Sync ical with two iphones

We have two iPhones.  I have a long-time paid iCloud account that the whole family has used for years for iTunes purchases etc.  Everything syncs fine between devices and my phone.  Now that my wife has a phone, we want to continue to sync calendars and contacts.  But we don't want to have each other's pics and reminders show up on both phones.  This is what happens when I use my iCloud to set up her phone.  So I set up her own ID.
Is it possible for us to sync our calendar and contacts?  Or would it be better to put her phone under my original acount and somehow configure the sync to only sync  what we want?   What about iTunes?  Does that work independently of the ID I set up on her phone?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I imagine this is pretty common among couples and families.  What does everyone else do?
Thanks,
Nick

Your link was helpful. I reviewed the prefs on the addressbook on the MacBook Air, and they are set as iCloud is the default account. And iCloud is enabled. The only other account is the On My Mac, not synced with any other service. The All Contacts entries are different than the entries on the iPhones.
Each iPhone is set with iCloud on, in PUSH mode with 15-minute Fetch as well. It doesn't matter whether they are only 3G modem, or on the same wi-fi as the laptop. The router is a NOVATEL MiFi 5-port wireless on Verizon. The entries are different on the laptop and the iPhones (both of which have the same data).
I edited the laptop SysPrefs/iCloud account settings to [email protected] The laptop iCloud account is [email protected], and the two iPhones are [email protected]
I see in my original posting this was reversed. The status is: me.com for the laptop. mac.com for the iPhones. Laptop & iphones do not update from the default info on the laptop, nor vice versa.
I have all features on the iCloud selected except for MAIL and NOTES on the laptop. All settings in the iCloud on the iPhones are on except for MAIL.

  • How do I sync iCal with two iPhones?

Simply put, I want to share my schedule with another person via iCal through iCloud. Can I just add an account to iCal and then it just works, or what more do I have to do? I want to be able to sync two different iphones on two different macs to the same calendar. PLEASE HELP. a Yes or No would suffice, and if YES please tell me how to do it! Thanks!

You don't.  I asked Steve Balmer (CEO of Microsoft) and got this reply from his staff:
Thank you for your feedback and your interest in Outlook for Mac 2011.
Steve's office forwarded me your mail and asked me to reply. Outlook 2011
syncs with Exchange and Office 365 calendars, but as you point out there
is no consumer calendar service that syncs with Outlook 2011. Here's what
I do to work around the lack of direct sync: I keep my family calendar on
Hotmail Calendar, which works great through Safari on my Mac (and also
other popular browsers like Chrome), and syncs directly to my iOS devices
and my PC. I understand your frustration with not being able to see your
personal calendar directly in Outlook for Mac. Contrary to your
impression, we've never promised to add this feature, but we strongly
consider customer feedback like yours as we plan future versions. Thanks
again for your feedback and for taking time to write.

  • Using Ical with two iphones

I have a mac mini which both my wife and I use. We both have iphones and we used to sync Ical through my mobileme account to both phones. We could both make changes to the calendars and the changes would change on each others phones automatically. I can't get this to work with Icloud though.. Please can someone help.

Iphone will sync/manually mange music with one and only one computer.
If you sync/manage to another, it will erase the content from the iphone and replace with content from the new computer.
This is by design and intentional.

  • Can I sync iCal between two iPhones?

My wife and I each have a Mac and an iPhone and MobileMe. We each use iCal, which syncs wonderfully well for each of us, separately. What I want to do is be able to enter some shared events and have them sync to both desktops and both iPhones. I know I can create a shared calendar and publish it to MobileMe and then have her subscribe it, BUT that puts the event in a read-only status on her desktop only, and not on the iPhone.
I'm led to believe that OS 3.0 will solve this. Is that true? Is there a solution now, and if so, is there one that I won't have to undo when 3.0 comes out?

