Sync itunes to another mac

I bought a new Mini Mac and now want to sync my Iphone with it.  It tells me my phone is already synced with my old computer.  How can i override this?

You can override this and sync along with losing all iTunes content on your iPhone and any photos on your iPhone that were transferred from another computer.
Have you transferred your iTunes library from your previous computer to your new computer along with all other important data from the previous computer such as photos, documents, etc.?

My apologies, I read your post the wrong way. I see now that the original poster was confused about the specs and you were simply responding with the appropriate info.
I've gotten defensive after reading the forums. The forums are full of posters just looking to prove someone wrong or stupid, rather than being helpful. I shouldn't have assumed you were one of those people. Sorry.
I did my homework and discovered that my PowerPC will run Leopard. It can be purchased for $129 by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. This is much cheaper than replacing my laptop.
I hope to upgrade my Mac soon, though! Can't believe this thing is still ticking. I love Apple.

  • Sync-ing iTunes with another Mac &/or external hard drives?

Can u use iSync or another app 2 sync iTunes music between 2 different macs &/or an external HD? If so how? I have an eMac & an iBook & it's a pain in the a@@ 2 always have to transfer music files back & forth using an external HD or downloading 2xs. Does anyone else have this problem & agree?

No, you cannot - using either iSync, .Mac Sync or the Backup application available to .Mac registered users.
iSync synchronizes only Calendars and Contacts, with mobile handsets and Palm handheld organizers or smartphones.
.Mac Sync synchronizes only Bookmarks, Calendars, Contacts, Keychains,
Mail Accounts and Mail Rules, Signatures and Smart Mailboxes with other Macintosh desktop and portable computers through .Mac, and with the .Mac servers themselves.
Backup will back up and restore your iTunes library to and from .Mac, external hard drives or removable media, but will not synchronize your library.
You are really asking the question in the wrong forum. You should consider posting your message in of the subcategories of the iTunes forum, here:

You could use an application like ChronoSync to synchronize your libraries, but you are liable to get the best advice about iTunes synchronization in the iTunes discussion areas. More information about ChronoSync is available here:

  • Sync iPad with another Mac

    Hi there,
I am on vacation far from original Mac that my iPad normally syncs to. I connected ti to Mac Mini I have here and iTunes does not see iPad at all! I would like to sync (load) some pictures sitting in Mac Mini to iPad. I would disable all other sync data, like music and contacts anyway. I looked under Settings and there under General Wi-Fi sync says that my Mac is away and Sync Now button is greyed out.. I don't really need WiFi sync, cable is fine, have it with me.
What is wrong here, why I can't do this things?
    Regards,
    Zack

Thanks for quick answer. So I can't reset this and then sync it back when I get back home to my regular Mac?

  • Using iTunes from another mac :)

    Hello,
is there any app (for mac) which allows me (or somebody) play/pause/skip/... music played on another mac? Something like the remote.app for iPhone.
I have mac, playing some music via Airport Express. When my girlfriend doesn't like the song, she has to tell me it and I have to skip it, so I would like to have some app, which allows my girlfriend to skip music on my mac via her mac.
We have Home Sharing enabled if that helps..
    Thanks

Thanks for idea Jolly, I know about screen sharing, but in my opinion, that is not so good solution for my problem. In the screen sharing solution, when I'm using computer and my girlfriend would want to change the song, she will disturb me from working. If she would use the remote app on iPhone, she will change the song and wouldn't have even notice it, which is good. So I'm looking for some similar app for mac, which will allows her to change the song without disturbing me.
Screen sharing is good, just in case I'm not working on my macbook but when I am working on it, it is not the optimal solution.

  • Syncing iTunes with another harddrive

    Hi,
I have a digital DJing package and i have all my songs within iTunes playlist, which my dj software reads. I want to take a backup with me wherever i go and i want to know whether there is anyway of syncing itunes songs and playlists as if it were an ipod? I mean 'like an ipod' so i can plug in my hard drive and it will sync automatically.
    Thanks, Ben

Not built into iTunes, no. You can set this up with various third-party utilities such as TuneRanger or a backup utility such as Memeo LifeAgent (which can automatically run a backup whenever you connect the backup volume).

  • Syncing iTunes between two macs, possible?

