Sync mail on iOS devices and a PC with icloud

Is it possible to sync mail on iOS devices and a PC with icloud such that when a mail is deleted on one device it is deleted on all devices?

You should be able to use iCloud mail on your Mac, however you will have to enter the settings manually. Unfortunately you will not be able to use the other features of iCloud for which lion is required. (calendars, contacts etc)

  • Exchange calendar sync issues among iOS devices and Mavericks

When I add an event to a shared Exchange calendar on my Mac in iCal, and mark it as All-Day, that designation does not appear with the event on my iOS devices. Instead, it's given a 24-hour duration from 12 to 12, so to speak. Here's the confusing part: If I edit the event on my iPhone to correct it as All-Day, it does not sync that All-Day designation to my iPad. Additionally, if I then make the same correction on the iPad, toggles it on the phone and removes All-Day. Removal of All-Day designation on a device does remove it on the Mac calendar, which I then have to change back. So I chase it around in a circle and end up with the correct duration on only one iOS device. The difference in All-Day and 24 hours duration does matter graphically as many of these events run for several weeks or months. All-Day keeps them confined to the upper section of the calendar graph rather than muddying up the lowerm hourly appointments.
Any ideas on how to rectify the problem?
I'm running Mavericks, iOS 7.0.3 and using MS Exchange 2010.

There are several other posters on the Forums that are having issues with Exchange sync'ing with Mavericks. It could be that your all-day verses mutli-hour issue may be among them.
Most of the problems that people are seeing, including myself, are more to do with Mail and Calendar simply not synchronizing.
My Mail.app INBOX for my Exchange server is now several hours behind my iOS and Windows Outlook instances. Calendar appointments are simply not being pushed to the server (though they seem to be retrieved OK).
So, sorry for now help on this one directly, but you are not alone.

  • Sync problems between iOS devices and iMac desktop

    Hi Folks,
I am having an odd prolem which has started to cause me some concerns with possible lost contacts.   I have been adding contacts normally using my iPhone especially when out and about.  Sometimes to make the typing a bit easier I have done it in a web browser into iCloud or on my desktop iMac.  All sounds normal right ?
Having been searching for some contacts I have suddenly been unable to find them, weird - I am sure I put that guy in there a few days ago.   Ok so look in the iPhone contacts and its there, look on the ipad and its there, but in the web access icould it not.   Stuff entered on the iphone or ipad do sync to ech other, but apparently somehow bypassing the web accessed icloud.
Dig a bit deeper and find that about 300 out of 3500 contacts are not in all places.
Contacts added on the iphone are in the ipad and vice versa, but they arent on the icloud web or in the iMac on my desk.
Has anybody got any ideas whats going on here ?  I do knwo that I often see at the foot of a contact in the iphone LINKED contacts that have all the same details.
Can somebody please xplain what all these different data sets are and how can I get them all merged into one set and have that data everywhere ??
    Any advice much appreciated
    Thank you !

    On the iMac open iCal.
From the menu bar click iCal > Preferences then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Select iCloud on the left under Accounts.
Make sure:  Enable this account is selected
And select Push from the pop up menu next to:  Referesh Calendars
    Now reset your iOS devices.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Manually sync Notes and Safari bookmarks via USB cable for iOS device and an iMac with MacOS 10.7 Lion and iTunes 11

"I'm aware that with MacOS 10.8 Mountain Lion there is no support for USB cable sync of iOS devices." Notes and Safari Bookmarks cannot longer be sync via USB cable with iTunes. For owners of iPhone 3G that cannot upgraded the device to a version higher than iOS 4.2, syncing Notes and Safari Bookmarks via usb cable with iTunes is the only option we have. There is no iCloud integration for Notes and Safari Bookmarks under iOS 4.2. I'm not updating to MacOS 10.8, because there is no way to sync Notes and Safari Bookmarks via cable. So I won't be able to sync those anymore unless I upgrade to a newer model of iPhone. I'm not into a new hardware investment, at least not for now. I just want to know if iTunes 11 running in MacOS 10.7 Lion still have the functionality of sync Notes and Safari Bookmarks via USB cable.

