Sync Iphone w/ Imac Email

I just got my new iphone and have correctly set up the mail account. I am receiving, sending, editing, etc. emails on both the imac and iphone, but when i delete messages on either device, the other will not update. I have to manually delete messages from each device. Am I doing something wrong? or can someone help. I am using optimum online as my service provider for the email. It is the local cable company email account and not aol, gmail, etc. Thanks for your help in advance.

The iPhone is not a Blackberry and different from a Blackberry, the iPhone's mail client connects direct with the incoming mail server for an email account - no different from the email client used on your computer for accessing an email account. You can't keep mailboxes and messages for a POP account synchronized with the server when accessing a POP account with an email client on another computer and the iPhone's mail client is no different in this regard. With a Blackberry, all email accounts are accessed thru RIMM's dedicated email delivery server/service, not direct with the incoming mail server for an email account.

  • Have synced iPhone to iMac but cannot see any Contacts on  iMac

Am new to iMac. Have managed to sync iPhone to iMac. But when I then open iMac Contacts, cannot see any.

Thanks, but I don't and won't use the Cloud. When I bought the iMac I thought I could use it with the iPhone 4S. Now I find that I am expected to hand over a lot of confidential information to the Cloud, if I just want to copy my iPhone Contacts to my iMac Contacts.
Why does Apple want to put such a condition on what is a normal basic principle, of having a copy of my Contacts file ?

  • Problem Syncing iPhone with iMac

    Hello,
My iPhone has been working and syncing (with new iMac) just fine - until tonight. I plug in iPhone. It shows up in iTunes. I have Automatic sync checked. But, within less than a minute, I receive this error message:
"iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone [name] because the iPhone disconnected"
I also get same error message when I click "Sync" button in lower right of iTunes window. Obviously, I did not disconnect the phone as the error message alleges.
I have rebooted computer. I have recycled iPhone (top right switch off, then on). I have changed iPhone cord plugged in back of iMac screen. I have ejected iPhone, removed plug and reestablished connection.
I need to sync my contacts from iMac Address Book. Can someone please identify the problem and solution?
    Thank you,
    Dale
Note: The iPhone was updated several days ago to 1.1.3. Syncs have taken place successfully SINCE the upgrade prior to tonight.

With your iPhone connected and available with iTunes, under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences under replace information on this phone, select Contacts and then sync. This will replace all contact information on your iPhone with what is available in the Address Book application.

  • Syncing iphone w imac

I have an iphone 4, but videos i take do not automatically sync with my imac.  I have the cloud turned on both.

The iCloud Photo Stream includes photos only and is temporary. Up to 1000 photos and 30 days.
As already provided, you need to import the videos from your iPhone's Camera Roll as with any other digital camera. If you are using iPhoto in conjunction with your Photo Stream and for photo storage and management on your Mac, use iPhoto for this. When you launch iPhoto with your iPhone connected, your iPhone will be selected under Devices in the iPhoto source list for selecting the items you want to import. After the import process is complete, you are prompted to delete what was just imported from the iPhone's Camera Roll if wanted or needed.
Have you never imported photos/videos from any digital camera with your computer?

  • Syncing iphone and iMac?

I am having trouble syncing my devices through icloud.  When i make changes to my calendar or contacts on my iphone it will not appear on my imac, even when i directly hook up my phone through itunes.  Any suggestions?  Could it be that i only have version 10.5.8 on my imac, and need to have a newer version to be able to acess this feature?

    Lion (OS 10.7) is required.

  • When syncing iPhone to iMac, how do I make iMac the boss?

I sync my iPhone to my iMac via the dock/usb cable. I have a question specifically regarding the syncing of Podcasts.
I manange my Podcast inventory in iTunes on my iMac. Once I get everyting the way I want it, I sync my iPhone to my iMac.
The problem I'm having is that the Podcasts inventory on my iMac is not transfering acurately to my iPhone. i.e., additions on my iMac aren't being aded to my iPhone and deletions aren't deleted.
Basically, I want the iMac to be the 'boss' and I want the podcasts on my iPhone to match those on my iMac after syncing. How do I do that?
    Many thanks.

Agree but annoyed that the IPhone syncs just about everything automatically except photo in camera roll. I just use windows explorer to copy and paste the photo files to my PC subdirectory. IPhone does sync photos from a chosen pc subdirectory to your Iphone. Strange they go only one way when "syncing" to me means maintaining both devices with the same files. Oh well, maybe the next OS will do it.

  • Synced iPhone to iMac now apps don't work

I synced my iPhone to my iMac today.
    I don't know what happened.
Apps that were working no longer work.
    Software was updated.
When I tap an app, the screen sort of blinks, then nothing.  I cannot access the apps.
    Can anyone help, please?

Make sure your iMac is authorized for the Apple ID you used to purchase these apps (in iTunes under Store>Authorize this computer).  If not, they won't work on your phone.

