Sync messed up my bookmarks, can I restore to an earlier version of my bookmarks?

a lot of my bookmarks that were previously nicely ordered in tabs, now have been moved to "Unsorted bookmarks". Besides that, a part of my bookmarks is missing. Can I restore my bookmarks collection to an earlier state?

Ok. I think I figured out where the contacts were on the phone. It appears to be on the tab selected on the phone versus the cloud. Going backwards on the "groups" tab on the phone, I was able to select "All Contacts" tab and it opened all of the contacts on the phone (partially satisfied). However, when I open the "All iCloud" tab on the phone it doesn't have all contacts that are in the "All Contacts" tab. Similarly, when I look at the cloud contacts on iCloud.com, it doesn't have the larger population of contacts ("All Contacts") on the phone itself.
That concerns me in that ALL of my contacts are not backed up to the cloud. How do I get my "All Contacts" tab to backup or merge to iCloud?

  • Is iTunes 11.1.5 compatible with Mac OSX 10.6.8? If not how can I restore the previous iTunes version?

Problem: Recently when I open iTunes it doesn't work; the little pinwheel just keeps spinning.
I have tried leaving it on, as suggested by another user, for over 12 hours. I didn't work.
I think the new iTunes version, 11.1.5, is not compatible with the operating system; Mac OSX 10.6.8. If this is so, how can I restore the previous iTunes version?

You need to be updated to iTunes 11.2.2.
You might want to consider running the combo updater over your install to refresh your files.
    Combo updater: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update v.1.1 - 1.09 GB
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
After running the combo updater, select Software Updater and update iTunes.
If iTunes fails to open after updating, hold down the Option key when launching iTunes. It will ask you to locate your iTunes Library.
Note: I've seen users with their iTunes Library on an external drive spin like this when the drive was failed to be seen in Disk Utility. Run Repair Drive on the external drive to fix this issue.

  • Verything wants to downloaEd as an index.php can I go back to earlier version?

Every time I try to download a file It wants to download as an index.php file, this started after FireFox automatically upgraded to 8. Also freezing up and switching to earlier page. CAN I GO BACK TO EARLIER VERSION???

Previous versions of iTunes won't use the  iTunes library (newer version) file
Fortunately, iTunes makes backup copies of its library,
So when you reinstall, you have to delete (or rename just in case) library file, you have to copy (and rename) one the backups (usually the most recent one) to take its place
the library file is called         >>         iTunes Library (extension itl)
and should be in  the          >>          Desktop\Libraries\Music\iTunes\           folder
the backups should be in the    >>     Desktop\Libraries\Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Library\        folder
that should make iTunes work, wiith most or all of your library intact

  • Since mavericks safari changes bookmarks- can't restore w/Time Machine

I am BEYOND frustrated. Since I installed Mavericks, Safari has been changing my bookmarks, seemingly on it's own. It's done it three times.
I even worked with support at Apple. When we went back into the Time Machine I was able to restore the bookmarks. But I actually wrote down the time that the bookmarks were correct, restored it, and then did a save on the Time Machine. But today, it happened again, and even the Time Machine has the wrong version- not just on the date it was corrected with Apple Support, but on practically every date that I've checked. (I can't go back so far that I'm going to lose the new saved bookmarks).
Now I don't know if it's my Time Machine that is ALSO screwed up! They're telling me to do a reinstall- but I know how much time and effort that takes- and WHY would that make things better if I'm installing the same backup?
I am so unhappy with Mavericks and all these problems and the time I've wasted. I feel like I'm on a PC!!
Anyone have suggestions- other than taking a BIG drink and leaving my computer for a couple of weeks?

