Sync ipod to a different computer and different itunes account

I bought my dad an ipod and put a bunch of songs from his CD's on it using my computer and bought him songs from itunes using my account. Now he wants to use itunes (his own account) to put more songs on it using his computer. When we plug it in it wants to sync it to his computer and says that everything will be erased off of his ipod. Is there anyway to add to it with out erasing the hundreds of songs I put on there already or even get the songs on the ipod onto his computer?

The following documents might be of some assistance with that:
Using iPod with multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod
Copying music between authorized computers with iTunes for Windows
Although the last document refers to purchased music, those techniques (with the exception of the reverse sync of purchases) can also be used to transfer songs that you've ripped from CDs from one PC to the other.

  • I am running 4 ipod classica through one computer and one itunes account/profile.  The ipods belong to me, husband and 2 kids.  How can the kids now get their own accounts but keep the stuff I have already downloaded for them?  They have their own laptops

I am currently running 4 ipod classics through my own account/profile on itunes.  They belong to me, my husband and 2 kids.
The kids are getting older now and have their own laptops.  I would like them to have their own itunes accounts as they will be away from home much of the time and will want to make their own puchases.
How can I set them up so that they are independent from my account, but not lose the content that I have downloaded for them over the years?  (A lot of content).

You and your husband can share a store account and still have seperate iCloud accounts for your contacts, bookmarks and stuff like that.  Click here for instructions to make an apple account without entering a credit card.  Make sure you use a different email address for each apple account.
Set up your iPhone/iPad whatever using the new account for iCloud.  Then go into settings/store and sign in with your purchasing account, you may need to sign out of the other account.  To the best of my knowledge, your household is allowed to share purchased legally, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Once you each have your own devices set to your own accounts you can set them to backup to that account and it will keep all your contacts seperate.

  • Can i sync my ipod to a different itunes account?

I have an approximately 7 year old ipod with lots of tunes. Originally it was synced to an old desktop which has been scrapped. I now have an ipad 2 and my husband has ordered the iphone4S. We want to get the tunes from our old ipod and have them on the ipad and iphone. Any advice on how to do this? I have a Windows laptop.
    Cheers,
    Caroline

  • HT204053 Can two different icloud accounts used for the same mac computer and same Itunes account still transfer photos and downloaded apps to all devices associated with that mac?

I purchased my wife an Iphone and we currently use the same icloud account, but we just ran out of storage. I'm not sure if we need so much more space that I'm ready to upgrade to 15 total GB of storage. If my wife sets up her own icloud account for her iphone will she and I still be able to share our photos, downloaded apps and music with different icloud accounts?

Apps and music aren't anything to do with your iCloud account, indeed you can use different ID's for each.
If you create and use another ID for iCloud, you will not be able to share both photostreams to the same user account on the computer.
This could be worked around with a second user account on the computer for the second user to do all their computing in. However you may find that photostreams shared albums will work around the problem for you. For example if you create a shared album and share it with your partner, any photos you add to that album will be available in your partners photostream on the computer.

  • HT2329 How do I transfer the music from my iPod touch to a new computer and new iTunes account on a PC?

I recently got a new computer and a new iTunes account. How do I transfer all of the content from my iPod Touch to my new library without it syncing and deleting everything? Thanks!

The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases
You need to copy everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
The ipod is ot a backup device.  It simply irrors the selected content of your computer.

  • How do I sync my current iPod to my new computer? (same iTunes account)

I've had my iPod touch for a few years, had it connected to my old laptop but I recently got a new laptop. I downloaded iTunes on my new computer and signed in to my account. I had some music downloaded from somewhere other than iTunes and I moved all those files to the new laptop's iTunes library; and there is also some new songs that I purchased from the iTunes store on this computer that are not on my old computer or my iPod. I tried syncing my iPod with my new laptop and it connect and I click sync and it goes through the 3 steps, yet none of the new music has transferred over. I'm not sure if there's something wrong here or if there's something I have to do. Please help!

It was just the button at the bottom that said "sync" so i clicked that and it said like step 1 backing up step 2 preparing to sync and step 3 syncing yet none of the new music synced. and i went onto the tab that says music and i clicked on the box that said sync all music but it went way down to like 700 songs when i actually have over 2000 in the library. so i canceled that and didnt go through with it because i dont want to click the wrong button and lose alot of my music

  • What can I do when iPod is connected to computer and freezes iTunes?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I plugged my iPod into my friends computer and her iTunes  synced to my iPod

I plugged my iPod. Into my friends iTunes and now I can't find my camera roll

    - Because it sounds like you restored your iPod either to factory settings/new iPod or from a backup that was on that computer.
    - You have to restore your iPod from a backup of your iPod. For how see:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If the photos are not in a backup then
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

  • I have a new computer and downloaded iTunes and signed in to my account but my iPod touch says it's synced to a different  account?

I have a new computer and downloaded iTunes and signed in to my account but my iPod tuoch says its synced to a different account?

Edit > Preferences > Store check Music under Automatic Downloads.
Open the iTunes Store from left hand column, then select Purchasedfrom the column on the right, click the Not In My Library button and select the tunes you want to download again.
That said, you seem to be under a misapprehension as to how iTunes works, or at least how it has worked in the past. It has, until recently, been up to you take care of your purchases once they have been downloaded. You had a one-time download which you were reminded to back up. With the recent change to this policy you can at least download your store purchases again, but having a personal backup of your iTunes store purchases, stuff purchased elsewhere and files ripped from your CDs will still be preferable to gathering all the stuff together again in the event of a disaster.
For a backup strategy see this User Tip.

  • I have a used mac computer. I want to sync and update my iphone. Currently itunes tells me that my iphone is connected to a different itunes account. How do I make itunes sync and update my phone without deleting all the current information on my phone?

I have a used mac computer. I want to sync and update my iphone. Currently itunes tells me that my iphone is connected to a different itunes account and will sync, but delete everything from my phone. How do I make itunes sync and update my phone without deleting all the current information on my phone?

Iphone will sync with one and only one cpomptuer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.  This is the design of the  iphone.
It will erase the content when you sync.
Why not update from the comptuer with which you normally sync?

Adding media directly to the media folder does not make it appear in the library.  iTunes doesn't really 'look' at that folder except to go to specific files when you call upon them from a library. You have to drag new content to each user's library, that is assuming each user has their own library.

    Hi nprguy,
It sounds like an earlier version of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software installed on your PC may be conflicting with this installation.
I would advise uninstalling both versions of the BlackBerry Desktop Software then reinstalling the latest version.
The following KB articles should provide more information on the issue.
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" when uninstalling BlackBerry Desktop Manager www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10220
"Error 1316" InstallShield error is encountered when uninstalling or upgrading the BlackBerry Desktop Software

    Thanks.
