference, but I do know that Apple Tech Support have instructed me to remove the battery momentarily on previous occasions when resolving other issues with the computer. Anyway, either just shutting down (or shutting down + removing the battery) seems to have resolved the problem, as iTunes is once again recognising my iPod Touch and I'm able to sync again. Phew!

  • I get an error message that sync failed to start

When I try to sync my Ipod Touch it shows that it is waiting to sync but then I get an error message that sync failed to start.  I have tried restore and re starting my computer but I still get the same message, what is going on and how do I fix it? Please help!

Quit iTunes, restart your computer, restart your iPad and try again. If it doesn't work with a restart of the iPad, try a reset of the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • IOS 5.1 sync fail to start

Just updated to iTunes 10.6 and iOS 5.1 on iPhone 4S.
Despite repeated attempts, including turning "sync over wi-fi" off, sync fails to start.

    Suggestion:
Assuming your OS software and version of iTunes are both up to date, with iPhone connected and iTunes running, Power Off iPhone (hold power button on top until red slider appears, then slide slider to power off), then power iPhone back on (hold power button on top until apple appears on iPhone screen).
In iTunes, with phone still connected, select iPhone in Devices and Summary screen, if phone does not sync after a minute or so, click Sync button in iTunes. If phone does not sync then, on iPhone choose Settings/General/iTunes Wi-Fi Sync and click Sync Now.
If that doesn't work, try changing a phone option in iTunes (such as un-check "Sync this phone over Wi-Fi"), and with phone still connected, quit then re-launch iTunes, and if Sync does not start automatically, click iTunes Sync button.
If iPhone still does not sync, I suggest calling 1-800-MY-IPHONE.
My iPhone still does not sync automatically daily over wi-fi even though that option is set, but it will sync  when connected to computer. So I am guessing there is still a bug somewhere.
