Sync from ATV to Itunes

Ok my ATV shoe in the device list and it is streaming. How do I get movies I have downloaded on ATV to Itunes? Is it suppose to be automatic? Because stuff that is on my ATV is not showing up in Itunes. I can sync from Itunes to ATV but I a can seem to do it the other way. i have tried to research this but can't find much. Just a simple few steps on what I should try would be greatly apprciated.
Thanks.

This is an all volunteer effort. Maybe no one who knows the answer has yet looked at your questions. You only posted it two hours ago. You may need to be a bit more patient.
And yes, your question is worded a bit oddly. What does "Okay my ATV shoe" mean? However, if I understand your question, (and I'm not sure I do) Control (or right) click on the items you want to transfer back to your computer and select Transfer Purchase.
Best of luck.

  • Can I stream and sync from the same itunes library to one AppleTV?

Can I stream and sync from the same itunes library to one AppleTV?

From what I can tell this is a bug.
A very Frustrating bug. When the take 2 update launched I was streaming movies via "shared movies" from my synched computer without any issues. However after a couple of recent iTunes updates all the "shared" menus stopped appearing and I can no longer stream anything from my main computer.
When I open up my macbook though everything streams fine, all the "shared" menus immediately appear.
Numerous restarts, factory resets and reinstalling the 2.0 software have done nothing to help this issue.
If anyone has any more light on the subject it'd be great to hear. Also I'm not sure which update broke it because I went about a month not using the apple tv.

  • How transfer movies from itunes to apple tv but not from aTV to itunes

I want to transfer the movies and tv shows that I have in iTunes to my Apple TV but I dont want the content of my apple tv to be transfered to itunes, I dont have enough space in my macbook. I tried to sync them but it automatically copies the content of apple tv to itunes and when I cancel the sync it threatens me to erase the content of my apple tv. I took the risk and disconnected itunes from my apple tv, nothing purchased on apple tv was erased but the movies that miraculously were able to be copied from itunes to atv were erased from atv (i still have them on itunes). I still want to transfer those movies to my apple tv, but whenever I do that apple tv keeps syncing with itunes and sends everything to my macbook. I just want to free space of my macbook without erasing anything from apple tv.

    It's the way it works.
the iTunes library is supposed to be 'in sync' with AppleTV, so anything bought on AppleTv copies to iTunes to keep things in sync.
If you delete from iTunes it'll delete from appletv too.
There's no manual way to get stuff off appletv so you must make a backup of the files transferred to itunes.
If you then delete the files from their folder direct (right click on a file in itunes and open it's location) but DON'T delete the entry in itunes, you'll free space up on the laptop. You must make a copy first onto say a DVD or external drive unless you're happy for things just to be on appletv and to lose the if it fails/breaks. Remember you cannot manually access the files in appletv to do a file transfer.

  • Restore from ATV to iTunes

My HD crashed and I started fresh with no data but whatever remained on my iPhone and ATV. My question is:
How can I retreive back from ATV (old version) to iTunes my photos, videos and songs... etc.?
Everytime I go to Computers I have two choices either Add Shared iTunes Library or click on my old grayed library that says:
I get the message "Disconnect from iTunes, disconnecting from iTunes library will remove any iTunes content that has been synced with your computer!"

no, the appletv offers no facility to restore content back to itunes.

  • New voice memos not syncing from iphone to itunes

My voice memos are not syncing from my iPhone4 to iTunes.  Everything has been restarted.  Everything is up-to-date.  The voice memo box is checked.  What is going on?  Thanks.

    Hey Colonel,
I read this on another thread then confirmed it when I bought an App on my iPhone then did a sync. At first, it appeared that the App was being copied to the iTunes library, but when I checked under Applications, it was not there.
So I went to the File menu, and selected Transfer Purchases from iPhone. It again showed that it was copying to iTunes, and this time it really did.
Not sure why it's not automatic, but it's a minor extra step.

