Sync Music audio with Video Audio PE10

Hi.
I am new to Premiere elements 10 (Changed from Corel to Adobe, so i'm not new to video editing, but I'm not used to PE10).
I am filming a lot of my daughters Circus performances, so very often I find the music number used at the performance and merge that with the video audio in the project.
But I have a problem syncing the music from the audio track on the video with the seperate music track.
So to specify: I want both Audio tracks running at the same time, so that I keep the clapping and the whisteling from the audience, but get the better quality of the music from the external file merged with the music in the video-audio-clip.
Is there a special tool or can someone help me with a special tecnique?
Regards Settemand

Along with the instructions offered above, when nudging the Audio, I would make sure that Snap is OFF, as Snap will try to align your Audio with the beginning (Head), or end (Tail), of you Video Clips. That is useful for many editing operations, but for nudging Audio will frustrate you. The Snap function is a toggle with the S key. Just do not forget to turn it back ON, when done.
Also, though the Soundtrack Audio Track seems to be the ideal location for your extra music, some users have experienced issues, when using it, or the Narration Audio Track. While it seems that those issues are Project-specific, and those Tracks often work well, to keep from being tripped up later, I recommend putting your music on a free Audio Track, such as Audio 2 - just to be safe.
Also, with either an Audio, or Video Track, you can Zoom IN/OUT horizontally with the Timeline Zoom slider, AND can also Zoom IN/OUT vertically, by going to the Track's Header (where the Track Name is located), then hovering your cursor over the little line between the Track, until it changes to an equal sign with up/down arrows, then click+drag, to enlarge the Track (and the Clip display) vertically. I find that this makes viewing the Audio Waveform Display easier, and the peaks are more obvious. When done, you can just reverse that operation to Zoom OUT on the Track vertically, so that it looks like it did, before you started.
Good luck, and this FAQ Entry might be useful, though it talks about OOS (Out Of Sync) Audio, the functions are the same for syncing additional Audio: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/436751?tstart=0

  • Autosync - Sync Detection Problem with Video/Audio from different sources

    Hi,
    i've got the following problem:
I'm editing a feature film, where video comes from tape and audio from harddisc-recorder. The clips are combined/linked manually via in-point (slate).
If I cut this video/audio combined clip in the timeline, and move only the audio 3 frames to the right, sync detection informs me correct about the out of sync problem (3 frames). BUT: If I split the audio file in two pieces, the left clip still has the "out of sync" info in the timeline and remains "linked" to the video, but the right clip doesn't show his relation to the video anymore !!!
    Is this a bug ?
Because, if I use video and audio from one "media-source", ex dv, the sync detection in the timeline is working correct with the above example ?
I'm lookin' for a similar way to sync clips like autosync with media-composer and thought combine audio and video clip to a new combined clip should do this....
    Thanks for help !

I have my waveforms back! Thank you SO MUCH! I looked everywhere and just couldn't find a setting for this.
As for the sync, I guess that's OK - it's no worse than what I had before (and with the waveforms back, less of an issue to do manually). Would be nice if they'd add the ability to offset the audio track in the Modify Clip screen at some point (and it would open up the multi-cam sync feature to more users), but I can cope without for now.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Syncing External Audio with Video on iMovie

If syncing external audio with video on imovie, once successfully syncing the 2 is it possible to permanantly merge them so that I can continue trimming and rearranging clips without having to continue to re-sync the audio and video after every change I make?

In Final Cut Pro X, yes. In iMovie...no.
The workaround in iMovie is to sync your external audio to the video clip. Mute the audio on the video clip so all that is left is the good audio. Then use SHARE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME. Choose Movie to QuickTime Movie and under Options choose Apple Intermediate Codec as the Video Codec.
Then save this clip in a place you can find it. Finally, import this new clip back into your event.

  • Best way to sync (shift to match) audio with video in FCE 1.01?

What is the best way to sync (shift to match) audio with video in FCE 1.01?
Step by step in simple wording please, since I am new at this.
    Thank you so much.
    Walter

As you probably know by now, DVD camcorders are not compatible with FCE or pretty well any other DV based editing system.
Possibly the simplest (though not cheapest) route would be by using an Analogue-Digital converter.
Streamclip and other similar programs are supposed to work but I have had no experience with them.
In the long run probably the best (but costly) solution would be to buy a Mini-DV camcorder - it doesn't have to be a top of the range model - even the cheapest ones can produce high quality video. Then you would not have to mess around converting DVD files with the inevitable loss of quality it entails.
A cheap DV camera need be not much more expensive than an A/D converter.

