Sync multiple plist files

I'm unsuccessfully trying to sync multiple Safari History .plist files in Dropbox.  (I'm new at Dropbox & syncing.)
Can this be done through Dropbox or otherwise & if so, how?
Thank you!

No. .plist files cannot be synced.

  • Multiple plist files for Quicktime X

    Hello-
I noticed that in my user preferences folder there are multiple (79) preference files for Quicktime player X. They all have the following format:
    com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist.fHp953T
The last seven characters are different for each file. Is this normal? Should I get rid of them? There is one file without the seven last characters.
    Any information would be great-
    Thanks

    HI,
Leave those files right where they are. Yes that's normal.
If you launch your QuickTime Player, from the Menu Bar click QuickTime/Preferences. All your preferences in that window are stored in the .plist files.
If you have problems using your QuickTime software, then you can move the .plist files to the Trash. The next time you launch QuickTime your Mac OS X will generate a new .plist file for you.

  • Multiple plist files for QTX in Pref folder.

    Hi folks,
Can you check your Preferences folder ( ~/Library/Preferences) to see if you too have numerous QuickTime Player X plist files?
I found 142 files which are suffixed with some garbled letters at the end (com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist.RlLCL4q)
Not sure if this is normal or a bug but wanted to check w/ you all before submitting a bug report.
    Thanks

Not sure about normal as an app shouldn't generate such an amount of plists unless they were caches.
Normal in the sense that each new file opened in the QT X player seems to create a separate PLIST file. (Not normal in the sense that this does not happen with QT 7 files.) If you searched the forum, you probably learned that the arbitrarily named files appear to be based on temporary files whose names are randomly generated and normally invisible to the user which I suspect under normal circumstances should have been deleted by the system after use.
I think 10.6.3 may have done away with it crosses fingers as the files in my pref folder were generated prior to 10.6.3's installation.
Many users reported the the generation of these superfluous files as a probable "bug" and it is quite possible that Apple may have corrected the problem as part of the last upgrade. I stopped using QT X long ago as I became tired of constantly deleting these files and tend to use the QT 7 Player for the "Pro" feature functionality which most of us still prefer to the limited capabilities included in the QT X Player.

  • Sync multiple audio files with RED files using timecode

For a prodject i need to sync 100+ RED files with 100+ audio files. The RED camera and the external audio recorder are locked by Timecode.
Now i know the option to sync the files with merge clips. But this option works only for one clip at the time! And i have a very shot deadline.
Is there a faster way to do this in PremiereCC??

    Not yet.

  • PLIST file that manages monitor brightness?

Is there a single or multiple plist files that manage the brightness of an Intel iMac screen? I am trying to change the brightness on several machines and looking for a way to change this through Apple Remote Desktop.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One way to find what plist does what is to use the fs_usage command, which must be run as root. The command watches for file system changes so to monitor for plist changes the command is
    # fs_usage |grep plist
then change the setting in question and watch the terminal window for the plist file that is modified. It may help to dump the output to a txt file and then search it for the plist you want.
I did not see a plist file modification when adjusting the brightness.

  • Multiple itunes plist files

Every time I start iTunes, it will create a new plist file (like com.apple.iTunes.plist.ec6ME44) under User/Library/Preferences and under User/Library/Preferences/ByHost which is 0 KB in size after I close iTunes. After a couple of iTunes starts there are plenty of those plist files in the mentioned directories. Is this normal? Or is this a bug?

    Hi SaTh,
Definitely a bug mate. One that has been present since 10.6 on newer Macs.
I have conversed with numerous Apple techs who have also acknowledged the weird behaviour.
One good way to see the issue and to maybe understand whats going on is to open a movie in QuickTime X, then clear recents, open the app and bang.. the recents is repopulated and a .plist.xxxxxxx is created.
It appears that certain changes to an apps .plist are not being written out correctly.
Unfortunately 10.6.5 still has the bug much to my sadness as I suspect its a low level HFS write issue.
I am guessing its not a big deal (although I feel it is) or Apple has chosen to divert its energy in resolving it in 10.7.
In the mean time, just purge the files once in awhile, a non solution to what appears to be a non issue.
    Cheers,
    Karl.