Mac OS 10.7.5 and iTunes 11.0.4.

    Yes.
If you are sincing Notes via iCloud, iTunes will tell you so.
If you change the iDevice - Settings> iCloud > Notes - Off, they sync (or not sync) thru iTunes (either wifi or cable).
So my question now would be:
Is "Notes" manual sync checkbox option provided under "Others" in iTunes 11.0.1 with MacOS 10.7 Lion?
If you change the iDevice - Settings> iCloud > Notes - Off, then yes.

  • HT4759 Contacts on my IOS device will not merge with iCloud.

Despite all aspects of iCloud being turned on, my contacts and calendar entries are not merging with the cloud. Have used trouble shhoting tips to no avail. I am contemplating deleteing the account and starting over.

To get the contacts that belong to your non-iCoud account(s) into iCloud, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from your non-iCloud accounts you will need the “Pro” version.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from the other accounts) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap each of the non-cloud accounts that you are syncing contacts with and turn off contacts syncing with these other accounts (otherwise you will see duplicate contacts on your phone).
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the other accounts back to your phone, and to iCloud.  All your contacts should now be in iCloud.

  • Using Mac mail on iOS devices and Leopard Mac problem

My Mac is one of the last dual core types and can't upgrade to Lion.  But I have an iPhone and iPad that are upgraded to Cloud.  Now if I am able to get my Mobileme mail  on the mac, I can't on the other devices.  And if on the others, not on the Mac.  Is it possible to access the same Cloud account on all devices?  I've been through this with Apple and they say no problem.  But it does not work.  Can anyone walke me through it.  I have checked the Apple instruction sheet on this to no avail.

  • Where can you check to see the amount of devices associate/signed in with iCloud?

When I log into my Apple ID via iTunes I only have 3 devices (iPad, iPhone, PC) associated to my Apple ID, yet when I tried to restore my info from my iCloud to a newly purchased iPhone 5, this message pops up:
"You've reached your device limit. Apple Id has already restored to the maximmum number of devices in the last 90 days."
I had to reset my old iPhone to factory settings twice before, but when I did it, I did not first log out of my iCloud account before I reset the iphone to factory settings. Did that action affect the Apple device count, even though the device's are not listed anymore?

When viewing your Apple ID account in iTunes, click on the Manage Devices link under iTunes in the Cloud.  This will list all iOS devices and computers associated with the ID.  If you have fewer than 5 computers and 10 total devices associated with your ID you shouldn't be getting this error and should contact iTunes store support for assistance: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.
Resetting your device without signing out of iCloud shouldn't effect this at all.

  • Mail on iOS 5 and iCloud sync (Mails are not marked as read when I read them on my MacBook)

    Hello everyone,
I am an iOS 5 and OS X Lion User in Germany and I have following question concering Mail on iOS 5 and iCloud.
I have a MacBook Pro 13" with OS X Lion 10.7.2 and an iPhone 4 with iOS 5. I also have an iCloud account (I switched yesterday from MobileMe).
When I receive a new e-Mail it will be pushed immediately to my iPhone an my MacBook. When I open this new e-mail on my iPhone, it is immediately marked as read on my MacBook. But when I open the new e-mail on my MacBook, it is not marked as read on my iPhone. I have manually to sync mail first.
Does anyone know if this feature is not supported on iCloud and iOS 5? Thanks for your help!

Add me to the list of people having this problem.
I have 1 Gmail account a 2 Google Apps accounts and this happens with all 3. If I read a messaging in Mail.app, it DOES get marked read on my iPod Touch, though.
If I read the emails on my iPod Touch, BlackBerry, or Gmail web interface, the read status does not get synced back to Mail.app unless I close and re-open it.
Not sure if this is an Apple issue or a Gmail issue, but it's VERY annoying and somewhat defeats the purpose of using IMAP.

Some email images do not show while using the icloud web app.  I can see the images on my IOS devices and in gmail but I only see a small gray box in the icloud web mail app.  Load HTML images is checked in preferences.  Is there a solution to this issue?

