Sync iTunes music to MacBook Pro
I want to sync my MacBook Pro to my iMac but only want to transfer my music in iTunes.
What's the simplest way?
I also have Time Capsule and I'm sure a backup of the iMac is on it if that helps.

I'd also suggest these 2 options:
A - Update to Itunes 9 and enable home sharing... Connect your secondary device and then connect up and copy your music files over (this won't do play lists however) -- Just makesure both devices are activated to your iTunes account.
B - Just copy your iMac's "iTunes" folder via external HDD or thumb drive and paste it into your "users" folder on the MacBook Pro. This option will mirror your library identically to the new computer
However, note that any updates using routine B, will need to continually go through this process.... routine A will let you syncronize or copy your music at any time with ease!

I just bought a Vista based computer and I wanted to use it for my music since it has a lager hard drive than my mac. How can I get my music off the mac and onto the pc? I have tried using the iPod to transfer it, but Windows will not read it since it is not formated for windows. I read that on a Apple article. At one point in time, I had taken some music off a Mac Pro or P5 desktop and put it onto my Windows XP laptop. I cannot remember how I did this though. If anyone has any suggestions, that will be great. Also would it be easier to maybe "link the two computers together"? I don't know if that is possible. You guys tell me. Thanks again for any replies on how to accomplish this or links to places that could help me. I really would like to make this work.
thanks i figured it out all i did was open ibooks and then click and dragged into a folder i made on the desktop and that worked wonderful so easy to do

My purchased music on apple tv won't sync with iTunes on my macbook pro
I purchased music through my Apple TV and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to sync/redownload the music to my iTunes on my MacBook Pro! Is there any way around signing up for iTunes Match? Or is that the only way? I've read on another discussion that if I try to delete my music on Apple TV and then redownload it on my MacBook it might register that I've already purchased it and hopefully not charge me twice, BUT now I cant figure out how to delete music from my Apple TV! Im usually very "tech-savvy" but am having a rough time thus far, someone help!

Check for available downloads is not the same thing. Syncing an iPhone will only transfer content that is already downloaded. If you have not setup automatic downloads you will need to download from your purchase history. -
Is it possible for itunes on my MacBook Pro to play songs off my networked Western Drive external hard drive so I can sync to my Mac to my iPhone? I do not want to keep any music on my laptop and I don't want to pay $25 to itunes match a year to access my songs if I don't have to.

Thank you for replying. I've been looking at your posts about setting up iTunes using an external drive. A bit of background info. My old computer broke down, so I got a new one from work. I've always kept my music files on my external drive (I have around 170GB of music). I didn't follow the suggestions in the "migrate iTunes library" post because my old computer died on me. However, I've looked at your posts about lay out of the iTunes folders. Before connecting to iTunes on the new computer, I had reorganized my iTunes folder on my E: external drive, and created an iTunes folder which contains an iTunes Media subfolder. The music files are in a Music folder, which is in the iTunes Media folder. I've also put the following files in my iTunes folder: iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, iTunes Music Library.xml, as well as sentinel. I then followed the advice you gave bmw99 on 2 Nov 2013 at 9.58 (sorry, can't copy the exact answer).
Just to clarify: I'd like to keep all my music media on the E: external hard drive (the computer hard drive is too small), and I'm aware i might never have my playlists back, and that all the songs in my library might be ticked. However, I don't want my library to be duplicated.
I'm at work at the moment, but will be back home in about 10 hours, so I can be more specific about folders / files names.

I had my iPod synced with iTunes on my iBook (OS 10.4.11) and then the iBook crashed and I had to replace it with a MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.8). I want to transfer all of the stuff on my iPod to my iPhone 4S through the MacBook Pro. But, I do not want to upgrade the iPod iOS (4.1) because my wife will use it with her iMac (OS 10.4.11). She has no interest in upgrding the iMac OS to support iOS 5. Can I sync the iPod with iTunes on the MacBooK Pro without upgrading the iOS from 4.1 to 5.? This will let me go back to the iMac and sync the iPod with it. I only need to do this once to offload everything on the iPod to the MacBook Pro and then to the iPhone. I'm very reluctant to try this for fear of ending up with an iPod that won't sync with the iMac. Thanks for any help you can offer.

When I purchase music through iTunes from my MacBook Pro, my iPhone 4 iTunes app cannot detect those purchase to allow them to download to my phone. If I open up the iTunes app and select "purchased > music > not on this iphone" it tells me "All of your available music has been downloaded to this device." However, my purchases are not yet downloaded to the iphone and not available to download. If I go to "purchased > music > all > recent purchases" it will show me the purchases that were most recent the last time I synced my phone, but not the purchases since then.
Any thoughts on how I can remedy this and make all of my purchased music available on my phone without requiring syncing?

Fortunately, AirPlay does not cost anything as it is a streaming protocol used by Apple. Currently, the AirPort Express and Apple TV are AirPlay-ready. A number of other companies, like JBL, iHome, Denon and Klipsch are also rumored to be working on AirPlay versions of their products.
Your other option would be to get an AirPort Express and connect it to your Onkyo analog or optical digital audio input and stream from iTunes that way. I currently do this with my 10+ year old Harmon Kardon HT receiver. -
I downloaded the latest version of iTunes on my MacBook Pro and now when I open iTunes I can not access the iTunes store; however, I can access the Apps store. I have tried reinstalling iTunes. I have tried changing the pop up/cookie settings in Firefox and Safari. I have logged out and also shut down my MacBook. I have tried changing the Firewall settings on my MacBook. Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library. -

I am having issues with streaming music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my audio system through AirPlay. Works perfectly with my iPod Touch. The AirPlay icon appears irregularly in iTunes and when selected doesn't connect. Running latest IOS software.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

Purchased music on Macbook Pro does not agree with the purchased music on iPad.
I have current versions of all software. And just bought a new iPad. When examining purchased music in iTunes on my MacBook Pro, it is pointing to current purchases over the past few years. But when examining purchases in iTunes on new iPad, it is pointing to very old purchases made several years ago. The purchases to do not agree - they are not in sync. I have my iPhone attached via USB cable to my MacBook Pro.
I have been able to successfully sync my calendar now by activating iCloud on my iPhone and via System Preferences on my MacBook Pro after I learned that Maverick does not provide iSync.
However, I have a new problem: The calendar does not "upgrade" (it gets stuck) and I receive a "403" error and it gets stuck in a loop that I have to force quit. I have looked that up in the forum, but wasn't able to solve this issue because the solutions are way to technical and out of my league.
Very disappointed development as removing calendar from iCloud now also deletes all my entries on the Mac. -
Have a Macbook Pro and a 4th gen iPod Touch. Downloaded and install iOS 4.3.2 yesterday. Upgrade went without a hitch, but now iTunes on My Macbook Pro will not open. I get an error that says --The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes--. I am running iTunes 10.1. Is your computer still authorized in the Store menu in iTunes?

When I changed to my new MacBookPro I had to authorize it although I used TimeMachine to transfer my settings and data.
Did you try to deselect Wi-Fi syncing and enable it again after that?

Awful sound using Jambox speaker with my iMac
I just purchased a Jawbone Jambox speaker hoping to hook it up to my iMac and subsitute for my bulky receiver and speakers. The sound quality is awful. Sounds fine when connected through a USB cable, also works fine with my iPhone. Any chance of impr
