Sync Ipod to new Windows 8 PC?

I have an older ipod 8GM full of my music.  I haven't used it in a while.  My old computer crashed and I could not remember my old apple id and password so I set up a new account.  I have a new computer now and want to know if I can sync the music contained on my old ipod to my new apple account and computer.  My new computer uses Windows 8.  Any advice?  I have been trying to figure this out with no luck.

Hello Joyce,
Congratulations on your new computer.  To be able to sync your iPod with a separate computer, you will need enable Manual Mode:
If you want to keep the music library on your device, but copy songs or playlists from the music library on the second computer, click Cancel when the dialog box appears, and then set your device to manual mode.
When in manual mode, to add songs or playlists, drag them from iTunes to the device icon in the sidebar. To remove songs or playlists, select them on the device in iTunes and press the delete key. You can also create playlists directly on the device.
You can find all the steps under the section titled "Manual Mode" in the following article:

  • I synced ipod to itunes (windows), it removed all my single purchased songs. I can see the songs in itunes, but they are gray

I synced ipod to itunes (windows), itunes removed all my single purchased songs from my iphone. I can see the songs in itunes, but they are gray and I can't move them back to my iphone or to any other device.  I can't play them on the computer in itunes, I can't move them back to my iphone (where original purchase was made), and I can't move them into another ipod.

I had the Itunes store do this to one song out of three I downloaded. I went back to the Itunes store and reclicked on the song to download it again. It ran the download again and got the complete song this second time. Then I just resynced with my Itunes and all is fixed.

  • HT201745 There is no support in the website of apple ( a famous company for namesake) for resolving the problems arising out of latest version of itunes.   I find no button for sync in the new window of itunes then how can I sync music to my ipod classic.

    Sir,
On the hope that latest version of itunes will work more for me, I downloaded the itunes version 12 recently.  But to my surprise the sync button is not there even if I connect the ipod ( classic iOS 1.3 version).  My ipod serial No.is  8L730BL1V9M and it is ipod classic with buttonwheel.  I am having 32bit Windows vista home premium and using DELL system.  How I can find sync button and for your information, the itunes player window shows every song I have in the library and I cannot sync the songs to my ipod.  Hitherto there was no such problem for playing and copying songs from and to my ipod.  What is the remedy ? please tell if anybody knows.

    Hello ramaraoananthapadmanabhan,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with the new version of iTunes. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what you are seeing in iTunes when you have your iPod classic connected. If you are having issues setting up syncing to your iPod in the new version of iTunes, you may find the information and steps outlined in the following articles helpful:

  • When trying to sync ipod to new computer

Hello I have been trying to sync my ipod to a new computer, I found this disk method very useful
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
Now the music from my ipod is transferred to my itunes, under my music, which I m really happy about, but it is faded out, and when I try and sync, it still gives me the message "the itunes libary is synced with another itunes library.Do I want to erase and and replace with existing playlists"
Any ideas ? As I dont want to loose all of my music !!!
    Thanks

  • Daren't sync iPhone to new Windows install. HELP

My old Windows installation was recently plagued by a virus, and as such I had to back everything up, and re-install. I've retrieved all my music off of my iPod Classic, no problems there. Set the iPod to manual, no stupid iTunes wiping.
I also have a first gen iPhone, running 2.1, synced with the old library and not this one. I daren't plug it in due to fear of having it wiped, which would be disastrous as it's the only copy of all my contacts. Photos and music I can re-sync by hand happily. But somebody please tell me it won't wipe all of my contacts, predictive text, text history, apps etc. Is there any way of making it a manual device like the iPod, and only change what I WANT to change?
Help needed, Thank You in advance.

Oh believe me I'd LOVE a Mac. I'd use Linux if I could, but with the iPod and iPhone I need iTunes. My brother has a MacBook, excellent piece of kit. Mac's my favourite OS, stable and pretty. But I've recently bought a crap load of Photo equipment so I have no real money left lol.
I'd have done an iTunes backup, but I couldn't actually open iTunes. I got all my Photos off the old pc, so that's fine. I just accept a Windows install won't last me that long at any one time. It's a sad fact of life.
I think what I'll do is just manually enter my contacts into Outlook, and then just sync with this library, as long as I have my contacts I'm not fussed, the music needs sorting through on it anyway.
It will work if I put my contacts into Outlook and then sync with this new install won't it?

  • Sync ipod Touch with Windows Live Mail

Is there a way to Sync Ipod touch's information (calendars, contacts and such) with the new Windows Live Mail through Itune 8?

    No.
Windows Live Mail stores contacts and calendar info in a database format in file with an extension of *.edb. iTunes syncs with Outlook data stored in a *.pst file.

  • Syncing IPod to new ITunes account

The computer I had my ITunes account on crashed and I am unable to get anything off of it. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I recently synced my IPod so do have all of my songs on it.
Is there away to download ITunes onto a new computer and transfer all of my songs to it? I have tried numerous different ways but the only songs I can transfer are my purchased songs. Can anyone help or is this a lost cause?

The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible - Windows version only)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • ITunes displays -48 error message when syncing iPod Nano on Windows XP

My girlfriend's mom's iPod Nano ran out of charge while jogging so she decided to charge it on her daughter's iHome. The next day she went to use her iPod but it was totally empty of all music and files. When she tried to sync it to iTunes, she received an eror message stating, "An unknown error has occurred (-48)" from iTunes and a Windows message stating that some iPod folder/file was corrupted.
If anyone receives such a message, I was able to correct it by:
-Plugging in your iPod to your PC
    -Ignore the error messages
    -Go to My Computer
-Find your iPod's drive letter (ie. G:)
-Right-click on it and select Properties
-Go to Tools Tab >Error-checking and select Check Now
You should be able to sync your iPod as before. I do not claim to be an expert so be warned that it may not work for you. Good luck!

    Hey ermides,
Thanks for the question. The following resource provides information if you are receiving a -50 error message when syncing:

  • Why did they remove the "open iPod in new window" option in 7.5???

I used to be able to open my iPod Shuffle contents in a new window, which made it really easy to drop specific songs into the exact order I wanted. Now I can't open a second window and have to drag an entire playlist exactly where I want it and then move the unwanted songs or move a specific song ontop of the iPod icon and then have to go and pull it from the bottom and place where I want it on the Shuffle. I know this sounds petty and I can still get the songs/order on my Shuffle, but it's so much clunkier than it use to be. I hate when an upgrade "removes" functionality instead of enhancing it.

Well I can get another Window as follows:
Click on the little triangle to the left of the iPod symbol to open up the iPod's playlists.
Double click on Music and another window opens. I see you are using a Mac, but i guess it must be the same.

  • Error in syncing Ipod Nano with windows XP

Some of the songs get loaded to the Ipod then I have an error window pop up that says:
Attempting to copy to the disk "ipod" failed. An unknown error occured (-69)
Does anyone know whats going on?
I've been able to sucessfully load all the songs on another computer to my ipod. So I know theres something wrong with itunes. In light of that, I removed Itunes and tried to download it again. The same window appears saying theres a error (-69)

  • Ipod opens new window

When I connect my iPod, Windows opens a new window that looks like an external device (USB Drive for instance). It never did this before. iPod is NOT set for disk use. Any ideas/solutions to get rid of this annoyance?

    hmmmm.
check to see if there's a Windows AutoPlay setting engaged on one of the file types on the ipod. enable disk use. then right-click on the ipod in "My Computer" and select "properties". go to the autoplay tab. make sure for each of those entries in the pull-down menu that you've got "always prompt" selected. once you've got that okay, disable disk use again. try another connect.
does that get rid of this?
    love, b
