Sync issue with Outlook: Notes and Contacts ok - Calendar stopped syncing
Greetings,
Syncing (via USB cable) between my iPhone 3GS (3.1.2) and Outlook 2003 SP3 (Cal, Contacts, and Notes) has never been an issue until my recent upgrade to iTunes 9.0.2.25. Since then, I noticed that my Calendar was no longer syncing either way. When I hit "Sync", iTunes would indicate that it's going through the motion of syncing calendar but no synchronization of the items take place. Contacts and Notes continue to sync fine. One off behavior is that when I connect my iPhone via USB, I get a pop-up window with "Apple iPhone" header
indicating "Camera connected" with option to pick an app (ie. MS Word) to lauch for this action. Never seen this pop-up. I just cancel out of it.
Few things I did to try to fix the issue, in vain:
1. iTunes->Info->Advanced: forced a "Replace information on this iPhone" - no changes to my calendar
2. iTunes->Edits->Preference->Devices->Reset Sync History - all calendar entries on iPhone are gone
3. "Repair/Reinstall" iTunes by running the install executable
I stopped by the Genius Bar for an appointment related to my battery issue and asked the fellow about my sync issue. He wasn't "aware" of the issue.
Anyone has a suggestion for me to try? Thanks!!!
I tried now several things to resync my data cause it realy s*cks without. I tried to install itunes 9.0.2.25, 9.0.1 and 9.0.0 but nothing helped so far. I also tried to set Outlook 2003 as standard program for mailing (one forum wrote that helps, too) and I tried to find out if something blocks the communication betwen Outlook 2003 and itunes. But nothing could help so far, still no sync.
I find it interesting that when I connect my iphone to my PC an then switch in itunes to the device and the "info" pane where I can setup all my sync data with PIM programs that Outlook still remains there as default synced application. But the subfolder in contacts also the mail accounts that should be synced cannot be seen. The option to force itunes to overwrite the calendar, contacts, notes and mailaccount data on the iphone no matter what can be selected. But when i do the synchronisation all of these options are unmarked again.
Atm I'm thinking of tracing the problem down with Filemon.

Tour Sync Issues with Outlook 2003 and Error Code 0x8004fceb
Hello, I have a Tour with DM 5.0, which I sync with Outlook 2003 on my laptop running Vista O/S. I am having a problem deleting items from the Tour that I've previously added via a sync with Outlook.
Some time after syncing, I delete the items from Outlook and then re-sync. Instead of deleting from BB, the changes dialog box tells me the items are going to be added from the device to Outlook!!! If I accept changes so that other calendar items will update (from Outlook to BB), Outlook remains fine, but the items do not delete from BB.
Additionally, existing items on BB are duplicated on the BB during sync. In other words, I have ended up with 7 entries for one appointment on the BB even though there's only one in Outlook. This primarily happens with recurring appointments.
Lastly, despite all this confusion, the sync ends with Error Code 0x8004fceb; check documentation, which I cannot locate on blackberry.com.
I am set up for two-way sync, future items only. I even reset to one-way sync from calendar to device to no avail.
Please help.
Thank you.Sorry. I guess I needed to be clearer I have Office SP 2.
I will tell you that I currently running an older version of iTunes (7.3) because that is the only one that syncs.
In the newest version of iTunes (and of course the current one) it does give me the option to sync with outlook.

Has any one experienced issues with iCloud synchronisation and contacts over two or more devices? The primary machine is an iMac running Lion. Address Book was created from vcf file (backup of address book prior to moving to iCloud). iTouch replicates Contacts just fine and matches the Address Book on the iMac. The iPad 2 does not showing only 123 contacts where there should be 200. I have turned off iCloud on both devices thus erasing the iCloud content of both devices and staring from scratch with both devices with identical results. Even turned off iCloud on the iMac and erased the Address Book and rebuilt with the same results. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I am going nuts.....
To follow-up with this issue:
I ended up performing a security wipe on my device. The security wipe finished, and I was about to reconnect with Exchange when I decided to visit our host's web site to see if they had any articles covering the issues I was experiencing. While they didn't have anything specific, I did find a step-by-step guide to connecting a BB10 device to Exchange... and right there at the end, it said "Do NOT enable memo sync."
I contacted support, and the rep told me that OS 10 has an issue with memo sync and it can cause all sorts of unpredictable behavior. Now, whether or not this is accurate I can say this: So far, the device is not disconnecting and reconnecting like it was before. Problem is, is this a result of not enabling memo sync, or is this a result of the security wipe?
I may have overlooked it, but I don't recall reading anything about that anywhere else. I'm tempted to try re-enabling the memo sync to see if everything blows up again. At least that way I can see for myself if the memo sync is a real issue. Of course, perhaps it's an issue with SherWeb (our host) specifically. Hm...
Anyway, for those that were interested, and for those that may come along in the future with a similar situation, the strange behavior that I first reported is no longer happening. I just don't know if it was a result of a security wipe or a result of not enabling memo sync with Exchange.

