Sync Goes Out on Several Clips AFter DVD Pro Burn

This problem existed on several clips that were relatively close together in timeline. As this is a 52' video with many cuts and multi-tracks, I tried using the audio mixdown render in FCP and then burned again. There was an improvement, but I still have one clip out of sync.
Any ideas on what else to do?
I'm exporting to QT Conversion and encoding as high as I can push the DVD Pro encoder - to around 7.2.
FCP 5
DVD PRO 4

I'm correcting what I reported earlier. The sync goes out on the output from FCP. This is NOT a DVD STUDIO PRO problem! I'm using the QUICKTIME CONVERSION option on the output.
I'll repost in the FCP forum.

Audio goes out on my Air after I unplug my headphones.  Reset did not fix it.

    Hi johnfan1939,
Although this article specifically mentions the iPhone, many of the steps apply for the iPad as well.
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.

    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.

  • SCEP going out to the internet after being migrated to SCCM 2012 and saturating facility MPLS.

I was unaware of the fact that SCEP was gonig out to the internet to pull down 120 megs worth of data each time a client is migrated. I'm trying to determine the easiest or best way to avoid this. I've done some research and it looks like bundeling the SCEP
policy with the migration package might work. I also saw some tool that you can use to add a SCEP update rollup to the package. Ultimately if i could just get the exact URL the clients are going out to our networking team could apply QoS to this URL. Unfortunately
though it appears in the MPCMDRUN.log to go to go.microsoft.com/fwlink, but on the networking side in pathview i seen the client ends up going to Akamai.
I'm assuming MS offloads their web traffic to Akamai and that first link is redirected, if that is even the right link. Does anyone know a way i can prevent this while still getting the client up to date. This entire time I thought the clients would pull
what they needed from the SCCM 2012 env. I'm using ADR to push the definitions and that seems to be working fine except for 2 situations. One a client is migrated, or 2 the client comes online after being offline for more than 7 days and goes out.
Either way if someone could provide me with the URL for throttling or a better method for deploying I would be very grateful. So far we've migrated about 8 thousand clients and have about another 10 thousand to go. The majority of the clients have local
pull DPs, and if further details of my infrastructure would be helpful please just let me know.
    Thanks,
    -KR

    Jorgen,
I appreciate you pointing out the setting and that has helped partially and I was able to track down the URL that is being used by the clients for QoS by networking. Now management has pushed back with why are the clients going to the internet at all. I
can understand why. If were deploying all the patches why can't the clients pull their SCEP engine from the SUP/WSUS server. I see it finding it in the MPCMDRUN.Log file but it still goes out to Microsoft to pull the 120 meg file. Do i not have any other options
for pushing the engine to the clients, if ADR is working for current clients what am i missing. I'm sure its something obvious, but my migration is on hold up until I can keep the clients from going to the internet for their new engine and deltas.
Any help you could provide i would very much appreciate. Thanks again Jorgen.

  • DVD PRO burning a dvd without a menu after compressing from fcp7

I editing my project using FCP7 then compressed it using best quality DVD 90 min in Compressor and now I am try to burn dvd's using DVD PRO. I am trying to make a dvd with no menu-I just want to be able to hit play and have the dvd play without any graphics on a menu in the beginning. I am trying to import using DVD PRO does not work. I have also tried to export using Compressor-does not work. I keep getting a warning box popping up that says there is trouble in the files or not a compatible file from compressor. I do not understand how that could be since I compressed it using compressor-do not get it. Thanks.

DVDs use an MPEG-2 codec, so regardless of which codec FCP uses to compress the Quicktime file, it will end up as MPEG-2 when you burn to DVD. So as long as the video preview plays in iDVD, you should be fine just using the "Best Quality" setting.
If you are really concerned about the quality, you can also try exporting the video using Compressor and authoring the DVD in DVD Studio Pro. It's a bit more complicated, but the results are worth learning the software.
    Hope this helps.