  • How to sync iphone to imac

I just bought a new imac and I can't get my iphone to sync up. It keeps telling me to update my itune software to 10.5 or new. I already updated it, three times in the last half hour. I even reset my phone and tried again. After I downloaded the latest software, I even restarted my computer, but futile. The same message keeps popping up.
    What is my next step?
    Chao

If you haven't already, go to the iTunes download webpage and click the Download Now button.

No it is not. Bluetooth is not supported on the iPhone for anything except Voice Calls.

  • Sync iPhone with iMac keyboard's USB

Because of short USB inputs on my iMac 21.5" Intel with Lion OS X 10.7.3 ver,
Can I connect my iPhone 4 to the Keyboard's USB input for syncing ?
    Thanks

You don't sync to get photos off your phone, iTunes has nothing to do with this. You import them, just like any digital camera. Read here:

  • Can't Sync iPhone from iMac

Lately, every time I try to connect to iTunes to sync my podcast playlist to my iPhone, I get these.
The problem is easily remedied by restarting the iMac but I shouldn't have to go through the
restart process just so my iPhone gets recognized. I used to have this problem occasionally
in the past but now I don't get a sync unless I restart the iMac. Is there any help for this?
    Cheers
    John

I forgot to mention that when the phone is hooked up to the Mac
the phone shows up as being connected in
    Image Capture
    iPhoto
but not in iTunes. So what gives?
    Cheers,  John

  • Syncing iPhone to iMac after hard drive restore

My hard drive died very s l o w l y over the last couple of weeks.
I was very careful during this time not to delete any data from the phone (for example, I imported pictures to iPhoto, but did not delete them from the phone) as I just didn't feel terribly confident about my hardware.
I was beginning to feel a little better about things the night before the hard drive finally died (everyone had been saying, it's software it's software it's software), so one of the things I did was buy an album on iTunes after doing a full backup to Time Machine (I'd erased and restored my system the day before, so TM wanted to do a complete backup).  I wanted to see if TM would pick up the incremental change.  I also synced my iPhone after doing this and it updated the iOS, synced a few notes I'd made.
Then, hard drive dies, is replaced, and for a number of reasons, I opted to restore my data from a backup that I'd taken and archived before things started behaving so erratically.  This means that I have some data on my iPhone - notes, that one album (my Purchased playlist syncs to my phone), iOS, which is newer than what the iTunes that I restored can recall - it seems to have a profile for my phone from late June, the last sync it remembers.
I'm just wondering a couple of things:
Am I in for some kind of almighty weird surprise when I plug my phone into my computer? Am I going to be presented with all kinds of options for erasing my phone, or worse, effing up my iTunes? Am I correct in thinking I should let my first TM backup of THIS hard drive complete before I attempt this?
Will I be pleasantly surprised to find that it will just move that one album to my iTunes? If it doesn't, is there any way I can move it manually from my phone to my iTunes? I wrote to iTunes Store customer support to ask if they could make the album available for download again, and it's been more than 24 hours and no response - not sure if they don't like my question.
    Am I just worrying unnecessarily?

I went ahead and and changed the music file location, consolidated the library. That went ok. Tried a test adding an artist's folder from the external drive that I know had a new album in it but just a few other albums. Ended up with duplicate entries for the previously existing albums. Bah! I think I have 3 choices here: 1) add all the new stuff to the itunes library manually (but remember there have been hundreds of changes since January..the music files are > 80 gb total. 2) add to library selecting the main folder (which appears that it will then add thousands of duplicate items to the database list in addition to the hundreds of new items). 3) forget about trying to preserve ratings/playcounts etc and wipe the database and rebuild it from the external drive.
Is there a way to rebuild the database and preserve the existing ratings/playcounts?

  • Iphone and imac email

As a group leader in an organization I send and receive emails from various people
within my organization. They are mostly PC users and I have no problems with email send
and receive EXCEPT one.  There is one PC user that I can send but NOT receive his reports via
    email.
To further complicate matters every one else in the organization (a lot of iphone users) send and
receive everything (including attachments) from the guy (I can't get reports from).
Am I doing something wrong ? are his emails to me residing somewhere on my computer that
I am overlooking. I need some help.

  • I cant sync my iphone calendar with my iMac.  It worked fine until two weeks ago.  I don't use iCloud, just direct connect from iphone to iMac.  any ideas?

cant sync iphone with imac - don't use icloud just direct connect - worked fine until a couple of weeks ago.  Any ideas?

    1. Apple has removed sync services in OS X Mavericks. Therefore, you cannot sync Outlook 2011 with Contacts or Calendar.
    2. Apple has removed the ability to sync through iTunes in OS X Mavericks, so that, even if you use Contacts and Calendar on the Mac, you can only sync them with your iPhone through iCloud, thus exposing all your contacts and calendar information to the mercies of the Web.
    3. Microsoft does not not support CalDAV and CardDAV in Outlook, so there is no way to sync directly through iCloud, except perhaps by setting up a Microsoft Exchange account.
    4. Apple makes it extremely difficult (virtually impossible) to revert to a version of OSX that is earlier than OS X Mavericks once Mavericks is installed.
In short, we are screwed and neither company seems to care.