I've seen the opposite issue.  My wife recieved an email with jpg attachments.  She couldn't see or print them on her iPhone 4S but they showed up fine in iCloud or in the mail app.  I had her forward the email to herself and then they showed up.  I assume there is an issue with how Apple is processing the attachments and resending causes them to get reformatted in a way that makes them easier to handle.
So yeah.  Seems like some bugs.  Hope Apple fixes them soon.

  • How can one sync a) Albums to all my iOS devices and b) Photos

    1/It is evident to me that only My Photostream is automatically uploading/ syncing ( within the number of 1000) pics;
but Each iOs- device may have a different Photostream ( eg: if activated at different times, previously)
2/ since Photostream will then delete ( algorithms unknown) an unknown number of photos, to stay<1000,
    saving is necessary:
one would either save them in Photos/ . (?)
Someone here has suggested to take the content of Photostream and create a new Album ( eg: "From Photostream_ Date"),
and transfer ALL images thereto, from time to time (?)
    - it would be helpful if syncing is also  possible on the Album level ( via iTunes ??)
    - OR: are the Albums strictly collections on the respective iOs - device, (and the Mac ?), eventually
containing different Photos (!), ie : Albums are on the device - level (?)
->> Having said so, Can one sync on the Album level ?
    - OR somehow also on the Photo- level ?
3/ when is the best time, to save the My Photostream
Sorry , if too many Q's

    My Qs were more specific
It is easier to answer specific question, when I know whch options you are having on your computers. I.e. I wondered if you would be able to use Shared PhotoStreams  instead of My Photo Stream, but that would require MacOS X 10.9. at least, see: iCloud: Using and troubleshooting Shared Photo Streams
    ( pls see above): 1/ I was assuming that via iCloud only " my Photostream" is distributed onto all aktivated iOs- devices;
The Photostream "My Photo Stream" uses a buffer in iCloud: Each device will upload the most recent (last month)  photos saved to the Camera Roll, if Photo Stream is enabled and any photo you share to the stream. The buffer in iCloud will only keep the photos for a month - it is meant as a streaming buffer and not as a storage. And the stream you are seeing on your devices is fed from this buffer. Depending on when you activate Photo Stream on the devices they will show different selections of photos - it depends on what is currently in iCloud. With IOS 7.0.4 you could also stream to Shared Streams, and they will keep all photos in iCloud, only you would need to upgrade.
    - having said so: does iCloud then back up my Camera Roll ( Photos)  in toto ?
Your Photostream is generated automatically from all photos saved to your camera roll, so if you keep all photos in your camera roll and save any new photos from the Photo Stream to your camera roll, they will all be backed up, inclding any videos in your camera roll. This list describes in detail, what automatically will be backed up in iCloud over Wi-Fi:
See: iCloud: Backup and restore overview
2/ the 2nd Q posed was: Is there a mechanism to save/ backup on the Album level ( I guessed it can be done via iTunes), but also through iCloud (??)
That is exactly, why I asked for your system versions: if you could create Shared Streams, you could use 100 separate streams just like albums, and all would be stored in iCloud.
But there is no way to structure "My Photo Stream".
But the iCloud backup of your devices will include all application data, so albums you define in the Photos app will also be included, only not the photos synced to your device using iTunes, unless you save them to the camera roll.
    - Does one then HAVE TO make b/u via iTunes for EACH iOs device ( and of course the whole Library file
You can make your iCloud backup using Wi-Fi ( iCloud: Backup and restore overview), but you will have more control over it, when you create the backup using iTunes. And syncing using USB is faster than Wi-Fi.
4/ Does one have to save (B/U) as well via iTunes into the iPhoto library,
    as also via iCloud (?)
It is recommended: the iCloud backup of your IOS devices will enable you to restore your devices directly from iCloud, but a separate backup in iTunes will make it possible to restore a new replacement device from the backup, if your iPad, iPhone will be stolen, lost, or defective. And you can access the iTunes backup even when the network is down, or there is a problem with your iCloud account.
iPhoto library: When you automatically import the photoStream into your iPhoto library on your Mac, any backup of your iPhoto library will be a backup of your Photo Stream photos as well. I'd create the albums in iPhoto on your Mac.

