Sync mail... push mail?.... ???

hello,
can you answer me this?
as far as i understand: push email is a type of mail that will force new emails to your iphone as they're sent by the person. aka, you don't have to click the mail aplication to check for new mail. is this all push mail does?
my concern is syncing mail... i use gmail. but, my iphone downloads mail messages that i've already read on my computer and marks them as unread. also, messages that i've read on my i phone show up on my laptop marked as unread.
additionally, after i sync my iphone, the mail messages that i've already read on my laptop will remain marked unread on the iphone. the status of "read" doesn't sync to the mail program.
is there any way to change this...any way to make my read messages sync between the two devices?

The GMail account is a POP email account. It shows the unread emails on all devices so you can see all your emails from each device.

Mail pushes, Contacts & Calendars disappeared

iPhone first generation worked fine with "pushed" mail, calendars, contacts etc.
After the iPhone software upgrade (but I cannot say that it was linked to that upgrade. thpugh I did not see it before), now all my contgacts and all calendars are gone on the iPhone. They are still there on my computers and "in the cloud" on www.me.com, but not on my iPhone. I visited the Genius Bar at the London Apple Store, and at least the showed me how to go back to iTunes syncing of calendars and contacts (switching off syncing under Accounts on the iPhone). so now I got the important stuff back. But switching on Mobile.me synching again will very nicely sweep away all contacta and calendars in front of my eyes...
Mail is working nicely with mobile.me synching, though.
Very frustrating.
Happy if anyonw has a clue.

Try double clicking the home button. This should bring up a single row of apps. Hold down on one of them until they all start to wiggle with the little red circle with a minus in it. Find the mail and contacts apps and tap on those red circles. It's kind of a force quit for the app. Then try to reopen your mail and see if it'll let you in.
You can also look up on the right of this screen and see if there's any answers in the 'more like this' box.

Hotmail push mail service on Nokia E7 temporary un...

Hi i bought my nokia E7 three months ago and since last week my hotmail push mail service has stopped. I tried to solve by deleting mail box from my nokia E7 and re setup it. However, since last whole week it has been giving an error saying service temporary unavailable. So i cannot use homtail service on my phone now while my other account is working fine which is on gmail. Can you help me to solve this problem as i really want hotmail serivce. Nokia e72 push mail not working plus internet conn...

i bought nokia e72 yesterday for its free push mail. then i set up my yahoo and gmail account on it. but first problem is that its not working untill i manually sync it and the second problem is my internet connectivity icon always remain on the topleft corner of the screen.. plsease help me out with my problem....this is really annoying.

As far as I know the way it works is that (1) your phone maintains a connection with (one of the) Nokia servers, so that as soon as the Nokia server has anything to say (e.g. "new e-mail"), your phone gets it; and (2) the Nokia servers fetch your e-mails so that (1) can work.
Now, I don't know how (2) works. In theory the Nokia server should act like an IMAP client, and should be using IDLE in order to fetch the e-mails as soon as the server gets them.
I don't use Nokia Messaging anymore (I now prefer Profimail on my E75), but for some time I did research a bit on that topic, and noticed that the Nokia server was making an IMAP connection to my e-mails server (fastmail.fm) every 15min, i.e. not keeping it open permanently using IDLE. It may be that during those 15min sessions IDLE was used, and then the Nokia server simply decided to close and re-open the connection. That may sound illogical, but perhaps it's more reliable this way.
In any case, I was getting my e-mails on the phone instantly, i.e. the reconnection every 15min had no impact on the actual push delivery.
Apparently there are many people having problems with Nokia Messaging. I don't know if Gmail or Yahoo allow you to see a connection log, but if they do, please have a look and see if and how often a server from Nokia/Finland is connecting to your IMAP server.
Also, I would just in case log on on email.nokia.com and make sure that your account is active (the E72 should give you a lifetime subscription, but please double check).

Question about push mail via Mail2Web.

I'm assuming Mail2Web is probably the best solution for me, but correct me if I'm wrong... I currently have my own email domain and IMAP service through Bluehost.com. I use Outlook 2007. If I want mail pushed to my iPhone, but want to keep my own personal email address and sync with my Outlook Mail, Contacts and Calendar, can Mail2Web's Personal Exchange service do this for me? Also, can I add my wife's account as well, or does it allow for only 1 account? Any details on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I understood what I want but I stuck in a problem with static push-registry, it work fine on the emulator but when I install it on a real device nothing happen.
the device I use is E71 .. I want to know if anyone try push with it and he success or E71 is not supporting static push-registry.
when I install the application it dose ask me if I agree to run it automatically ..... also, I try the dynamic one and it success...

E72: Push Mail

Hi,
I got the E72 device fir myself. Using the Nokia Messaging service that came loaded on the device. Have a couple of questions on it.
I added the gmail account to the Nokia Messaging Service. Now in the settings. What i see if under "When to Sync".. I have an options -> Weekday Sync under which I have 3 options 1) On all Day 2) Off All Day and 3) Cutomize. I have set it "On all Day".
Now when an email arrives on my account. The Device initiates a new GPRS connection automatically and get the mail. But then it does not discinnect the connection made. The GPRS connection remains active forever.
Even if i set the "Timed Sync" option to says 10 Mins.. after the mail is delivered.. shouldnt the device end the gprs connection and do a sync only after 10 mins??/

i've the same problem. I put the settings to "every 15 min" but the data-connection was permanent online. So my battery life went down to about 4-5 hours a day before having to load my e72 again. Without using the mfe the e72 works about 1 1/2 week with one battery life.
even with touch screen smart phones with less battery an push mail on "permanent" i was able to work about 8 hours minimum.
is there any software update to be expected in the comming future? this bug is cringe-making for an e72.