We have one MM account for the both of us [email protected]
Ok i'll try the instructions bit now
All this is done from the MM web interface
First we stopped the home computers syncing to MM
Then we set up two email aliases [email protected] and [email protected]
that way we can each have an individual email address and a shared one as well
We then filter the email coming in so they go to a folder named for each of us or if it's sent to the main MM email account it stays in the inbox (though you can just leave it so all mail to both of you along with the main email will go into the inbox)
choose Actions(the little gear symbol)>Preferences>Aliases tab to manage aliases
For calendars you go to the calendar view
Then on the left click on the + symbol or right click and choose to create new calendar we created three "us" (for shared events), "myself" (for me), "mywife" (for my wife) and assigned a colour to each
    on the iPhone
go to settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar>(appropriate calendar for each iPhone)
This means that when you create a calendar entry it will default to being in your colour
If you want to create a calendar entry for your wife when you add a new event there is an option to choose the calendar you add it to, once the event is added though you can't edit this afterwards.
The default view is to see all calendar entries for everyone if you just want to see your events open Calendar>Calendars then select the appropriate calendar to just view that calendars events the calendar will remember this setting for next time
Once this was done we re-sync'd the home computers to MobileMe and they picked up the multiple calendars and displayed the entries accordingly so no setup was required on them.
Hope this helps if you want me to expand on any points let me know as i tried to keep it as brief as possible while still providing a reasonable guide.

  • Sync overlap with two Iphones, two ITunes accounts, one computer

How do my wife and I stop getting each other's contacts, calendars and downloaded apps when we sync our Iphones? We have two different ITunes accounts. She logged herself out of her account and then I logged myself into my account, I deleted one of the apps (her downloaded App that synched onto my Iphone) under the App Tab. I logged out of my account then logged into her account - I opened up the App Tab in her account and found the app I had deleted from my account was deleted from her account also...What is going on here? I thought these were two separate accounts? How can I make them separate?
Would be very grateful for assistance in sorting this out.

Sorry for being unclear, when I said "new user account" I meant a new user account on your computer, not a new iTunes account, for example a new Windows user. As a new user you'll get a new, empty iTunes library. And your device will be erased during the first sync.
Apps can only be used with the account you bought them, so you can't share them or use them with a different iTunes account.
To copy your apps and data to the new iTunes before syncing, back up manually, here's how to:
Set up your iTunes account, disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures taken with the phone and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your phone got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

  • Cant' sync ical with my iphone since upgrading to itunes 11

Since I upgraded to itunes 11 my iphone is not syncing with my MacBook ical. I have spent about 5 hours resetting settings and not getting anywhere. Any suggestions?

Changing this setting on my iphone then changed how itunes reads it and lets you sync. So simple.

    I solved my own problem.
After updating to the newest iTunes it thought i wanted to sync with iCloud.
On my phone i went to settings -> icloud -> and turned off iCloud for calendar.
After doing this the iTunes menu came back that enabled me to sync with iCal.

  • How can I sync iCal with my iPhone 4 without connecting to iTunes?

I would like to be able to add an event to iCal (for example) and have it automatically update in my iPhone. I currently have to plug the iPhone in. I do not subscribe to MobileMe or Google calendars, and don't want to! Any help is appreciated.

Unless you subscribe to iTunes Match ($24.99 per annum in the US) and upload those songs to it form your computer, then the only way to get them into your phone's Music app is by connecting the phone and syncing.

  • Syncing contacts with two iphones

Hi, my girlfriend recently got an iphone and we synced her iphone along with mine on my itunes account, which I think was a mistake! Now I have synced my phone I have lost all my contacts. Can I get them back? Won't they be saved somewhere on my Mac?

Used as recommended, the iPhone synchs your contacts to a supported contact manager program on your computer like Outlook (Windows) or Address Book (Mac), or with a cloud service like MobileMe or Google.  Relying on your phone as a sole place to store your contacts is a very bad idea, as phones can be easily broken, lost or stolen, or the data can become corrupt.
By having your contacts synched with one of the services above, you greatly decrease the chance your contacts will be lost.
You might be able to restore your phone from a previous backup and get some contacts back, but any new contacts since that last backup and current will be lost.
I've included a copy of the iPhone User Guide and I strongly encourage you to read through it.
    Best of luck.

