Sync ical to icloud

How do I get my ical to sync both ways with icloud.

I have done this but my id says "@me.com" v.s. my apple id being "@gmail.com" does this matter? I use to have mobileme but this is just becoming a hassle... I want to manage one calendar not 3 (iphone 4s, MacBook pro, iCloud.com)
i7 15" 2.0 Ghz MacBook Pro (newest version) running Lion 10.7.02

    Greetings,
Yes you can but you would do it using Blackberry's software: http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
Here is their support forum: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-for-Mac/bd-p/blackberryformac
    Hope that helps.

  • Sync iCal with iCloud Calendar

None of my appointments in iCal show up in my iCloud Calendar. In fact my iCloud Calendar has no appointments in it. I am sure I screwed something up in the coversion and trying to remove all the duplicate entries. In any event, how do I go about syncing forcing the appointments in iCal to show up in iCloud Calendar.

Problem resolved, and I can now see the other replies, strange.
Anyway, make sure you have a back up copy of your address book and iCal. Use the Export feature to make a back up.
This is what I did to finally resolve the problem.
Go into System Preferences and open "Mail, Contacts & Calendars". Remove all accounts, use the - box.
Go into System Preferences and open "iCloud". Make sure that you have the screen that asks you to sign up for an account. DO not do this yet.
Open Mac Mail and Preferences and remove any accouts that are still showing up so your Mail is completely empty.
Reboot your Mac. Check all the above to see if any accounts have been automatically reinstalled or set up. If they have remove them again.
Reboot again and do the same thing. Once no accounts are showing open you iCal and import the file you exported earlier. This will restore all your appointments in iCal on your Mac.
Reboot your Mac. Make sure that all the iCloud and email accounts are not there. I had to do this 3 times, for what ever reason my old MobileMe account continue to be added back to "Mail, Contacts & Calendars". Once everything is clean and you have all your appointments in iCal, reboot again.
Open Preferences and open "iCloud". Add your primary iCloud account and just wait for everything to finish installing. You should see 2 sets of appointments in iCal. Click on the Calendars button in the upper left and uncheck the box under the heading that does not say iCloud. This does not remove any of the appointments it just hides the ones that are on your Mac and then shows the ones that are on the iCloud Calendar.
One last thing. In iCal open Preferences form the iCal dromdown menue. Under the "Default Calendar" option make sure that you have the default calendar related to the iCloud Calendar checked. If you do not when ever you create a new appointment on your Mac you will be creating it in iCal and two things will happen. First all your iCal appointments on your Mac will show up again and secondl, that appointment will not show up in iCloud Calendars so it will not migrate to your other devices.
Apple should give some thought to having the iCal and iCloud Calendars merged so there are not seperate sets of appointments. I know there must be some reason for doing it the way they did but if someone is going to be using iCloud what would be the purpose of having a seperate set of appointments on your Mac that you have to hide and then worry about entering a new appointment that may not migrate to iCloud if you happend to se that appointment up in the iCal list instead of the iCloud list.

  • Is it possible to sync iCal with iCloud on Lion machines but still subscribe on pre-Lion machines?

I absolutely love iCal, and have a very complicated system set up such that various individuals/computers can access my calendars.  I was thrilled about iCloud, as that mean that I would not have to worry about remembering events until I found myself in front of the "main" machine, but could update iCal from all Lion/iOS5 devices, which are my general working machines.
But, it appears that iCloud has removed my former webcal publishing, and now my pre-Lion machines cannot keep up to date with the calendars.  So, I've done a bunch of investigating, and think I have found a work-around, but I still have a concern about it, and am also wondering if there is a better solution.
So, what I want to do is this:
I have two Macs running Lion (laptop, desktop) and an iPhone running iOS5 that I would like to be able to update calendars from and have it show up on all.  iCloud neatly accomplishes this (whereas before, I had to wait to find myself in front of the desktop, or remember to sync the iPhone).
I also have a plethora of older Macs, owned by myself, people in my group, and my family, that currently subscribe to various webcal addresses to keep up with "Work" and "Home" calendars, on a read-only basis.  The Macs are running anywhere from OS 10.2 to 10.6.  Upgrading to Lion is *not* an option -- first of all, they're not all my machines, and second of all, some are truly old (10.2 is running on a G3 -- yes, a G3, still in working order and completely fit for its purpose, with no plans to update until the machine physically stops working, but 10.2 is the most recent OS it can run).
The work-around I found is this:
I set the iCloud calendars to share with "everyone" which provides me with a webcal address that I can send to people and tell them to subscribe to it in their iCals.
    My concern is:
I am concerned about the "everyone" sharing:  I previously used a prviate, password-protected third party webcal pubishing service.  The URLs the everyone-sharing produces look complicated enough that it is unlikely that anyone would "guess" it, but is possible to browse public iCalendars somewhere?  The information in the calendars isn't hugely sensitive, but some of it is private enough it would cause a stink if some people blundered across the "Work" calendar, and perhaps some embarrassment if others found the "Home" calendar (especially as work people will know I am using this method).  Does anyone know how easy it is to access these calendars if you have not been provided the URL by the publisher?
And finally, is there  a better solution?  Ideally, I'd have password-protected webcal sharing.  It looked to me that the "only with people you invite" choice requires people to both have an iCloud account, and then use an iCloud enabled OS in order to get it into their iCal, which won't work with the pre-lion machines.  But perhaps I am wrong about this?