  • No audio with video, website navigation impaired, I can no longer recommend Firefox

I maintain the video site shaleshockmedia.org. I can no longer recommend Firefox to viewers because of the severe problem I have been experiencing: No audio with video; navigation often does not work. Maybe this is purely a local problem. Please let me know if the site is fully functional or not when you go there. There is no problem with Chrome or Safari. My computer is a Macbook Pro 3,1 Intel Core 2 Duo. MacOs 10.6.8

Note that there are a lot of popular extensions that can cause issues with videos not working apart from issues with the Flash plugin.
In what way is the navigation not working properly?
    Can you give some examples?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Syncing audio with video shot at 23.97fps

I recently shot a series of interviews on a Canon 7D. We shot the video at 23.98fps and recorded audio on a TASCAM DR-100, the audio format was 16bit interger 48kHz. I have tried syncing the audio and video in final cut, it starts out ok, but begins to lose sync with clips that last over a couple of minutes.
Is there a way to convert the audio files to remain synced throughout?
    Please help...

This may not be satisfactory but it usually works.
Assuming the audio and video clips are started on a clapper, find the exact length of your video clip. Write that down.
Open Speed Adjust on the audio clip and enter the time you wrote down. Render and then link.
If you do this for each clip in a separate sequence you can export the properly synced clips as self-contained media.
Hope you get it sorted, there is probably an easier and much more efficient way to do this. Back when I was shooting film, the speed of the tape deck sometimes drifted (because the producer was too cheap to get a crystal locked deck or Nagra). We'd spend many frustrating hours syncing by inserting cutaways and tiny chips of blank tape.

  • Sync audio with video rate

i have captured video/audio through the deck that I have and it's rate is 48KHZ 16BIT and I have a audio file that is from the actual microphone. I want to sync these 2, but I can't seem to find the right way.
i've tried exporting the audio file in 48KHZ 16BIT and 24BIT and nothing, its still not synced. I don't know how else to do this. can someone please help me?

ok heres what i do... we have a youth tv show where this guy talks. we record the video from a canon AXH1. The audio is recorded from the camera but we do not use that audio. The audio from the mic he speaks on is recorded on a laptop using some audio program our audio guy uses. So what i do is align up the audio from the mic/laptop file with the audio from the camera so its synced....does that make sense?

  • Audio moves out of sync or alignment with video after moving clip

I have a video clip with it's detached audio on the secondary timeline.  The audio has been broken apart so that I can edit each individual audio track.  But I still want to keep the audio linked and synced with the video.  When I select the audio and video and move the clip, the audio moves out of sync(by a frame or two), and isn't locked directly under the video the way it should be, or the way it was before I moved the clip.  I notice this when I zoom in really close and the audio tracks are a frame or two off.  In some cases, the audio tracks get increasingly out of sync the more I move the clip.  This shouldn't happen when I select everything together.  Has anyone ever experienced this or is there a solution to avoid the audio getting out of perfect alignment with the video?  Thanks

Yes, it would probably be best to just turn it into a compound clip.  I'm relatively new to FCP X, and I'm coming from FCP 7.  In FCP 7, I like being able to see both channels of audio under each clip.  So, what I do is adjust the audio levels for each channel separately.  I might add keyframes to one channel and leave the other channel alone.  In FCP X, it seems like the only way to edit or adjust the separate channels is by breaking apart the audio.  Then I can see both channels of audio and I can add key frames, etc.  So, I just need to be able to see and edit both audio channels, independently.

  • My videos play with video/audio out of sync in itunes, what gives?

All of my itunes video library, including those purchased from the itunes store, play with the video/audio out of sync.  However, if I use Quicktime, they play fine. I just noticed this recently with the latest update to itunes.

I found the solution using google search.  Basically you have to downgrade your itunes software to version 10.7 and rebuild your library.   Just type in iTunes audio/video out of sync on google search and you will find the solution I am talking about.   I didn't think it would actually work because supposedly apple knows what it's doing but not in this case.  Why they would put out a new version of itunes that makes none of your videos play right, even ones you purchased from itunes is beyond me but I'm sticking with version 10.7 for as long as I can.

  • Problem with video audio sync using Bluetooth headphones

I have recently bought a pair of beats studio wireless headphones but when using my ipad there are sync issues with video and audio. Many apps have the problem but sky go seems to be the worst followed by YouTube. Apple video is not too bad but not perfect.

    Hello Jamie,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your new Bluetooth headphones.  It can certainly get frustrating if the audio gets out of sync when using the headphones.
I recommend reviewing the sections titled "Resolution" and "Bluetooth disconnects, intermittent connectivity, or unable to find" in the following article for steps to troubleshoot the issue you described:

  • No audio with video in itunes

Hi, no matter what I do, the audio won't play with the video when in itunes, regardless if it's a file I converted to m4v or if it's a video file I purchased and downloaded from the itunes music store like "alias" episodes OR if I'm just previewing streaming music videos from the itunes music store...no audio period. The purchased downloads that are synched to my ipod will play the audio with the video on the ipod and the mp3 songs play fine within itunes and the ipod, just the audio for the video doesn't seem to work at all. Any help here?
    PC   Windows XP

had the same problem...recently upgraded itunes, now video did not play audio.
Found this info on the web, and it solved my problem:

"Problem: You have the latest version of iTunes and QuickTime and you still don’t get audio from iTunes.
Solution: Open the QuickTime Player and go to the Edit menu to choose Preferences, then QuickTime Preferences. Click the resulting dialog box’s Audio tab, then select the Safe Mode (waveOut Only) checkbox. Click Apply, reboot your system and try playing media in iTunes again."