Please Help... Sync BB8900 with Outlook 2007 and Vista.
I have trawled the web looking for an answer to this question and can't find any answers, please can somebody help me !!!
I have owned my 8900 Curve for about 2 months and love it, I used to sync it with my old computer running Windows XP and Outlook 2007 and had no problems.Unfortunately that computer died and I have upgraded to a new PC unning Windows Vista, my problem is this... When I try to set up the sync options for my calendar, contacts etc I don't get the option to sync it with Outlook, I only get the option to sync it with
1... ASC II Importer/exporter
2...Yahoo.
I rely heavily on my BB being up to date and without this function may as well go back to my old PDA.
I have tried re-installing Desktop Manager a few times and even downloading older versions of it to see if this fixes my problem, all to no avail.
Please,Please can somebody help.
Thank You In Advance.
StuartHi,
By the "media control" I take it your were referring to the Vizkids Post, suggesting the mediad manager not be installed?
I didn't say that, I agree with it, but I didn't say it.
Stulew99 Wrote:
"Why we should have to do this I have no idea, surely if something is

A friendly tip as this is your first thread, The User who suggested that has 4 more posts than you. He is new to the forum as well.
What worked for his problem, might not work for yours, in this case it wouldn't have affected it at all. When you get stuck or need some
research go to the upper left hand corner where the grey search box is. Type on keyword for your problem, I would put vista outlook 2007
desktop, to start. You will see the history of the problems reading those subjects. You will see green resolution marked on most
Follow those resolved threads and see how it relates to yours, and how it was resolved in the past. Be sure to write your search results in you thread other users can then see what you've tried and found and help you quicker
As you get more experience you will get good use from the Support and Services grey tab at the top of the page.
That's where the link I posted came from. Please take my comments the way they were intended, as helpful advice, OK?
I need some specifics on your Vista OS 32 or 64 bit? What version of desktop manage have you tried, removed reinstalled etc.?
Okay flesh things out a little, you installed desktop manager with full access rights as an administer on Vista, correct?
The installation was error free?
You setup the your email and when you went to configure the synchronization options, you had what options, I know
you didn't have Outlook.
What steps did you try to resolve the problem?
Did you change any settings in Outlook, review the desktop setup in the manual?
How far did you get on article I left you regarding MS Outlook tips?
Ok let me know the detail for those questions, thanks,
Regarding the clean procedure post, The first part of the procedure states:
"To install BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Windows® based computer that
had a previous version of BlackBerry Desktop Software installed,
complete the five tasks outlined below. These tasks should also be
completed if the BlackBerry Desktop Software installation or
uninstallation procedures did not complete successfully."
Going on, it explains and shows how to make sure all the registry entries, program files and remnants , along with file traces
were made In Vista and are completely removed. A lot of desktop manager issues especially in the Vista OS can be traced to old
registrations made by a previous DM installation.
Please let me know what parts are not clear.

Just recently, I have been unable to receive icloud email on my iphone and new ipad3. Although, I am a loyal apple consumer, I feel a bit let down. I am a PhD student and used my ipad/icloud email for downloading and reading PDF journal articles. My goal is to eventally buy a MacBook Pro and eliminate some of the syncing issues with icloud by storing my documents on the hard drive. I hope this will give me some relief from all the trouble I have had with icloud. Please share your suggestions.
Right now, there is an iCloud blackout. Most people are having issues syncing Notes, Calenders, and Contacts between devices, emails aren't being sent, and Find My iPhone isn't working.

Sync issues between Outlook 2003 and Centro
I purchased a new Centro about a week ago, and I have been syncing it with Outlook - I thought it was working fine, until I realized that calendar items that were added to my Centro were not showing up in Outlook. I reinstalled the Hotsync Manager, and was able to get it to sync both ways again, but after shutting down my computer, I am back to the same issue where it will not sync with Outlook. Today, I installed the Palm Desktop, but I do not want to use it if I don't have to, since I would rather have to only have one program open for e-mail, calendar, etc., in addition to Outlook giving me more options with my calendar organization. Any ideas on why I keep losing the ability to sync with Outlook?
Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)This may be caused by an outdated version of Chapura PocketMirror, the software that lets you synchronize your device with Outlook.
To help prevent data loss
Chapura recommends that you download and install the latest updater of the PocketMirror Standard software. We recommend you update to the latest version from Chapura's downloads site, www.chapura.com/palmsupport. PocketMirror Standard v.3.1.2 (and later) resolves this issue.

