Sync itunes between two macs

I have a MBP and an iMac, and I want to synchronize iTunes music and libraries between both computers. Which is the best way to do it?

There are a few utilities that can help you sync iTunes across different computers. You could begin your research by having a look at these for instance:
TuneRanger
SuperSync
syncOtunes

  • Syncing iTunes between two macs, possible?

    Hi,
A feature I really miss is the possibility to sync my iTunes music between two computers.
For instance, If I buy one song on Mac1 it syncs with Mac2, with just a few mouseclicks or so.
Right now it can be quite chaotic to keep track of both libraries, and would be nice with a program or a feature that can update the libraries easy, not matter if i'm deleting songs, adding, changing location, and so on.
    Is this possible some how?
    Thanks in advance

  • Sync folders between two Macs

    Howdy,
I want Mail on two of my Macs to be in sync. I have a lot of rules set up and once the rules are applied the mail is sorted in local folders so it disappears from the inbox. This of course causes it to no longer be available on the other Mac.
Looking for an application that can sync files I select between two Macs whenever a change is detected on either of them, in this case my Mail folder and peferences. This can go directly or through an OS X server that's running 24/7. I don't want to move my folders to the mailserver but keep them local.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

I've had a Macbook Pro for about a year and a half and love it so much that this Christmas I decided to buy myself a second Mac. I got a refurbished 24 inch iMac and just set it up last night. During the setup it occurred to me that there are certain folders on both computers (documents, pictures, audio, downloads, etc) that I would like to have available and synchronized between both computers. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to do this. Does this functionality exist in Snow Leopard?
no. not unless you want to use a command line tool like rsync.
If not, are there any 3rd party apps that will solve my problem?
you can use Chronosync or ForkLift. also, you can sync not directly between computers but via a cloud. there are many services that do that. there is apple's own mobileme. another very popular one is DropBox.

  • Sync contacts between two macs

I would like to use iCloud to sync my Contacts between two Macs. How do I get the Contacts "On My Mac" to do this?
    Thanks,
    Frank

Thanks. You said: "When you setup iCloud the On my Mac contacts should've been moved to iCloud I think (can't remember what happened in my case)."
Actually that does not happen, or at least it didn't happen to me.

  • Sync iphone between two macs

How do I sync my iphone between two macs. An imac at home and a macbook pro. I want them to work equally if possible
    thanks

I want to be able to sync my iphone to both the imac and the macbook pro. Everything equally. Apps, music, photos etc.
When I updated to ios, using the macbook pro, it wiped everything out. I had to go to my imac and do a restore from a previous version to get things back. I want both macs to be equal when I synch with them.
    Can I do this?
    thanks

  • Sync itune between two different mac

I have been using a powerbook pro for the past 3 years and built up my own itune library during the time. Now that I have got the new imac, is there anyway that I can sync the songs between the two macs that I have?

I looked into using it, tried it and it didn't do anything but waste my time. I would NOT recommend this utility! After selecting and unselecting amongst the jumble of song, podcasts, movies, tv shows mixed up by title, author or other random titles, I told it to Copy and after a wait for the progress bar to complete it finished and I found the only thing it did was create a SynchoTunes folder inside my destination iTunes folder. Nothing was copied.

  • Sync itunes between two pcs with ethernet

Is it possible to sync my ITunes library between two Win7 PCs with an ethernet cable ? I use this method to sync my files (share everything on my laptop, then use SyncBackSE).  I would be good if I could do this as it would avoid a lot of podcast duplicate downloading.
    Thanks

C'mon guys, I'm talking about two PCs both authorized on the same Apple ID, not a separate unauthorized PC.

  • Sync iTunes between 2 macs, iPhone and iPad

    Hi,
I had 1 macbook, iPhone and iPad. I had synched my iTunes with all these devices. Recently i bought one more mac book and i would like to synch my iTunes with the new macbook. When i connect my iPhone or iPad to the new macbook my iTunes are not getting synched.
I had the home sharing option turned on and now I am able to view the iTunes library in my new macbook only when i have the iTunes turned on in my old macbook. If i close the iTunes in my old macbook, iTunes in the new macbook is not able to access the songs.
Without having my old macbook turned on, is there a way that i can synch my iTunes with the new macbook.
Basically i would like to keep my iTunes synched between 2 macs, iPhone and iPad.
    Old Macbook Pro - 13 inch - OS X Yosemite - Version 10.10
    iPhone - 5S - iOS 8.1
iPad Air Mini - Version 8.1
    Old Macbook Pro - 15 inch - OS X Yosemite - Version 10.10
    Thanks
    Srinraj