    Hi,
A feature I really miss is the possibility to sync my iTunes music between two computers.
For instance, If I buy one song on Mac1 it syncs with Mac2, with just a few mouseclicks or so.
Right now it can be quite chaotic to keep track of both libraries, and would be nice with a program or a feature that can update the libraries easy, not matter if i'm deleting songs, adding, changing location, and so on.
    Is this possible some how?
    Thanks in advance

There are a few utilities specifically designed to help you sync iTunes across different computers. You could begin your research by having a look at these for instance:
    TuneRanger
    SuperSync
    syncOtunes

  • Syncing iTunes on a mac and Outlook on a PC

    Hi,
I have a quick question. I have my music, videos and photos sitting on my mac at home. My outlook is on my work windows PC. If I buy an iPhone and want to sync with the mac for the music etc. and work my pc for outlook would this be possible?
    Thanks,
    Scott.

    Hi Scott,
I have had a few growing pains working out what to do on this exact subject and I am slowly getting there.
I am still working on it and will update as I proceed but I think I have the start of an answer. Most of the settings that can achieve this are within the iPhone and you need to ensure that these are set correctly to achieve what you want. At the moment I am changing these whilst my iPhone is connected to my Macbook G4 which is the computer I set up the iPhone with O2 the service provider in the UK when I got it last week.
I have MobileMe and work email account set up on my iPhone that are pushing email fine and dandy.
Here is the important bit, on your iPhone go into settings>mail, contacts, calendar>work email account. You will see the choice of ON or OFF for mail, contacts, calendar. Check these are all ON for your work email account and this will sync all the relevant Outlook data with no problem. Choose OFF for contacts and calendar on your personal email account and this will give you what you want. I currently have mail and bookmarks selected on my personal account this gives me the stuff I want on my iPhone.
You can then set up the other sync items through iTunes on the computer you normally sync the iPhone with.
At the moment, this looks like your iCal and Address book on your mac will remain empty but I will keep playing with the sync settings in iTunes until I find the way forward.
Still waiting for Apple to come up with a "private" setting for calendar entries like always happened when I added calendar events to my Nokia E60. I don't want work seeing what is going on there really. Unless, of course, there is another setting that I am missing for this.
    Cheers

  • Sync itunes library between macs

hello guys, i had a macbookpro for 2 years and i just bought a new i mac for home use and an airport extreme (new version with hard disk connection capabilities), and i did that for a reason. well my mbpro is packed with music and videos and i would like to remove them from this library. so the question that pops out: is there anyway to sync an itunes library to another one on the network or on airport extreme and put only may favorite and/or recently added, recently played content.

I have the same question, and can't seem to find an answer. I have 3 Mac computers - iMac, Macbook and Macbook Pro (yes I'm addicted to Apple products) and an iPhone. They are all on my networked via a 1TB Time Machine and I can "share" the iTunes libraries between the machines, but I would love to get every tune, app, and video on all the machines so the libraries are identical and they can all sync with my iPhone. Apparently, you can't use the "shared" libraries on the machine used to sync your iPhone. I've read one post (about a year old) about editing Hex and XML and the like, but that's too complicated for my skills. I'm trying to figure out why Apple would hamper their very best customers (and may I add, stockholder) by not allowing a single user of multiple computers to sync everything up. Its like the more money you spend on apple stuff, the more complicated your life gets - that just ain't right!

  • Accessing Voice Memos from iPhone when the iPhone is Sync'd to another Mac

Don't know if this is possible but...
    - Have an iPhone 4 sync'd to my home iMac and iTunes account - all good with lots of music sync'd (~16Gb worth)
    - Want to use the Voice Memo functionality for recording work stuff
    - Want to download/sync these Voice Memos to my work MacBook Pro that I have already authorised to access my home iTunes store account
When I attempt to sync music (only selecting 'Selected Playlists..." and check Include voice memos) I get a message stating that "all my current music will be replaced with songs from your iTunes library".......of which there are no songs on my Work MacBook Pro. So in effect I would lose all music already on my iPhone.
So it seems that I can only utilise the voice memos functionality (ie: download the voice files to a mac) on my iPhone 4 on the Mac/iTunes it is originally sync'd with. Seems rather counterproductive to me.
Does anyone know a way to do this without having to use third party software?
    Thanks in advance!

An alternative would be to switch to manual management of your iPhone.

