Sync'ing Problem! =(

I had my iTunes on my old computer, and my computer broke. I got my new computer, and i just downloaded the newest itunes. I just tried to sync my songs, and it only synced less then half of my songs! Help, thanks!
Some Reasons i think is interfering with Sync:
1) When i installed it, it said i need 64-bit itunes, got that. worked fine.
2) Synced all of my songs...asked me if i want to erase and sync, or transfer purchases...i clicked on Transfer Purchases
3)When i click on "_______ iPod Touch" it and click on the drop-down arrow, and click on music-it does say all of my songs.
4) all my songs under my ipod touch are in grey, and un-movable...but playable.
I REALLY HOPE YOU CAN HELP!

Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
The ipod is not a storage/backup device. It simply mirrors the selected content of your computer.  When you sync to another computer it will erase the curent content and replace with content from the new computer.  This is why you need to copy everything from your backup copy first.
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases

  • Sync'ing problem driving me batty!

Here's the situation: I recently upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.7
I had been recording fine with Logic Pro 8 before I upgraded, and now that I've upgraded I get this annoying "Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI" message while in the middle of recording. It doesn't matter if I am recording a MIDI track or a real instrument track, though it's really irritating if I am recording a MIDI track because the MIDI will fail and I won't be able to continue recording. If I am recording a real instrument track I can ignore the message and keep recording and though I do get a little blip in the recording at least I can finish the take. I have a MOTU Ultralite mk3 with up-to-date drivers, but it doesn't seem to matter whether I use that or my M-Audio Uno. I haven't been able to find anything that addresses this specific problem and perhaps someone here has some idea how to fix this because I can't really record anything now without having to patch together takes from the few moments I can get of uninterrupted recordings. Needless to say I am sort of desperate to fix this problem.
O why or why did I ever upgrade?!?!?!?!

Well, I've since found a number of other reports of this type of problem, so it may be just another thing I will just need to suffer through. http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9614430
Maybe I'll go back to my old Tascam US122 to record for now until a fix is found.
I did try another full reset, after reinstalling the 10.5.7 Combo Drive. I followed your recommendation to disconnect all firewire devices before reinstalling. Then I also reinstalled the current driver from the MOTU site. Then I did a factory re-set of the Ultralite. I deleted my Logic preference files. Then I reconnected the firewire devices and relaunched Logic. I got the Error in synching within a minute after I pressed the Logic play button.
I also did repair preferences using Disk Utility, and did a full defrag using iDefrag.
I don't think there's anything else I can do. And I was so hoping that your advice would help! Thanks anyway. Maybe I'm missing something, and in that case, I'll try anything but for now I'm sort of stuck.

I have problems with certain applicaitons not sync'ing (like email, cal, notes)...need help

There are a few twists here. This is my opinion of a quick and easy way to do what you want to do.
Get a 2.5" sata enclosure like this one - this is just a sample:
    http://www.amazon.ca/eForCity-2-5-inch-SATA-Enclosure-Blue/dp/B0083OOV9G/ref=sr_ 1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360012807&sr=8-1
Put the new ssd in the enclosure, connect it to the Mac using the included USB cable. It is now an external drive.
Format the drive using Disk Utility.
Download and run Carbon Copy cloner, and clone your drive to the new external.
Shutdown. Open the MBP and remove the SSD drive from the enclosure and put it in the place of the old drive.
Boot the MBP. Once you know the new drive is up and running, you can get to the process of installing the old one in the optical bay.

  • Problems sync'ing iPod with iTunes

I purchased some episodes of The Office through iTunes recently. Initially these episodes appeared on my iPod after sync'ing. Now, when I sync, the episodes will not transfer to my iPod. They appear in my iTunes account, the checkboxes are checked, but I can't get them on my iPod.
Has anyone experienced this before? Any thoughts?
    Dell   Windows XP

    Disregard.
I found an option in iTunes where you can set the Play Count to zero. When this is set to zero and you sync your iPod, all content appears on your iPod.
Not sure if this is the best solution, but it works.

