Sync iphone to macbook

I just got a brand new MacBook. I am trying to sync all the information I have in my Iphone, I open Itunes, plug the phone to the computer, from the Itunes screen I click sync and doesn't transfer the information I have in my Iphone to the MacBook.
What am I doing wrong? What should I do to transfer all the information so I can have a back up?

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • Syncing IPhone and Macbook Mail To Do List

Does anyone have a way to sync IPhone and Mail To Do List?

unless you delete your to dos then once checked they will still appear in the to do list alongside the incomplete ones.
one work around is to create smart mailboxes, one for your completed to dos, and one for your the others. to create a smart mailbox, go to mailbox>create smart mailbox, then for the rule, select to dos and then select to dos are complete, to dos are incomplete. once these smart mailboxes are created you can then view your to dos with less cluter.
    hope this helps

  • Sync iPhone to MacBook Pro

I recently bought an iPhone 5s and have been trying to sync it via bluetooth to my MacBook Pro but it refuses to do so..  My mac is running OS 10.6.8 and I suspect that is why I can't connect with the new iPhone that runs a newer OS.  Can you advise?

If you update your OS to Lion or later (Mavericks is free if you meet the rquirements) then you can use iCloud.
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space

  • Old iMac fragged, want to sync iPhone to MacBook

My iMac's motherboard died. Shouldn't have happened, score one for corporate planned obsolescence, etc. Now I'm using my MacBook as my main computer. What files from what directories do I need to transfer from the old machine to allow my phone to sync to the new machine? Thanks to all for any advice you can offer.
    --jody.

I assume you can still connect to your iMac's hard disk.
Drag the entire iTunes folder from your iMac's ~/Music folder to the same place on your Macbook.
Also, drag the Mobile Sync folder from ~/Library/Application Support to your macbook's ~/Library/Application Support folder. That folder contains your iPhone backups.

  • Random photos missing when I sync iPhone to MacBook Pro

I have had this issue for at least the last few months: when I sync my iPhone 5 with my MacBook Pro in order to import all the photos I have recently taken on my phone into iPhoto, only a portion of the photos I have recently taken are available to import.
Right now I have 160 new photos on my camera roll. When I plugged it in 20 mins ago, iPhoto offers me to 'import 45 photos'. I unplugged it and plugged it in again. Now it's only asking if I want to import 21 photos. I've tried turning it off and on again.
All photos appear in my photo stream, but only a portion will import as a new event. It's very boring because I don't want to have to go through photo stream to find my photos, I'd much prefer them to come through as events that I can now sort.
I am using iPhoto version 9.6, and my iPhone 5 is on version 8.1.3
I cannot find a solution to this on the internet, I'm really hoping someone out there can help!

The first test indicates that the original library is the culprit and needs to be repaired. Do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.
Redo the second test and see if you can upload all photos to a folder on then Desktop first.  If that's successful you can import them into the library.  iPhoto should detect any duplicates
    and prevent their import.

  • Not able to sync iPhone, iPad, Macbook Pro

I have followed all the inforamtion that Apple has to do with syncing the ipad, iphone, Macbook Pro, but they don't seem to read each other by wi-fi. All of them work just fine on their own but not together. The ipad does sync somethings such as contacts, email etc. with my iphone but I cannot get them to share photos or videos I have taken.
I have iphone 4s using the current OS updated
I have iPad 2 using the current updated OS
I have a Macbook Pro 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 OS 10.9 Maverick all been updated
I have enabled photo stream on all. Any ideas what may be wrong?
    Thanks- Todd

All devices are on wifi and it has been several days since I took the photos/videos I want to share. I have done everything the way Apple says but the photos/videos are not sharing. I'm guessing I overlooked something... Not sure what.

  • Question: best path to sync iPhone with MacBook (Entourage or Mail)

    OK-
Have been putting this off for some time. I have an iPhone that I used to sync with my WinXP laptop. I replaced the laptop with a new MacBook Pro and need to do (2) things:
1.) Migrate my contacts over to the MacBook
    2.) Determine my long-term contact/calendar/etc. sync plan
1.) Migrate: are there any good tips/threads out there for how to do this? Since my iPhone is the only place these reside currently and iTunes wants to bi-directional sync when I first connect... I'm nervous about this! What's the best way to make sure I can successfully get my contacts onto my Mac from the iPhone without losing them?
2.) Syncing: I'm currently using Entourage:Mac 2008. I've read thread after thread about problems syncing between iPhone and Entourage... I understand it to be primarily because of reliance on Address Book and iCal as intermediaries, correct? I wish I could say I could switch to those but the integration of Entourage with calendar, contacts, tasks, etc. is just too useful for my work.
So - any suggestions, pointers, even added utilities, that will help me set this up to work reliably would be much appreciated.
Also - one thought has been to use Google Apps to sync mail, contacts, and calendar. However, I'm not a fan of how GMail accepts every email address as a contact...
At any rate, I'm looking for pointers on any of these fronts. Any guidance would be great!
    Thanks,
    - JBro

I suggest using Apple's Address Book application for storing contact information. If you decide to use Entourage for email account access, contact information, and calendar events, Entourage syncs with Apple's Address Book application and with iCal for contact information and calendar events which syncs with the iPhone.
Before syncing, enter one contact in the Address Book application and one calendar event in iCal. Make these up if needed which can be deleted later. This should provide a merge prompt which you want to select. This will transfer all contact information and calendar events from your iPhone to the Address Book and iCal.
2.) Syncing: I'm currently using Entourage:Mac 2008. I've read thread after thread about problems syncing between iPhone and Entourage... There can be problems with this, which relies on a sync services feature included with Entourage that syncs Entourage contact information and calendar events with the Address Book and iCal, which are used for syncing with your iPhone. So there is an additional step and sync function when using Entourage.
If you haven't transferred your iTunes library from your PC to your Mac, you should do so. iTunes includes an option to transfer content that was purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased from the iTunes Store only. Before syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
For all other iTunes content on your PC that was not purchased from the iTunes Store, you need to transfer this content from your PC to your Mac.

  • Syncing iPhone to MacBook

I just replaced my wife's Windows PC with a MacBook and I cannot get the calendars to sync right. iCal shows "Home" & "Work" calendars, but on the iPhone there is one called "Calendar" too. The one called "Calendar" is the one that has all my wife's appointments on it, how can I get it to show up in iCal?
    Thanks

Which iPhone do you have? What model of MacBook are you using? What version of the Mac operating system is it running? What version of iTunes do you have?
If you look in the System Profiler (by going to the Apple menu > About This Mac > More Info...) and click the System Report... button, then go to Hardware and to USB, do you see the iPhone listed here?
Let us know, we'll keep working with you.
    Best of luck.
