Sync'ing music on 2 different accounts?

I have 2 Apple ID accounts (1 for Home and 1 for Work -- each has a different credit card designated for it).
I also have 2 devices (Touch for Home, and now iPhone 4S for work).
All of my Music resides on my laptop and I use it on my iPod Touch, and I sync it with iTunes.
Is it possible for me to sync this music to my iPhone 4S (which is on a different Apple ID)?

Yes. Copy everything from the work library into the home library, which will make a single library containing everything, and then sync your phone.

  • Having a nightmare sync'ing music!!

The phone was working okay sync'ing music, now it just won't behave.  I've deleted the music from the phone through settings etc but when I then mark an album to sync, and press 'sync' two albums sync that definately AREN'T ticked and the one that is doesn't!  Using iTunes ver 11.3.8, got 'manually manage music' ticked etc and turned off being able to see all music (i.e. in the cloud).
This is doing my head in..

  • How do I sync iTunes music to two different iPhones on two different user accounts?

I have read some posts and a help article about this, but I need some clarification becuause what I'm doing is not working out correctly.  My wife syncs her iPhone and iPod to her iTunes.  I recently purchased an iPhone and am going to sync it to my own iTunes on a different user account on the computer.  How can I get the music from her iTunes account to sync with my iTunes/iPhone?  Whenever I try various routes, I end up with duplicated songs on my end and I'm not sure how it works when she adds music to her account.  My wife does all the music purchasing for the both of us and I want the music to sync both ways, but all other content needs to stay separate.  We are running iTunes 11 on Windows 7.  Any help would be appriciate and I'm sorry if this is a redundent question.  Thanks.

I followed the following articles: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495 and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203
Here are the questions I have regarding the second article which is not clear to me:
When dragging the media file to a public location, the article says not to move the iTunes folder.  Is it Ok that the media file is moved out of the iTunes folder when dragging it to the public location?  Is this what I am trying to accomplish?
There is a note about how iTunes for Windows does not, by default, copy items added to the library to the media folder.  Am I supposed to check the box to allow this?  Do I do the same for all users?
When I change the music folder location, am I changing it to the new public location?  Do I do this for all users on the computer that wants to use the same music files?
I tried changing the file location to the public folder, but received a message asking something to the effect of renaming files to keep the library organized.  Do I want this or not?
There is another note at the end that says if all users are storing their music in the same public location, then duplicates may appear in the library.  Isn't what this procedure is basically doing?  Can someone clarify this?
After following this article to the best of my ability, my iTunes ended up with duplicates of everything, even starting off with nothing there to begin with.

  • HT201269 Can I sync my music from two different devices if I have two different e mail addresses and apple ids? If so how?

Can I sync or merge my music from two different devices if I have two different e mail addresses and apple ids? If so how?

Yes, if you choose the Erase and Sync option (or restore your iPod) you will be allowed to sync your iPod with the new computer.
If you would like to save the content that's currently on your iPod, see this older thread from another forum member Zevoneer discussing the different ways to copy the content on an iPod back to your PC.

  • Share music on computer (different accounts) /  restrict playback

    Hi,
I am running on windows xp and was wondering if anyone know.
    1. How to restrict playback of restricted songs?
    2. How to share music library over multiple accounts on the same computer. ( I know you can import - but I would like to know if there is an easy way to export a folder
over multiple accounts on same computer.
    Thanks

I'm no authority on the parental controls but ...
... looking at the article I provided a link for in my previous post, it seems that they (the parental controls) are not intended to stop a user from playing restricted content but rather prevent them from seeing such content in the iTunes Store. If they can't see the content, they can't buy it and can't listen to it ... unless someone else buys it and puts it in a Shared Music folder they have access to.
The trick would seem to be to make sure any restricted content you're purchasing does not end up in a Shared folder but rather in a private folder on your system. When you have an XP User Account with a private folder, buy your restricted content on that account and make sure the iTunes Music folder for that account is part of the private folder so your purchases will be downloaded directly into it.

  • Sync-ing iTunes with another Mac &/or external hard drives?

Can u use iSync or another app 2 sync iTunes music between 2 different macs &/or an external HD? If so how? I have an eMac & an iBook & it's a pain in the a@@ 2 always have to transfer music files back & forth using an external HD or downloading 2xs. Does anyone else have this problem & agree?

No, you cannot - using either iSync, .Mac Sync or the Backup application available to .Mac registered users.
iSync synchronizes only Calendars and Contacts, with mobile handsets and Palm handheld organizers or smartphones.
.Mac Sync synchronizes only Bookmarks, Calendars, Contacts, Keychains,
Mail Accounts and Mail Rules, Signatures and Smart Mailboxes with other Macintosh desktop and portable computers through .Mac, and with the .Mac servers themselves.
Backup will back up and restore your iTunes library to and from .Mac, external hard drives or removable media, but will not synchronize your library.
You are really asking the question in the wrong forum. You should consider posting your message in of the subcategories of the iTunes forum, here:

You could use an application like ChronoSync to synchronize your libraries, but you are liable to get the best advice about iTunes synchronization in the iTunes discussion areas. More information about ChronoSync is available here:

So i bought music on a different computer but oAn the same itunes account and on the same ipod and when i get on my original computer and i sync my ipod my purchases that were on the other computer didnt show up. How can i put them on my computer/ipod

Download them to the computer to which the iPod is synced, re-sync.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list, or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • I want to sync my iphone 4s to my home computer but have a different account for all the music on my home computer than on my iphone. What do I do?