  • Time change problem in sync'ing w/Outlook Calendar

I have 2ndG iPod touch, 2.2.1 software and iTunes 8. Each time I sync the touch with my Outlook (2007) calendar, the touch changes the time zone from Eastern to California time for each event on my touch calendar. I've checked, rechecked and triple checked the time zone listed under Settings -> General (says New York) as well as under Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars (time zone support also shows New York). For example: Outlook calendar states the event begins at 7:15pm, after sync'ing the Calendar on touch says the same event begins at 10:15pm. I've manually changed each even in the past but since I schedule 2 months in advance, it's a real hassle to keep fixing them.
Is there another time zone change that I need to make? Why is this happening?
    Thanks.

I've called Apple Support. The suggestion is to reboot my iPod; start iTunes; connect my iPod; check the settings in iTunes for calendar (did already but I'll try it again); turn off my iPod & disconnect from my computer; reconnect my iPod while it is "off" to my computer while iTunes is running; then sync again and see what happens. If it doesn't work I'm supposed to call them back. Since today is a 12hr work day, it might be tomorrow before I have time to try this and report back.
    Thanks for your help.

  • IPod Touch 5.1.1 no longer sync'ing w/ iTunes 11.1.3(8). . . .Bad Battery ???

Three day ago my iPod began acting up in a major way.  The battery charging symbol within the battery indicator is no longer showing the iPod being charged when plug in to my MacBook Pro 5.1 via one of my two USB ports.  A new Apple iPod cable was purchased thinking it was a bad wire or pin not making the proper contact with this device.  The same conditions are happening with this new cable.  I have several other peripheral devices and those devices are working and are connecting to my MBP's USB port without any issues.  I have noticed for the past six months my iPod Touch 3rd Gen has been showing signs in needing longer charging times and seems to drain quicker than it used too.  The iPod for the past two nights have been charging for more than eight-hours each night and is sporadic as if it deciding "I'm I fully or 30% charged?" Although subtle, It seems to jump within the sliding battery scale when the device is powered off for a while.  Sometime showing 80% charged when used for a few hours to 30% charged when used for ten minutes.  My iPod is now over three-years old and I think it is time for a new battery!
But, in all honesty, not sync'ing with iTunes is it more than just have a new battery professionally installed? Or are there other electronical problems/components going bad with these devices?  What else can be wrong other than a new battery or will a new battery fix all what is mentioned above? Please be very honest and technical if needed, Thanks!

    Hi gbslade,
Considering your issue only seems to be with contacts, I would suspect there may be a corrupt/invalid contact entry in your Yahoo account.  My suggestion is to first setup a one-way synchronization from the BlackBerry to Yahoo, then do the opposite.  This should indicate where the issue is originating.
As well, check your Yahoo address book for any blank or incomplete contacts.  Contacts that are missing a first name, last name and company name cannot be synchronized to the BlackBerry and could potentially cause hang-ups or a failed synchronization.  A contact must have at least one of those three fields filled out.
    Thanks!

  • New Photos not sync'ing to iTunes

I think this happened before... I noticed that the Photos on Mac is changed. Though I don't really like the interface, I am trying to get used to it... however, once again, the photos are not sync'ing properly to iTunes... I need help... For example: there are more number of photos on my laptop after importing from my phone... Then I grouped them into different Events. However, I am not seeing these being sync back into my phone via the iTunes.
I happened before, and for some reasons, it get fixed by itself. DO you acknowledge these is a problem?

    HI,
Maybe try it this way this is what I did with mine because I did not migrate and didn't know about that either.
and really have the sidebar so because it will help you get the pictures organized
Photos application for Mac Instructions that might help!
On your iPad,iPhone keep the iCloud on in settings for Photos.
if you have not opened the New Photos application yet to have it transfer your photos from iPhoto let it Transfer the Pictures.
once you have all the pictures from iPhoto to Photos then in Photos go to Preferences
there is general and iCloud tab and go to the iCloud and only uncheck the iCloud button that will make it so it doesn't sync with your iPhone and iPad for Photos.
Then in Photos go up to View and press show sidebar because with that view you can move your pictures easier to albums snd delete or move any pictures or make new albums
For Duplicates if you have a big pile in a row and I mean not like every other picture of the same pictures on the keyboard Hold down the shift button. or the other way is to Hold down the Command buttom that is right by the space bar then on the trackpad or mouse click once on the picture you want to delete and do a bunch at a time then on the last picture of that pile either right click the picture and delete or go up to the edit button which is next to file on the top left and click delete in edit.
when you are all done with moving around your pictures or whatever go back to Preferences and turn on iCloud and make sure you have the optimize Mac Storage and then you are done! I hope this makes sense and works for you! here are the 2 pictures I'm talking about in settings.