I've done this manually. Someone may have an AppleScript, who knows?
Turn on File Sharing on both computers (really only needed on the machine with the songs). I presume you have a network connecting the two computers, AirPort?
From Finder on the MPB, select Network (make sure "Connected Servers" is selected in Finder Preference / General). Attach to the source computer's HD so you can see the folder containing the iTunes music.
    Launch iTunes on your MPB.
Make sure "Preferences / Advanced / Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized" is CHECKED.
Select "Add to Library" in iTunes on the MPB, navigate to the mounted folder from the source, and select the albums or songs you want to bring over. I do a sort on "time" to find the newer additions to my iTunes Library.
You can multi-select, etc. using the usual Apple conventions.
iTunes will crank a while, and copy the files from your server to your MPB.
    Good luck!

  • How to sync calendars between two Macs without Mobile Me?

Is there a way to sync calendars between my wife's Mac and my Mac without Mobile Me? They are in the same house and I don't see the need to go thousands of miles and over the Internet for that purpose. Thanks.

Yes, you pretty much just drag and drop or copy and paste depending on which way you like better. It is pretty much like connecting an external hard drive. Just find the files you want and copy them over to your other computer.
This is one of my favorite features from Macs. It's very simple to do and because it's Firewire even large files transfer over very quickly.

  • Sync Podcasts between two macs

I have subscribed to podcasts on my home and office macs and wondered how to update those that I sync at the office at home. They do not show up in the list for selected podcasts to sync.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Phil

Though it refers to items purchased from the iTunes Store, it applies to all your tracks and videos. And if you happen to also own an iPod:

To keep them synchronized in the future, you'll either have to copy the new tracks manually per the procedure above or use one the available synchronization utilities such as TuneRanger.

  • Sync itunes between two computers

Hey all, I have had a laptop for a while with my itunes library on it. I recently bought a small desktop to keep connected to my home theatre, as it's a pain to keep connecting my laptop all the time, especially when I take my laptop with me everywhere.
Here's what I would like to accomplish: I want all my music on my laptop to also be on the desktop, and I would like an easy way to sync the two when I add new music to my laptop. I would highly prefer to be able to keep the play count, starts, etc synced as well.
Now, I know I can just copy the Music folder from one computer to the other, but this won't sync anything after that, unless I do it every time I add new music. I have googled and found the Home Share feature, which also allows you to import music from one computer to another. But my question is, when I add new music, will this sync automatically? Or will I have to manually import again? And if I do have to manually import again, will it have to import everything? Or will it just transfer the new files? I don't want to bog down my home network every time I want to sync.
I should also say, I would like to stay away from any external programs if possible. Unless there is one that makes this extremely easier.
And also, I do not have an ipod/iphone. I have read that's the easiest way to do this, but I don't have any of those.
Running Windows 7 on both computers.

See the user tip Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy. It does suggest a free additional tool, and it isn't automatic, but it is fast compared to manually copying the entire library from one machine to another. It would also give you the opportunity to spot if something goes missing which a completely automatic system might not.

  • Sync ical between two Macs?

    Hi,
I have a Mac at home and a mac at work. Is it possible for my ical to sync on both macs so that i can view the same calenders on both macs?
It appears to be signed intop icloud on both macs but the calenders dont sync or display the same info?
    Both are running 10.7.4.
    Thansk.

    Hi and thanks for responding.
I'm being really stupid here, i don't even know if my ical is "on my mac" or in "icloud" i'm afraid.
If i go into icloud in system prefs, "Calander" is checked on both Macs.
I can't find anything on my Mac that says" On My Mac" as in the link you sugessted?
Appologies for me struggling with this.

  • Sync iTunes Between Multiple Macs?

I have a 3 Mac network. Is it possible to have iTunes on one machine running a playlist, and the other computers playing the exact same music that is playing on the main machine? I would like to walk from room to room and hear the same music at each machine? How do I do this?
    Kevin Hawkins

If you have a main library with all of your music you could simply share the music and then stream it across the network to the other macs.