PC Sync issues with Outlook and Iphone
Can anyone point me to a discussion group which can address the sync issues I am having with my iphone since upgrading itunes and iphone last night on my windows PC.
Most discssions threads are mac orientated and as a result I rarely get a response to my issues!
I am not able to carry out any syncs on my iphone as it crashes outlook.
I appreciate any advice to where top look for an answer to this.I found a workaround and I hope this helps someone, I had a client with this issue today. Her iPhone synced up great with the outlook calendar but not with the contacts and that was what was important to her. Here is my words of advice.......
1. Please don't bash apple on this issue, I have seen many posts that do this on this topic.
Apple seems to be releaseing full exchange support in June.
2. Here is what I think is going on.
Take a look at WHAT type of set up you have on your outlook (imap, Exchange, or POP)
If you use your outlook with imap or exchange, outlook will not create a .pst file, you will have a .ost file which seems like itunes sync cant read and you get an error. With a pop account you get a .pst file.
Here is what I did.
I made a personal folder and copied all of her contacts to it and changed the DEFAULT mail folder to point to the newly created personal folder. (personal folders make a .pst file)
then I went into iTunes and started a sync and all the contacts got synced up with her phone. ( she was very very happy )
Hopefully in June the iPhone will have full exchange support.
Hope this helps and please correct me if i'm wrong.

Do you mean other machines that configured with the same email account don't have the issue?
Have you ever tried to manually download the Offline Address Book? On the ribbon, go to SEND/RECEIVE tab>Send/Receive Groups>Download Address Book...
If issue persists, please first check that the Background Intelligence Transfer Service (BITS) service is running:
Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools, and then click "Services".
In the list of services, click "Background Intelligence Transfer Service", and then make sure that the status of this service is set to "Started".
Outlook uses BITS to connect to the URL that's provided by the Autodiscover service. (Outlook use Autodiscover service to automatically configure themselves for access to Exchange server.)
Hope this helps.

Syncing issues with Outlook when I add a contact to my iphone
I'm using the icloud to sync my calendar and contacts to my iphones and Outlook. Everything seems to be working perfect except one thing. When I add a contact to my phone it will not show up on my husbands phone or Outlook. I have checked my defaults and it apears to be se correctly. Can anyone please help?
Hmmmm....But even when I do that, the two playlists go into the general music file and mix together. So I don't understand the point of a playlist if it all just gets thrown into the general mix. Seems like if you create a playlist, it should be separate--otherwise, what's the point? Or maybe I'm missing the point. Sigh...

Not all contacts or calendar entries syncing with Exchange ActiveSync
Just set up Exchange ActiveSync on my new iPhone. Exchange 2007, Outlook 2007, iPhone 2.1. Did my initial sync over the air. All appears good.
Edit some entries in contacts on PC, add some new, etc. Same with calendar. They do not appear to sync over. Odd thing is in contacts they don't show up but yet my count matches between the two systems. Some of the edits don't come over either.
In calendar, some entries are missing.
Any ideas? No response from Apple. Calls to support turned up nothing. Problem seems to be a general issue with wireless sync. If I hardwire sync the appointments come over fine. If I do it by wireless, any appointments that are changed are at risk of not coming over.
Others in my office that use Windows Mobile have said same thing from time to time on their end.
Palms never failed like this. I would say Apple and Windows Mobile are not ready for prime time. I hope someone fixes this because the system is not stable. -
ICloud sync issues with Outlook 2007
I am currently using Outlook 2007 and want to sync my Iphone 4S with it. I have setup the icloud settings etc and I am having the following issues.
When I change something on my phone there is no wireless sync happening even though its setup?
When I go to my outlook calendar it gives me two choices. A pink tab says Calendar in Cloud and a green tab says work in Cloud. When I sync my phone calendar changes show up in the green Work in Cloud. However, the Work in Cloud does not contain many of my previous inputs prior to starting with the icloud service.
When I click on Contact it’s initially blank and says no contacts, if I click on Contacts in Cloud my contacts show up.
Can you help with these items? Thanks in advance.ok...
From experience, I can tell you the two calendars are both default calendars with iCloud. 'Work in Cloud' probably doesn't contain any of previous inputs because your iphone probably defaults to your regular calendar.
For me, I was able to get a good understanding by looking at the icloud calendar at icloud.com and the outlook calendar side by side. I recommend doing so, and playing around with things so you can figure out how they work.
With Outlook, you are going to have locally stored stuff (like Contacts), and your cloud-stored stuff (like Contacts in Cloud). That is why you are seeing two different sets of data. It looks like you dont have any locally stored contact, which is fine. All of your contacts are in iCloud (or...Contacts in Cloud), which should correlate to your iphone. again, it might be best to just pull up icloud.com, and put it side by side with outlook. it helped me get a good understanding of how it works. -
Hi,
Not sure if this would be the correct place for this, but here is my issue
We have a client with Exchange 2010, and Outlook 2010 and they seem to be getting sync issues. the error that comes up is
10:58:52 Synchronizer Version 14.0.6117
10:58:52 Synchronizing Mailbox "User Mailbox"
10:58:52 Synchronizing local changes in folder 'Inbox'

