Sync & multiple mail accounts???

I know that sync is capable of syncing .mac mail accounts when using the mail app, but I was wondering if it was possible to set sync up so that it can also sync my earthlink email too. If so, is there a way to have the folders that I use in the mailbox window to save old messages to sync as well?
Thanks

Hello Steve.
The answer is no.
The sync function can be used on server stored mailboxes for .Mac or IMAP type accounts only since server stored mailboxes in the Mail.app and with other email clients are synchronized with the server.
Incoming messages sent to a POP type account are downloaded from the server only. You can select to keep messages on the server when downloaded by the Mail.app or with another email client but you cannot save Drafts, Sent, Trash, Junk or user created mailboxes on the server with a POP type account.

How could you sync a pop mail account 2x gmail accounts and a imap accounts contacts is this possible?

Scroll way down Mail's side bar. You should find the sent-mail folder down there somewhere. To bring it up to the top with your other accounts' sent folders, select it, and choose Use this mailbox for -> sent under the mailboxes menu.

Can I sync multiple icloud accounts to a mac

You can add additional iCloud accouts to your Mac as secondary accounts by going to System Preferences>Internet Accounts (Mail,Contacts,Calendars)>iCloud and entering your credentials.  Secondary accounts will only sync mail, contacts, calendars, reminders and notes.
Additionally, you can sign into different iCoud accounts in different user accounts.

  • Syncing selected mail accounts

I used multiple email accounts on multiple servers. Some have imap available other do not. I've been trying to use the "sync select mail accounts" feature in iTunes but I'm not having any luck!
I have one account (pop account) that I'd love to be able to delete mail on either my iPhone or Macbook Pro & when I sync have the two talk to each other.
    Please advise...
    Thank you

The sync select mail accounts option is for transferring the account settings from your computer to your iPhone so you don't need to manually create the account with the iPhone's Mail client.
This is not for syncing mailboxes and messages for an account between your computer and your iPhone.
A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. If you want the mailboxes and messages for an account to be synced between the email client used on your computer and the iPhone's Mail client, you need an IMAP account.

Addressbook synching would be through your iCloud account. It has nothing to do with Safari.

I don't think that you can. Yahoo's basic email features do not include mail forwarding.

  • Isync/.mac sync and mail accounts

Mail checks 3 email accounts for me. And .Mac is set to sync my mail accounts and settings across two computers.
The thing is, every time I open Mail (on either computer), .mac will eventually sync, and I get the "this is going to change >5% of your mail accounts" warning. It says it is going to delete two accounts, modify zero, and add two. I always just click ok.
But it's getting to the point it's annoying. So today I clicked the "details" section- and it shows the accounts that are supposed to be added/deleted- and they are identical.
Everything else syncs fine, without error.
is there something funny about mail account syncing? Why does it do this every single bloody time .mac runs a sync?!
    Thanks!

You should ask in the .Mac Sync forum. iSync doesn't do any kind of Mail syncing - it's for syncing to phones and PDAs.

  • Multiple mail accounts - how to get around default 'send' account

I have multiple mail accounts on my iphone - personal, work, etc... No matter which account I send from, the recipient always sees it as coming from my personal mail account. I was told this is a apple restriction - that the 'default' account in your mail settings means that only one account can be set. This is not how it used to work previously...? Any suggestiongs ?

Hi DavBMan, thanks for your reply. Yes I do know about seeing the 'from' address and manually changing it. Even when I do that, even though the phone shows the correct from address (even shows in the correct sent mailbox on the iphone), the recipient still sees another (my personal) 'from' address no matter what.
Do you know of any info on the Apple support site for this? I haven't been able to find anything.
    Again, thanks for your help

  • "Sync selected Mail Accounts" has disappeared...

So when I go to iTunes with my iPhone plugged in, and i go to the info tab, everything appears as it should except I can't select the "sync selected mail accounts"...now all three accounts run imap, so maybe that's why, but I thought that last night (before 1.1.2), I had the option of syncing all three. Anyone have an idea what happened?