Sharing (not publishing) can be done privately - which requires the recipients to have an iCloud account - or publicly. As you say, this means than anyone who knows the URL can subscribe: but there's no published list of calendars, people who don't know the URL would have to guess it so the chances of them finding it are fairly low.

  • Mac Book Pro won't sync iCal with iCloud

    Hi
I'm running a Mac Book Pro (10.7.1) an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4. Both of the latter devices have been updated to IOS 5.
I'm a long standing MobileMe customer and I've been switching to iCloud today.
Generally things have gone smoothly. iCal was transferred from MbMe to iCloud without a hitch. Both the iPad and the iPhone were easy enough to switch across. And having done some tests now whenever the iCloud calendar  is updated it appears on the portables and vica-versa.
However - iCal on the MBP isn't happy.
When I open it a pop-up appears saying "iCal can't log in to your "*****@me.com" account because your password may be incorrect". There's a button that then invites me to go to "MobileMe prefs" to address the issue. I do this. And several times I've signed out and signed back in using the correct user name and password.
The Account Status says " Your MobileMe account has been upgraded to iCloud". So, it seems that the password isn't an issue. However, iCal keeps telling me it is.
(Also, have just tried creating a new address on the MBP and another on the iPad - iCloud instantly reflected the latter but not the former. ie. it seems that the MBP isn't syncing to the cloud at all).
    Any help/suggestions gratefully received.
(also, for your ref. I run Little Snitch - but I'm pretty sure it's not blocking anything)
    Thanks
    Ewan

Little Snitch...  that is most likely the problem.
Nothing positive... LS has caused many a Mac user headaches.

  • I am unable to sync ical to icloud.

I have been for the past 3 hours to sync my ical on my imac to my icloud account. When I log into my icloud account online it shows the calandar as blank.  I have tried to turn on and off the calandar in system preferences (on my imac) mail and in the icloud system preferences and it does not sync up. I have a 2011 imac and lion OSX.
Is this common? I can see my calendar in google docs, on my imac in ical and on my ipad 2. But for some reason my icloud calandar is showing up blank.
I made sure that I have been logging in with the same user name on all accounts.
If anyone has any suggestions or help please let me know.
    Thank you!
    Shawn

For resetting the sync history on a Mac running Lion - 10.7.x if needed.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
If you see the Sync menu in the menu bar, skip to step 3:
If you do not see the Sync menu in your menu bar, skip to step 7.
Hold the Option key on your keyboard, then click the Sync menu in the menu bar:
if you see the Sync menu but you are unable to open it, skip to step 8.
    Choose Reset Sync Services.
    Click Reset Sync History.
Test for the original issue. If the issue persists, or if you are unable to open the Sync menu, follow these steps:
In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu.
    Open Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type or paste the following command on a single line:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
    Press Return.
Quit Terminal after the operation has completed (when Terminal returns to the command prompt with a $).

Use iCloud to sync the calendar between your MacBookPro and your iPad.
See Settings > iCloud on the iPad  and the OS X control panel.

  • TS3999 Can you sync your iCal to iCloud?

I've been trying to sync my iCal to my iCloud and it's not letting me do that. It keeps telling me that my iDisk isn't available and when I go sign in to it, it keeps telling me that my username and password are wrong. Help please!

You cannot sync iCal to iCloud with anything earlier than 10.7.2. If you have Snow Leopard you may be able to do it by means of this unsupported hack (no guarantees) but you will not be able to do it with any earlier system. You will not be able to sync Contacts (though again there is a convoluted hack which has been reported as working for Address Book - and as not working by others: I've not tried it). iCloud's other facilities will not work.
Also, your email will stop working at some point: you need to set Mail up manually following the instructions in the one of these links which is applicable to your system:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger

  • ICal and iCloud not syncing

Since migrating over to iCloud, my iCal entries aren't syncing with my iPhone. I'm getting a message saying - The calendar https://cal.me.com:8443/principals/users/1.122543010/ was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct.
How do I sort this out?
    many thanks
    Darryn

Your signature says you have 10.6.4 - this is not compatible with iCloud. However it is possible to set Mail up manually for iCloud email, and there is an unsupported hack which may enable to sync iCal with iCloud.

