Sync is interrupted

Hello all,
I recently had a hard drive crash on my XP computer. I had my library backed up, so after I re-installed iTunes I just moved the library over from the saved disk to the new hard drive. It worked fine for a few days, and then I started getting this message:
"Itunes cannot sync photos to the iPhone because you don't have write access to the folder iPhotos."
I actually don't want to sync photos at all, that option is not selected in my itunes. I just want to sync music and podcasts!
Because of this problem, each time I try to sync it gets interrupted and I can't move any new data to the iPhone.
Any help you can offer will be deeply appreciated!

I noticed when the sync started that I got a message saying that itunes could not find the iphotos folder. Perhaps this is related?
Quite possibly.
Connect the iPhone to iTunes and go into the photos settings pane. Is it currently set up to sync to an iPhoto folder (even though you're not actually trying to sync photos)?

  • I Synced two of my computers and the Sync was interrupted and now I don't have all the tabs I wanted transferred. How do I redo the Sync? I've clicked the Sync Now button several times and nothing seems to happen.

I Synced two laptops, mostly to transfer several tab groups open in one to the other. While the Sync was in progress, the Options window started to vibrate. After a while, I closed the window and then Firefox. After restarting Firefox, I found that only a few tabs and little of the history had been transferred. I clicked the Sync Now button, on both devices, but nothing further has happened so far.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

  • IPod Syncing Gets Interrupted and iPod Freezes

    Help me out...
So when I sync my iPod with my PC, iTunes recognizes the iPod and starts to update. I recently downloaded the new version of iPod software and then I went to update my iPod and it would start for a little bit but then it froze. A pop-up came up saying that the file is missing for updating the iPod or something like that. So I reset my iPod and restarted my computer and made sure everything was running smoothly. Tried it again. Same thing happened. Anyone else experiencing this problem and want to help me fix this? Is there something wrong with the new iPod update or do you guys think that my iPod is broken? What should I do? My iPod is only a year old. If they die that fast, well that's pretty lame.
    Thanks.

  • Sync interrupted - will verify eventually complete?

I added a new playlist to my iPhone but the sync was interrupted before it completed (but after it was backed up thankfully) and now selecting 'Playlists' from the iPod menu on the phone will cause it to hang. If I plug the phone back into the computer I get a 'Verifying iPhone' message but even after a couple of hours, nothing seems to have happened and iTunes is using 100% of my CPU. However, iTunes does still appear to be running so I think it is doing something.
The question is - do I leave it running in the hope that the verification process will eventually complete (and hopefully fix the error - does it usually take this long - I have an iPhone 3G 16GB)? Or do I reset the phone and restore the latest backup? A full restore makes me very nervous.
Note also that right-clicking on the phone in iTunes doesn't offer me a 'Restore from backup' option (it is greyed out) - is this because iTunes is still trying to sync? Are playlists even part of the backup?
    Any advice is welcome.

You have to follow these instructions to not lose aning information. Also before you tranfer iTunes purchases tot he computer delete any of the same apps from your iTunes library since many apps have been update and the updated apps are no longer compatible with the 1G. When they say restore from backup your iPod will also be updated.

  • Unable to sync iPhone 4 after upgrading to ios 5

My itunes prompted me to upgrade to ios 5.  During the download it stated it was restoring my phone to factory settings.  When the update was complete, it synced all of my contacts, however my apps and music were deleted.  Now when I try to sync it says step 2 of 4 syncing... then it just stops.  There was originally a message that said could not sync to iPhone because syncing was interrupted.  All of my music is showing up in my iTunes library, it just won't show up on my phone or finish syncing.  Please help!

I'm having the same problem - MacBook Pro running 10.6.5. As soon as I updated itunes to 10.1 it stopped seeing my iPhone. I can see it there through System Profiler - so I know the hardware is working. But iTunes doesn't see it anymore.

  • Lightroom 5.5 & Lightroom Mobile (iPhone 5) Sync Issues

So far I have been having nothing but issues getting Lightroom Mobile and Lightroom 5.5 to sync with one another.  This is admittedly the first time I've tried this since I don't have the iPad version.  I tried a sync yesterday for the first time from my phone and had an import of around 650 images and I had set Lightroom Mobile to sync only over Wifi.  Started syncing ok, but I guess I roamed away from my Wifi for a bit and that completely messed up the sync process.  Not only did it not finish the sync, but it somehow corrupted the app to the point where the entire app had to be deleted from the iPhone 5 and re-installed.
This seemed to just present more problems for Lightroom.  There appears to be a default album called "iPhone Photos" that seems to never be found again through setup of a new instance of Lightroom.  Instead, I my account is now up to "iPhone Photos 4" now in the count.  In addition, only about 600 of the 650 photos synced up to the cloud and now Lightroom 5.5 for the desktop is stuck with 210 photos left to import and my computer has been sitting like this for close to an hour this morning.  Is there anyway to troubleshoot what is going on or to completely reset one's Lightroom account to start this back to the beginning.  So far this is a very frustrating update for something that sounded so promising to begin with.