10:58:52 Synchronization of some deletions failed.
10:58:52 [0-130]
10:58:52 2 item(s) deleted in online folder

And here is another example
10:27:20 Synchronizer Version 14.0.6117
10:27:20 Synchronizing Mailbox "User Mailbox"
10:27:20 Synchronizing Hierarchy
10:27:20 Synchronizing local changes in folder 'move folder'

10:27:21 Synchronizing local changes in folder 'move folder 2'
10:27:21 Uploading to server
"Server.domain"
10:27:21 4 item(s) added to online folder
10:27:21 Downloading from server
"Server.domain"
10:27:21 Done
10:27:25 Microsoft Exchange offline address book
10:27:25 Download successful
Now I have tried some of the standard troubleshooting steps but it seems to keep happening.
This is what I have tried
1) turned off any 3rd part addins
2) turned on outlook logging, but it does not seem to indicate any errors, or I may not be reading it right
3) removed the ost file, and let outlook recreate it
4) turned off cache mode, and turned off offline file, re-open outlook turned back on offline file, cache mode
5) removed exchange support files for outlook, and repaired office
So I am not sure where to proceed from here.
Thanks
TimHello Tim,
Is there any new update on this thread?

Sync issue with Outlook Calendar
I just got my first BB - the Pearl 8120. I installed the Desktop Manager v4.6 off the BB web on an XP tablet pc. I set it up to syncronize with my outlook 2003. The sync worked fine for the contacts, however, when it started syncing the calendar, it started up saying it was reading from MS Outlook Calendar and read through the items until it reached 2096/13344. It stalled for about 30-45 seconds and then started up again until it reached 4613. It stalled again, but started up again. At record 6089, a message comes up that says "Intellisync - The operation terminated unexpectedly". I push "ok" and it returns to the desktop manager. If I push sync again, it comes up and says "Intellisync - unknown error reported". I have to close out of the desktop manager and restart to have it sync again. I tried syncing just the notes and it worked fine. I also sync'd the tasks with no issues. However, everytime I try syncing the calendar, it bombs out.
I tried to see if there was a suspicious calendar entry in outlook, but I can't find which entry it is bombing out on (just the number - the entries listed in the log don't appear to be in a specific order).
I turned off my anti-virus and had the same luck.
I also went into the advanced section of backup and restore to delete the database (recommendation from BB website technical support), but there are no databases listed at all for the computer databases.
I have been using hotsync from Palm to sync with my palm. Active sync is also installed on my system.
Any ideas?
Solved!
Go to Solution.Ok- I think I found a solution. AT&T directed me to a BB document KB01451 which shows you how to turn on advanced logging capability. Evidently, I had a few records in my Outlook database where the date codes were corrupted for some unknown reason. I followed the directions to turn on the logging. Then, do a sync. After you get the error message, look in the tif.log using notepad and scroll to the bottom of the document. Within the first few lines, you will see the subject line. Go into Outlook calendar and go into the advanced find. Type in the subject line and have the search look for the subject title. If you have more than one entry with the same name, you can probably figure out the specific record with a location or some other identifying mark. If not, you need to process all the records you found. What I did was open up the record - each corrupted record had a reoccurance set. I went into the reoccurance tab located under tools. I selected ok and acknowledged the warning it would give me about changes to some events may be changed. I then saved the appointment. I then went into the directory of the logs and renamed the logs. You can also just erase them if you don't want to keep track of them. By the way, you will probably have to shut down the desktop manager and Outlook in between the errors - you may have to close outlook through the task manager as it gets hung due to the error. You just have to keep going through the process until you find all the corrupted records - I had 6 in my file of 13k records. I have no idea why this was happening - the records were from many years ago to a few weeks ago....not a good sign!! My Palm didn't seem to have an issue with these records, so I don't know why they were an issue with the BB....but I am up and running after several hours of messing with this - hopefully this will help someone else.