It's fixed! This is what happened. I called Apple Support because it's been a problem with Mavericks. The first Senior Advisor didn't know what she was doing. In fact, she encouraged me to do a reinstall- which I know is something that I won't do unless there is nothing else possible.
The second Senior Advisor, Patrick, knew RIGHT AWAY what the problem was! He said the cloud was resetting the bad bookmarks.   The cloud has to be turned off so it wouldn't reload the wrong bookmarks list.I deleted the wrong list, went into the Time Machine and pulled up the last good backup; restored. Then I went into the cloud and turned it back on. Now it works! Yee Hah!
Bottom line is: all of the senior advisors don't know the right answer- if you feel frustrated, ask for another.

  • I replaced sync data on server, how can i get access to older version of my sync data?

    Hello!
I've a problem. I synced my data from desktop browser and then reinstall browser. After that i pressed Sync now, entered my credentials and i thought that this browser will download my data. But by this deeds i replaced my previous data. How can i restore it?

    Hello Mightymad,
Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support. Sorry, about your loss of data.
Sync isn't intended for the purpose of being a "backup" service while the user re-installs their operation system. It was made to synchronize data between Firefox installations on multiple devices, where not every device is devoid of their Firefox installation and data at the same time.
Unfortunately, if you've overwritten the Sync data your previous version is lost.
I wish we had better news for you, but hopefully this gives you a better idea how Sync works, so you're better prepared next time you go to reinstall.
    Patrick

  • Can I restore the Snow Leopard version of 'Preview' for use in Mountain Lion?

When running Snow Leopard I enjoyed using Preview with my HP C7280 All-in-One Scanner/Printer.  I could place several items on the glass plate and Preview would then carry out a "preview scan". The superior edge detection software contained in Preview would recognise that there was more than one item on the scanner glass and put a marquee rectangle around each object (even separate images in a magazine page).  I could de-select objects if I wanted to at this point to avoid scanning them, or I could opt to scan.
Preview would then scan all selected items in one go outputting a separate file for each one. No need to re-scan and select the next object.  Preview would do the lot in one go! This was fantastic for saving  time for me.
Preview really 'kicked the crap' out of my PC at work. The best the scanning software on the PC could was to auto-detect a single item.*  So if I have a lot to do, I have to preview scan and then save/scan each item individually to achieve the same result.
All this changed when I updated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.  The scanning is nothing like as effective and time saving as before.  Preview just scans the whole glass plate straight to a file irrespective of what is on it, no preview scan and no object edge detection whatsoever; not even a single object like on my old PC at work. Absolute rubbish!
I really want to restore the functionality I had before. So I wonder, is it best to revert my iMac to Snow Leopard, or can I achieve this another way?   I don't necessarily want to abandon Mountain Lion - but I will if I have to.
Is it possible to restore the Snow Leopard version of Preview whilst keeping Mountain Lion? Or maybe download the Lion version from somewhere instead - assuming that the Lion version still has same functionality as the Snow Leopard version?
*Even this is better than what Preview does since I updated to Mountain Lion

It's either that or finding other software for your scanning needs. For example, Image Capture comes with OS X, VueScan 9.2.09, ExactScan Pro 2.24.
Alternatively, partition your hard drive and install Snow Leopard on another volume.
To resize the drive do the following:
    1. Open Disk Utility and select the drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list.
    2. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
    3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.  (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
    4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive. Use the Snow Leopard installer DVD to install Snow Leopard on your new volume.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss.  Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.

  • I have yosemite on my iMac.Can i restore to an earlier time from my external hard drive when i had Mavericks installed?

Hi all. I have Yosemite on my iMac. Can i restore via my external hard drive to an earlier time when i had Mavericks on my iMac? If i can which operating system will i end up with? I would like to do this because i prefer Mavericks to Yosemite. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've never seen that problem, but others have reported it. Maybe you should search for those other topics. You might try the following:
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Then download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite.
Then download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

Why I can't restore my iphone with my window using itune 11.1.5. Is it any wrong with computer using window ? And why my friend can restore his iphone using Mac Book ( OS X ) I don't understand. Is it only OS X can restore the iphone ?