  • Syncing Ical with two IMacs

Hi, My wife and I both have I Macs, and each have a separate mobile me account. We want to work from only 1 ICal. Can this be done? If o, how do you set this up?
    Thanks

I believe it would be possible for you to run your own CalDAV server to achieve this, but it's quite a technical matter and I can't advise on it (possibly someone else can).
An easier solution - and cheaper in the long run than MobileMe - would be to use BusyCal - $49.99 or $79.99 for the Family Pack from the website, or cheaper in the Mac App Store. This is sort of 'iCal Pro' with a number of extra facilities. It uses iCal's database, so can easily be used as a replacement.
It can sync calendars instantly between Macs on a network - though both machines have to be on simultaneously for this to work: changes made on one Mac turn up seconds later on the other.
As an free alternative you may be able to get the desirable results with Google Calendar, running in a similar way to MobileMe (though I understand it doesn't handle ToDos). I don't know how effective or reliable this is.

  • Hi there just got a new 11' MBA but I can't sync iCal in my iPhone 3GS with it.  Advice?

Hi i just got a new 11' MBA but can't sync iCal with my iPhone 3GS.  Advice pls?

Disconnect your devices then reboot your computer.
Before connecting your devices again reboot your devices. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Still not resolved: cannot sync iCal with either my iPhone or Nokia E71

I have tried everything that has been suggested in these posts, but neither the iPhone NOR the Nokia E71 want to sync with my iCal calendars (I have 4 set up in one iCal application). Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? It used to work fine, but not is suggesting that the iCal calendar is not "writable".

I have just discovered something else on this issue (which still persists)..when I set up an appointment in the Nokia, it does find calendars to sync with but in Entourage instead of in my iCal? Does this help solve the problem that I have been having syncing iCal with Nokia/iPhone?? Anyone???

  • ITunes doesn't sync iCal with iPhone after upgraded to Mountain Lion

iTunes doesn't sync iCal with iPhone after upgraded to Mountain Lion. I even tried to use Replace Information On This iPhone and it doesn't work. Any idea guys?

I'm having the same problem. It's as if my iPhone and MacBook Pro now have two separate calendars.
Basically, I have a MacBook Pro (Mountain Lion, 13", late 2011) that I sync via USB with an iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1). Before upgrading to Mountain Lion, all of my iCal events would sync flawlessly. But none of the events I've created in iCal (Calendars) since upgrading have synced to the iPhone. Likewise, no new events that I create on the iPhone Calendar will sync to iCal. Also, changes to an existing event (even one created before upgrading to Mountain Lion) don't get synced either.
Everything else seems to be syncing just fine though (music, apps, contacts, etc).

  • Solution for syncing iCal with Exchange2003

After two days searching and struggling, I finally have found a solution to sync iCal with Exchange 2003. Outlook 2011 for the Mac connected to an older Exchange 2003 server, gives imap email functionality, but no support for syncing calendars or address books. With DavMail running as gateway on your Mac, you can sync not only iCal, but also calendars on mobile devices such as iPhone and iPad.
Here I wrote how I did it: http://www.zweerscreatives.nl/?p=372

    Dennis,
You can try a work around that allows you to sync tasks and contacts to outlook using an alternate profile in outlook.
Create a new 'dummy' profile (ie CRMOD) in Outlook. You will need to make up a fake email server settings or base it on the IMAP connection to Beehive.
Once you have created the dummy profile, add the .pst data file to your normal Beehive Profile, this will allow you to access the tasks, calendar and contacts in the CRMOD profile.
In the PIM Sync setup select your 'dummy' profile as the outlook profile to sync.
Your users will have two contact, task and calendar folders on thier outlook desktop, but some folks prefer to separate their contact files and tasks anyway. Outlook will display a unified set of tasks if you view 'To-Do List'
Make sure to check the 'Show this folder as an email address book' in the contact folder properties.
Hope this helps while you wait for the enhancement!
