Sync iphone to yahoo

Getting ready to fire up a new iPhone 4S and am trying to ensure that it will sync seamlessly with Yahoo (contacts, calendars, email, etc.)
Especially need to ensure that If I receive and view email from my Yahoo account on my phone, that if I delete the messages from my phone, they will also be deleted on the Yahoo server.
Trying to determine if I need to abandon Yahoo in favor of Gmail or an Apple email account, or if Yahoo plays well enough with Apple that I can keep the Yahoo account I've had for years and still get efficient email handling and syncing of contacts.
Thank you!

hey i just got an iphone for my girl yesterday. we managed to sync everything from yahoo just fine. but we also had to edit almost all contacts(@ 220 of them). we have not synced the phone with the computer yet.
my question to you is this, when you synced the second time around, did your contacts get erased or edited back to what yahoo had? i'm just cuirious and i'm also curious to know the answer to your question as well.
thank you.

  • Sync iphone with yahoo calendars

I use yahoo mail along with yahoo calendars. The new iphone allowes me to since with the mail, but only gives me an option to sync with outlook for calendars.
Is there a way to do this?

You can synch yahoo calendar to your iphone if you have an iMac and Yahoo Calendar Beta. First log into your yahoo calendar, then search for yahoo calendar beta, then switch to the beta calendar (be warned, if you switch any calendar entries made in beta will be lost if you go back to classic calendar). Then go to iMac open iCal and add a new calendar. Add yahoo calendar (instructions can be found by searching support for the yahoo calendar beta url). It's not real time, but it does get your events to your iphone.

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to move everything to your new computer.

  • IPhone with Yahoo contact sync: "unknown error (4)"

When I try to sync with my iPhone, I get "itunes could not sync with yahoo address book because an unknown error occurred (4)". This has happened consistently for about a month. I have an iPhone 3GS, with iOS 4.2.1, and iTunes 10.1.1, running on Windows XP (SP3).
I have tried reinstalling all Apple software by following directions in http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923. This does not resolve the problem. I have also tried reseting the iPhone and using various options in iTunes such as Info > Advanced > Replace information on this iPhone. Also, I just had my iPhone replaced due to hardware reasons, so this is a brand new phone (but restored from my old backup) and still has the same issues.
I have seen a similar post of this error from 3 years ago stating that although the error occurs, sync still happens. In my case I can't say sync is happening. Most changes I make I do not see reflected (either changes in Yahoo or iPhone don't sync to one another), however in on case a contact I made in my Yahoo address book did sync to my iPhone. Later I deleted it from Yahoo, and the contact then did NOT get deleted from the iPhone after a sync. So, needless to say, if sync is working it is extremely inconsistent.
    Anyone else having this issue?

This must be a very common error that I would expect Apple to reply to. I too and getting the exact issue as Tomes...when I sync my iPhone to yahoo contacts, I get "itunes could not sync with yahoo address book because an unknown error occurred (4)". This has happened consistently for about a month. I also have an iPhone 3GS, with iOS 4.2.1, and iTunes 10.1.1.4, running on Windows XP (SP3).
I have done exhausted tests and I can confirm....1) It is NOT a connectivity issue since my yahoo contact do get synced on my iPhone but MY iPHONE CONTACTS DO NOT GET UPDATED ON MY YAHOO CONTACTS!!! This is a MAJOR problem since I mostly add new contacts to my iPhone. 2)When I do change an existing contact on my iPhone, during the sync it will ask me to review and chose which of the two to use...However, if I choose the iPhone change it does not update the Yahoo contact.....so again it is connecting to Yahoo but there is a bug that can absolutely be replicated.
Can someone from Apple look into this? I have seen so many posts on this but no answers. (Also, I get the same error on my iPad!!!! when syncing contacts).

  • Possible to sync iphone calendar to yahoo calendar?

I am wanting to sync between yahoo and iphone calendar. I don't have 3g phone, still stuck with old one (purchased November 2007). I have synced all contacts but would like to work between both calendars. any suggestions?

I agree. I mean, if it syncs to Yahoo contacts, it should sync to Yahoo Calendar. I don't even use Yahoo, but I tried their Outlook syncing tool, and it seemed like a good way to keep my home Outlook (which is iPhone incompatible 2000), work Outlook, and iPhone all in sync. I was just going to sync everything via Yahoo. Then I realized iPhone only syncs with contacts, but not calendar. Bummer. In addition, iTunes/iPhone doesn't seem to recognize the Yahoo contact groups.

