Sync, Mail, menu bar, iPhone

After updatig to 10.7.2 and tranferring to i Colud:
My Sync menu bar icon is still existant av make the menu bar hang when toggeled.
System Prefs icon "MobileMe" is also still there, and marking the Syncronize tab makes the System Prefs freeze.
Mail won't quit due to something like "registering syncronice prefs" (my translation from norwegian, see picture).
The sync between iTunes and iPhone is also extremely slow, probably of same sync reason.
Anyone?

Yes, I did read "the manual". Both the official site and several others. And I think I did it right, - or not (?). When the "MailSyncPref" referred to in Mail has been working for a while (~5 min.) it disappears, and I can quit Mail, access menu bar and sync iPhone through iTunes. Still it seems to work very slow. The only thing I've not done yet is to backup to iCloud, because I worry that the system will be occupied rest of the day/night.
Still someone out there with a good idea?

  • Lion and Mail menu bars

Does anyone else think the Mac team got in a hurry on Lion?  Why are they using the old trash can and info button in the menu bars. In fact, all the icons in the finder and mail menu bars look old fashioned. I'll bet Steve didn't see them!

No. Snow Leopard's Mail isn't compatible w/Lion's, so it needs to do the conversion to be usable. Maybe you should consider trimming the number of e-mails you've storred.

  • How do I sync mail from my iphone to my ipad

How do I sync mail between my iphone and ipad?

Changing from POP3 to IMAP is a function of your email provider. You need to check with them to see if they even offer IMAP. Some do and some do not. If they do not your choices are to 1) configure email on the PC/iPad to keep Mail on the mail server or 2) change email providers to something like Gmail or Outlook.com (as examples).
This may help if you do not want to or can not switch to IMAP...

  • Syncing mail on iPad, iphone, & mac Pro using Cloud

I use mail app on my Mac Pro to view my gmail account, now with iCloud how do I sync my mail on my mac pro, iPhone, & iPad so they are all updated as one account.  Currently I my mail on my iPhone and iPad update with each, but my mail on my Mac Pro does not.  I thought when I updated to Lion I would be able to use iCloud to solve this problem, but it has not.

That depends on the email service you are using. If the gmail account is an IMAP account, it should work the same as iCloud mail and stay in sync. The only difference being that you would need to set your gmail account up on each device manually.

  • 'MobileMe / Sync Now' menu bar item

A MobileMe / Sync Now icon has appeared on my menu bar in Finder (2 semicircular clockwise arrows), which I am unable to remove. I cannot see a check box in System Preferences>MobileMe giving me the option to show / remove this icon. Is there another way of doing this?

Launch iSync and open its preferences. You should see an option to "Show status in menu bar". You can also often remove items from the right side of the menu bar by doing a command-drag.

  • Not syncing mail between iMac, iPhone, iCloud

I'm not syncing mail between devices.
Email sent with iMac doesn't show on iPhone (and vice versa).
No mail sent with either iMac or iPhone is showing on iCloud.
    Please help!

AFTER I asked the question, then the answer presented itself in a list of previously asked questions!  (And I had looked before too.)  It involves "Signing Out" of iCloud with the iMac, and with the iPhone.  Then I signed in again. It was scary (took a long time) getting the mail loaded again, but it seems to be working now.

  • Missing MAIL menu bar(s)

I haven't written about this before because I wasn't sure that something was really missing. I had thought that maybe I was "remembering" something that never really existed. Today, however, I remembered that there definitely used to be a RETURN button on a MAIL bar (menu or tool). More important to me than the RETURN button, though, were other buttons that I had installed, such as size (bigger or smaller). I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to recover the missing bar(s).

There was definitely a RETURN button. Of that, there is no doubt. I used it to reply to E-mail messages, but I can't do that anymore, at least not as easily. However, thanks for the link. I'm hoping that I can find some of the buttons that I used to have.

  • IMac not syncing Mail read on iPhone

I have just started using an iPhone 5s on iOS 8.1.2. Mail is working perfectly and showing all my imap accounts. However, anything that I've looked at on the phone (even if I've not read it) does not show on my iMac (Yosemite 10.10.1) Mail (8.1). The iPad Mail, which I've been using for years, is continuing to sync fine and doesn't appear to block messages reaching the iMac. Can't find any similar threads online so I'm hoping you can help please...

