Is it possible to sync the contacts and calendar in Gmail with iPhone?

I believe there is an option under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences to sync contact information with a Gmail online address book, and the same for a Yahoo online address book, but not for calendar events.

  • How do I sync Gmail contacts on my iPhone?

I just switched to iPhone from an Android phone. How do I sync my Gmail contacts? My iPhone is pulling my Gmail, but I can't figure out how to sync Gmail contacts into my phone contacts.

    Hello carrie867,
The following article contains step-by-step instructions for settings up Google Contact Sync on your iOS device:
    iOS: Syncing with Google Contacts
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4872
Follow these steps to set up contact syncing with Google Contacts:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add CardDav Account.
Enter the following information in the fields:
    Server: google.com
User Name: Enter your full Google email address
    Password: Your Google account password
Select Next at the top of the screen to complete the setup.
After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically.
    Additional Information
Note: Make sure that SSL is enabled (under Advanced settings), and that the port is 443.
    Best regards,
    Allen

You should have signed in with that address in the first place, but there is a workaround: go to System preferences>Mail, Contacts@ Calendars and add your @me.com address as an account there.

  • How do you sync iCloud (contact, calendar, task) to outlook 2011 for Mac? and how do you make seemless sync between iCloud to Outlook 2011 to Blackberry device or an iPad?

I have three device: Macbook Pro (OSX 10.7.5) for work; an iPad and a Blackberry for mobile. I used mail, iCal, and Address Book combine with mobileme (iCloud) to exchange data such as contact, calendar and task from my Mackbook Pro to my iPad but never to Blackberry. The problem is my boss was asking me to change to Outlook 2011 for Mac because some of the email that I sent from Mail did not appear in my client's Blackberry. So how do you sync iCloud (contact, calendar, task) to Outlook 2011 for Mac? and how do you make seemless sync between iCloud to Outlook 2011 to Blackberry device or an iPad?
    Best regards,

I have another kind of problem with Firefox
    == Description
    ==
In migrating from an XP PC to a new Win 7 PC, I downloaded Firefox to the new PC and it worked fine - got my Gmail contacts, calendar, etc. Later I used Micros Soft's Windows Easy Transfer to move data, profiles, etc to the new PC. Then could log onto Gmail but it would not show Contacts or Calendar. I then uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it - nohelp, then I did a system to Restore to before I did the Windows Easy Transfer - no help, then I manually moved my Firefox Profile from the XP machine - no help. BTW at least one other website does not display correctly: http://www.hollandamerica.com/main/Main.action. NOTE - through all this Internet Explorer has shown these sites correctly.

  • MiQ Live, free OTA sync of contacts, calendar, etc

There is a new app from Best Buy called MiQ Live
    www.miqlive.com/
It will OTA sync your contacts, calendar, memos, tasks, AND media (pictures, vids) to their online site. It's ok if you trust them, and don't care that its Best Buy.
The cool thing is -- it works. I just went on the PC, signed in to my account, and there were all my BlackBerry contacts, etc, AND I can even SMS from the Desktop App.
I know if you are on a corporate BES this is not a big deal, but would be great for those on a personal BIS account who forget to do a wired sync, and your spouse/family and those who are not, for backups of data.

  • ITunes 11.1.4 (62) can't find the info button to set up sync for contacts, calendars, etc.

I'm running iTunes 11.1.4 (62) and can't find the info button to set up sync for contacts, calendars, etc.

That option has been removed with Mavericks. Syncing for calendars and contacts etc can only be done through iCloud:

having trouble syncing/downloading contacts & calendar & tasks from outlook 2010 to iphone4s help please.

I had the identical problem.  I still don't know how to sync the tasks, but here's how I did the contacts and calendar:
    1.  Connect the 4s to the computer.
    2.  Open iTunes.
    3.  Click the iPhone box in the upper right corner.
    4.  Click on the info tab.
    5.  Hit the checkbox Sync Contacts with... and choose Outlook from the dropdown box.
    6.  Ditto for Calendars.
    7.  Hit Apply.
My problem was that originally, I wasn't getting the checkboxes.  I turned off the iCloud settings on the 4s.  That did the trick.