  • ISSUE: syncing iCal on iPhone & iPad

I have the iPhone 4 & the newest iPad. I need to sync iCal over iCloud on these devices. Sometimes an even I enter in one iCal appears in the other device, and sometimes it doesn't. It seems very random! This causes much anxiety/frustration, as I need to carry and check both devises to make sure I am not missing appointments.
Is there a way to ensure that syncing always works?
Perhaps more importantly, is there a way to manually PUSH iCloud syncing on both devices? If I could manually push syncing once each morning, it wouldn't matter to me if the devices update during the day.
NOTE (if relevant): I use them for hotspots, so do not have Wi-Fi at home. (Yet, at home, they randomly sometimes do sync, so this isn't the whole issue.)
    Thank you!!!

P.S. One more note: Syncing with iTunes is not a good option for me. I have an old MacBook that does not support ICloud. I have been advised by Apple to *never* sync my iCal with iTunes, becuase when I did that the fist time, I duplicated tons of calendars and hand to hand-delete dozens of events, yowza.

The following server error message comes up "The request (CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation) for account “iCloud” failed." Been to Apple Store - no luck instore, or with Super genius over the phone when with genius in store, taking data in real time via ethernet!
I had to do a full wipe of my system because of time machine back up issues 2 weeks ago, and the error has only occured at some point since then. I only did a drag and drop of my user account folders/files into an External HDD rather than a copy of my user account (advised by the staff in store at Apple to do this) and when reimported, the Mail folders are all present but each message is in a sub-sub-sub folder that is numerically named. I do not have a mirror image of the hard disk prior to the wipe, only a time machine back up from 2 weeks prior to it being done. I am uncertain if this reinstall has caused the issue.
I am not happy to upgrade the software in my iPhone until I have the calendars working. I have purchased Mountain Lion, but again am concerned about upgrading until the issues are sorted.
I have tried the other solutions on here with no luck. HELP please.
    Many Thanks.

    Progress Update.
I made a back of what existing phtos and Videos I had on my Iplhone.  I used Image capture to do this making an entire back up of photos and videoa that were still intact on the phone.
Image capture is god for this purpose, as it does exactly what you ask it to do without applying any rules or squishing the files back into iphote (which might also be corupted)
Image capture wil do the basic function of retriving the contents of the phone and save them as native files on your hard drive.
Once I did this I erased my iphone, and re intitialised it restoring an older back up from icloud.
As the retore was happneing - I did retreive the missing files that cuased the intial beviour as above, and I could play the videos that were missing in the above scenerio.  The wierd ting was however that even though the source files were now back on the device, the thumbnail previews were missing. Where I ahd balck thumb nails for server portions of the resotred content.
I then went to bed as the restore is a long process.  When I woke up the library had library had cleaned itself up.  Mysteriously the prcess had deleted the files missing the their thumbnails.
This is very perculiar and bad behavior.
I am now repeating the process, and will attempt to download the missing content as it is restored and prior to the phone trying to fix itself.
    Here are the lessons learned.
DO NOT rely on Photo Stream to keep back ups and synchornise videos from you IOS device. IT DOES NOT SUPPORT THIS CAPBILITY
DO NOT rely on iCloud Back Up alone - always fd an occassional iTunes back up or more reliably still always take a back up of photos and video files using Image Capture to be doubly sure that you a have backd up any content.
DO THIS NOW - dont wait to loose your phone ofr have your phone repaired by replacement at the apple Store.  (I did both :-(

FYI: It seems it was a network problem with my WinXP PC. After complete deletion and new installation of XP and iTunes my iPhone will be recognized correctly, Wifi synchronization works (mostly) fine.

I can't upgrade to 10.7 or 10.8 because the MacBook is 32 bit. Just looking for a workaround as this is not a primary device.

You should update to the latest version of Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 - you can download it here; however it's still not compatible with iCloud and though you can connect to access your email you cannot access any other of iCloud's facilities.
However some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. I've not tried it: use at your own discretion.
    To access the email:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Are you sure you can't upgrade to Lion? It requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which you may well have, though it also needs 2GB RAM so you might need to add additional RAM (might not be worth it for what you want). The published specs don't mention 32 or 64 bit. You can buy Lion by ringing the Apple Store at the number at bottom left of this page.

  • Can I add an event on iCal on my mac, and sync it to icloud?

I mean, it sure seems like it would be simple!  But unless i'm missing something, it just isn't possible.  I need to be able to work offline using iCal, put an event on it, and then sync it to iCloud so I can then have it accross all my devices, including sharing it with my wife.  Please tell me i'm missing something and it can be done!