  • Multiple Domain Files

A lot of questions are asked in this forum about managing multiple domain files and splitting existing ones.
The "solutions" seem to be either to use an application such as iWebsites or to duplicate the domain file into folders and delete the appropriate sites.
When I first loaded iWeb '08, I kept a copy of a blank domain file and use this to start a new site by duplicating it into a new folder and double clicking it to launch iWeb.
My main reason for doing this was to overcome the inability of iWeb to create a new domain file from the "File" menu.
I have stayed with this, not only for speed and convenience, but because I read this...
    http://11mystics.com/blog/2007/09/08/how-do-you-manage-multiple-domain-files-for -iweb/
    and also this....
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6261141&#6261141
These comments are from two people who dig deep under the hood of iWeb and whose opinions I respect and have taken to heart.
Is this the best way to create new domain files?
    Am I being over cautious?
    Am I totally deluded?
The last question is open to psycho therapists only !

UUIDs are like finger prints in Domain.sites2. There are ways to start new Domain.sites2 without duplicate an existing one:
    1) move the last accessed Domain.sites(2) from its location, or rename the holding folder.
    2) change com.apple.iWeb.plist setting, I post the procedure here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6007612&#6007612
This can be done with AppleScript or Unix shell script. Doing so will get you new Domain with new UUID.
When you duplicate a blank domain, you also duplicate its UUIDs, as of now there seems to be OK as long as you keep domain separate. However, we do not know what Apple will do in the future releases, here is UUIDs usage progression in iWeb:
We did not see much of them in iWeb1, because iWeb1 Domain.sites is flat structure.
We see UUIDs everywhere in iWeb2 Domain.sites2, from top to bottom; every page has it own UUID.
So, I would be skeptic about having duplicate UUIDs; even in separate domain packages.
I ran a cross this when a friend asked me to merge his Domain.sites2 packages, and I thought people should be aware of it.
I ended up write Applescript applications to merge, extract sites and clean existing Domain.sites2 package by assign new UUIDs.

  • Sync multiple (but not all) photo folders?

I've got a new 4G Touch and I am trying to figure out how to sync multiple folders containing pics to the iPod, preserving the folder structure on the PC to the Album structure on the iPod. My device allows the following:
    1) Sync all photos from Photoshop - no ability to select folders/albums, it's grayed out. It will sync as many photos as it can fit on the device, leaving 1G avail.
    2) Sync a single folder from my PC- it won't allow me to select the whole library or parts of it as in 1) above.
The ends result is I have my camera roll, and then 1 huge library with 12,000 pic that I can only scroll through top to bottom. Useless for anything other than a slideshow.
How can I select multiple folders, say all my photos from 2010, and preserve the file structure on the iPod? It seems I should be able to have more than 1 album on the device.
Perhaps it has to do with how the files are set up in Photoshop? And why the link to photoshop? Sure would be nice to also sync with Picasa (ha, ha).
Any ideas out there? I searched on this issue and see that it was a question on previous generations, but have not found the solution.

I figured out the answer. Holding down the command key and clicking seemed to make it select all the events. I'm not sure exactly how I got that to work, but messing with it for a minute should make all the events selected.

  • About sync multiple calendar to outlook

I would like to ask the result of sync multiple calendar from iPhone IOS 6.x to outlook issue.
Our users are using Outlook 2010 and had a primary mailbox for their own mailbox, and a shared mailbox for the Shared Calendar issue.
The iPhone had multiple Calendar there, if the user use itune to sync the calendar to Outlook 2010:
Will the multiple calendar combine into one calendar in Outlook 2010 and classified by Categories?
Which Outlook calendar will the iPhone calendars sync to Outlook 2010? Sync only to Primary mailbox or to both Primary mailbox and the shared caolendar?
On the other hand, as the Outlook 2010 has a primary mailbox and a shared mailbox, how would itune handle to sync the calendar to iPhone?
    Please kindly help.

To back up the content on your iOS device, follow these steps:
Make sure your computer has the latest version of iTunes.
Connect your iOS device to your computer.
Choose File > Devices > Back up.
If you're using iTunes 10.7 or earlier, right-click the device from the list and choose Backup Now.