    Greule,
When the sync was interrupted on the iPhone the application suddenly crashed.  I attempted to re-open and was presented with a crash report pop up window that asked me to send a report or not send.  Unfortunately, that pop-up forced the app to shut down.  I then tried a manual force close of the iPhone app, (double click the home button and swipe the app away from memory) and while the app appeared to re-launch itself from scratch, it ended up at that report send pop up and shut down.  In the end, I was forced to go to the data management settings in the iPhone and attempted to delete the data and in the end, I deleted the app and re-downloaded from the app store to fix.
I did just do the "Delete all Data" from the Desktop preferences and it seems it cleared out the collection that was online.  I tried to setup a new collection with the same name, but it appears that the Lightroom online library is preventing name duplication even when another catalog with the same name no longer exists in the account and ended up with an incremental number increase on the collection name.  Now that the collection is gone, if I try to re-sync with my Photo Library from my iPhone will it act as a traditional Lightroom import where duplicate files are scanned for before import?  Or do I have to manage that?
To be honest, I was hoping for this to be an advanced replacement of the Photo Stream feature from Apple, but is that what this is supposed to be?

  • ICal sync prompts password which doesn't work

    Dear support team,
Whenever my computer iCal syncs to my MobileMe, and thus to my iPhone, I get a prompt for a password that reads "Enter the password for your user account on 'End User's Computer'." When I type in my user account password it says "Sorry, you entered an invalid password. Please try again." I then type my keychain password and get the same message. I type my MobileMe password and get the same message, again. I have no other passwords to try. When I check iCal on my computer and phone, I see that the sync on iCal worked, regardless. Other than being annoying, the password prompt interupts FCP layoffs. So I set sync to manual, but forget to sync before I run to a location shoot with the incorrect unsynced info on my iPhone. I endeavor to find a solution.
One of the articles on this site instructed me to use Keychain First Aid in Keychain Access. To verify keychain issues, it prompts for my user login password, which works. It then says that there was an error, which I then repair. I test the hopeful result by syncing to iCalendar, but get the same interrupting password prompt. Another article instructs to unlock the "login" and "System" keychains, in Keychain Access, to do something there. I had unlocked and snooped around both, before consulting the sites, but now my user login password no longer works to unlock the "login" keychain, and neither do my other two passwords. Oddly, my user login password works just fine opening the "System" keychain My safari keychain locks and unlocks just fine with it's password. I go back to First Aid and see that my user password works just fine, and see that there are no errors in the keychain system, but I'm now afraid to shut down my computer fearing that I won't be able to login ever again. I'm thinking about following another discussion instruction to reboot the entire computer with the original Leopard OS disk, but that feels like a last resort headache. I could pack up the entire computer and bringing it to the nearest Apple Store Genius Bar, but that will take half a day.
I just followed a support instruction to reset the login keychain I was unable to open, restarted and tried the iCal sync with the same result as before. I can't think of anything else.
    Any suggestions?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Just fixed it by going to MobileMe Sync Preferences and unchecking the box for keychain sync. No more password prompts that say "Invalid." Now the iCal on both computer and iPhone sync without interruption of work flow. I had originally checked the box to sync keychains so that I wouldn't have to type in ID's and passwords to enter sites on my iPhone. Big glitch in the system. Why have the box to check if it creates problems? Hopefully they'll fix it once, or if, they become aware.
Thanks for letting me think aloud.
    Peace

  • Failed iPhone sync as iTunes states random song files "could not be read". I politely ask for your help!

    Hello
Been having this problem for awhile now:
When I attempt to sync my iPhone, iTunes will start syncing but after every few songs it syncs, iTunes interrupts the sync with a message saying the file could not be imported since it could not be read. I can go to that song iTunes can't import in my list of music and play it in iTunes and verify that it isn't corrupted.
Does anyone know what the issue is? Here is what I have tried so far:
    * Restore entire iPhone
    * Remove iTunes and all preferences, re install and re import music library
    * Change file import settings to iTunes Plus AAC conversion (Not sure this even does anything)
    * Manually converting EVERY song (Shift+Clicking) to AAC
    * Attempt to sync music manually (e.g. only checked items)
The message is as follows: iTunes could not copy "such and such song" to the iPhone because the file could not be read. This error happens with a different song each time I remove the previous one indefinitely, I have over 3000 songs, and it would take me days before I could manually remove each song iTunes deems unworthy of syncing (if at all). And this ONLY happens if I am fortunate enough for iTunes to even attempt to sync the tracks, usually it just skips that step entirely saying it's been completed, with no music actually transferred...
I am leaving on an international trip soon and I very much want to have hard copies of my music with me, I've been wracking my brain for ages now and haven't been this frustrated since freshmen year of highschool.