  • FCP and DVD Pro burning glitch

Last week I created two files of a 2 1/2 meeting - making 2 files of 1 1/4 hours each. I successfully burned both on to two different DVD's and they both played on computers and DVD players. I did note a typographical error in the titles and repaired that and then went to burn the new file.
The new DVD will only play on the computer and not a DVD player.
I have now run disk utility to see if that will help.
    Here's the process I follow:
export to quicktime movie to qt folder. The settings for this are:
"current setting" (Instead of default) When I scroll through the settings there are no settings chosen.
The icon for the exported quicktime movie is not the icon I usually get when doing this process.
When importing the movie to DVD Pro the movie does not appear in the qt folder and it will not import. I can drag and drop onto the DVD Pro window and get the above results.
The file will burn in DVD Pro but will not play on a DVD player.
The files are stored on an external 1.4 TB hard drive.
    Thanks for any solutions
    Tom

Delete all render files associated with the sequence in question using the Render Manager found in the tools menu. OR select all clips in the timeline window, and right click to UN enalbe them then re enable them. After the following, then just do a couple of undo's to reconnect the sequence to the renders.
Then with the sequence selected in the Browser, choose file/export/using compressor. Select your preset there for the MPEG you need to make.
This will result in the best DVD you can make with Apple's software, and also keeps any render files out of the equation... they can be corrupt at times, and cause problems later.

  • Sound & Picture Sync going out

I recently upgraded to iDVD '08 and having a problem with the synchronization on my end movie. I export my wedding movies from FCE with all the chapter markers to iDVD. Everything appears fine in the preview, but once the project is burnt, towards the end of the movie, the synchronization is out. I have had to format my pc and reinstall iLife '06.
Has anybody had a similar problem, or is there something I am doing wrong?
    Desperately need some help.

Q: Has anybody had a similar problem, or is there something I am doing wrong?
A: Yes. Especially when attempting to use 12 bit audio as opposed to the recommended 16 bit. Check all camera settings. The sync issue gets progressively worse as the length of the video increases ..... use only 16 bit audio with i-apps.

  • Picture is going out for several seconds. Audio continues...

We keep losing picture on pretty much all channels.  It disappears for several seconds (black screen) but the audio continues.  The time it is gone is increasing as well as the frequency.  It's not the TV, because it is recorded on the DVR like this, if you rewind etc.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

I have also experienced this I know its not the tv because it did it on my old set and now my new one.

  • Poor image quality after DVD is burned.

    Hi,
Project is fine in FCP and in iDVD before burn but when the burned dvd is played some of the images have lines or large pixels. The large pixels are very obvious in bright or white shots. Haven't had any other problems with the Mac for 4 years.
    Any suggestions or solutions?
    Thanks

    Hi
    a. Can it be so that Your movie is in PAL (25fps) and iDVD in NTSC (29.97fps)
No good way to do it - I use JES_Deinterlacer to convert
    b. I do from FinalCut Pro 6
    • Export out as a QuickTime .mov file
    • Not selfcontained (not important but saves time and space)
    • NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION - IMPORTANT !
This file I import into iDVD
Else read my list on DVD-Quality
    1. iDVD 08 & 09 has three levels of qualities.
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
    2.Video from
    • FCE/P - Export out as full quality QuickTime.mov (not selfcontaining, no conversion)
    • iMovie x-6 - Don't use ”Share/Export to iDVD” = destructive even to movie project and especially so
when the movie includes photos. Instead just drop or import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
    • iMovie’08 not meant to go to iDVD. Go via Media Browser or rather use iMovie HD 6 from start.
    3. I use Roxio Toast™ to make an as slow burn as possibly eg x1 (in iDVD’08 or 09 this can also be set)
This can also be done with (Apple) Disk Util tool.
    4. There has to be about or more than 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk. iDVD can't
use an external one as scratch disk (if it is not start-up disc).
    5. I use Verbatim ( also recommended by many - Taiyo Yuden DVDs - I can’t get hold of it to test )
    6. I use DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW)
    7. Keep NTSC to NTSC - or - PAL to PAL when going from iMovie to iDVD
    8. Don’t burn more than three DVD at a time - but let the laser cool off for a while befor next batch.
    iDVD quality also depends on.
    • HOW much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disk. Go for approx 25Gb.
less than 5Gb and Your result will most probably not play.
    • What kind of movie project You drop into it. MPEG4 seems to be a bad choice.
other strange formats are .avi, .wmv, .flash etc. Convert to streamingDV first
Also audio formats matters. I use only .aiff or from miniDV tape Camera 16-bit
strange formats often problematic are .avi, .wmv, audio from iTunes, .mp3 etc
Convert to .aiff first and use this in movie project
    • What kind of standard - NTSC movie and NTSC DVD or PAL to PAL - no mix.
(If You need to change to do a NTSC DVD from PAL material let JESDeinterlacer3.2.2 do the conversion)
(Dropping a PAL movie into a NTSC iDVD project
(US) NTSC DVDs most often are playable in EU
(EU) PAL DVDs most often needs to be converted to play in US
UNLESS. They are plabacked by a Mac - then You need not to care
    • What kind of DVDs You are using. I use Verbatim DVD-R (this brand AND no +R or +/-RW)
    • How You encode and burn it. Two settings prior iDVD’08 or 09
Pro Quality (only in iDVD 08 & 09)
Best / High Quality (not always - most often not)
Best / High Performances (most often my choise before Pro Quality)
    1. go to iDVD pref. menu and select tab far right and set burn speed to x1 (less errors = plays better) - only in iDVD 08 & 09
(x4 by some and may be even better)
    2. Project info. Select Professional Encoding - only in iDVD 08 & 09.
    Region codes.
iDVD - only burn Region = 0 - meaning - DVDs are playable everywhere
DVD Studio pro can set Region codes.
    1 = US
    2 = EU