  • Moved computers - Error messages - podcasts won't sync - multiple problems

I just moved my itunes and ipod from a macbook to a PC (I love the apples but I can't afford to buy them).
When I plug in my ipod I get two very similar error messages that must be cleared before my ipod will sync (which is very annoying if you're in a hurry and you plug in your ipod and expect it to sync and don't notice the error messages come up and then come back a few minutes later and nothing has synchronized).
    The first is:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "How Microsoft Deployed and
Architected SharePoint Server 2007", were not copied because they could not be found." and then at the bottom it says there are 87 total problems and I can click the + if I want to see all 87 problems.
    How do I fix that?
Also I'm trying very very very very very hard to get Real Time with Bill Maher Episode #165 to move from my iTunes (where it rests tauntingly) to my iPod (which has only 1 brief video episode of "new rules". I've tried many different settings in the sync area including "sync the 5 most recent items", "sync the 5 most recent unplayed items", "sync all items", etc. but nothing I try moves this over.
Please please please, how can I get Episode #165 onto my iPod before I die of old age?

I am having the same problem.  iMessages sends and sync with my iphone 4s and ipad, but even though I'm signed in on my mac with iMessage, I can't send any mesages and they don't sync with the messages sent from my iphone.   I am signed in with my AppleID on the mac, and I get the confirmation notices on my iphone and ipad, but I can't send send or receive iMessages on the mac.
I've tried the numerous fixes suggested in other articles, such as signing in and out on all my devices (starting with the iphone first), deleting plist files, uninstalling Flash player, resetting the PRAM, repairing disk permissions, booting in safe mode, but nothing works.
I have a MacBook Pro 17" running the latest version of Mavericks with Messages version 8 (4226).
My iCloud account is a different login than my AppleID I use for the iPhone, iTunes, and Messages, but that's because it's the AppleID that is tied to my cell phone number.
    Thank you for the help.

  • Finder/Cover Flow is out of sync by one file?

Hi all, I've had this problem for a while and it's really frustrating. In Finder using the 'Cover Flow' option, my files are out of sync by one file. By 'out of sync', I mean the the bottom half of the screen is showing one file but the top half of the screen is 'previewing' the wrong file by one. It's only off by one file, but this is really annoying.
When I use the view options 'Icons', 'list' or 'columns' I don't have this problem. What can I do?
    Thanks for any help!

    com.apple.systemuiserver.plist and com.apple.finder.plist
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/. Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by loggin out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer ones.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update.
If you look at the 'More Like This' box (top right) it seems the Cover Flow view is having problems.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Notes from My iPhone 4 (Running iOS 5.1.1) Sync as Blank Files in Mail on 10.6.8

    Hi.
I have a perplexing problem that I have not seen discussed anywhere. With my iPhone 4, running iOS 5.1.1, syncing notes in Mail results in a stange blank Notes document appearing in the Notes sidebar in Mail. The Notes look like a yellow sheet of ruled paper, as they do on my iPhone, but they open to reveal no information other than their names.
Once opened, they disappear from my list of Notes, and upon the next sync via USB cable from my iPhone to my Mac, the notes also disapepar from the phone. When opened in Mail, the blank and useless no-longer-a-note Notes will not close unles I quit Mail. I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. In Mail, I've tried both listing the Notes in the Inbox, and as their own separate group. Neither work.
The Notes never synced well with any of my iPhones, and are a real pain now. I've taken to doing what I did before the notes were syncable (in Tiger), and enter items in my Address book so that they last through syncing. I've also trashed the Mail .plist file and reconfigured Mail, but that had no affect.
Has anyone encountered this issue? It is beyond frustrating, particulalrly because Mail deletes the Notes. Thanks for any feedback. ;-)

Same here. It is a major flaw to have the sync process permanently delete material without any user input or notification.

  • Multiple .flv files out of syc after first video

    On a PC with W7, office 2010 and CP6.
When embedding multiple .flv files in CP6, and running the published html5 presentation off my local drive, only first .flv file is in sync after publishing in html5. The 2nd .flv video is out of sync.
I’m running CP6 on a PC with several information slides and one slide with an embedded .flv file. Then a few more information slides and a second slide with another embedded .flv file. Preview mode looks fine on both videos. The original mp4 videos that I imported into CP6 which it converted to .flv files works fine as well.
When I publish the file in html5 only, and launch the file off a local drive the first video runs fine but the second one is out of sync. Repeated publishing doesn’t help. I’ve inserted other videos and the same problem occurs on the second video. Also the control bars that I put below the .flv video don’t show up in hmtl5 published format.
Why is the second video out of sync. My goal is to have 4-5 short .flv embedded videos in the presentation with information slides preceding each video.
When I go to the published folder:
and click individually on the videos the first one runs fine, the second one is out of sync – same as when I launch the index.htm file off my local drive.
When I copy the files to my Mac, and run off the local drive I have the same problem.
    Need some help here.

