Sync issues since downloading new iTunes

After downloading the new ITunes, I bought some songs, then tried to sync up my iPhone using my USB and my desktop, since the desktop is where I did my purchasing.  As soon as I hooked the phone up, a message box appeared that said "Cannot sync because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started".. what the heck is that and how do I start it??

    I just downloaded the new iTunes (11.0.1.12) and am facing some sunc issues.
    In my previous itunes, when i would download an app to my iPod over wifi and then connect it to my PC, iTunes would automatically sync and maintain a copy of the app in my PC. My iPod and the PC would be in sync.
    But now after I've downloaded this latest iTunes, I downloaded an app to my iPod and when I tried to sync with the PC, the app no longer got copied to my PC. I've tried syncing many times. Its there on my iPod but never gets copied to the PC during sync. Why is is this happening?
    Help!

    There aren't any issues with the new iTunes. You need the most recent iTunes to sync your iPod

  • Cannot sync ipod since downloading new version

    I recently downloaded the latest version of itunes. When I connected my ipod classic 80gb to my computer the following message came up:- "Unable to sync ipod. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". When I disconnected my ipod all the music had been deleted. I reset it and tried again, but the same message appeared. I can no longer sync any music. Does anybody know why this problem is happening and how I can resolve it?

    Has your music been deleted off the computer? If it is still there, at least you will be able to synchronise that music to SOMETHING, maybe at a later date if your iPod is beyond repair. I can't think why your iPod would not be able to synchronise... Maybe you need to upgrade your version of iTunes, or re-download the iPod software, or even (rather drastically) upgrade your computer?
    I would contact the Apple company with further details of the problem. It sounds to me like a problem with the iPod software update in the downloading process, but it could indicate a virus, although this is unlikly. Scan your computer just to be safe.

    Download new itunes update and now it wont let me sync. Keeps saying I need 26gb of free space which it didn't say before I downloaded the update. It doesn't make sense. It keeps saying:
    The iPod cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library. (additional 26gb required)
    This makes no sense because before the new itunes update there was no problem with me not having enough space. I have 5gb of free space now and I had 5gb of free space before I downloaded the itunes update. Nothing should've changed. And I should not need an extra 26gb of space. How do i fix this problem so I can my ipod normally again.

    Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
    Come back with the results.
    An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost      
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
    To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings                            
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Since the new iTunes update 11.3, right after that I couldn't connect my iPod nano 7th G to iTunes. It kept showing me that it couldn't find my ipod, that I had to reinstall iTunes. I did that and still. And now I can't connect my iPhone 5

    Recently downloaded new iTunes.  Now I can't get my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to load songs in order.  Never had trouble with the old iTunes format.

    I love the new version of Grid view but some of the other changes feel like they still need some fine tuning. And I miss cover flow even if I didn't use it that often...
    You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
    Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
    Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before).
    Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
    Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour.
    Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (but perhaps it does more)
    If you want to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
    See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

    I am trying to download new version of iTunes from App store having purchased it on my laptop.  When I try to download on my iMac I get the following message:

    Also, since upgrading to Lion my videos (from Sanyo Xacti camera) do not play on iTunes. I can only open photos.

    And I assume you have already checked to see if your iTunes purchases are authorized by choosing Store -> Authorize This Computer?
    Some have been able to resolve this issue by removing the downloaded purchase and redownloading it again at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for more information on redownloading past purchases.

    The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases
    It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Have you failed to do this?

    If the issue you are troubleshooting is not resolved after following these steps, it is not necessary to remove and reinstall iTunes multiple times. Instead, you may find helpful information on the iTunes Support page, such as troubleshooting steps related to specific alert messages.
    **try these steps, make sure you remove all components of itunes that it says and in that order specifically.
    there are several other steps to try to solve the issue, but this is typically going to be the best option.

    Hi everybody, i was just downloading new itunes version as proposed and got a runtime error R6034 (an app has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly). then it says that itunes was  not installed properly and that i have to reinstall it Error7. what's going on?? did i loose the music that was not saved? what about gift card, is it still gone show up on my account? all my podcast and such, have to reinstall all of it again? why something like this would happen? cannot reinstall old version?? thank you guys, help me please.

    Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
    Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
    If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
    Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
    (If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)