  • Applications no-longer syncing from iPhone to iTunes

I've had an iPhone 4 since December 2010. Up until a couple of weeks ago it was syncing happily with iTunes and apps purchased/downloaded on the iPhone were transferring over to iTunes every time the phone was connected and a sync initiated. (although, sometimes multiple syncs would be required to make sure all apps transferred; but 'new' apps would appear in the library)
A couple of weeks ago this stopped. I plug the phone in, select "sync" or "transfer purchases from iPhone" -- the progress bar at the top shows "copying [app name]" and goes through the process for all my new apps. It tends to hang on the last one for 20-30 seconds, before moving onto the rest of the sync process.
After the "sync complete" message comes up, I check the library (and the file system) and none of the apps it said it was copying have been transferred. A re-sync or re-transfer of purchases shows it copying the same apps over again -- with the same result; nothing appearing in the library.
I have, therefore, taken to duplicating my downloads in iTunes; if an app is downloaded in iTunes it seems happy syncing that back to the phone (and recognising that the app on the phone is the same as the one in the library).
However, I'm now in a situation where a bunch of apps will not let me download them without re-purchasing. (i.e. I click on them in iTunes and get the "You WILL be charged for this purchase" message rather than the "you've already bought this, download it free")
Apps previously downloaded and in the library transfer back to the phone without problem. It's just that apps downloaded on the phone will not transfer.
I have de-authorised and re-authorised the computer. I have upgraded to the latest versions of the iOS and iTunes (at time of writing that's 4.3.1 and 10.2.1.1). I have cleared sync history. I've deleted and recreated backups. I've turned auto syncing off and on.
I have not tried the following:
    1)uninstalling iTunes and re-installing it
2)syncing the phone with iTunes on a different computer
3)restoring factory settings on the iPhone (surely this would lose me all the applications, including the ones I'm being told I have to re-pay for)
4)deleting my iTunes library (I do have a backup, but, would it let me delete all the apps and then re-import them from my backup? That said, the backup is missing the apps that won't transfer)
With most of these, I've not tried it because "I fear I will lose everything"
As far as I can tell, these problems started occurring when I moved my iTunes library to a removable drive (I have a 180Gb hard drive on my laptop, and coming up to 60Gb of it was being used by iTunes - so I transferred this to a 500Gb removable drive that I make sure I plug in (and has the correct drive letter) prior to starting iTunes or any syncing process)
I've tried resetting the library location to the default -- it made no difference.
While I'm "okay with" buying apps on the computer and then transferring them, it isn't ideal -- or the easiest solution; plus it doesn't sort out the apps that are currently refusing to transfer and are prompting for a re-purchase.
My system is Windows Vista 32bit, 4Gb memory; 500Gb removable drive, 180Gb local hard-drive.
Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

As no-one has anything to add (yet); I'll add that this morning I've updated the iOS version to 4.3.2 (which appeared as available over the weekend); currently I'm still unable to transfer purchases (this includes things that I'd previously purchased, transfered to the phone and updated). Additionally, the first few attempts to sync following the update gave me the "not enought space to sync apps" message -- this is dispite itunes reporting around 0.30GB to 0.70GB prior to the sync attempt, and around 1.5 GB following the failed "not enough space" sync. (Right now I'm running a sync again and it looks like iTunes is reporting a correct/realistic amount of space)
I've not heard anything back from anyone at apple (I flagged the stalling apps in the iTunes app store, which seemed to be the recommended thing to do for apps that were "previously purchased but not available freely to download"); and by the lack of responses here I'm getting the feeling I'm the only one with this problem.
If something simple like deauthorizing iTunes, uninstalling iTunes, rebooting, re-installing and reauthorizing iTunes would fix it (and wouldn't lose any of my music, apps or videos) then I'd be happy to do that. Again, if I could do a factory settings restore on the phone and have it fixed (and I could get apps and in-app content back without a re-purchase) - then I'd be happy to do that too.
If the solution would be to use a new install of iTunes on a different computer (authorized as myself, auto-syncing of devices turned off); and then use a "transfer purchases" to copy all the apps (including the problem ones) to the new library -- then using removable media, transfer them back into my library proper -- well -- I'd do that too (I'm sure I can borrow a work PC for a couple of hours to install/transfer)
My big problem is that I've had no feedback as to whether anything like this would help; whether my purchases would be okay -- and so on. I also don't know why this problem is occuring; is it tied to the problem apps -- if I simply delete them, will the iPhone suddenly start syncing like it used to; or is there someother problem there that I'm not seeing? (As it's now the case that NO apps purchased on the iPhone will transfer, will it simply be the case that all I'll have done is removed a bunch of apps that I can't get back and have the problem still exist?)
    Once again, any ideas?

