Emails appear on either my phone or my laptop but not both. How do I sync?

The devices themselves aren't where the emails are stored, it simply connects to a server which has the emails stored. If you are seeing emails on one and not the other, try to remove and re-add the accounts to verify the password is entered correctly. The only other thing I could think of is if you are deleting the email, it would also delete it from the server.

I would like to be able to upload and edit photographs from either my desktop (nice big screen) or laptop (portable).
I was under the impression that I could do this via CC's cloud storage, but it seems that LR's catalogs are stored in a different location file structure that the CC folder (which seems to be just a dropbox clone). A google search reveals a number of strategies for syncing between two PC's but they appear to be written in the pre-CC days. Those that appear to be more current seem to focus on syncing between a PC and your iPad (LR mobile).
Is there a way to store all my photos in the cloud, and have them sync'd between two Windows computers such that LR (or Photoshop) changes made on either machine are sync'd with the other machine? I.e., I have a single, consistent working environment regardless of which computer I'm sitting at?

iPhone email will always be up to date.
The iPad will update when it has internet connection. If it is a wifi only iPad, it will only update when connected to wifi, but will do so automatically.

You can't access an Exchange account via ActiveSync with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac.

It depends on what iMac you have. If it is an old PPC (G4 orG5) iMac then no further upgrades are possible. If it an Intel iMac:

I have three computers I use daily in different location and have thunderbird on each computer. I find it time consuming to have to repeatedly delete the same emails from each location. I am thinking that by leaving the emails on the server and not downloading them in each computer would solve this. Is my assumption here correct? If not? How would you set up Tbird to sync?

If you set up your email account(s) as IMAP instead of POP3, then each computer / smart phone can view the mail, but if any of them delete a message (or move it to another folder on the server), the same action will be seen on the other computers.

What is the difference between apps and applications?

I have an application that I've been running on my older Mac. Now that I have a new MacBook Pro, I have to reinstall new software that is compatible. When I go to the vendor website I see an application I can download or a link to the Mac App Store. Is an application different than an app? When should you download them from a vendor website and when should you go to the app store? Do apps end up in the Launchpad and an application in your Applications folder? I can't seem to find information on what is the distinction. Are they actually two different things? Any help would be appreciated.

No difference between apps and applications. If you download the app from the Apple AppsStore you have better security and a conveninet place to have all your downloads. Nothing wrong with downloading from a trusted developer though.
EDIT: Yes they will either wind up in your Download folder as a .dmg you will have to double-click on to install, or most app store apps will install to your Applications folder.

Yes, you can use the apps from both accounts on the same iPad. You will both need to authorize each others iTunes account for use in each others computer account. You may authorize up to five Macs/PCs to use stuff from your account and that computer can then transfer the stuff to up to 10 iOS devices.
Open iTunes in your account and have your wife sign into her iTunes account in the iTunes app. First authorize your computer account to use her iTunes stuff from the iTunes Store menu. Then have your wife download all of the iOS apps that you want to use into iTunes. Now you do the same in her computer account.
Remember that only you can update apps acquired with your iTunes account and vice versa. So you will need to either sign into iTunes on the computer or directly on each others iPad to update any apps that need it. It is a little confusing at first, but you get the hang of it quickly.

iSync has never synced email or anything between Macs.
To sync email you need to set your account up as IMAP (not POP3) on your iPad and Mac.
If you are using your MobileMe email address and have configured your MobileMe account on both Mac and iPad, then your email is automatically in sync.

Syncing Mail Notifications Between Mac and iPhone

I been having this problem with the mail notifications not syncing between the Mail.app on my MacBook Pro and iPhone. Let me explain:
When I get a new email, I hear the sound and see the red notification icon appear on both the MacBook and the iphone. When it comes to checking the new email, here are the two possible scenarios:
a) If I check the new email on my phone, the red notification icon disappears from BOTH the iphone and the MacBook.
b) If I check the new email on my MacBook, the red notification disappears from the MacBook but DOESN'T disappears from the iPhone (that is until I open the app). This happens with both cases, when the app is "running" in the background or when it is complety closed.
I don't know if I am crazy but I am pretty sure that both of the notifications used to disappear before, no matter where I checked the mail.
I tried deleting and creating the email again on my phone, and it didn't work.
Here some info that could help find a solution:
- I'm using icloud email (@me.com)

iPhone:
- iOS 6 (this problem started before the upgrade)
- Push is on.
- Fetch (that suppodselly would be used only if push is off) is set to Manually.
- On the "Advanced" sub-menu inside the Mail settings, Push is also selected.
Hopefully this can actually be fix and I can prove myself that I was not crazy!!