It seems I have solved my own problem . . . well hopefully !!   ;-)
I was using a 'non' Apple cable. When I swithced to using the stock cable that came with my iPhone, iTunes can now see that I have a 'Device' and identifies it correctly as my iPhone.
    Hopefully this may help others . . . ?
    Cheers,

  • How do I restore from an earlier version?

The latest iTunes software wiped out my apps for my 2G iPod Touch by overwriting newer releases of the apps which are not compatible with iOS 4.2.1.  I tried to restore the iPod to an earlier version without success.  Is there any way to download older versions of my apps which are compatible with my older iPod?

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • How can you go back to earlier version?

I've read interesting posts by people who went back to an earlier version of iTunes to get around the iTunes 6 problems. Can someone tell me how to do this? I tried to do a system restore and it doesn't work.

    Hi Dr. Deb.
I followed Paul Haines instructions in this thread...
Gary Baker, "How to get rid of the iTunes V5 and revert to V4.9" #27, 12:45pm Oct 20, 2005 CDT
It worked for me. However, iTunes may leave a library.xml file in your "My Music" folder which I had to move manually as when I tried to launch Ver4.9 for the first time, it failed as it wouldn't recognise a later version's library.xml file.
iTunes then opened but with nothing in the library until I selected "Add Folder To Library" selected the folder where my music was and then I had it all back in the library.
    Hope this helps?
    Regards...

  • How can I access and download earlier versions of Adobe Reader to put on my older model iPod Touch?

We have model PC086LL iPod Touched from roughly 2008 for our school that are rarely used anymore because we've updated to iPads.  But, I want to be able to use some of the iPod Touches to store files to access remotely in emergencies.  Unfortunately I cannot access earlier versions of the Adobe Reader app that are compatible with this version iPod.  How do I get access to those earlier versions?

    SGMS Knight,
Based on the model number that you provided, your device is an iPod Touch 2nd generation.
According to the following Wikipedia page, the highest supported operating system for the iPod Touch 2nd generation is iOS 4.2.1.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_iOS_devices#iPod_Touch
Adobe Reader for iOS version 11.0.1 is compatible with iOS 5.  However, the App Store does not have the earlier version of Adobe Reader that is compatible with iOS 4.
As a user, you can download and install Adobe Reader for iOS only from the App Store.
You may be able to find other free PDF viewers that are compatible with iOS 4 in the App Store.
    Good luck.

  • TS1717 i updated itunes and now i cant find half my music- how can i return to the earlier version

i updated my Itunes to the newest version- now it cant find half my music and my computer is reall acting wonky since i installed. how can i uninstall to the previous version?

    iTunes has no serial number.
If iTunes says it can't find the files, it means it can't read them from where they should be.
iTunes doesn't store the music actually within itself, it just keeps the location of the song, and then reads it from there. E.g. Song is in 'My Music', add it too iTunes. When iTunes plays the song, it's playing it from 'My Music', not from a full song file in the iTunes library.
So, do you have your music files stored on the actual hard-drive of your computer, or on an external hard drive? If external hard drive, are you getting this error both when it's connected, AND when it's disconnected, or only when it's disconnected?

  • IPhoto'06 burning CDs - Can they be read on earlier versions of iPhoto?

    I have recently installed iLife'06
I burn photos on to CD but people with earlier versions of iPhoto don't seem to be able to open them and see the photos ?
Do I have to burn them in an earlier format or do they have the problem ?
    Thank you
    Tim ML

Hi. I have been frustrated by the same problem, found this thread, and tried PhillyPhan's advice. Then, when my wife put the CD in her G4 Powerbook (iPhoto 5.0.4) it said that there were "no photos" on the CD. I popped it back into mine and it read them just fine. Any other ideas?
The really frustrating part of this is that I can give friends who use a variety of PCs (makes and ages) my iPhoto CDs and they open them without problem. I give them to my Mac-owning wife and she can't open them on her G4!