  • Can I sync from iphone to iTunes

My old computer died. I got a new one and reinstalled itunes. Now when trying to sync my phone with iTunes it only allows to sync from itunes to phone, but i cant do it the other way around. in other words the picture albums and applications i have bought are on iphone but i can get them into itunes.

The pictures will not transfer back.
The apps, however, will. Just select File > Transfer Purchases and anything bought via the App or iTunes store will sync back to the comp.

  • Transfer photos after already having synced from a different iTunes

    Here is the current situation:
I had a bunch of photos on a PC
I synced these photos to my iPad through iTunes on the PC
The PC died and there's no way to get the photos back
I have a Mac that I want to sync the photos from the iPad (now the only copy of the photos) down to.
How do I do this?  So far it seems as though any images synced from the original PC don't exist from the Mac's perspective (though the photos are still clearly on the iPad).
    What do I do?

    No backup of the computer?
You will need a 3rd party app to get the photos off the iPad.
Search for 'transfer photos from iPad to computer'.
Note that photos sync'd to the iPad are not the original resolution as they were on the computer.
iTunes "optimizes" them to 2304 x 1536 (~3MP). so you do not get the same photo quality as you had with the original photos on your computer.

  • 'Last Played' date does not sync from ipod to itunes

Hi, I've looked through the forums and can't find an answer to this, but apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere.
I'm using itunes 7 with Windows XP and a 20gb 3rd gen ipod. I have a number of smart playlists which are based on the date songs were last played, but recently this hasn't been updated from ipod to itunes. It used to - I'm not sure if the problem has been since I updated to itunes 7 or not, but it might be. Weirdly, the play count - IS updated, so itunes knows that I played the song on my ipod, it just doesn't know when!!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    David

  • Selected videos won't sync from Aperture through iTunes to my iPhone 5s

I don't know if this is an iPhone issue, an Aperture issue, or an iTunes issue . . .
I'm using Aperture, on my iMac, and have created albums that contain videos (as well as photos). Some videos are iPhone-created that I imported from my iPhone into Aperture (since iCloud/Photostream does not automatically cloud videos); some videos were created by me in a separate program (iMovie or FCPX) and then down-mixed to put into my Aperture album. I'm trying to sync my Aperture album (not Event, but Album) to my iPhone 5s so that I have an album on my iPhone directly mimicking my Aperture album.
The pictures come over perfectly, sorted by date as they are in Aperture. However, the videos have issues. Most importantly, only the ones originally created by my iPhone come back across to my phone, and in the correct album. Anything that I've created (Final Cut Pro X or iMovie) are not coming through (down-mixed as .mov files).
I do have the "include videos" box checked in iTunes; that only serves to bring over the iPhone-created movies, some of which it dropped into the synced album, some of which it decided to put into my videos album.
Anyone out there have any ideas what I could be doing differently? I'd like all my videos in my Aperture album to come across to my iPhone in the same album.
Second smaller issue is that movies I made on my iPhone 5s in slo-mo, though they imported to Aperture in slo-mo, are syncing back to my iPhone 5s in real time, not slo-mo.
    Aperture: 3.5.1
    iPhone: 5s, 8.0.2
    iMac: 10.9.5
    iTunes:  11.4(18)

As a follow-up, I down mixed the video in FCPX using "Apple Devices" 720p. That did not help.