A remark about Photostream : its deletion logic for pics, once 1000 is reached is intransparent
This is explaine d by the fact that "my Photo Stream" is not meant to be a storage, just a transient buffer. You have one month time to grab your photos from the stream, and then they will be removed, consider it to be a stream of photos that you are viewing from a narrow window. You are supposed to download the photos to your camera roll or to an event on your mac, as soon as you are seein it in the stream. After a month it will be gone.

  • Why won't Apple allow WiFi sync'g of iOS devices on PowerPC Macs running OS 10.5.8 and latest iTunes?

Another note, I can't believe that after all of this time with the new discussion boards, you still can't edit posts from any of Apple's iOS devices.
I posted this on my iPAd and had to just edit this from my Mac because I accidentally posted this question before I finished.
    Royal Pain!

My Mac connects to the Internet via WiFi through a WifI card. I am running OS X 10.5.8 and the latest update of iTunes to find that Apple has (I think) artificially, not allowed sync'g of iOS devices on 10.5.8. This option is greyed out and says for OS 10.6 and above only.
Why impose this limit if we Leopard users can still use the latest version of iTunes and have WiFi capabiltity to do so?

  • All my mail have disappeared From my mac and my iOS devices. Seemingly from the iCloud server as well. How can I recover them?

All my mail have disappeared from my mac and my iOS devices. Seemingly from the iCloud server as well. How can I recover them?

Well, you can't since the emails are stored on icloud's mail server.  Try this test, using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and check the mail page.  If they are gone, then they are really gone.
Now, I thought I could go into a Time Machine backup and view old emails from a day ago.  Unfortunately, Time Machine doesn't seem to save icloud based email, since regardless of the past date I go to, only the current emails show up, not older ones.  My conclusion is that I wouldn 't be able to recover them from a TM backup.
What had you been doing on the mac or device that causes emails to be deleted?  (I hope you don't have a family member or friend using the same icloud account - they may have deleted all emails by mistake.)

  • Syncing Mail Notifications Between Mac and iPhone

    Hi
I been having this problem with the mail notifications not syncing between the Mail.app on my MacBook Pro and iPhone. Let me explain:
When I get a new email, I hear the sound and see the red notification icon appear on both the MacBook and the iphone. When it comes to checking the new email, here are the two possible scenarios:
    a) If I check the new email on my phone, the red notification icon disappears from BOTH the iphone and the MacBook.
    b) If I check the new email on my MacBook, the red notification disappears from the MacBook but DOESN'T disappears from the iPhone (that is until I open the app). This happens with both cases, when the app is "running" in the background or when it is complety closed.
I don't know if I am crazy but I am pretty sure that both of the notifications used to disappear before, no matter where I checked the mail.
I tried deleting and creating the email again on my phone, and it didn't work.
Here some info that could help find a solution:
    - I'm using icloud email (@me.com)
    MacBook
    -Mountain Lion
    iPhone:
    - iOS 6 (this problem started before the upgrade)
    - Push is on.
    - Fetch (that suppodselly would be used only if push is off) is set to Manually.
    - On the "Advanced" sub-menu inside the Mail settings, Push is also selected.
Hopefully this can actually be fix and I can prove myself that I was not crazy!!
Thanks in advance for the help!!

Anyone find a fix for this problem? I've been waiting for this since notification syncing was announced a couple years ago with iOS 6. I use iCloud for my email and find it very frustrating that when I read an email on my Mac or on iCoud.com that it doesn't automatically dismiss the notifications for those emails on my iOS devices until I open the mail app on each iOS device. Notification syncing works great with other apps. With iMessages, for example, when I read a message on my Mac running Yosemite, the notifications disappear on my iOS devices without opening the messages app (badge app icon, home screen notifications and notification center). Why can't they figure this out with email? I remember at my old job, I had an exchange account that properly synced mail notifications between devices, but it has never worked with my iCloud email. I wonder if I am just missing a particular setting or if Apple just blew it here. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