Could be the encoding. Never heard of that software.
You could possibly convert the files in iTunes by right clicking and choosing conversion for AppleTv option but that takes time and will only work for things iTunes can play natively. There may be better options but MPEGStreamclip is a versatile free video converter as I believe is the latest version of the Handbrake utility.

  • How can I merge multiple wav files in Premiere?

    Hi Everyone,
So after I import my synced timeline from Plural Eyes and replace the audio clips I notice that the new XML file has multiple wav files for each of my cameras. I do know that dragging these wav files together increases the gain. Is there a way to have these wav files joined to make one solitary track and file with only one level? TIA
    Mike Diaz

The best method I can think of is to skip PluralEyes and all the issues that come with it.
    1. Create a sequence matching your media.
    2. Add the clips, sync manually.
    3. Create a second sequence matching your media.
    4. Nest the first sequence into the second.
    5. Right click that nested sequence, choose Multi-Camera>Enable.

  • Xmp sync problems--corrupted files?

I have been having lots of problems getting my xmp metadata sorted out. I am a new user to Lightroom, but I think I have figured out most of what I need successfully.
I use a variety of programs to edit the xmp data (mostly Lightroom and exiftool right now), so I know the importance of the "Automatically write XMP data to file setting" (ON in my case). After a few days (actually more like a week) of writing xmp data and then reading into (or synching folders in) Lightroom, I found a number of "metadata conflicts" in my catalog. Since these are basically impossible to fix for a large catalog (since there is no way to show the files that have conflicts), I started over and created a new catalog, and imported all 40,000+ images into it.
However, with my new catalog (with presumably no metadata conflicts), the first image that I tried to change the metadata on gave me a metadata conflict (presumably when Lightroom tried to save the xmp data after I changed it). This was a jpg file, so the metadata is being (or not being) written into the file. Reading the metadata from the file into Lightroom did not fix the problem. The Metadata Status field in the Lightroom Metadata panel says "Unknown" and clicking on the word "Unknown" brings up a panel saying "There was an unknown error while writing metadata to this photo. Retry?", and neither retrying the save nor importing the settings from disk resolves the conflict.
I think that the problem is that the jpeg is somehow corrupt, because if I save a copy in Photoshop, I can read and write the metadata in that copy. And, the copy has, I think, the same metadata as the original. (Of course, the image is probably imperceptibly degraded because I re-jpeg'd it).
There is no message in Console (I'm on Mac). (See PS)
I am worried that I have a number of files with this kind of problem, and I'd like to find the problem and fix it. Any ideas for a strategy to go about doing this? I guess I could "Save Metadata" for all files in my catalog (thus updating the file modified date for all 2 TB of data, and causing a massive backup issue), and then look through my catalog for those elusive exclamation points. But I'd like something better.
I have no idea how the jpeg could have gotten corrupted, but I do have an archived version that I could look at.
    Any thoughts on next steps?
    TIA
    Alan
PS--I did find this in my console output hundreds of times:
8/10/11 2:40:00 PM    Adobe Lightroom 3[404]    KeywordUsageStatistics    ERROR    Bad popularity entry for 1937630: occurrences is negative: -1
I don't know if that is related, but it worries me.

After moving LR3.5 and catalogs to a new computer running Windows 7 and LR from an XP system, I suddenly had 6400 files with exclamation points--failure to synch metadata or similar warnings on every file.  If I thought I had one without the error, if I clicked on it--there error showed up.    It was very frustrating and I was wondering if I was going to have to keep my old computer forever.
After I searched for a couple of hours and found that there have been several discussions concerning failures to sync xmp sidecar files and failures to write metadata on this forum and others.  Some of the postings had angry rants against Adobe.  On my system, it was not Adobe that should be blamed, it was Microsoft:
On one of the Adobe threads, I noticed a post that the person had multiple external drives and the problem did not show itself on one drive.  The person said that changing the permissions on the other hard drives solved the problem.   I tried this and it worked for me.  I did not have this problem with this same drive on my XP system.  I will try to find that other forum and thank the person who gave me the solution.
