Sync iCal with Google Calender

Is it possible to do a two-way sync with Google Calender and iCal without downloading any software to do it. It is possible to sync Google Calender with Microsoft Outlook already and it seems like it would be simple to sync with iCal if you know the right information to input into iCal about the Google Calender server. You can subscribe to a Google Calendar in iCal - but AFAIK you can't edit it, unless you download additional software.
If you want to edit your GCAL in iCal try GCALDaemon. More details are at http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6921704#6921704.
The Windows Outlook solution requires a Google plugin for Outlook.

I think we may be talking about two different things. Thunderbolt is the new two way display port on Mac Book Pros and Apple displays.

How do i sync ical with google calendar, in that direction

i have google cal and ical syncset up but it was set up by google telling what to enter into ical. this made my other calendars, all the google calendars i have other than the main one, into "delegates" on ical.
whats the reason or process for this? cant they just been normal calendars on ical?
the reason i ask is that i have a menu pull down app which seems to only read "normal" calendars and not delegated calendars...
can i sync ical to google cal but enter details into ical to sync with google rather than the other way round?

Sync ical to google calender

I been using ical as my calender and I want to sync it with my gmail google calender. I have all my events in ical and none in google calender.
I do not want to import events in google calender into ical, i want to do the opposite.

I just bought my first smart phone (Android 2.1 Garminfone) 2 days ago. I tried to hold out for an iPhone but T-Mobile didn't pick it up and its not worth switching carriers to get one. I am in the same boat that you are in. I have a rather extensive calendar on my Mac that I need to sync TO google so I can then sync it to my phone. So far I have not had any luck. To be honest this phone is not really an improvement over the old flip phone I just got rid of. Sure, I got a GPS that I can make phone calls on but if it were not a free upgrade I would be a little angry.

I am trying to sync my Google calander with my iCal calander . I have tried the support suggestions in Google help. Re: creating another account in ICal etc.. But that doesn't work.

How to sync iCal with Google calendar (both ways)???

I have been trying to sync my ical with my google calendar both ways.
I got all new event created in google calendar syncing into iCal but i can't get the one created in iCal go into google calendar.

When entering a new event in iCal be sure your "google" calendar is highlighted on the left had side of your screen. That makes Google your default calendar as you add events. Or you can choose which calendar from the drop-down box in the details box when adding a new entry. The down side is that is seems you can only select one Calendar; so the "Home", "Work", "Untitled" options become moot if you want to sync back to google.
If you already had events scheduled in iCal; you can right click on them, select "Calendar" and then choose your google calendar. When you refresh your google calendar that event should show up.
You simply need to be sure what Calendar you're entering into. Also if you wait a few SECONDS the calendars DO sync without any need to manually synchronize them.
So basically, ensure you're entering into the Google Calendar in iCal and wait a minute.

Sync ical with google cal

I have a mid2012 mba 11'' with an update to lion. The google cal syncs with my ical perfectly fine. But whatever update I made on ical doesn't show up in google cal. Any help will be appreciated.
ps. I found some previous discussion on this topic, but any ideas on the Lion operation system? Is it possible to do it without any external application? (My preference) If not, what's the best one for Lion?

I am having the same problem. Was perfect until a week ago but now I am receiving errors and iCall is not getting the changes I make in GCal.
What´s weird is that my iPhone is getting the changes perfectly. The problem is only in my Macs: Powerbook and iMac.
Even when I press refresh, refresh all or use sync in the finder menu... iCal wont refresh.

While google has application specific passwords set up, they don't seem to work through iCal or though Mail, Contacts and Calendars. Any ideas or solutions would be great.

Thanks Kao. I've tried that. Didn't work for me.
I found a reply in another thread that indicated that after setting up in Mail, Contats and Calendars I needed to delete my account from within iCal then recreate it in iCal using the application specific password. I did that. iCal seemed to accept it, I've closed and reopened a few times and it seems to be working now without the errors.
I was able to get it to work yesterday temporarily - hope it sticks this time.

But when I try to create account in Ical, it says "calender could not be found". I have tried to search in online internet forums and help pages but there is no solution. Are you insinuating that I have been posting the same comment elsewhere? That I work for Calgoo? You must have some nerve, and I wish you could accuse me, if that is what you are doing, face to face, so I could reply in a more appropriate manner.
I will refrain from saying anything else to you until you answer these questions, and limit myself to replying that I have no relationship whatsoever with Calgoo, only downloaded it yesterday, and was trying to help people who, like me, were not able to sync Google and iCal despite following the instructions given by Google.

On my BB Bold 9700 I used to have my BB calender synced with Google Calender and I used a Google Sync App to link them.

However I cannot find Google Sync on App World now.

I need to sync iCal on my two mac computers and am not sure how to do it.

iCloud will probably solve this issue once it gets released. Meanwhile, you can sync one of them with Google Calender first, then sync Google Calender with the others. I'm quite sure this will work.

Now I'd like to sync my calendars from iCal on osx with the Lightning calendar in thunderbird on windows. I know lightning supports .ics files.
I also have macdrive to acces the mac files.

How to sync ical with multiple apple devices and android?

Does anybody have use an android phone in addition to apple devices, and have you figured out how to sync ical with all? (I know there are other calendars that can be used by all, but it means a lot to my husband to stay with ical.)

I tried Yahoo in the past but had trouble with duplicate entries. However, this was a while ago before Yahoo updated their site and this was with syncing to a Windows computer with Outlook in addition to a Mac so my results might not be typical. Yahoo's worth a shot, but my experience with Yahoo is why I use Google Calendar.
Beyond that, I don't know of any other "free" services. There are many other hosted calendar sites that could work, but you'd pay something like $5-$20 per month, which is comparable to MobileMe.