Anyone find a fix for this problem? I've been waiting for this since notification syncing was announced a couple years ago with iOS 6. I use iCloud for my email and find it very frustrating that when I read an email on my Mac or on iCoud.com that it doesn't automatically dismiss the notifications for those emails on my iOS devices until I open the mail app on each iOS device. Notification syncing works great with other apps. With iMessages, for example, when I read a message on my Mac running Yosemite, the notifications disappear on my iOS devices without opening the messages app (badge app icon, home screen notifications and notification center). Why can't they figure this out with email? I remember at my old job, I had an exchange account that properly synced mail notifications between devices, but it has never worked with my iCloud email. I wonder if I am just missing a particular setting or if Apple just blew it here. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I looked up many discussions, blog posts etc, but seem get conflicting answers. I really want to know whether I can sync non-purchase (from ibook store) pdf from my mac (maverick) to ipad ibook apps. I tried many times, but failed to do so. I never try books. Does pdf must be sync through iTunes or by email?
The icloud sync is really frustrating. Previously, it took me quite a lot efforts to sort out the sync between pages and numbers. Not because I didn't do the right settings, but problems just arrived after upgrade mavericks. And I had to uninstall and reinstall the apps several times to make them work. So I wonder it is the same problem with the ibook.

Yes, eBooks (either PDF or EPUB) not purchased from the iTunes Store can be synced to iOS devices but not via the cloud. You must do it via USB.
1. Make sure the eBook is in the iBooks library.
2. Connect the iOS device to your computer via USB.
3. Open iTunes and select the device, then select Books.
4. Make sure "sync books" is selected and choose either the "all books" or "selected books" radio buttons. If you select "selected books" you'll need to then also select the eBooks to sync.
5. Click the Sync button.

Syncing Google email account on Lumia 800

Encountered this problem when trying to create a google account. Whenever I try to login, I always get this message: "update your info for m.google.com and tap save".
I was very frustrated and disappointed that it was not working altought my other email accounts works fine (e.g. outlook, hotmail).
I tried every solution that I found in some forums but no avail.
The only solution that works for me and hopes that it will work for you to (to those encountering the same issue):
Under email+accounts -> add an account -> other account -> input your google email address and password, and Voila! All done!

My google account sync was showing error that update your setting for m.google.com and tap save.
I just deleted google account and went to email +account -> add other account -> added my gmail account details and it worked fine.

Using iTunes for a decade now, I still having the same problem that I don't know how to solve:
How can I sync my podcasts subscriptions and play states between Macs and iDevices?
I am having two MPBs and one iMac, as well as an iPhone and iPad (yes, making someone rich in California), all of them are linked to the same iTunes/Apple account, they are not in the same Wifi.
What I would like to have that all these iTunes (plural) have the same Podcasts with the same played/unplayed states...
Is there any way to do that now, possible with iCloud? I am completely confused now that they have introduced podcast.app for iDevices...

From what I can tell, the Podcast app should do for your iOS devices what you're describing--as long as they all use the same Apple ID. Here's an article with some helpful information about the app:

To keep your subscriptions in sync across all devices, the article says this:
"To subscribe to a podcast on your device, tap the Subscribe button from the podcast provider's page from the Podcast catalog. Enable subscription syncing to keep your subscription up-to-date across your iOS devices. On your iOS device tap Settings > Podcasts > Sync Subscriptions > ON.
To sync playback position, the article says this:
"Playback Sync automatically allows you to sync your playback position to all of your iOS devices with the Podcasts app installed, using your Apple ID. In order for Playback Sync to sync your playback position, you must be signed in to the iTunes Store using the same Apple ID on your iOS devices."
As for keeping playback position on your iOS devices in sync with iTunes on your Macs, you'll need iTunes 11 on all your Macs. So if you're still using iTunes 10 or earlier, you'll need to run a software update to get the latest version.