  • I was on a trip and downloaded some tunes on my notebook.  i then wanted to sync them to my Imac at home, but can nnot find a cable hook up ..nor can i seem to do it through the wireless network...how can I sync from the notebook itunes with the imac at h

I was on a trip and I downloaded some tunes on my notebook.
At home now, and I am trying to sync the notebook itunes new songs to my Imac, so I do not have to open both computers in the 'shared library' section every time I want to hear a song that I bought last week on the notebook.  I simply want to dump my new tunes on my imac and play them from there.  Is there a cable I am missing, how do I connect both computers?
I can not imagine a world where I can buy the music on the notebook, but I can not transfer it on my Imac???!!!
    Suggestions please!
    Thanks everyone,
    Adie Elliott

There are several ways. iCloud is partially live, at least in the US, so if you are in the US and have the latest version of iTunes on your home computer, start up iTunes, click on the Store button in the list on the left side of the screen, and on the right side of the iTunes store screen look for Purchased (there will be an orange New! tag next to it). You can (re)download any songs you've bought from your account on any authorized device you own. IOW, buy with your iPad, download later with your iMac if you don't feel like syncing with your iPad.
If you have a wireless network at home you can using filesharing to connect the two computers and copy the songs from the notebook to the desktop. My wife has a corporate DropBox account and she just copies her new songs into the DropBox and grabs them when she's at home. I have a history of forgetting that I've downloaded songs on my notebook or at work so I always immediately copy them to my flash drive. So there you go - lots of ways to do what you want.

  • Problem syncing from iPod Touch - iTunes with apps

I recently reformatted me computer in order to move Windows to a different harddrive. I plugged in my iPod Touch. I authorized my computer and transferred all my apps from my iPod Touch to my iTunes. All apps appear; works great.
I want to add a new application that is in my iTunes library. If I check "Sync Apps" I get a popup saying "Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPod ... will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library". I do not want to lose app of my application data.
Is there a solution to this? I work for a company that creates iPhone applications (I do not make them myself), and I am trying to install one for testing purposes...so I cannot just download the app from iTunes.
    Thanks.

The ipod touch will sync itunes content from one and only one computer/library.
When you reformatted, it became a new library.
Your itunes content will be erased and replaced with content from the new library.
I don't believe that the data will be lost ( if the apps are in itunes), but I am not sure.

  • Why doesn't number of plays get synced from iPod to iTunes?

ipod shuffle, the little square one, 4th or maybe 5th generation.
    Mac OS X 10.7.5
    itunes 11.2.2
I listen to something on my ipod. I plug the ipod into my computer. In itunes, on the ipod, I can see the track I listed to has number of plays 1. That track in the library on the computer fails to get any plays next to it. Why? Why does this stuff never really work properly? I'm sure it used to work, but I could be wrong. It's not working now. Plays on/from the ipod don't get registered on the computer. This means I don't know which tracks I've listed to and which I haven't. Great.

    John,
Automatic sync of an iPod  is supposed to sync the play counts back from the device to your iTunes library.  Unfortunately the capability is unreliable and always has been.
Here is a thread on the topic from 2009.
I have found two things that help:  try to do the sync shortly after you have rebooted your machine, and every once in a while do a Restore on the iPod.  These help, but do not give you complete accuracy, and needless to add, are both a lot of trouble.
Maybe others here have additional ideas.

  • Sync from ipod to itunes

Due to computer issues we had to reload itunes so now songs are on ipod but I can't figure out how to get them to itunes. I want to "reverse sync". Thanks for any help.

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible - Windows version only)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
One more thing, If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed above your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Whichever of retrieval method you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync
