First, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes on your computer (11.x). If you connect the phone to a USB port directly on your computer (NOT to a USB hub) and it still doesn't appear in iTunes you need to troubleshoot iTunes.

  • ITunes randomly unable to sync iPad, says my computer isn't authorized.

I'm completely stumped by this one. I have an iPad (3, I think) jailbroken with 6.1.2. I'm the only one that uses the iPad and the computer it syncs with, so it shouldn't be a multi-Apple ID issue. I have been using a iTunes 11.1 beta since it came out and my iPad has been syncing just fine. I upgraded to the official iTunes 11.1 when it was released, tried to sync my iPad the next day, and started getting an error saying that my computer wasn't authorized. It seems to happen when it gets to "syncing apps" during the process.
I don't know what could've caused this, and I doubt upgrading iTunes is to blame. Regardless, I tried authorizing, de-authorizing and re-authorizing, de-authorizing ALL from my iTunes settings, erasing the /Users/Shared/SC Info as advised from the apple support site, and rebooting my iPad and macbook tons of times.
I'm also syncing a lot of the same content to an iPhone 5 without any problems... any idea what the problem is?

The computer is new and I guess this is more of a computer than an iPhone problem, isn't it?
    Is the computer a Mac?
If so, perhaps also give the following document a try:

  • Sync iPad with another computer?

Does anyone know how I can sync my iPad on another computer? I've installed lots of apps on one computer, but I have some music, movies and other apps on another laptop that I want to sync onto the iPad. I do NOT want to replace everything already on the iPad with the second laptop's library, I want to ADD them to the iPad.
    Thanks.

Make sure that you are logged into your iTunes account on the computer. Also go to the Store menu and make sure the computer is authorized. This must be the same account you were already using for the iPad.
Now try to transfer purchases again. The apps really should sync with iTunes, but never having done this myself, I could easily be wrong.
If that fails, you can refer this article about How to transfer and sync contents from iPad to Computer, which includes detailed guide to help you sync iPad files to new computer.

  • Syncing iPad to windows computer to get music

I have had an iPod that I was always able to sync to my iTunes on my windows computer. I recently got an iPad an I was wanting to put the music I had on my old computer to the iPad but when I plug my iPad into my computer it does not pull it up on th iTunes area for a device? What do I need to do?

Is your iPad recognized by iTunes when connected - is it available under devices in the iTunes source list as with your iPod when connected?

  • Sync IPAD after reformating computer

I had a problem with my compter (Windows 7) had to reload the operating system and itunes. When completed I connected my iPad, iTunes indicates that I have synced with a different library and is going to delete all of the apps installed on the iPad. How do I sync all of the apps that I have bought and installed on the iPad to my computer?

You may have to redownload them.  Don't worry, you won't be charged again for anything you've already purchased, but make absolutely certain you are using the exact same ID, etc.  Have you backed up your iPad previously?  If you have you can restore from a backup and your Apps should be there......

  • Transfer ringtones not synced with itunes to new phone

I have an iPhone 4s that has ringtones on it. They have not been synced with iTunes and don't show up in the Tones Library when I sync. When I look at the sync options in iTunes and select Sync Tones, I get a message "Music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones synced to "My Phone" from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this iTunes library." I'm hesitant to do that because I'm afraid I'll lose the ringtones I actually have on my phone.
    Two questions:
    1. If I Sync Tones with my iPhone 4s, will I lose the tones that are on my phone?
    2. I now have an iPhone5s that I want to get those ringtones on. How can I do that?

  • Ipad won't sync with itunes in new ios7.1 update

After installing iOS 7.1, my iPad 3 would not sync over wifi with my Imac running OS 10.6.8. To get it to sync I had to connect the iPad to the iMac using the USB. That worked, and since updating via USB my iPad now updates via wifi when iTunes is opened.

  • Can't Sync Ipad 2 with Computer b/c Itunes 11.1 installation fails

Hello! I have a question in regards to my ipad 2 and syncing it to my computer. I recently installed IOS 7 onto my Ipad 2, but when I went to sync it with my computer, Itunes gave me an error saying that I needed to download and install itunes 11.1 for compatibility reasons with IOS 7. So, I was able to successfully download the new versions of itunes directly from the itunes website, but the issue came when the installation process began. The installation ran and had finished in a short amount of time and then I received this message:
"Errors occured during the installation before iTunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation, run the installer again. Click finish to exit the installer."
So I went ahead and downloaded the software multiple times (5 times) and attempted to install it multiple times and I constantly receive the same error that is displayed above. If anyone has any clue on how to fix this I'd GREATLY appreciate anyone's suggestions. I generally can fix these problems myself but this problem seems to be persistent and many other people are having similar issues.

I have to say this would only happen on a windows PC,   Why it doesn't prompt you to close all windows baffle me still!
The install gets hung up because of an open window.   You must close all windows before installation.
Open downloads and delete the downloads you did so far.
To get the install back on track:
Scary, but it will be the cleanest install.  Uninstall iTunes using the control center.  Directions can be found here:
    http://www.ehow.com/how_5610253_uninstall-reinstall-itunes-windows.html
Note...you must close all windows during install.   After the download, open download window, close all other windows.
    Click on install.