I just got the Iphone 4s and am attempting to synch it to my home computer for the first time in order to transfer music and such. However, my home computer is set up with a different apple ID linked to my itunes library than my iphone apple ID. How do I transfer music and is it possible to merge accounts?

Apple ID accounts cannot be merged, and you can't transfer purchases to a new ID.  Purchases are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them.  You can, however, authorize your home computer for another Apple ID by opening iTunes and going to Store>Authorize this computer, and signing in with the other ID.  This will allow you to add purchases from this ID to your iTunes library and sync them with your phone.
When you sync with an iTunes library for the first time iTunes will delete all iTunes media (apps, music, movies, etc.) from your phone and replace it with the media in the iTunes library you are syncing with.  It's important to transfer your content to your new iTunes library prior to syncing so, although it will be deleted, it will simply be transferred back to your phone when you sync.  Music purchased from the iTunes store can be transferred from your phone to your library prior to syncing (as explained in the linked guides below), however music from other sources cannot.  You will either have to add these to iTunes from other sources (such as by ripping your CDs again) or use 3rd party software capable of transferring it from your phone (such as Touch Copy).
Follow these guides to start syncing with your new iTunes library with minimal or no data loss:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

  • Itunes says my computer is no loger authorized to play/sync music bought on my account. Suddenly is not recognizing updated email address.

Late last year (I believe) I updated the email on file for my itunes account, so that the one on file would be my most up-to-date current email. I have had no problems until now, when, trying to sync my most recently purchased music album to my ipod, a pop up happened saying that my computer was no longer authorized to play music bought with this account, yada-yada, and unless I signed it and r-authorized it, 400+ songs would be removed from the ipod. The original address was what appeared auto-filled. It obviously doesn't work, and while I was able to sign in (multiple times) with my current one, it wouldn't do anything. It IS the same account... when I went to the account page, I could even pull up a list of all the purchases made since 2007. And of course the apple/itunes tech "help" is crap, and I can't get assistance without PAYING the idiots 29$. Any input? As far as I can tell, those tracks were taken off my ipod, as I couldn't DO anything without another popup happening again and again and again, until I just exited out of it enough times.

That helped a lot, and authorized a few hundred that weren't authorized before. I still have 60, however, that are unable to be authorized.
It asks me to login to my AOL account, which is different from my Apple account. For some reason, that won't work either. Is there a way to link the two together?

  • I have 3 iphones, an ipod touch and an Ipad on the same itunes account.  should I have a different account for each device?  If so how do I get all my purchases, like music on all the devices?

I have 3 iphones, an ipod touch and an Ipad on the same itunes account.  should I have a different account for each device?  If so how do I get all my purchases, like music on all the devices?

You can sync as many devices as you want to the same iTunes account, there is no limit. You can have the same content on each device or different content, the choice is yours. iTunes will keep everything straight, by device, including separate backups. I'd suggest giving each device a unique name, to make things easier.

We have itunes music on a computer, an ipod nano, and a new ipod touch under two different accounts. How can we combine the music from both accounts to one device?

There is no "adding" a device.  Simply plug the iDevice into the computer.  iTunes should automatically detect the device when it is connected.
iTunes can sync/manage as many iDevices as you want... there is no 1 device limit.

I have an itunes account.  However, I need to copy music onto a different iPod than my own.  How do I do that?  Do I need to create a separate iTunes account for that iPod?

An account means an iTunes Store account which is an online service.  Do you mean that, or do you mean a library on a computer?
iOS devices can only be synced to one iTunes library at a time.  You can sync that iPod to your account but it will wipe everything currently on it.

If you use manual syncing, you can sync items from more than one iTunes library to your iPod. (You can sync iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad with only one iTunes library.) When manually managing content, you can add content from multiple libraries to your iPod or iPad. Even when manually managing music, some content may be available from only one library at time. This includes all content on iPhone and video content on iPod and iPad. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12113  and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202
I could post another 2 pages of stuff trying to cover every possible scenario.  It would help if you let us know exactly what you want to do.  Are you trying to sync just a few songs (like giving them to a friend which is something iTunes is deliberately set up not to do)?

I really don't know what this means.
What do you mean "when I try to change the email on my itunes"?
Where on itunes are you changing an e-mail?  and for what reason?
Not sure at all what you are trying to do an it seems that you are confusing e-mail, itunes accoutns and libraries.
Please explain exactly what you are trying to accomplish.
You have music on your computer?  You want that music on your iphone?
