Sync iTunes U PDFs

Hi,
I've set up syncing of all iTunes U lessons and this works perfectly for audio and video but not for the PDFs. I have to change the Media Kind to Book to get them synced with iBooks.
Did I miss how or where the iTunes U PDFs get synced automatically? Or is there a more convenient way to get them synced? At the moment when changing the Media Kind I'm loosing the order and any additional information of such PDFs.
Thanks!

They're not supposed to sync automatically, though I agree it would be nice if they did, presumably getting their own iTunes U collection automatically.

  • Sync my downloaded PDFs into iTunes

How do I do this? Before syncing, iTunes gave me a warning say that all books would be overwritten and I take that to mean PDFs I have downloaded as well.

  • Saved in my PC during sync with itunes, the PDFs DRAGGED TO THE FILES BOX

Saved in my PC during sync with itunes, the PDFs DRAGGED TO THE FILES BOX Of Aji iRead App or other pdf reader app, just below the list of Apps in itunes and the list in ipad show, in itunes sync screen?
If download wifi a pdf book, with pdf read app then after sync this would saved in PC?

iRead PDF has a link in its description to its developers website (http://www.ajidev.com/iread/index.html). In iTunes, with your iPad connected, you need to select the document(s) that you want to copy from iRead PDF to your computer (http://www.ajidev.com/iannotate/support/itunes.html - the iRead help on their website links to iAnnotate as they are the basically the same except that iAnnotate allows you to make notes).

  • I got an iphone 4. I had to update my macbook pro to Lepard just to sync. I updated to lepard. Now when I try to sync itunes does not recognize my new iphone 4 as mine and wants to erase everything I have bought using the phone.

I upgraded from Iphone 3g to iphone 4. I had to update my macbook pro to Lepard just to sync. the **** thing with the new iphone 4. I bought and updated to lepard. Now when I try to sync itunes does not recognize my new iphone 4 as mine and wants to erase everything I have bought using the phone before it will sync! It says everything on the phone now will be cleared in order to sync it with my existing info on the computer from my previous iphone. How can I just get everything from my current iphone 4 into itunes, basically add it to the info from my previous iphone 3g that is currently in my itunes?  I dont want to lose what I have on my phone currently....I paid money for half the apps for crying out loud.
I was so frustrated by this when I first bought the phone that I just pushed it out of my mind and NEVER synced it. Please help...

Nope - you cannot restore a backup from a newer iOS version on to a device running an older iOS version.  The reverse works, but in your case to use your backup, you must update to iOS 7.0.3 - no other option if you want to use that backup.

  • Syncing iTunes libraries between 2 computers

Does anyone know how to sync iTunes between 2 computers? I have 2 macs in my home (one with an external drive that holds all of my music). I can get both computers to see and operate from the music files in a single location but I can't seem to figure out how to have any changes to my library, playlists, etc. made on one computer to automatically show up on the other in iTunes. Does this have something to do with the iTunes library.itl file?
If so, do I have to copy the iTunes library.itl file from the computer on which I have made the most recent changes and then delete this file from the other computer and drop the recently modified iTunes library.itl file into the music folder on the unmodified computer? Will this effectively sync both libraries? If so, is there a program that will automatically schedule this procedure for me. I am in the process of sorting through 5000+ duplicates (fun, I know) and I don't want to do it twice.
    Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Thanks guys. The shared music works fine but as noted in the second response, playlists, etc. are not available on both computers at the same time. I like jase's suggestion, but since I will only need to copy one iTunes library file & paste over another to keep both libraries in sync, I think that will be the way to go. I will give the alias library file a whirl because that may work fine since both computers can make changes. I do not have the concern of both computers using the files at the same time. Only one computer will every use it. My mac mini core duo is in with my theater rack stuff. Everything is played from there. My iMac G5 is at my desk. I just need them in sync because it is infinately easier to make changes sitting at a desk than it is with a keyboard and mouse on my lap on a couch from 15 feet away from the screen.
    Thanks for the feedback.

P.S. - Has anyone heard of the bluetooth trackball called "The Ball" from Chwang Yi? I want to buy it, and the website claims to sell it - I just can't seem to find a single link leading to a purchase page of any kind. Any thoughts?

    Hello Midori55,
Take a look at this article named iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one found http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589 to direct iTunes to open the library you copied over.
I would also change the location of the library in the iTunes preferences
iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449
    Open iTunes.
From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
Click the Advanced button in the Preferences window.
Click the Change button in the iTunes Media folder location pane.
In the Change Media Folder Location window that appears, navigate to the location where you would like your new iTunes Media folder to be created.
Note: By default, your iTunes Media folder is a folder named "iTunes Media" in ~/Music/iTunes/ where the tilde "~" represents your home directory.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • HT1414 I am unable to sync iTunes or iPhoto.  I get error message 1140.

I have a new iPhone 5.  I am unable to sync iTunes or iPhoto to it.  I get an error message every time "iPhone cannot be synced.  Unknown Error 1140".  I'm using OS 10.8.2 and IOS 6.  Does anyone know if there is a fix on the way from Apple for this?