  • Best phone for Sync-ing with iCal?

I'm due to upgrade my mobile and wondered which is the best available handset for Sync-ing with a mac. At present I have the Sony Ericson K750i which was working fine up until I upgraded to Tiger.
    Any ideas?

Has anybody had any experience syncing the Motorola
    KRZR with iCal?
I own a Motorola KRZR K1m (Sprint), which is supposedly supported by iSync 2.4. This seems to be a troublesome phone in regard to compatibility with iSync. If you read the iSync discussions, you will see many problems. Those that do get iSync to accept the KRZR as "supported" seem to still have problems with iCal in particular. Evidently, there are some system hacks available to force the sync to work with iCal. If you are not comfortable with getting inside files and re-writing code, then you may not be a happy camper.
Naturally, if you have access to a Windows machine, you will have no problem. (... Getting ready to duck, since that last statement will draw out all the Apple apologists and Apple-employee-wannabes ...)
Personally, I have had no success getting iSync to recognize my KRZR at all. While I can transfer files via bluetooth, the iSync issues make me wish I had some other phone. In fact, the iSync/KRZR issues are probably going to lead me to change to another (known to be supported) phone. Since I'm stuck with Sprint, that won't be easy.
    Good luck!

  • Having trouble sync'ing. Receiving Overcapacity error on my 64GB iPhone 5. Backed up and restored but still having sync issues.

I have an iPHone 5 64GB with iTunes 11 installed on an 2 yr old HP laptop running Windows 7. I am having sync'ing issues. I am receiving an overcapacity error I have not seen before even though I can manually remove audiobooks I have previously loaded to get the overcapacity down below the available 64GB limit. I have removed most of them now and can get the sync to begin. Not sure if it will actually complete. But now I do not have but a relatively few audio books loaded. I have backed up and restored to see it that helps but am still getting the same overcapacity error. Seems whatever I had included was doubled in an "other" category. Also, in the recent upgrade to iTunes, it takes forever to sync when I change content. Sync'ing takes a lot longer than before. Has anyone else experienced similar performance issues.

Lawrence Finch has previously provided the following helpful info...
"Other" data is real data that you put on your phone by using the built in apps. It is not music, not videos, not pictures and not App Store app data. It is "OTHER" meaning everything that does not fall into these categories. Such as:
    email messages and attachments
    Reminders
    Calendar entries
    Contacts
Text messages   (*** this can take up a lot of space)
    MMS messages and attachments
    Genius data
    Music cover art
    Operating system settings
    Safari cache
    bookmarks
    Game Center status
    Music catalog
If you have a lot of text messages stored, that can make "Other" very large.  Another problem area is corrupted files.  When app and data files become corrupted, they may end up in "Other".  To fix that, perform a restore from a recent backup.  That prevents corrupt files from showing up.

  • ICloud Library stopped sync'ing

I have Photos.app and iCloud Library on two computers, sync'ing with an iPhone 6. Everything was working perfectly for a week - any changes on one device showed up on the others very quickly. Then suddenly my main computer stopped receiving updates. Newly shot photos show up on my laptop and at icloud.com, but never appear on my main machine. Photos on the main machine says "Last updated Monday" (it's now Friday).
I've tried restarting, and tried pausing and resuming sync in the prefs, but nothing seems to get it going again. All machines are on the same wifi network, the phone is fully charged, all updates are applied.
    Ideas?