What it turned out to be was the "quality" settings in iDVD. The total clip time was NOT over 2 hours or 4.7GB, yet iDVD created massive visual artifacts on the "professional quality" setting.
I switched the settings to "high quality" which solved the problem. According iDVD help, "high quality" determines the best bit rate for the clips you have.
I have NEVER seen iDVD do this before, especially when I was under the 2 hour and 4.7GB limits.
For anyone else, there seem to be 2 places in iDVD to set quality settings, the first is under "preferences" and the second under "project info." They do NOT seem to be linked (i.e. if you change one, the other is NOT changed). take care, Mario

  • Only hear 8 mins of audio after dvd being burned. help please

i keep trying to burn an avi file to idvd, but once its burned only the first 8 minutes of audio can be heard after that video looks fine but it becomes a silent film, i called apple and they said to go to advanced and click on delete encoded assets and that should fix the problem, but it didint. Has anyone had this problem and if so did you find a way to fix it?
    id appreciate any help!
    Thanks in advance

There's a known issue with 12 bit audio and iDVD. But its issue is syncing when encoded. It's unlikely that's the issue but it might. That's out of my area. See these topics: Re: Audio not in sync, Re: Audio sync problem when burning to DVD and So many audio problems.
They might have a suggestion you can try. Have you tried the disk image route yet?

  • Superdrive bad, been replaced twice. Goes out really fast. 2006 macbook pro

I have a 2006 macbook pro 2.16 Ghz, 2GB of RAM, model # A1150. The computer is a hoss except the superdrive. It has been replaced twice and now my current drive is not working. Is anyone else having this issue? It seems to me the superdrive for this model Macbook pro may be a lemon.

    Hi,
I have had the same issues... My 2006 Macbook Pro's original optical drive quit burning a year and 2 months ago. It would read discs, but it would not burn DVDs or CDs. I had the drive replaced for $361 CND and the problem seemed to be solved. The other day the replacement drive failed. I got a popup saying "The drive was unable to calibrate the laser power needed for this media."
I went into Apple to see if they could fix it and their response was to replace the replacement drive for another $361. The second drive was 2 months out of warranty and they had the balls to tell me I had to pay full dollar to fix the problem. This would be the second time I would have paid that amount for a drive replacement - ummmm no thank you.
I found a solution online that worked for me: Take a can of compressed air and squirt it into the optical drive's loading slot. I went right along the area you insert discs. After that, the drive seems to be burning again. My guess is that there was some dust accumulation on the write head of the superdrive.
Regardless, a $12 can of compressed air is much more reasonable than losing my work computer for several days while Apple puts in a new superdrive for $361. The solution was so simple I couldn't believe it. A drive cleaning CD did not do the trick with either drive. I wonder, instead of replacing the original drive, if all it needed was a burst of compressed air... I'll never know.
Hope this solution helps you too.

  • No Sound After DVD is Burned

I used a song from iTunes and when I look at the asset window the audio file says its protected. Is this why there is no sound when I burn the DVD? If yes how do I change the audio from mp4? Tried to convert it in iTunes but no luck.

iTunes will not convert protected files (bought from iTunes Store) to any other format. It is impossible to use those songs in DVD Studio Pro in that format.

  • Linked video audio clip goes out of sync when put in timeline - why?

Learning to use Final Cut Express. Clip plays in browser with audio in time with video but as soon as clip is dragged onto timeline the audio goes out of sync. Why? Please can anyone help because its driving me mad!

