Sync'ing Contacts - Changes to Contacts on Computer

When syncing contacts using iTunes between Outlook and iPhone, I receive a message that says it will "change more than 5% of the contacts on this computer."
Does anyone know exactly what will be changed in my Outlook contacts? Data deleted out of the contacts? If so, I can't sync my contacts as all contact information in Outlook is important.

Did you assign rigntones or pictures to individual Contacts in the iPhone? This data will attempt to sync back into Outlook as new data in the entry. It should not overwrite any existing data, even through the concept of a ringtone is not supported in most Windows & Mac apps.

    Go to Solution.

first export your outlook contracts in vcf format, move them to your phone storage, now go to people on your phone, swipe up from bottom, select import/export> import from storage.
wait, it is better to use outlook.com app on Nokia X to sync your contacts and calendar.

  • Sync'ing contact info?

If when I make a change to a contact on my iPad if does not automatically sync over to my iPhone, what is the best way to get the info over to my phone?

The best way is to use the type of contact account that synchronizes between Apple devices.  One such account type is an iCloud account.

  • Sync'ing contacts with Outlook no longer works

Ipod Nano 4gb with latest iTunes 7.02.16. Problem was also present on previous version of iTunes.
At one time, for a while after I bought my iPod nano, I could sync my Outlook contacts. It used to popup a message in Outlook asking for permission and I would say, yes, 10 minutes or whatever.
Now iTunes just keeps saying "Cannot sync contacts with Outlook, try closing all instances of Outlook and restarting" but that suggestion does not solve the problem.
Anybody know how to fix this?
    cheers,

Am I able to sync my iPod Touch 4th generation to a 2nd computer with iTunes, or will I loose everything on the iPod?

You can only sync with one computer/iTunes library.  However, you manage music with more than one computer..  See:

  • "sync"ing songs from IPOD to new computer

My old computer crashed and I had to get a new one recently. I have downloaded the latest ITUNES Software (7 I believe). How can I get the music on my IPOD to transfer into my ITUNES Library on my new computer? I am worried that the new ITUNES is going to erase all the songs on my IPOD. Thanks so much for the help.

No. Fortunately I was able to transfer songs, however, none of the playlists were copied. The whole process of transferring songs from the iPod to a new computer is ridiculously scary; I've had to re-install songs from backups in the past - and it takes days. It's too cumbersome for an ordinary non-techie. The protected/purchased songs transferred easily from the iPod to the new computer. However, the 1,000s of other songs had to be copied as suggested using the iPod first as a removable drive to copy the library folders to the new computer, and then adding those files/songs through iTunes. That created "duplicates" of the purchased songs; I deleted the duplicates based on the Added Date in iTunes. The copied library folders were deleted after I verified the #songs in the new iTunes libary. I had to redo my playlists (viewing the old computer) and re-add a few podcasts. Adding the iTunes library was the most difficult task in setting up this new computer.

  • Can no one help? Sync'ing iPhone with a new computer after crash on old PC

    Hi all,
I'm hoping any lack of response was because you were taking time off at Christmas and not that I defeated the best of the bests.
Hopefully your reply is simply a case of saying 'YES!' to the steps below.
Here's a sort of potted timeline history as to what has occurred:
My iPhone 3GS was backed up via sync to 2 different location PCs.
The main location was here at 'home' where I managed my Music Library and Apps on a Vista based laptop.
My 'Work' PC simply dealt with sync of Contacts with a folder in Outlook.
The home PC was backed up fully typically once a fortnight.
A few weeks ago, my home PC had a catastrophic failure and it is clear I can't recover from the HDD.
I restored the key folders from the backup to a 'from backup' folder on the new PC and not the same folder structure as it has Windows 7.
From this folder I moved the entire contents of my music folder into Windows 7's music folder (and there is a sub-folder in there called 'itunes').
So, after reading a couple of threads, bizarrely enough, this one on iPad seems the nearest scenario to mine http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11527315
user, 'virtualgeo' summarises neatly the steps of sync'ing so I guess this would figure the same here but with an iPhone?
I'veinstalled the latest iTunes on my new PC and I'm ecstatic to see all my music and apps appear on running up iTunes for the first time.
I've gone to Edit>Preferences>Devices and checked the box next to "Prevent your iPod from automatically syncing" (However I see no previous backups being shown in this window. Is it worth recovering this from my backup?)
I've also authorised the new computer successfully.
So I was going to continue following virtualgeo's steps in the thread but not sync'ing contacts if that looks sensible?
Anything else I should do before connecting my iPhone to iTunes?
And out of interest, should I be backing up my iTunes separately to my PC backup?
    Many thanks in advance!

Well I forget the exact keys, but believe pressing and holding down CTRL before clicking Restore will allow you to browse and find the backup file (may be wrong).
In the end, as far as the iPhone thinks, it is a new computer so it will erase and resync stuff and as long as you loaded everything back into iTunes all should sync back. Main issue is other stuff like the data within the apps, notes, etc that are part of the backup which is why you would want to try to restore from the backup. If you don't mind losing data in apps (eg: do you care you have to relog into some apps and start over, don't care about game scores, etc) then you don't have to worry about the backup. If you have important data in some of those apps then you will need to restore from the backup.

if i insert / edit / delete a contact in Outlook, the change is propagated NOT on iphone / icloud.
I have made several attempts and tests.
disconnected from the icloud control panel, logout / login, checks on plugin outlook add-ons, no positive results!

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to move everything to your new computer.

  • What is the best way to have Mac setup for sync-ing 2 calendars?  Any way to change? When we 1st got our Macbook we unknowingly set it up wrong--as 2 separate users, with separate everything. Good for contacts and email, bad for calendar, photos, music.

  • HT201210 All my contacts disappeared...and my phone was sync 'ing' for over 1 1/2hours this morning and nothing was changing...

my phone is acting up.....have lost contacts for second time in two months, also when I take a picture it goes black and back to 'homescreen'....
I had my phone hooked to computer this morning sync 'ing' for over 1 1/2hours.......

If you are using the iphone as designed then you should lose very little or nothing.
You should be syncing contacts with your computer regularly, so all of your contacts should be on your computer and you can sync them back.
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera, most especially before any attempt to update.
You should be transferring all purchases made on your iphone to your computer: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Contacts and Calendar not sync'ing with Outlook 2010

All was fine today until (maybe coincidental - maybe not) I had a Microsoft Exchange email account added to my Outlook 2010.  I have an iPhone 4, and I usually sync daily, especially when calendar or contact changes take place.  I am currently not using the icloud, so all contacts and calendar events would be way too outdated.
I have checked my Outlook settings under "info" and cannot get my contacts and address to load.  I even see the "Contacts syncing"..."calendar sync'ing" when the overall iTunes sync takes place with my iPhone.