Download and install the iPhoto 9.4.1 update, which was just released today. It may be the answer to your problems:

  • Tried to sync iPod Touch, noted "new" iTunes. iPod won't sync ("iTunes is unable to load data class information from Sync Services"). Tried the fix, but iTunes hangs when I try to open Preferences.

Just tried to download new audiobooks to my iPod Touch 3, and noted new iTunes. iPod won't sync ("iTunes is unable to load data class information from Sync Services"). Tried to Reset Sync History per Support Article, but it didn't work. My purchased audiobooks are also gone from my iTunes Library.  Any fix, or is my best bet to uninstall new iTunes and reload earlier version??

  • One iCloud ID, but two different iTunes Store ID's... possible to sync iTunes Match?

I tried searching around for an answer on this... a lot of people seem to be having issues when working off of a single Apple ID for the iTunes Store, but in my case my wife and I both use a single account for iCloud syncing but we have our own separate accounts for purchases in the App Store (we each have an iPhone 4S). My question is; if I subscribed to iTunes Match under my Apple ID which I use for my iTunes Store account... is there any way to extend our library of music to my wife's iPhone as well? On mine it's easy enough since it's linked to my Apple ID. But on my wife's iPhone, when she tries to add iTunes Match it asks for the password to her own iTunes Store Apple ID which is totally separate from mine and which is not subscribed to iTunes Match.
In other words; is there any way to link iTunes Match to the iCloud ID instead of the iTunes Store ID?? Since we share the same iCloud ID (and it happens to be my Apple ID for iTunes Store as well) and since I thought this whole iTunes Match service was a part of "iCloud", I didn't think it would be a problem. But if I go onto my wife's iPhone and change her "Store" ID in Settings, won't this screw up all her previously-purchased apps? Would it work if I changed her Store ID on her iPhone, enabled iTunes Match, and then changed her Store ID back to her own? I somehow doubt it.
I'm assuming there is no way to segregate an ID my wife uses for App Purchases from an ID we share for iCloud / iTunes match?
Hope some of the above made sense, thanks for any help. I'm expecting an answer along the lines of "until you can merge ID's, you're out of luck" but hoping for another solution!

Appreciate the response. I actually ended up tweeting Serenity (author of that article at Macworld) who wrote another article all about iTunes Match:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/163658/2011/11/itunes_match_what_you_need_to_kno w.html
However, nothing seemed to specifically adress my issue of having multiple ID's for iTunes purchases. But Serenity explained via Twitter that our best bet was to simply put my Apple ID onto my wife's phone and essentially "abandon" her old iTunes ID that she was previously using for purchases. The downside of this is that she won't be able to access her prior purchased iOS apps in the cloud, and of course her future purchases will now be tied to my credit card . But there doesn't seem to be any other way around it. I would have loved if Apple let us use our "iCloud Apple ID" instead of the "iTunes Apple ID" for syncing "iTunes in the Cloud". That way, my wife could have continued to use her separate Apple ID for app purchases, but we would be able to share the same music library across devices. Oh well!

  • HT1692 Have recently installed itunes and outlook on a new computer.  Have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, Help!

My new computer is 64-bit running Windows 7 pro, SP1 and Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus 32-bit
My phone is a 4S runing iOS 6.1.3
Very frustrated now that I have recently installed itunes and outlook on this new computer.  Everything worked perfectly ok on my laptop which was also 64-bit Windows 7 and running 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Pro.  I have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, when I sync the calendar and contacts are empty.  Not sure if there is any way to point itunes to particular address books and calendars.
I have installed and uninstalled itunes 3 times and thank goodness have a backup
    Can anyone help please?
    thanks in anticipation

I had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result).

  • Bought a new Ipod for daughter for Xmas. How can I use ICLOUD to sync Itunes only to her IPOD

Bought a new Ipod for daughter for Xmas. How can I use ICLOUD to sync Itunes only to her IPOD and not everything else on my iphone etc?

On the iPod turn off iCloud for calender, contacts and other things (Settings>iCloud) and turn off automatic downloading for apps and books (Settings>Store).
Aldso go to Settings Messages and Facetime and add her own email calling/messaging address and delete the Apple ID calling/messaging address.

  • Auto Sync iTunes Libraries between Macbook and Mac Mini?

I download and store all of my music on my Mac book. But I would like to know if it is possible to make it so that, if I add 3 songs to my macbook, my Mac Mini will reflect the same changes, and vice versa. Kind of like what Mobile Me does with iCal and Contacts.
So If I add a song on my Macbook, my home network would transfer the song to my Mac Mini and update the iTunes library?
And I'd rather not use an external network drive to keep my library on, because I need my music physically on my Macbook.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance.

There are a few utilities specifically designed to help you sync iTunes across different computers. You could begin your research by having a look at these for instance:
    TuneRanger
    SuperSync
    syncOtunes

A few days ago i small piece of plastic got stuck and subsequently fell out the charger hole of my ipod classic, although it still connects to itunes and syncs itunes says it has synced but there is nothing on my ipod! I have done this a few times and nothing seems to work! HELP! :/

Transfer all of your content to the computer:
Tunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
Then try turning the device off and on again. I'd leave it off for 10-15 minutes, but that is up to you:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the item is still there, you may need to restore the device:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Hope that helps . Worst case scenario, you may need to write into iTunes support to see if they can also help!!