You don't give any details as to FCE's settings, camera format or your workflow so I can only hazard a guess.
One of the main reasons that audio goes out of sync is because the Easy Setup audio settings do not match the camera's audio settings.
The default setting is for 16bit (48KHz) but your camera may be shooting 12bit (32KHz audio).
If this is the case you need to recapture using the 32KHz Easy Setup.

  • HELP!  Audio goes out of sync after export!

OK, folks. I need your help. I have a looming deadline of THIS FRIDAY to hand this in.
I have a finished multicam edit of a show that runs 1 hr 20 min. It plays back perfectly in the timeline, all video and audio perfectly in sync. Looks and sounds exactly like what I need.
When I export the video as an H.264 file, the audio gets out of sync with the video by 13 frames! But that's not all... It doesn't happen to the entire audio track. There's about 50 minutes in the middle of the video where the audio goes out of sync. The audio at the beginning and ending of the video is lined up perfectly in sync. It's just the middle section that gets screwy.
    What do I do?!
This has never happened before, and I've worked a lot with multicam in Premiere Pro CC before this. Never been an issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere, and also deleting all media cache files, but still no dice.  I also tried copying the clips into a new sequence in the same project, copying the clips into a new sequence in a NEW project, nesting the sequence... nothing works.
    My setup:
    MacBook Pro Retina (Rev. A)
    Premiere Pro CC (latest version)
Panasonic GH3 footage in 1080p 24p AVCHD timeline
3 cameras & 1 audio WAV file in Multicam
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK, I figured out how to fix it:
In Premiere Pro CC, click on SEQUENCE > DELETE RENDER FILES.
    Try exporting the movie again.
It worked! I exported the same sequence, and it took a long while to re-render the audio files, but when it was finished exporting the audio and video were in perfect sync. I'm not sure what caused it, but this fixed it, so hopefully anyone else having this issue can save a lot of time by reading this.
    Cheers!

  • Can I sync my Camera B clips AFTER editing?

I shot a film made up of largely about a dozen interviews. We shot 2 cameras (different formats).
I want to edit for content first; so to use ONLY Cam A clips.  I think it will be easier, especially as I just moved from FCP to Premiere and am just learning the software.
Can I cut for content first, using only Camera A, and then at the end sync the Camera B clips to my finished timeline?
    Thanks.

So, a few weeks later and I want to update this. I ended up syncing via Premiere after all, and am currently editing in Premiere.  It's not going super smoothly, but hopefully my learning curve with speed up soon...
With regards to syncing, my workflow was to put all my interview clips from both cameras in one bin, and to create a multi-camera source sequence from the clips in the bin.  This did not work fantastically.  Some clips didn't get synced at all.  The system created several sequences (as does plural eyes).  Perhaps worst of all, each of the clips is assigned its own track. So, if I have three clips from Cam A and 20 from Cam B (which happened on a day that we had a card malfunction so the operator was being selective on what he rolled on), yu end up with 23 tracks on your timeline.  A bit of a pain to do clean up work.
But, after a first pass at the multi-camera source sequence, I copied all the synced bits onto one timeline in sequential order.  This way I could tell which clips had not been synced. I would then select those clips in my bin and do a "take 2" of syncing.  In this way, I'd manage to get all the clips synced. In some cases, if there was a single Cam B clip that still hadn't synced, I manually dropped it into my MASTER sequence on top of the clip that I knew it could sync to, selected those two clips and used the "synchronize" feature on the timeline. It was very time consuming, but I finally had all 14 interviews synced!
Also, people have said to "make sure Cam A is on track one." This is not something I was able to figure out how to do.  I don't know how to make premiere know which one is my Cam A.

  • Any solutions for native soundtrack going out of sync when adding titles et

With the 6.0.4 update to iMovie06HD a problem emerged which the Apple Store Geniuses have been unable to solve, even after spending days with my computer/camera. When I add titles and transitions the native soundtrack goes out of synch. Previous versions of iMovie06 (in place this time last year) worked fine. Reloading the software didn't solve it, and the problem also exists on other computers running 6.0.4. Unfortunately going to iMovie08 is no solution as it does not allow 'export to tape', thereby offering no option for creating an HD movie. I tried in 08 making a DVD but image quality even using 'large' is not good.
Has anyone experience this? And found a solution?
    ens2

If I output this sequence at 1920x 1080 no down scaling to 720 then it is in sync but the whole project is then too large to fit on a single layer Blu-ray  disc this is why I have down scaled 720.
The only two factors which affect file size are bitrate and duration, specs like resolution and frame rate have no bearing.
Try using 1080 with a lower bitrate.