  • Synced iPad with wrong computer, now what?

    Hello All,
I bought this iPad a couple of days ago and I was planning on getting a new iMac in the near future. My Core Duo iMac would be too expensive to upgrade so it could have run 10.5. But my old G4 PowerBook Has 10.5.8 on it. So I upgraded that computer's iTunes to version 10. Now I Have a problem because, when I get a new iMac I'm going to transfer everything from the Core Duo iMac to the new IMac. How do I put the iTunes from the G4 PowerBook onto a new computer so I don't have to erase the iPad? The only music I ever bought from the iTunes Music Store is on my iPad and now on the G4 PowerBook. All the music on the core duo is mine and a lot I have no use for on the new iMac. What do I do? This is getting very worry some. Isn't there a way of deauthorizing the iTunes on the G4 and then move all the stuff I bought from the iTunes store to a different authorized ITunes? I have very little on my iPad and do not wish to lose it or what I have at the iTunes store.
    Please help,
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Ralph,
I copied the entire iTunes library from the old PowerBook onto a DVD data disc. I have it in two forms, the songs and videos themselves burned by iTunes, and the entire iTunes library from my music folder, burned by the finder. When I use migration when I get the new iMac, I want that iTunes to be the one I sync the iPod with, not the old PowerBook or the Core Duo iMac. There are only 3 songs in my iTunes library that I purchased from iTunes. I don't think it's a big deal, after Migration, to turn on "Home Sharing" and adding the couple of purchased songs to the library on the new iMac. A lot of the songs on the PowerBook came from the core duo iMac. So there's probably no a lot to copy.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean't by the iTunes backup file. Which file in the iTunes library is that?
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • IPod Nano won't sync with iTunes on new laptop

When I first got my new laptop about a month ago I did the 'homesharing' technique to be able to use my iTunes on it, it worked successfully up until I tried to purchase new music from the iTunes Store & upload music into my Library from my laptop.. It just wouldn't sync onto my Nano! Every time I clicked the Sync tab nothing would happen even though the music had all been purchased/uploaded perfectly fine. I had ofcourse made sure my iTunes was 'activated' onto my new laptop, etc etc & when I went onto my old laptop to try it on there all the music DID sync onto my Nano.
Since then I've re-installed iTunes several times even copied my full iTunes folder onto an external USB stick & transferred it that way & still my Nano will not sync with my iTunes! The new iTunes isn't helping much either as I find it quite confusing to work out as it's totally different. But yeah even with the new iTunes upgrade my Nano still won't sync.
I'm at a loss, I've no idea what the problem is! Can anyone help?

  • IPod Touch will not sync with iTunes on new computer

I recently got a new computer (Dell to HP, which shouldn't make any difference). I downloaded iTunes on the new computer and was able to get all my music, tv shows, and movies onto my new computer using a Flash Drive.
I have contacted iTunes help twice now and they have basically given me nothing to work with. I have all the updated software (2.2.1 or so), and I have restore my iPod Touch about 3 times because I was told this would work.
When I try to sync my iPod Touch, it tells me that it could not sync because certain songs "could not be found". I have every single one of my purchases and stuff from CDs on my iTunes and I just want this fixed so I can use my iPod Touch again.
My iPod is now empty except for a few applications and pictures that, for some reason, were able to get past all that and can be synced. If anyone has had this problem, please please please help me. I am getting very close to ripping my hair out with frustration and/or throwing my iPod Touch out of the window.

unless you do TWO (and I mean BOTH) things... 1) put the audio files in the same path as on the old laptop... and 2) copied over (or exported) library info, you will have to do something else... and all it is, is to tell the itunes to "add folder".
Once you add the folder, just consolidate it.
When I bought my new laptop, I had copied my music library and the extra account information. I restored the account info, but put my music in a different location (on a completely separate drive, which has saved me a few times since). So I had to change the preferences to point to the correct location, and it picked up ALL the songs.
I've since done a recovery on my new laptop a few times... and unfortunately I didn't save a copy of the account info (my old laptop has "glitched" out since, and I have no access to that info either). So even though my music is still there, I have to tell iTunes to "add folder", even though I changed the preferences to use that same folder as its library.

  • My iPod will not sync to iTunes on new Macbook

My macbook air will not sync to my iPod classic. It detects my iPod, but that's it! I would like my iPod to sync to edited iTunes. i just got this macbook and ditched my pc. I successfully transferred all my music to new Mac, now it's my iPod's turn.

I'm not sure which one i did. But, what i can tell you is: I clicked, dragged and dropped my music folder from my old hard drive to my iTunes on my new Mac.
    Which Music folder?
    /User//Music/ folder?
    Or /Music//iTunes/iTunes media/Music?
On the new computer, delete /Music/iTunes/ folder.
Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.
    Open iTunes.
This is all you need to do.