This isn't normal but FYI - the email account sync process syncs email account setup information only from your computer to your iPhone and is in this one direction only. The sync process for this data is not bidirectional as it is for Address Book contacts and calendar events.
Unless you make a change to the account information on your Mac that is synced with or transferred to your iPhone that you want transferred, it isn't necessary to continue syncing this data after the selected email account setup information has been successfully transferred to your iPhone.

  • Syncing Multiple Email Accounts

My question is I want to sync two mail accounts to my iPhone and didn't know if it is possible. I use a Gmail account for all my personal emails and I would like to sync my work email account to the phone as well. At work I use Microsoft Outlook. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

You can retrieve and send mail from any number of accounts via EDGE and WiFi. Mail does not sync via USB cable, only over the air. What "mail sync" actually does is sync mail SETTINGS, not the mail itself. You can sync only one set of settings, but you can manually enter as many accounts as you want to.
To sync work mail if your company uses Microsoft Exchange your company's Exchange server must have IMAP connectivity enabled. Check with your IT department.

    Hello sstan114,
Great question! What type of email account are you using? Most email providers these days offer IMAP accounts (as opposed to POP). With IMAP, your changes should reflect across your devices (for example: if you read an email on your iPhone, it should be marked as read on your iPad). For more information about IMAP, see this resource:
    iCloud: IMAP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2585
In some cases, you may need to contact your Email provider or check out their online resources for information on how to setup your account as IMAP. The following article outlines some important information you’ll want to gather:

  • Downloads w multiple mail accounts

Im using a s w/ iOS 5.....I have multiple mail accounts that are setup on the phone including connection to my employers Exchange server. My problem is when I open the mail program is says there are 2 downloads pending... WBut it never completes the DL. I can't tell where (which) account the downloads are coming from and I don't know how to delete them? Help?

Each family member and regular user of this iMac family computer should have their own computer login account without admin privileges. You can disable automatic login so each user must manually enter their login password to login to their account and gain access to their Home folder/directory including all their own data stored within. Each family member creates their email account only with Mail under their login account.
OS X was designed for multiple users of the same computer in this way with each user's home folder/directory and any other data stored within kept separate and protected from other users.
You can enable Fast User Switching to make the process of switching between multiple login accounts a fast and easy process.
When one family member is done using the computer under their login account, they can simply log off or select another user via Fast User Switching. With automatic login disabled, no one will be able to login to someone else's account unless they provide their password.

This is the best and only way to make this work.

  • Accessing multiple mail accounts comming from same incomming mail server

What is the trick to accessing multiple mail accounts comming from the same incoming mail server with the same user ID and password?
I have a website that I run all of my mail through and I have never been able to check more than one configured mail account using "MAIL".
    Thanks

    Hi Sparky,
You can configure mutliple accounts easily enough. Preferences > Accounts, then the Account Information tab. You are providing email address, incoming server, username and password for each.
First account: [email protected]; mail.host.com; sparky; sparkypassword
Second account: [email protected]; mail.host.com; sparky; sparkypassword
Check, as noted above, that all accounts are set to enabled and to autocheck: Both settings are under the Advanced tab. Then exit and save. Now your inbox will show a disclosure triangle. Click it and you'll see both accounts.
Does that explain enough? Are you haveing a problem doing this or just weren't sure how?
    Let us know!
    Good luck,
    John

  • Multiple mail accounts and contacts

I have multiple mail accounts and too often it happens that I find out that I did not use the correct mail account for the person I mailed to. Wouldn't it be nice to indicate for each contact which mail account shall be used to mail to? Almost always this is contact related, isn't it? And of course this would have the required effect in OS X and in iOs.

In Mail app you can set which email account will be default to start new message (Mail->Preferences->Composing tab->Send new message from) OR if somebody sent you an email, if you will replay to it, then your email will be sent from the same email account on which you received email.