TL;DR: Everytime I try to sync my songs onto my iPhone, I get an error message that says "iTunes could not copy "(song name)" to the iPhone because the file could not be read or written." and then it stops syncing completely, so the rest of the songs after that don't get put on my iPhone. File is playable and not corrupt.

    Hi skyvandyk,
It sounds like one of your music files may have been corrupted at some point and when trying to sync that song the iPhone is unable to do so. I know this must be a frustrating issue for you.
What I would suggest is that you first attempt to sync your iPhone without that particular song. To do this you will need to manually manage the music that goes to your iPhone. This article will tell you how -
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod

If the song was purchased from the iTunes store you can delete it and download again at no cost, if it is still available. See this article -
    Download past purchases

If the song came from a CD or another source you may have to get it again from that source.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • My iPod Air doesn't sync from Aperture properly.

I can sync up to 5000 pictures without problems. If I go for a full sync(35,000 pictures), the sync gets interrupted, all existing photos from iPad are being deleted, and there is an error message saying that my iPad could not be synced because the sync was not completed (haha). I have tried all remedies, e.g., deleted the cache, repaired my picture library, overinstalled Mountain Lion, and newly set up my iPad. Usually, the procedure then works, but only once. Any repeat from there produces the same failures. I'm desperate and very disappointed. I expressly bought the 126 giga device to carry all my photos. Anybody knows a fix, or is it simply an Apple bug?

  • After updating to itunes 9, ipod won't sync

after updating to itunes 9 when trying to sync my ipod classic 160gb i get a message saying cant read ipod disc with exclamation point. help!

If you have corrupted songs in your itunes music folder it will stop when it gets to that song. Usually it will give you an error message. Delete the corrupted song and try again from the song after the corrupted one. Also, getting a call or text in the middle of a sync will interrupt it I have noticed.

  • TS3694 I've tried to sync my iPhone 3GS, but it'll sync a little and then disconnect when almost done; I get error message 1015, and I don't know what to do. Everything else is fine, my iTunes info is up to date, and so is my OS, ect.

I've tried syncing my iPhone 3GS, but it'll stop when the sync is nearly complete, and the sync is interrupted with an error message reading "Error 1015". I've already tried all of the other things suggested by iTunes (ensuring that my OS is up-to-date, disconnecting other USB cables, ect.), yet this problem persists. Help...

5.0.2 has not been released, thus you can not upgrade.

  • I updated to 5.1 and get the message "the iPhone cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found." What do I do now?

HELP!  I updated to 5.1 and the phone froze.
After restore, it gives the error message above.  It will start a sync, then interrupt and stop... and start and stop.
I've tried rebooting the iMAC when the iphone is ejected from itunes.  No help.
The iphone has never gotten past the apple insignia since the update to 5.1.
    Any ideas very welcome..

Try to Reset your device. It might help and is very simple to do.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first).

  • Not Hot Syncing w/Mac OS X 10.5.2 and Palm Z22, Palm Desktop 4.2.2

I tried double clicking the Hot Sync application, but it will not enable at system setup Error msg: "Could not create auto launch entry to enable HotSync at startup". Otherwise, Hot Sync Manager tells me that it is enabled, I selected it. Yet nothing is hot syncing. I entered some data into palm destop, and I don't see it on my handheld. Are all of these components compatible?
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Ok. So I successfully hot synced, or so I thought. I disabled the hot sync, and then when I tried to re-enable it said that transport manager, and then conduit manager were not in the same folder, so that's why it wouldn't work. I gave up trying to have the hot sync manager in an easy location (ie. on my desktop), and deleted the icons. Then I tried again, but the step I was missing each time was hitting hot sync on my handheld! I haven't use a palm pilot in a looong time. The first hot sync was interrupted and incomplete, the 2nd one seemed to work. Only problem is, the data I entered in the datebook of Palm Desktop doesn't appear on my handheld. THat's precisely what I want to hot sync, much easier to do it on the comp. than manually on my handheld. Help? Does it make a difference that my computer is not registering a new device?

  • 4.8 gigs of "Other" on iPhone; wiped out music on sync

I have an old version iPhone. When I last went to sync to my computer, it completely wiped all music content from the phone. Now the main iphone page in iTunes is showing I have 4.8 gig of "other" content on the phone, so more than half my space is used up for what I don't know. Any thoughts on what "other" is, how to delete it so I can get capacity back? Thanks,

When coded correctly, other is all the information on your phone which is not music, videos or photos. Basiclly its the contacts/calendar/apps, etc.
What happened here was since the sync was interrupted your music/vids were improperly synced by the OS. The iPhone doesn't know what the data is so it codes it as other. Since it doesn't know what the data is, it doesn't know what to do with it or how to delete it.