  • Sync email, contacts & calendar on Live, iphone, PC

I want to sync email, contacts, and calendar on my iPhone and PC just like
it did with my blackberry, but I want to use a live mail account (or gmail or
other provider if Live won't work). The iPhone web pages don't list Live email account information any more like they used to. So I'm not sure what is going on with Live email and the iPhone.
I have an iPhone 2G (just today updated to OS 3.1) with the data plan. I have a Live mail account that I'll be using if possible. I currently have the updated contact list and calendar file that I want to use in Outlook 2003 on my XP desktop computer. I want to PUSH these items onto the iPhone because they have been painfully updated (from multiple accounts from multiple pc and phone upgrades). I want to continue using Outlook on the PC if possible, but want to migrate to using my notebook (that I plan to upgrade from Vista to Win7). I want the messages to dowload to the hard drive on the notebook for archival.
I know I should upgrade the Vista machine to Win7 before I start trying to
sync these 3 devices/areas (2 devices and 1 cloud??? ;-)). Once that is accomplished, I want to sync the notebook (outlook email and calendar and contacts) with the iphone (email, contacts, calendar) and Live (email, contacts, calendar). Will opened email show as "read" on the other devices at next logon? Will calendar updates work properly from any location and propagate to the other devices? Same for Contacts: can I change one anywhere and have it properly update at the other two locations? What about deleting email messages (or contacts, or calendar items), can it be done from any of the 3 and propagate to the the other 2?
    Can it be done? How?

Google does not support Push access for recieved messages when accessing the account as an IMAP account.
Google does support Push access for recieved messages when accessing the account as an Exchange account, but Exchange/ActiveSync is a new protocol for Google.
I have no idea about service interruptions with a Gmail account, but since Exchange/ActiveSync is a new protocol for Google and still considered a Beta I believe, there are bound to be issues from time to time while Google gets the bugs worked out.
The iPhone supports Push access for recieved messages with email account providers that provide/support Push access. The iPhone also supports Fetch access with an option for automatically checking for new messages every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes, or every hour. With an account that supports Push access, you can enable or disable Push access, automatically check the account for new messages, or manually check for new messages.
Nothing personal, but what is the big deal about Push access for recieved messages? What sort of important email do you regularly recieve that must be pushed to the iPhone the instant the message is recieved at the incoming mail server - along with every other message the instant they are recieved at the incoming mail server? To each his/her own, but that would drive me nuts. Nothing I recieve via email is so important that it can't wait for the account to be automatically checked for new messages every 30 minutes (my setting), and I can always manually check the account for new messages in between the automatic check.
Just trying to help you save what amounts to $8.33/mo with a MobileMe account. I haven't read about on-going regular problems with accessing a Gmail account as an IMAP account. This provides for keeping all server stored mailboxes synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account, and you can sync contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process at no additional expense. You won't have Push access for recieved messages when accessing a Gmail account as an IMAP account, but I think you will get by A-OK having the account automatically checked for new messages along with being able to do a manual check in between the automatic check if you are expecting an email of significant importance.
And in the interim, Google may get the bugs ironed out with accessing the account as an Exchange account which you can switch to when they do - still at no charge.

  • Gmail contacts/calendar/notes not updating to phone

Hi, my iphone 4 was replaced yesterday. I'm now trying to set up my contacts from Gmail. I know how to do this but it just hangs. Mail has uploaded fine but not the contacts, calendar or notes. I've tried to do this individually, hence how I know email is working, but the contacts/calendars/notes don't seem to want to play nice. Please help.

If you want the calendar entries that you create on the phone to sync with the gmail, you need to create the entry in the gmail calendar on the phone.  If you create it in the phone calendar, it is only on the phone.
Usually at the very top of the new event entry you have a choice of which calendar to create this event in.  Either Phone, gmail or any other option you have synced to your phone.  To get it to sync to the gmail calendar you need to select the gmail calender.

  • Gmail contacts / calendar to the cloud???

OK....Got all my GMAIL contacts and calendar on the iphone.  Now how do I get them to the cloud?

Thanks but that is not what I'm looking for. All I need is contacts/calendar sync so I don't see any point in paying for a software with a lot of features I wont use.
Contacts/Calendar is a iTunes/iPod feature so it should work. Apple has to do something.