Solved! But it wasn't pretty. In case it's helpful to others, here's how I solved it:
I finally got desperate and in the preferences, disabled iCloud Photo Library, then after a few minutes, re-enabled it. When I re-enabled it, it said I had 86 "referenced files" that it needed permission to access. After some Googling, I realized that referenced files are files that don't live within the Photos library folder, but that are linked to. It then told me to find these referenced files and pull down File | Consolidate to bring them into the Photos library. It did not tell me *how* to find them, but I got creative and made a Smart Album of all images with type "referenced."
The smart album revealed the problem images, but when I selected some and pulled down File | Consolidate, Photos said it needed permission and told me to navigate to ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Masters/2012 and put up a file navigation dialog. So the "referenced" files were still in iPhoto! Huh? My other 20,000 images had migrated over just fine.  No idea why this was. But here's where the 2nd problem began. I *could not* navigate to that folder, since "iPhoto Library" does not appear in the Finder as a folder. So the dialog was telling me to do something  impossible.
After puzzling on this for a while, I realized that the problem could be solved by deleting the references to external files from Photos and re-importing them manually. I launched iPhoto and manually found all 86 images (they were from three  albums and fortunately I'm good about titling and labeling, so was able to find them easily. I then exported them from iPhoto as full res originals, deleted the references in Photos, and imported the old problem images as if they were new.
Photos then churned against iCloud overnight. By morning, it had become unstuck, and the photos I've shot over the past week are now present.
So the problem was not the new photos, but some old photos that for some reason had not migrated over from iPhoto properly. And Photos was recommending a fix that was impossible to achieve the way it was instructing me to. What a mess.

  • What's Up With Notes Sync'ing?

    Hi,
I just upgraded to iPhone 4S and switched from MobileMe to iCloud. I knew I was losing some features, but since the System Preferences…>iCloud pane (in Mac OS X 10.7.3) shows "Mail & Notes" (which I checked), I figured that notes will continue to sync. Except they do not. And, unlike the MobileMe PrefPane, there is no "Sync now" button to force synchronization. So, the notes on my iPhone and on my MBP are now out of sync. Then I thought to check on icloud.com… and find no way to access Notes there.
So, are Notes supposed to be sync'ed or not?? Does anyone else have this problem? (I suspect I can connect the iPhone to iTunes, and force the transfer of info, but that would not merge them and I'm likely going to lose something...)
    Thanks, Tristan

PS: I just forced sync'ing notes via iTunes (while the iPhone is connected, selected the iPhone in the iTunes side-bar, then the "Info" tab, checked "Other > "Sync notes", and then clicked "Apply", which re-started the sync'ing process). That prompted a merge-conflict dialogue box to pop up on my Mac, where I could select the note to keep/replace one by one. So, at least, my notes are now sync'ed.
The question remains: does this not happen via iCloud? Or, is there a setting I failed to set/check?

  • Mavericks Mail not sync'ing IMAP act. (Not GMail)

I have been waiting silently to see if a fix would come on its own, but none yet. Ever since upgrading to Mavericks, Mail.app does NOT sync my IMAP accounts correctly. I have gone so far as to remove and re-add the accounts numerous times... no change. The recent "update" that was supposed to address Gmail issues had no affect on my sync'ing issues either. As others have posted, I basically have to quit and re-launch mail for it to correctly show what is on the mail server. All of my iDevices are working just fine - I can read or move an email, and all my iDevices show it correctly... but when I return to my Mac - some show as unread - some messages that I moved or deleted are still THERE (unread), etc.
Once I quit and relaunch, the inbox displays correctly - but there is no way (that I can find) to force the inbox to "refresh" correctly while the app is open. "Getting new" messages does nothing to help. Has anyone found a solution or work-around...? or is this just a "sit back and wait for Apple to fix" kind of problem...?
    Thanks,
    SF

I have the same problem. The recent Mavericks update fixed the original Gmail problem (of not being able to get rid of mail from the in box), but this problem is there and very frustrating. Exactly the same as the original post - Mail on my Mac does not reflect the emails filed, moved, deleted etc from my iPad or iPhone. Gmail, iPad and iPhone are all in perfect sync, but the Mac is not.
The only way to force the Mac into line is to QUIT Mail and relaunch.
(By the way, I don't have any anti-virus on my machine, so it's nothing to do with that - its a Mavericks issue).
I have been looking at alternative mail clients as I have now lost all faith in Apple Mail. (I am committed to IMAP and Gmail, on 3 different email accounts).
Yersterday I tried Outlook (as I happen to have a copy with Office-2011 for Mac). I liked it apart from the fact that it won't work with iCloud contacts... so its no good for me.
I'm looking at Mailplane now.... doesn't seem to be available via App store, but I'm going to try a free 15 day trial I found online. I'd say that's how long Apple has to fix this problem as far as I'm concerned.