  • Marrying Audio with Video

Question: How do I marry audio from Garageband with video and not have a drift?
I am capturing audio on a mic (Blue Snowball) with Garageband.
I am capturing matching video with a Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000 on a PC. I click record on my PC, then I turn around and click record on my Mac. Two separate systems going.
I have a feeling I'm trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear using the web cam. I'm trying to work with what I have and the web cam is easy to place around the piano.
The Logitech QuickCam program makes .avi files. There are a number of compression options and the only one that I've found that works is the Divx codec. In any case, videos are still saved with the .avi extension.
After I send the .avi file to my Mac I open Quicktime, and then I export the video as a .mov file. This is the only way I can import the video into iMovie.
I don't have this issue if I take Garageband out of the situation, hooking the mic up to the PC where video and audio are recorded together. BUT Garageband utilizes the capabilities of the mic better.
File info for my .avi files show frame rate as "30 frames/second"
I would really like the audio I capture in Garageband to sync with the matching video. Can this be done?

Some things I forgot to mention...
To clarify, I'm importing the .mov file into iMovie '09. Then I'm dropping the .m4a file from Garageband in. I sync up the sound with the picture so that it looks and sounds right at the start of the action but before a minute is up there is noticeable drift.

  • Automatically sync two clips with identical audio?

I have two cameras running, so when I import the two clips, I want to synchronise them based on the audio content. Currently I am clapping at the start of the clip and manually synching them, but I wonder if there is an effective way to do this automatically?
I thought that : Clip>Synchronise clips would do this (mentioned in another thread), but it just creates a compound clip based on the start of each clip, not synching them in time.
    Thanks.

    Tom Wolsky wrote:
Sync clips is for syncing separate audio and video. It doesn't do multiple video clips. You need to use the create multicam clip function in 10.0.3.
Well, I seem to have it working now (almost). And it does seem to work with two video clipsI don't know why it didn't work the first time either.
    Tom Wolsky wrote:
Yes, that's what sync clips should do if there is readable both on both the video clip and the audio clip. Don't know why it's not working
I say "almost", because the clips appear to be slightly out of sync in that the audio is about 44 subframes out.
Is this normal I wonder? Is it because the audio on one of the cameras was slightly out and FCP is synching the video not the audio?
It's rare that I would have both audio tracks at once, but it is possible that they may crossfade, in which case the slight delay is annoying and it would be nice if I could get it to synch more accurately.
So I am still having to manually line up the audio, which seems to mean I need to detach the audio, as otherwise it won't nudge by subframes.

  • No audio with video Premiere 11, distorted work area

I downloaded Premiere 11 onto my Macbook Pro.  I have 2 issues, I have no audio on videos or with narration.  Mp3's play fine.  When I bring media into the work space, every thing is distorted and I can't see where I am dropping it or what I am doing with it.  We have Premiere 11 on my husbands Mac and it works fine.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the details. Moving forward...assuming that all new projects behave the same with regard to your problem media in your Premiere Elements 11 Mac.
    1. Narration. Please create a .wav narration clip in the free audio editor named Audacity and import them into Premiere Elements 11 Mac with the project's Add Media/Files and Folder/Project Assets from where you drag it to the Timeline Narration Track.
    2. MOV File. What is the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded that video?
Double check to assure that you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 11 Mac.
How does the editing workspace distorts weirdly when the .mov file is dragged from Project Assets to Video Track 1 of the Timeline?
Do MaxBook Pro have themes as does Windows (Aero, Basic, and High Contrast)?
    3. Miscellaenous. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file in the 12.0 Folder
    Users\Libraries\............\Adobe\Premiere Elements\12.0
For Mac, I am not sure if the ......is Preferences or Application Support
I am wondering about your Intel Iris video card/graphics card. Need to find out if there is any history on that with Premiere Elements.
If none of the above presents as contributing to the core issue, then let us try downloading a new source of installation files. Please do so from
the following web site. We will be using installation files for Premiere Elements 11 tryout into which you can insert your purchased serial number.
Photoshop Elements 11 Direct Download Links: Free Trials, Premiere | ProDesignTools
You can also look at the Premiere Elements 12 tryout to determine if there is any difference in behavior between 11 and 12.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Direct Download Links, Premiere too | ProDesignTools
Let us see if any of the above has any impact on your situation.
    Thanks.