  • 9320 - how to sync gmail contacts only, not email

    Hi there,
I'm looking for a way to sync my Gmail contacts with my BB, but without having to sync my emails from that account as well.
The reason is that I use my BB for professional email only and want to keep my personal email out of it. The device is far from user friendly when you get several emails per day on both accounts. Besides, I already sync my personal email with another device, so I don't want to do the same work twice.
I'm also really happy with the way Google syncs my contacts, keeps them backed up, easily sorted, etc. As for my BB, my contacts are on the device and nowhere else, meaning they are easy to lose (as happened to me a couple of months ago when my device died and technical support couldn't bring it back to life and had to replace it). And I don't mind to have the contacts all mixed up, they're easy to find in both devices so it's fine.
Anyway, I hope anyone can help me.
    Best regards!

No need to export your address book to your computer as suggested above ...
If you have iOS 7, all you need to do is set up your Gmail account (Settings/ Mail, Contacts, Calendars) and your Google contacts will sync directly to your iPhone's Contacts app.  Simple, no fuss, and changes you make on either end are updated periodically through the day.
Note that you don't have to use the Mail app for your mail if you prefer to use the Gmail app, you can choose to just sync your Google contacts with the iOS setting above if you prefer.

  • Can't configure sync my contacts & calendar on iTunes (10.1.0.56)

The ability to configure Sync my contacts is not avaliable. When I select sync my contacts the configure button does not respond.
As for Sync my calendars - this one I even can't select, the option to select the check box is disabled.
    I have iPhone 4 OS 4.2.1
I am using Outlook 2007 on windows XP.
I have re-installed iTunes, I have restored my iPhone, I have configured the iTunes Add in in my outlook, outlook is my default mail account, I basicly did everything that is possible.
Any idea on how to fix that?
Worth mention that previously I had iPhone 3G sync on this laptop, but I have managed to remove all the old backups.
I can sync photos and application but that's all.
    Thanks.

    I have resolved this.
For anyone having the issue, here's what appears to be happening based on running iTunes setup with verbose logging turned on and watching the time when the network interface dies.
    Issue:
During the installation, iTunes installs some network components related to mobile device support over ethernet(Apple Mobile Device Ethernet Service - netaapl.inf). At the same time, according the logs, the install process removed OEM18.inf. This almost exactly coincided with the time that I saw the network connection die (preceded it by a few seconds).
Basically, iTunes appears to be removing a required network component.
    Resolution:
After installing iTunes and the network connection breaking, remove the network device from Device Manager and allow Windows to reinstall it automatically.
The following instructions are for Windows 7, but they are close enough to follow for other versions of Windows.
    1. Click the Start button (Jewel in Vista and Win7).
    2. Right-click Computer and click Manage in the menu that appears (type your password or click Yes if prompted).
    3. On the left side of hte Computer Management window, click Device Manager.
    4. Click the arrow (or plus sign) next to Network Adapters to expand that section.
    5. Right-click your network adapter and click Uninstall in the menu that appears.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Reboot.
Windows should automatically detect and reinstall your network device on boot.

  • Best way to sync google contacts/calendar

Just bought iPad2, and am wondering the best way to sync my contacts and calendars from google to my MacBook and iPad (my mac and phone sync to google and need to add ipad). My MacBook doesn't have Lion so I'm guessing that I wouldn't be able to keep it updated via iCloud at this point? Is iTunes the best way to go until I update my Mac?
    Thanks!

    The methods do different things
Push notifications just tell you an Item has been updated and will give you the ItemId of that item. You then need to get that item and work out the changes
SyncFolderItems and Pull Notifications are very simular in that they provide a list of updates the underlying Sync mech is a little different Watermarks vs SyncState. In comparison to Push notifications these will consume more bandwidth and require more
    requests to the server.
    >Using Filter and FindItems
Would just require more requests to the server to do the same thing. However no matter the method you use it will still require you bind to the Item that is modified using GetItem to work out what's changed etc and all these method have challenges around
getting deleted items. The underlying code for Pull notifications and SyncFolderItems is petty simple my suggestion would be you write a test application yourself to see.
Saying which is better really depends on what your trying to achieve. Eg if need to make the most minimalistic number of requests to the server then push notifications would be best to track changes see
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn458791(v=exchg.150).aspx which lists the differences in bandwidth.
Other things you need to consider are throttling which maybe not a problem OnPremise but will be if you move into the cloud or Office365.