Nokia N8 PUSH-MAIL Bug/Problem,need to solve urgen...

Dear Administrator,I am saurabh from india and recently i brought your New NOKIA N8,Its good one ,but when i configure my GMAIL a/c on PUSH MAIL SERVICE of my N8 and when i read my e-mail on COMPUTER or IN ANY OTHER non- mobile device and then i refresh same a/c on Push-Mail of my Nokia N8,"It Still Showing 'READ' message as 'UNREAD' " on my Nokia N8 Push mail client,so kindly help me about this issuee.
I am not using any 3rd party PUSH mail service on my Nokia N8, I just using INBUILD NOKIA E-MAIL SERVICE for my GMAIL account, this problem is occurring on Nokia's in-build Email client.

another thing i saw that when I am browsing on my N8, and sometime i got call that time the "Packet data Connection icon put on hold" its fine upto call end but its remain as it is even i finish my call i.e ON HOLD but surprisely i am able to Surf internet.

What do you see exactly, for Yahoo? Do the emails come down fine when you hit the sync button, but they aren't pushed down immediately? Can you time it to see how long they typically take to arrive, when you don't sync manually?
As for rediff, I'm pretty sure (like 80% confident) that it's supposed to be polled every 15 minutes on the server. So it should take 0-15 minutes (7.5 mins average) to receive new emails. Rediff (unlike Yahoo) isn't techically push email. What exactly are you seeing for rediff?

Push mail accounts

Do push mail accounts use a lot less battery since it does not check the email every few minutes like fetch does? Is MobileMe and Yahoo the only email servers that offer push?

In that case what you want is imap. Don't use pop.
Even Gooogle's imap is very good at this, but if your mail server offers imap you should find it quite acceptable.
A change made on your home machine is instantly reflected at the iphone.
If using pop, there is no syncing that is reliable. Its always a compromise, with one machine set never to delete mail and the other set to always delete mail and quite often things get lost. Once you go Imap, you will never go back to pop. I know people who forward all their pop mail to a Gmail account just so they can use imap because their ISP does not support imap.

Mail for Exchange, Hotmail and Push Mail

I have set up a mail for exchange account on my Nokia E72. I am using hotmail as my mail provider. Everything works pretty fine. My mails and contacts get synchronzized with the phone.
Now, i want to use push mail to instantly receive mails. I am not able to get this feature running. In the options for the synchronization i've selecte under peak days every day of the week. Peak time i from 6:00-22:00 and sync plan is always active.
When i am sending an email to my hotmail account (within peak time) i don't get a push mail, not even after lots of minutes or hours. I have to go in my mailbox and manually press "send and receive" to get my new mails.
How can i get push mail on my E72 for my hotmail account? Many thanks in advance.

Exchange Push Mail Issues

For the past couple of weeks I've been having issues with my device and push mail, I'll check the phone in the afternoon and it'll say last updated 10:30 - swipe to update and all my mail comes in. The device is not in Stamina mode and I've even disabled the "queue background data" option but not joy. Removed and re-added my account also, oh and cleared out all of my devices in Exchange web mail. Just downloaded TouchDown to see if its the native email application causing the issue and that works fine. I am wondering if the last software update has caused an issue, been working fine up until a few weeks ago. My father has a Moto G running off the same email service and its fine.

I had this issue and I resolved it with a widget I use (PowerToggle) as I use it for my quick access tools eg Vibrate to Loud, Torch on/off, brightness etc, and I put an auto-sync on there and leave it turned on. Not an exact fix but it works. I found before I did this that apps would turn off their auto-sync, and turning it on manually would work until I reset the phone, then it'd turn off again and would have to turn on again.

N97 - live email/push mail with widget?

Hi I am wondering if there is a live email push function, with a homescreen widget for the N97.
Nokia push mail from Nokia Messaging works (although I'm not sure how much this will cost on a vodafone contract) once the trial period expires, it doesn't have a homescreen widget.
The inbuilt email widget is great, apart from it doesn't appear to have a regular connect/sync function making it a bit pointless as a home page widget.

I am using both the built in email client and the Nokia Messaging push client and both works great and you can tap on the email widget on the home screen and choose your favorate account and you will see both clients on the options and I tried them both and they work great ! but for the nokia messaging push service its not so fast and smooth, some emails tok one day to reach and others never showed on my phone (I am using the Yaho and Hotmail ), the Yahoo is little better and more smooththan Hotmail ! as you know this service is still on Beta and needs improvement.
For the built in client, I set Auto Retreival to check my email every 10 minutes using the POP protocol and its working great without any problem (the phone will give you sound alert, the breath light will blink, and the email sign will show at the top corner of the screen, and the new emeail will show on the email widget area !

Push mail

We have a Mobile Me account. My wife has a PC and I have a Mac. I use my Mac to sync her iPhone contacts to her (Me.com) account, and for software updates. I have not loaded iTunes on the PC. Her mail is pushed to the iPhone, but once that happens she can not download same mail to her PC, using Outlook. What must I do to get mail pushed to iphone and her PC? Tks for any help.

I think you might need iTunes 8 after all. Once iTunes 8 is installed, extra stuff like MobileMe might appear in the Control Panel. Sorry if I'm wrong, but I lost a lot of knowledge on PCs ever since migrating to a mac.

Push mail is not working with iOS 6.1.4. Is anybody facing same issue hare?

My iPhone 5 is connected to our Exchange acccount. Push email does not seem to be working on it. earlier i was to able use push mail but version for iOs was 6.1.1,due to hardware issue my iphone replaced by Apple,But new iphone5 brought me a serious luck. I have tried everything but it does not seem fit. Can anybody help me on this