I've fixed it! I put the IMAP Path Prefix in the Advanced tab of the Accounts page and it now seems to be working. No idea why this has suddenly become a problem. Other mail accounts I have set up don't have this entered and didn't seem to have a problem. I've unticked the automatically detect and maintain account settings too so that it doesn't get deleted.

  • Help - My mail menu bar has changed languages!

Mail - changed into another language and will not work. Help????

... as I said, you can get it back via Customize Toolbar.
Either or both of two situations can apply in this situation:
    1) The Toolbar is hidden, and therefore needs to be displayed again, which can be accomplished with the menu command *View > Show Toolbar*.
    2) The "Address and Search" item in the toolbar has been removed, which can be replaced using *View > Customize Toolbar* and dragging that item back into the Toolbar.
When the problem in #1 is the situation, solution #2 doesn't help because, after following those instructions, the toolbar is still hidden.

  • ITunes cannot sync mail accounts because Iphone cancels sync?

I get the above message when I try to sync my iPhone with my iMac. Does anyone know a fix?

Usually when itunes cancels a sync, something itunes was trying to sync is corrupted.
When you sync the iphone to you imac, try syncing one category at a time to see what is canceling the sync.
First, sync just music and nothing else.
Then if music sync, try movies or video.
Keep going through the tabs adding on one thing at a time until you get the error message.
When you get the error message, you know that something in that last category is corrupted.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone syncing Mail application forever

When I go to sync my iPhone 3G it stays on Syncing mail accounts with "iPhone" forever......I stopped it after it had been running this way for 3 hours....what is going on and how do I fix it?

Just had that problem today and found the cause. What it will be is that there will be a dialogue box saying that more than 5% of your calendars or contacts have changed and it wants to know if it is okay to continue the sync - the trouble is that the dialogue box is in the background!!!! Just minimise all your open windows and you will see the box sitting there awaiting your input! Silly bug that should have been fixed.
    Hope that helps.

  • Error message when syncing mail

when I went to sync my iphone today this message appeared.
itunes could not sync mail accounts to iphone. because an error occurred remapping record identifiers
I do not know how to fix this error or what could be wrong...
the iphone will not continue to sync after that.
    thanks

This was addressed in a previous post:
On the next sync, try going into the info tab in itunes and uncheck sync email accounts.
Then click apply in the bottom right corner.
Close itunes and disconnect the iphone.
Now open isync in your applications folder.
Open isync in your applications folder.
    Open the isync preferences.
    Reset sync history.
Once sync history is reset, you can try opening itunes, connect the iphone and try syncing again.
If the error still occurs, you can leave the option to sync accounts to the iphone unchecked since this does not mess with sending or receiving mail on the iphone.
    Hope this helps.

  • What does 'sync mail' actually do?

When i hook my iphone up to the computer and itunes opens, what exactly does the 'sync mail' option do? i don't have that option checked when my wife connects her phone.

If you have any email accounts set up on your Mac's Mail app and you select to "sync mail" with the iPhone the accounts you select to sync will show up on the iPhone's Mail application also
It is not necessary to select to sync mail each time you sync your phone, once the email accounts are on the iPhone you can deselect to sync mail since the email settings (incoming and outgoing servers) are the only things that are synced

  • Need some help. The top menu bar disappears when in an app...?????

I recently came across a problem that when I go into an application, for example MAIL, the above menu bar disappears. I am not able to access anything that would be in the above MAIL menu bar. I am still able to write/send/check mail but if I wanted to edit or change something the bar is not there. When I minimize MAIL or any other application I'm in and click on the desktop then the finder menu bar appears again. I'm not sure how to fix this...Thanks for any help someone can offer.

Try restarting the Mac and see if that helps.

  • Sync Mail between multiple devices

Can anyone help? I own a MacBook Pro, an iMac, an iPhone, and iPad. I have managed to sync mail between the iPhone and the iPad using Microsoft exchange, so that if I delete an e-mail on the phone or the iPad then it is deleted on the other.
However I can't sync the two computers in the same way, can anyone help and tell me how to sync Mail across all 4 units?
(I used Exchange because the e-mail account is a Hotmail account and I was told, that's the only way I can do it).
    Regards and thanks in advance.
    Colin

Microsoft publish the settings needed for Hotmail Imap, they work, use them.
    They are:
    For incoming connections:
    Server address: "imap-mail.outlook.com"
    Server port: "993"
    Encryption type: "SSL"
    For outgoing connections:
    Server address: "smtp-mail.outlook.com"
    Server port: "587"
Encryption type: "TLS" ("SSL" can be used if TLS is not an option)
