Sync in 2 computers without losing 2.0 update.

Hello,
first of all I would like to apologize for my english, but I am Greek.
Anyway, I would like to ask you, if anyone of you, knows how can I sync my Ipod Touch to my second computer, without losing the 2.0 update I have already paid for. I have done the update to my laptop and now I want to use my desktop. I think that there is a way of doing this with the January Update, by transfering a file from the first computer to the second one. Is it the same for the 2.0 update?
Thank you in advance for your time!

As far as I'm concerned, once you have updated your ipod to 2.0, it'll stay there even after you restore it to the factory mode. Just make sure that you have installed the latest itunes version for both PC and laptop and transfer all the applications to the new itunes or just download new the same application to the PC. This once happened to my touch. I got a 2.0.1 update and it was restored from another computer. What I did was just to sync the restored ipod with my PC. Hope this will help.

  • TS1474 how to sync with another computer without losing contacts

i have got another laptop and when i connect it to my laptop it says it needs to erase whats on my phone and resync with the laptop.
any help on how i can sync to my laptop without losing anything.

The iPhone is not intended to sync to multiple computers, even if manually managed (unlike other iOS devices).
There is a workaround where you copy your iTunes library file from the computer you normally use to another computer, and boot the other iTunes with your library file.  You then update the "new" library on the other computer with whatever new files you want to transfer to the iPhone.  As long as your iPhone remains manually-managed, you should be able to drag and drop the new items to the iPhone.

  • All backup/sync files for Iphone lost on old PC, anyway to sync with new PC without losing music, photos, contacts and texts?

All backup/sync files for Iphone lost on old PC, anyway to sync with new PC without losing music, photos, contacts and texts?

Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your iphone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your device got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
Apps can be downloaded again for free, in the US music as well. Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • Syncing after deauthorising all 5 computers without losing apps

HI i have deauthorised the 5 computers that were on my account. Now when i plug in my ipad to try to sync it to a new pc it looks like it is going to wipe the ipad of the apps and data already on there. How do i sync it without losing all my apps and data?
    Thanks in Advance.

I am trying to re-establish all of our i-products (a family of iPhones & iPods) without losing game/app data, song lists, photos etc on each device .
I have started with an iPod I can afford to lose data on as a trial,
I have Backed it up , Transferred the Purchases and then even synced it from its front page on iTunes.
However when I select the Music tab in the iPod and then select Sync, it warns me that all music will be lsot and replaced with the current music on iTunes, and wipes the indicator on the botom of the screen of all music,
How do I sync this and each of our other devices without losing each indivisdual's data/ music/playlists/contacts/app data etc.
If I lose everything I will be the worst parent in the world, if i sync and data is saved i remain without thanks but with some semblance of self respect.

  • How to sync my iphone 4 (which is synced on my laptop currently) with my home computer where I also sync my iPad 2 without losing the data on my iphone 4?

Hi there.  I have an iphone 4, which is currently synced with itunes on my laptop.  I also have an ipad 2 which is currently synced with a more powerful and storage capable home computer.  I would like to know if there is a way to sync my iphone 4 with my home computer, without losing my messages, apps, and other info.  I am using Windows 7 on both machines.  I don't know if there is a way to "merge" both itunes libraries for this?  Any help will be appreciated.

I synchronize my contacts and calendars across multiple computers (and iPhones) via iCloud, but all of the devices end up with the same versions.
I don't want our different mail accounts synchronized between computers, so I don't sync that with iCloud, but you can (I don't recommend it with your work computer).
You should be able to sync the music with iCloud.
Give it a try and see if that works for you.

  • Syncing to new computer without losing data - Issue.

