Sync ipod help on another computer

hi i tried to deleted my itunes from my other computer but when i tried to sync my songs on to my ipod it says i can't because it is on another computer or somthing like that so how do i sync it on my other computer please help

No backup is a bad mistake.
You can transfer itunes purchases from the ipod.  Without syncing:  File>transfer Purchases
You can e-mail photos to yourself.
If you enter one unique contact and calendar entry in the computer, then you should get the option to merge the data when you first sync.

  • I orginally sync my Ipad with another computer, now I want to sync with another computer

I originally synced my Ipad with another computer, now I want to sync with anohter computer, I don't want to erase my Ipad and sync with my Ipod.

This is an extract from one of our senior participant; hope he doesn't mind me reproducing it here
    Syncing with new computer
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.

  • Uploading (sync) selected music from another computer?

How do you upload (sync) selected music from another computer?

If you want to use more than one computer with your iPod, then I would suggest using "Manually manage music and video" mode. I say that because when you go to the other computer and plug it in then your iPod is going to be erased of what is currently on it, and replaced with what your other computer has on it in iTunes. In order to get to that mode I mentioned up there you load up iTunes making sure that your iPod is connected and listed in iTunes, after it is all done syncing, click on your iPod in the source list, and then click on "Manually manage music and videos". If I were you, I would do this procedure on the computer that you have already plugged your iPod into, then after the procedure, you can use the other one. You are also going to have to go through an "Authorization" procedure. In order to do that, click on "Advanced" in iTunes and then scroll down to "Authorize this computer" and then follow any directions you may see. Oh and don't forget to click "Apply" at the bottom right of iTunes. Then you should be all set to use both computers. This will make it though so you have to manually copy music to your iPod as well as manually eject your iPod from iTunes.

So you are trying to connect your iPod Shuffle to another computer you don't normally sync it with is that correct?  And it won't charge for some reason?  How are you connecting it?  To a USB or a USB port located directly on the PC?

i synced my phone to another computer to get the update and when i went to restore it, all my music was earased, but everything else was normal. how do i get my music back?
I enabled the backup, but when i went to use the backup, the phone recovered everything except the music.

Of course your music was lost - unless you uncheck sync music, you're syncing with another music library. You'll have to sync your phone with the other/original computer to the music back.

  • I re-installed Windows - Itunes says my iPod is for another computer

So I re-installed Windows XP Pro on my computer and I just installed iTunes. I also updated my iPod. I have a 4GB Ipod Nano 2nd Gen. Itunes tells me that my iPod is for another computer, obviously since I re-intalled windows. How do I make it native to this copy of Windows vs my old one? Even tho they're the same copy..

So you didn't back up your stuff before you formatted your HD?
    Bummer...
There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • How to sync ipod touch to new computer itunes library after old itunes library computer crash without wiping out "library" on ipod touch

how to sync ipod touch to new computer itunes library after old itunes library lost in computer crash, without erasing ipod touch

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • HT1329 how to sync ipod to a new computer when your old computer is dead

how to sync ipod to a new computer when your old computer is dead

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
Once you've done that, you can sync your iPod to iTunes as normal.

  • I have had my lab top stoled. I have attempted tp reinstall my iPod classic on another computer and it would sync. what might be the problem?

I have lost the original lap I set up my iPod clissic on. I have attempted to reinstall on another lap top w/ windows 7. I have lost some recent purchased itune music and the ipod won't sync new downloads. Help? Jim

James, the iPod is designed to sync with only one computer/iTunes library at a time.  So before you can start adding new content to the iPod on a different computer, you'll need to restore the iPod to factory settings.
If you have content on your iPod you would like to save to your PC first, see this post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different ways to copy media from your iPod to your PC.

  • Download/Export/Sync iPod mini to new computer without losing mini - help!

My computer crashed and burned and nothing on the hard drive was recoverable. I'd like to sync my existing mini with this new PC, which is running Windows XP Professional.
How do I do that without losing what is on my mini? I've downloaded the latest iTunes, but I don't know what to do to download the music on my iPod onto my new PC.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • I have an IPad 2. I "had" it synced to my Mac Os Laptop until my child bumped my glass of water on my laptop and destroyed my motherboard. Is there anyway that I can sync my IPad to another computer and not loose all of my apps and movies?

Is there anyway that I can sync my iPad 2 to another computer without loosing all my data and apps?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer any other music by using a thrid-party porgram like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not include synced items like apps and music.

  • Charging iPod mini from another computer

I am away from home and would like to charge my iPod on my friends computer. She is running Windows XP off of her PC.
She has told me that last time she charged her own iPod on another system it wiped her memory out. She has iTunes loaded (if this info is of any help).
I would like to make sure this does not happen to me before plugging the iPod into the coputer. Any suggestions?
    Mo

When you connect the iPod to her computer, you may see this message.
Click no, then eject the iPod but leave the iPod connected to the computer. You can do this by clicking on the little eject icon next to the iPod listing in the source window of iTunes, or right click on it and select “eject”. There is also an iPod 'eject' icon in the lower right hand corner of iTunes. Another way would be to use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject.
Now, the iPod battery should charge.

  • Using an ipod shuffle on another computer

I have an ipod shuffle with my main music library at home. My question is can I simply play the music on my shuffle on another computer's itunes without syncing? When I plug it in the only options are to sync (and loose everything) or cancel so I can't play my music.

Why would it need to play from the iTunes on the computer when it is fully loaded with songs and is charged/charging on the shuffle charging dock?
Why? Because that would require an ongoing transfer of data from the iPod to computer, which would require more complicated hardware and programming, which would increase the size and cost of producing a shuffle. If it is treated as just a known playlist, data transfer is only needed when you manually or automatically fill it. That's simple.
It tells me 0 items, 464 KB available.
That is probably outside of iTunes. The files are invisible, so it is 0 items. The files still exist, so they take up space.
Will the songs be erased from the shuffle as soon as I select 'Erase and Sync'
Yes. An iPod shuffle can only be associated with one computer at a time. If you want to get songs off of it, you need to use a third party utility (search using Google to find one) which can transfer the songs from the iPod before using iTunes to +erase and sync+.