  • Sync iTunes Win(Bootcamp)/Mac using the SAME Library

I know this question has ben asked a lot, but most of these questions are dealing with multiple physical units.
I have a Mac Pro Quad Core that is running Win7 under Bootcamp. Therefore, I am using the same hardware for both operating systems.
I have my iTunes Library (the whole Library, not just music files) pointing to a separate, internal drive. Both the Mac and Windows version of iTunes point to the same iTunes Library on the same drive. The Windows version of iTunes has Library organization turned off (mostly because the external drive is HFS+ and Windows gets cranky with that). To be clear: my iTunes Library lives on a drive that is not my boot drive and is not in my User Account directory.
I am using the Mac OS iTunes to manage, maintain and organize the Library. The PC version of iTunes is strictly used as a jukebox. There is no cross contamination of OSes as far as file acquisition. I even sync my iPhone solely on the Mac side.
For those unfamiliar with Bootcamp, the technology pushes me into either a Mac state or a PC state, I am not running the OSes concurrently.
What I would like is to have whatever file management I do Mac-side be reflected PC side without me having to re-import the Library every time I make a change.
Currently, if I add music on the Mac-side, or if I add comments, or anything else carried in the metadata, the changes will not reflect PC-side. I have to reimport the Library, which wipes my ratings and play count and is very annoying.
I would like to know if it is possible to set up the PC version of iTunes to simply update the Library automatically, so that any change I make on the Mac-side is already reflected in the Windows version. For instance, I manage my play lists by comments - so I have "AOR Classic Rock" as a comment entry. If I add this comment to 10 songs on my Mac, I would like the Windows version of iTunes to just have "AOR Classic Rock" in the comments without me having to reimport the songs that changed.
I do not expect reciprocity, since I don't believe Windows iTunes can change files on a Mac formatted drive, but that's okay. I just want the changes I make on the Mac to sync to the PC.
You would THINK that having iCoud, I could use iCloud to sync all my iTunes settings and my Windows iTunes would mirror my Mac iTunes (at least for playlist, count and ratings). I do not have iTunes Match and am debating if its worth the cost. If iTunes Match will create the sync scenario I am looking for, it may very well be worth it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You'll need to install the appropriate drivers, and possibly move the library to a disk in a different format, so that each operating system can read and write to the drive. Then there is no reason why you can't open the "same" library in either system, and thus it will always be up to date. Moving back & forth between the OSs should be no more difficult than opening the same library on an external drive on a number of different systems. Provided all the content is in a standard layout, media folder inside the iTunes library folder, it should just work.

  • How do I sync iTunes Library in Mac directly with IOS device if I use iTunes Match?

When I turned on Itunes Match on the iPad and iPhone, my entire iTunes Library imported from the Mac using the iTunes sync process was moved to the Cloud. However, this means that I have to download all my songs again on my iPhone and iPad. I have 6,700 classical music songs, and this would take days! Therefore, I'd like to sync the playlist in my iTunes Library in my Mac with the iPhone and iPad directly using the iTunes sync, so I do not have to download them again one by one. How do I do this?

Turn off iTunes match on the device temporarily and sync whatever you want from iTunes using the iTunes sync. When you turn iTunes match on again the synced content should be supplemented by the ability to download the remainder of your library, it should not be deleted.

  • Syncing apps with another Mac destroys all folders

So I'm trying to move all my apps, music, and podcasts to a different (faster) Mac that I want to sync with from now on.
When I go to the apps tab of my iPhone in iTunes, all my springboard pages are laid out exactly as they are on my iPhone -- just the way I want them. But when I turn on "Sync Apps", all the icons change position, all the folders are obliterated, and I see about 40 pages of apps that it wants me to organize.
How can I have iTunes respect the folders and icon placement of what already exists on my phone?

I tried that already. But iTunes didn't see any of my apps or music or podcasts.
So I moved everything into the "Add Automatically to iTunes folder" where everything loaded properly. So all the apps are installed in iTunes. I don't understand why it wants to completely change my layout.

  • Sync iPod with another Mac, is it possible?

I have a Mac Mini at home where I store every music on iTunes and use it to sync with my iPod nano.
Now I'm working abroad and I have with me my iBook G4. The iTunes on this machine is empty.
I would like to upload the most recent podcasts to my iPod nano but I can't just go home and do it. Can it be done on my iBook or I will loose every music I already have on my iPod?
Hope this makes sense. Sorry my poor english.