  • One Computer, two iphones and syncing to two yahoo address books - problem

    Hi all,
Before upgrading to itunes 7.7.1.11 (at least I think the upgrade caused the problem) I could associate my wife's iphone to her yahoo contact list and my iphone to my yahoo contact list. So when her phone was connected it would sync to her yahoo account and when mine was connected it would sync to my yahoo account.
Now what happens is that the last yahoo account 'configured' is what gets synced, regardless of phone. For example, I just set up my yahoo contacts in itunes and sync - great, evertyhing works.
Now, when I connect my wife's phone it will sync with my contact list - unless I go into the info tab and click the 'configure' button and change the yahoo account to hers (it automatically shows my account now. It used to show hers).
If I do this, then her phone syncs to her contacts fine. However, now when I connect my phone, the yahoo address book is set to configure with my wife's account, until I change it to mine - you get the idea of the pattern here.
Changing it isn't a big deal, but forgetting just once, really buggers things up.
This never used to happen - anyone experiencing this? Any thoughts to remedy?
    Thanks.

You're not alone. We want one phone to get Outlook contacts and the other to get Yahoo. Simple, right? Each phone gets its own playlists, so why not its own contacts? Because Apple doesn't work that way. "One sync provider per iTunes account" is how the popup box puts it. But only when it comes to contacts. Thank goodness they don't carry this nonsense over to music and video syncing.
Amazing that Apple didn't anticipate this problem. Mom and Dad and Junior want to be on the same account so the family's iTunes purchases are shared, but of course they don't want the same contacts on their phones.
I had posted the problem here:

the email sent from macbook do not appear in my iphone and yahoo account

thanks for your help... I was feeling frustrated because the sync problem, but with your suggestion all contacts are now on my iPhone. _Thanks once again_.
I think that I was asking two different questions at the same time, because the problem with the iPhone synchronization was solved, but the .Mac Address Book still has no new contacts... just the contacts before the Mac OS X update to Leopard. I guess that I will need to look for help in other discussion topic.

  • Sync iPhone 5 contacts to iCloud and/or MacBook Pro

I've been trying to sync my iPhone 5 contacts with iCloud, but nothing works.  I have manually backed up my phone both to iCloud and to my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.9.2) but my contacts still haven't appeared in the cloud.  Help is appreciated!

It's probably because your contacts do not belong to the iCloud account.
Open the contacts app on your phone and tap Groups.  Do you have any non-iCloud accounts listed, such as On My iPhone, Gmail, Yahoo or an exchange account?
Also go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section).  Do you have the Default Account setting there, and if so, what is selected as your default account?

  • Sync problem with Yahoo! Address Book

In iTunes I selected the option to have my iPhone contacts list synced with my Yahoo! Address Book. I have added some contacts directly into my iPhone. When I then subsequently sync'ed my iPhone with iTunes, those contacts disappeared I added through my iPhone disappeared. But if I add the contacts online in my Yahoo! Address book, those contacts sync fine with my iPhone. How do I get my iPhone to sync properly with my Yahoo! Address book?

I ahve the same problem, I had to re-intall the OS on my phone and since then both of my Rogers email account are refusing to let me access the CARDDAV.
When I try to add the CARDDAV I get the following error : At This Time Your Contacts Account Can`t Be Added. Please Try Again Later
I have been trying daily for the past two weeks with no success, and the same thing is happening on the PlayBook (I tried to change the password on the accounts to see if it would solve the problem)

  • Can't sync contacts with yahoo account (and I do have internet connection!)

When I sync my iPhone 4 with my computer, it says it can't sync with my Yahoo account (as it has been for the past year) because I don't have an internet connection. I have wireless interent connection and I've checked everything - it's hooked up and I've tried to close out programs, restart etc. I have the latest iTunes version on my computer. Thank you for your help in advance...

OK, sounds like you are using Yahoo to store your contacts.  If you're having a problem with this, it is highly likely it is on Yahoo's end since they often have server issues, but two things you can try:
If you're currently on wi-fi, turn that off and see if you can access your contacts via 3G.
Try deleting the Yahoo account off your iPhone and re-create it.
Last week my Yahoo account was acting buggy and didn't get resolved until I did both (turned off wi-fi, then deleted and re-created the account over 3G).

  • How do I get voice memos from an un-synced iPhone onto a MacBookPro?

How do I get voice memos from an un-synced iPhone onto a MacBookPro?
Problem: when I click Sync I get a warning stating "Are you sure you want to sync music? All existing songs and playlists on the iPhone “Jarrod Vassallo’s iPhone” will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library."
I don't care if the iPhone syncs with the laptop (and the music is lost), I just cannot afford to lose the Voice Memos too as they are very important. Any suggestions?

To follow this user tip using iTunes 11, fist go to View>Show Sidebar.  Also, Transfer Purchases (step 5) is now in File>Devices.
If they're too large to email and you don't want to sync, the only other option is to use 3rd party software to transfer them using usb, such as PhoneView (Mac only) or Touch Copy (PC or Mac).