Hi all. I have previously made a thread on this issue but things have changed since and so has the original problem, so I thought it needed a new discussion.
I'm currently moving my iPhone from my old Vista PC to my newer Macbook Pro (OS X Lion), without losing data.
As advised, I followed this tutorial: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
However, after the restore had finished, only my apps were syncing with the new computer. If I want to sync my music or tones etc, it still wants me to erase my iPhone.
Is there another way to get around this? I've reached the stage where it's syncing apps, so I'm almost there... I'd just like to sync the rest too.
    All help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Firstly, my response was directed to the message with the picture. I don't have the same music as I had before, and unlike the OP who resolved it that way, I lost some music because in order to sync to my new computer I needed to erase all my music on my iphone first! I mean how stupid is that. Leave my music alone and put new music on it!
Look I love my iphone and I'm not hear to promote Samsung (fyi, there are other android companies). What I tried to say was that apple should stop being stupid and change itunes so that I can drag and drop, use multiple computers (because some households have that!), and not have a hassle with simple tasks like that! The ultimatium is change itunes or face costumers leaving your product behind! In the end I wish to keep using the iphone but solely because of itunes I can't and won't!

  • HT4527 my old laptop is dead how do I sync to new computer without losing everything

I am trying to sync my ipod classic to a new computer my old one is dead, but it wants to erase everything how do I do this without losing all my music?

I think you were saying your computer was very slow when I first clicked on this thread... If so start at the beginning, otherwise skip to the last paragraph.
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

Yeah, the problem is I had a lot of music from lots of different places, CD's etc. which of course as i had a digital copy of, got rid of, Nightmare ! Guess i'll just have to start my music collection although first on the shopping list is an external hard drive !

  • Is it possible to sync to new computer without losing everything?

I've had two new hard-drives over the past year, is there anyways to sync my phone to my computer without losing all of my data (music, settings, contacts)?

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first. When replacing a hard drive, your computer is detected as a new or different computer by your iPhone and if don't include your iTunes library and photos on your computer with your computer's backup stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only and restore this data from your computer's backup - your iTunes library is empty and the photos transferred from your computer before the hard drive was replaced are not restored from your computer's backup, all existing iTunes content and photos on your iPhone will be erased with the first sync for this data since this data on your iPhone is no longer available on your computer.
Contacts on your iPhone are not touched with this unless you are syncing contacts with a supported address book application on your computer, which you should be doing.
Everything on your iPhone is not erased - iTunes content and photos transferred from your computer only.
Do you not include your iTunes library with your computer's backup?

  • PC Crashed, need to get iPhone synced with new PC without losing data

I have an iPhone 4 which I purchased a few weeks ago. Love the phone. The PC I set it up with has crashed so I need to use another PC to store/transfer data to/from the iPhone. I don't want to lose the data I have already put on the iPhone (about 700 songs, movies, 200 apps, contacts...) so a simple sync will not work. The files on this other PC are almost identical to the files I had on the original PC. Is there any way to change the single PC the phone will connect with, without changing/losing the data already on the iPhone?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
If you sync your iphone contacts/calendars to a blank computer, then they will be erased as well. Another reason to use your backup.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, then you can enter one unique contact and calendar entry on the new computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge.

  • How do I sync to new computer without losing all of my music?

My old computer finally crashed and I had all of my music on there. The songs are all lost. Most of it was from CDs I had (100s of CDs) that I no longer own due to a house fire a few months back. The only versions I have of them are on my iPhone 4S so I don't have any way to back them up because in order to sync to a new computer you lose everything and get whats on the new one conputer.
I have no idea how to save the ~1300 songs that I have from all those old mix CDs and stuff because I need to get my phone set up with this new computer and sync new music.
Is there anyway to guarentee I will not lose my entire library?

  • How can I change the main computer I sync my iPhone to without losing my app data?

I used to sync my iPhone 4 to the family computer because it is a mac, but I recently moved out and need to sync it with my computer (a pc). I know I will lose all my music and video content but is there a way to prevent the loss of my app data? I do not see anywhere I can transfer information besides purchases made on the phone. It would appear iTunes will not let me back up data onto a computer that I do not already sync with. Any ideas?

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you re replacing your computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on your own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
    1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in itunes(under the edit menu if using Windows).
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Outlook, Windows Address Book) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
    6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.
